Unloved, outside bins overflowing constantly (do staff/management not notice on their way into work). Had issues with an unruly couple of tramps next door (room 360) screaming and shouting from 2am-4am,l with zero consideration of others, phoned down to reception and nobody answered. Had to try to deal with the issue ourselves, police were called, came into our room at 4am to check the locks to see how they could break into their room easily. My two children were scared. Got very little sleep as a result. Zero compassion from the manager the following morning. Grim.

The hotel was fine, but there were aspects that were a bit run down or could have had a bit of a better cleaning, but the thing that pulled this review back was staff member Harry. We arrived to the hotel, having had our rooms switched due to a fault in our original room, but it wasn't suitable, so we asked to switch, and were then also delayed - but Harry was very friendly and helpful through, apologetic, and did everything that he could to support us, whoch we really appreciated. If any managers read this, and Harry is not already on the management track, I would highly recommend that you out him on such at the next available opportunity - his customer service was excellent.
First of all the staff were lovely and were great with any issues. The location of the hotel was perfect and the amenities were great. However, when we were allocated our room there was heavy staining on the base of the bed that looked like revolting bodily fluids and the mattresses were beyond adequate. Reception were excellent at sorting this and we were quickly provided with another room no fuss. Having stayed at lots of other Holiday Inns I was surprised that the standard of cleanliness wasn't immaculate. Particularly the doors of the toilets in the lobby area there was a visible build up of finger marks. Our shower screen had a horrid build up of limescale and cups were at times dirty. The coffee machines for breakfast were mostly broken and very slow. This could be easily resolved. The pastries were undercooked and doughy. On a more positive note it was a lovely touch having a Starbucks and the bar area was comfortable and inviting. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Small improvements could make this lovely hotel even better. The biggest asset to this hotel are the staff and you could see everyone was working hard to provide guests with an enjoyable stay. Thank you.
What an unexpectedly lovely hotel. The staff here is amazing! Quiet and comfortable hotel rooms. Nicely sized rooms as well. The best AC of our whole 2 week trip. It’s well priced and in the most adorable town. Looking forward to returning to see more of Lancaster one day.
This is the second time I have stayed at The Holiday Inn Lancaster. The location is ideal for both an overnight stop over while travelling on the M6 or for visiting Lancaster and surrounding sites. I particularly enjoyed walking on the canal-side Millennium Path which runs directly past the hotel, and is part of a walking/cycling network which extends as far as Morecombe. My own children are now adults, but it is just the sort of hotel I would have taken them to. The outdoor play area, indoor seating, swimming pool and self-service breakfast are all ideal for children. The menu appeals to a wide age range, although if you are looking for a dining experience you may prefer to venture into the city centre. Without exception the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly and are a real asset to the hotel.
