We booked 2 rooms for one night. Rooms were spacious and clean. It was great for a night. Cons.. Shower curtain had mould on it at the bottom. We had a extra bed for child in one room and it folded in the night. We had food in bar but wouldn't recommend.
Staff are wonderful & will do all they can to support you during your stay. The main access issue (as with most hotels) is the thick pile carpet in all the communal areas making pushing a wheelchair hard work. We didn't see other rooms, so the rest of this review is based on our stay in room 104. If this room anything to go by their "accessible rooms" leave a lot to be desired! The bed is at least 6-8" higher than the average seated position in a wheelchair. We did ask if the bed could be lowered but were apologetically told that it couldn't. So if you rely on seated transfers, you better hope you have gladiators upper body strength! Falling that, bring the longest slide (banana) board you have and a long slide sheet (a car related one will NOT be long enough!). If you have one, a portable hoist is best. We stayed for a wedding at the hotel, so we had smart clothes we needed to hang up on our arrival (night before the wedding). The hangers in the wardrobe are at "normal" height, making it extremely difficult to hang clothes up from a wheelchair (thank heaven for a husband with long arms!). Everything else - kettle, Complimentary toiletries, bathroom sink can only be used at standing height! So bring your own toiletries if you can't stand up. The thick pile carpet mentioned before is, as far as we can tell, throughout the entire hotel. If hotels don't want to go to the expense of replacing all the thick pile carpet, can I suggest a compromise of taking up 1 meter wide section of all carpet, throughout all corridor & rooms, to enable wheelchair users to have a much easier push around the hotel if they so wish.
Attended a friend's 60th birthday party with a lot of other people who used this hotel, think 21 rooms booked, not one bad word was said, just lots of praise for the staff and the hotel. Would definitely use this hotel again and recommend it to others. Great stay, lovely breakfast.
Really good service from the staff. Very friendly and accommodating for an early breakfast for myself and other archers in Barnsley over the weekend. Nice sized rooms and good Aircon in some rooms. Dynamic pricing made it really pricey though.
We had a group booking with 43 of us in total. Service was excellent and the food was good. What made the weekend, though, was the staff. To a person, the staff were very friendly, well turned out, polite and very professional. They obviously took pride in their work and enjoyed being part of the team. Our tour party really took to them!
