Don't bother! What a shame! we had high hopes for this place after reading lots of reviews about how good the breakfast was and how lovely the rooms were, we booked this last minute for our 25 year anniversary so we thought we would treat ourselves and out of all the rooms the Richmond 'deluxe' suite ticked all the boxes, lovely room freestanding bath in the room it looked lovely didn't mind paying the extra for a special occasion. We arrived the host greeted us got us our welcome drink which was a lovely touch. Thought yes this place is that bit more special than the other places we were looking at in the area. I understand it's in a old house but god the cracks and bowing in the ceiling were horrendous it just spoilt the look of the room. Also the mattress on my side had a huge dip in one part like someone was constantly kneeling on the bed I looked under the sheets and it was like a big dip. So that also wasn't great. We went out to get something to eat recommended by the host the food was lovely so that was good. We got back to the room after having a walk to have a bath and settled down for the night tried running the bath around 9.40pm and the water was stone cold so the whole reason we booked that particular room was for the bath in the room and we couldn't have one so we just thought we can't go down to ask anyone about it as it's too late so that part of our night was ruined for us. We woke up the next day after not the best night sleep and went down for our breakfast. Deadly silence in the breakfast room could of done with music or the radio playing in the background In my opinion not loud but we could hear the other person in there eating. A few other people came down for breakfast and the host asked them did they have any hot water. They said no the host said they could stay longer than the check out if they wanted as the problem was fixed now. I was looking over in the hope she might have asked us the same question considering our room was probably the only room there with a freestanding bath in it and one of the most expensive rooms available for that night. We didn't say anything and neither did she unfortunately. We thought we might of been asked how our stay was on the way out on leaving our keys on the table nothing was said. We wouldn't of wanted to stay for a bath this morning anyway as it wasn't the time we wanted one it was all about the night away and we were sorely disappointed and wished we had booked round the corner and tried not to go high end as unfortunately it wasn't. I fully understand that these things happen and it was out of their control but I think we should of maybe been charged for a more standard room rate than full price considering we couldn't use the bath last night or at 6am/7am in the morning when we got up. We went there wanting to have a special night and the bath situation being out the window spoilt it for us. The breakfast wasn't brilliant the sausages were like they were cooked in plastic the skin was really thick. The eggs weren't brilliant for my husband abit under cooked just feel ripped off for what we got really which was a shame. Also the room had a open fire but no logs or anything next to it. We might of not wanted it on but it would of been nice for the coat we paid to have the option.

I arrived on a last minute booking with all the courtesy and help that could be given. The charming room in the town house of this charming town was comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable. Breakfast was coked by our host with excellent ingredients used on arri al in the quiet dining room.
Stayed at Castle House B&B in Richmond and honestly couldn’t fault it. The rooms are on the smaller side, but really clean and well looked after. It’s got that quirky, cosy feel rather than your standard chain hotel, which I actually preferred. Everything you need is there, and it’s clear they take pride in keeping the place spotless. The standout for me though was the breakfast – easily the highlight of the stay. Proper quality food, cooked right, and sets you up for the day. You can tell they don’t cut corners with it. Overall, great little place if you’re after somewhere comfortable, clean, and a bit different. Would stay again.
I had a very pleasant one night stay at this down-to-earth B&B. I stayed in the Easby room, a little double room at the top of the house with a lovely view. It had a freestanding tub with a shower attachment and no problems with hot water. The floor of the room was incredibly sloped - two of the bed legs were on 2-3 inch blocks! - which was a little unsettling but part of its charm as an older property. The extra-mile elements were the hospitable welcome and drink on arrival, the comfortable bed, and the delicious breakfast. I also really appreciated the flexibility of the owner on the timing of my breakfast.
A lovely B&B in the centre of Richmond. The friendliest welcome of our Coast to Coast experience. We loved the Georgian style and history, with old pictures and mismatched furniture and china. The large comfy sofas in the lounge were a good place to relax (especially as our room was quite small). Great breakfast, especially the creamy porridge! Good value for money
