Fantastic spa hotel, the food is lovely (the beetroot starter was gorgeous and so pretty!!), the cocktails are great, rooms lovely, swimming pool is lovely and hot, like a giant jacuzzi, and the outdoor hot tubs are great to relax in. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for, the vegan afternoon tea was brilliant (I would suggest they buy in some vegan whipped cream for the scones, those bottles last ages so very easy to keep one in the fridge!), and the breakfast was brilliant. Can't wait to go back, thank you.

We’ve dined at Appleby Manor twice now, as we enjoyed our first visit so much that we decided to come back. The food has been excellent both times. From the generous portion sizes to the thoughtful pairing of side dishes, everything feels well considered. The food is original, tasty, a little different, and most importantly, genuinely full of flavour. It feels like care has gone into both the menu and the presentation rather than simply trying to make the dishes look impressive. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with large windows overlooking some of the most gorgeous views. It makes the whole dining experience feel particularly special, especially when you can sit and enjoy the scenery alongside your meal. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, although I do think some of the younger team members could benefit from a little more training and confidence. On both visits there were a few moments of confusion over fairly simple requests or questions. For example, one member of staff wasn’t familiar with balsamic vinegar, and another request to split a full glass of wine between two glasses caused quite a bit of confusion. We also occasionally struggled to get clear answers when asking questions about the food or service. Nothing was a major issue, and everyone was always polite and clearly trying their best, but a little more training would make the service feel much more polished and consistent with the standard of the food and surroundings. The more experienced staff, however, were fantastic, particularly the barman. He was lovely and incredibly knowledgeable, with excellent drink recommendations both from the menu and beyond it. He really added to the experience. It’s also worth mentioning that although the restaurant can get busy and we weren’t staying at the hotel, they have always made an effort to accommodate us for dinner, which we really appreciate. Overall, Appleby Manor has become somewhere we’re very happy to return to. Beautiful surroundings, genuinely delicious and interesting food, generous portions and lovely people. With a little more training for some of the newer staff, the service could easily match the very high standard of everything else.
We went for the spa, massage and lunch all enclusive. Had a great day. Was quiet so we could really relax. Very clean, only downside was changing space was extremely small and difficult to find space to undress. Once inside, all very nice, water good temperature and nice salt room. We found it an intimate setting but could imagine it would feel crowded if lots in there at the same time. Massage was great and very friendly staff member doing this. Lunch was great, very tasty set menu. Eating area spotless and great views from the conservatory and lovely sitting outside the hotel. Didn't stay at the hotel but it looked lovely inside. Very old world but stylish. Came out feeling like we were floating and well pampered so ticked all the boxes!
Spent a weekend here in a spa break. The only let down was the spa. The staff were excellent in there but the facilities are poor and small. I had a massage and the masseur was excellent and very knowledgeable. The room was fantastic, all food was excellent and the hotel itself it’s a little gem. Very pleased with the stay. The staff are all excellent and a credit to the hotel. It’s about a twenty minute walk into the village, not much to do there , but all rooms have Netflix, Amazon etc on the tv’s
A lovely Hotel! I was particularly interested in the history of the building and the staff were absolutely full of knowledge and very accommodating. There are a lot of original Art Deco pieces which gives this place a special feel. Dinner was OK, not spectacular, but OK. The GLUTEN FREE selection is varied and the effort is there. I would stay again.
