Itinerary

The Vieux Bassin of Honfleur is the beating heart of this charming Norman port town, renowned for its authentic character and unique maritime atmosphere. Dug in the Middle Ages, this historic harbor played a central role in Honfleur's commercial growth, serving as the home port for merchant ships and fishing boats that shaped the town's history. Surrounded by colorful half-timbered houses, renowned seafood restaurants, and lively art galleries, the Vieux Bassin offers an enchanting, postcard-perfect setting. Its picturesque quays, lined with vibrant fishing boats and elegant sailboats, create an idyllic backdrop for a romantic stroll or a leisurely meal on a sunlit terrace. This iconic spot has also inspired many famous artists, including Gustave Courbet and Eugène Boudin, who found endless creative inspiration in its maritime landscapes. Today, the Vieux Bassin continues to captivate visitors with its timeless charm and bewitching atmosphere, seemingly suspended in time.
The Church of Sainte-Catherine in Honfleur is an exceptional architectural treasure, embodying the rich historical and maritime heritage of the town. Built in the late 15th century, this entirely wooden church is the largest of its kind in France, making it a truly remarkable monument. Its unique architecture is the result of the craftsmanship of the shipbuilders of the time, who applied naval construction techniques to create this place of worship. The main nave, with its shape resembling an overturned ship’s hull, is supported by massive oak beams, exuding both strength and elegance. The detached bell tower, reminiscent of an old ship’s lighthouse, further emphasizes the maritime connection that defines Honfleur.
Built in the early 17th century, this chapel is a cherished pilgrimage site for local sailors and fishermen, who come to pay their respects to the Virgin Mary and seek her protection before setting out to sea. The chapel’s architecture is marked by its understated elegance, with stone walls and a slate roof that blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. Inside, the peaceful atmosphere is enhanced by delicate stained glass windows that cast soothing patterns of light on the wooden walls. The sanctuary houses a revered statue of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, surrounded by numerous votive offerings from grateful mariners. The intersection of faith and maritime tradition is also evident in the ceremonies held here, including ship blessings and prayers for safe voyages. The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is a haven where history, devotion, and natural beauty converge, providing visitors with an experience of charm and authenticity.
You will have access to a beautiful panorama and it is worth seeing especially on a sunny day. You will see the basins of the port and the two pylons of the bridge of Normadie connecting Honfleur to Le Havre and just below a good part of the old city with its narrow streets.
At Manoir d'Apreval, a family-run estate located between Deauville and Honfleur, you'll have the chance to meet our friends and family, who have been passionately producing cider and calvados for five generations. Specializing in the cultivation of apples and pears, Manoir d'Apreval blends traditional and modern methods with a commitment to environmental respect. All our products, including pure fruit juices, cider, pommeau, and calvados, are organic. Set amidst the lush orchards of the Pays d'Auge, this charming estate offers an authentic and flavorful experience, immersing you in the heart of Norman tradition while uncovering the secrets of our production.

You feel very special on this trip. Everyone looks, waves, smiles 😊 it’s fabulous fun. A Very knowledgeable guide and interesting facts are shared. I had forgotten about the cider tasting, so that was a bonus.
What a great experience driving on the beautiful, clean, scenic roads of Normandy! Our guide, Nicolas, was easy-going and enthusiastic in his delivery (but not fake) of interesting history along the route. Some flowers were blooming - you could smell them from time to time. The Calvados farm produces in the authentic old style, so this felt very special! The bonus of the trip was all of the other tourists who were stopping to smile at us in our retro cycle set-up as we wove our way through Honfleur’s old stone streets. Highly recommend.
Come prepared to have lots of fun and engage with the driver. If you already have a little knowledge of the history of Normandy, that is useful.
Fantastic Motorbike and side car trip around Honfleur with the lovely Nicholas driving. Nicholas stopped at places of interest to tell us about them and took us up to a high spot with lovely views over the town. We then drove into the countryside where we stopped for Cider and Calvados tasting. Highly recommend this tour.
We loved this trip! Remi was so awesome and it was truly a one of a kind experience. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. There were no worries!! Would highly recommend if you want to see more of the beautiful countryside!
I did the 2 hours retro sidecar trip from Deauville to Honfleur. It was one of the best tours I've ever done ...any where! Nicholas, my guide, had excellent English and was very knowledgeable. I learned so many interesting facts on our tour. It was exhilarating whizzing along the Normandy roads to Honfleur - it was a damp dull mid-week day which was great as there were fewer people about and meant I got to see more and take some great pictures! I enjoyed seeing the churches and the highpoint view of the Normandy bridge and Honfleur, and also the Calvados tasting - the apple juice was the best I've ever tasted. I was very sad when it ended as Nicholas had been a wonderful travel companion and guide for 2 hours and I left with some special memories and more knowledge of Normandy! This tour was one of my holiday highlights and would thoroughly recommend.
We couldn't go but our friends went and said it was fantastic. The pilot was excellent, the time at the distillery was wonderful and of course the weather cooperated. It was to be the highlight of our trip so I am disappointed that we were too sick to go but, as I said, our friends said it was wonderful in every way.
Our guide was Nicolas and he was absolutely excellent, well informed and relaxed. We enjoyed his company. We loved the side car tour to Honfleur- we saw and learned a lot in the two hours and stopped by an apple farm on the way back. Nicolas was a very safe driver which was appreciated.
The Private sidecar tour and cider tasting from Honfleur by Retro Tour Normandy was a delightful experience on 9 Oct. Nicholas and Remi, our guides, were super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, adding a personal touch to the adventure. The highlight was undoubtedly the cider-tasting session, where my son not got a taste of the life of a cider-maker. The tour seamlessly combined thrill, education, and relaxation, making it a memorable journey through picturesque landscapes. Highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking a unique and enriching way to explore the beautiful region of Normandy.
Amazing! Being picked up from port & then climbing into side cart, made us feel super special. All eyes were on us! Then off we went on a brilliant tour & got a little taste of history. Our guide was very friendly & knowledgeable. Only thing I say be aware of, is when you are on the bike and the winds are blowing in your face… it can be a little eye watering, so glasses are a must!
What a wonderful way to see Honfleur and this magnificent area in Normandy. Our driver was friendly, knowledgeable and we felt safe. I highly recommend this to enhance and learn about this beautiful part of France.
An absolute highlight of our time in Honfleur! The Retro Tours sidecar ride was absolutely amazing — beautiful vintage bikes, stunning Normandy scenery, and 2 fantastic guides who made the history come alive. A completely unique way to see the region with huge smiles all round. Highly recommend!
Fantastic way to see Honfleur! Especially loved visiting the Apple orchard where they make cider (and friends…) and the sidecar through the hills!
Fantastic experience, drivers really friendly and helpful, throughly recommend the experience, would love to do a long version.
Riding in a sidecar has been on my bucket list for a while and this was the perfect way to experience it! Our driver, Bruce, made us feel very safe and comfortable and the fact that his real profession is police officer, made us especially relaxed. We went through beautiful countryside and stopped at a cidery for a cider and calvados tasting. I hope that when you sign up for this tour that you are fortunate enough to have Bruce as your driver!
This was such a beautiful and fun experience. Absolutely recommend trying this. The guides took us to the most beautiful places and it was so fun on the side cars
This was so much fun. Florent was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and very safe! The cider tasting was also excellent. We would definitely recommend this experience.
This was hands-down the best experience of our trip! Riding through the charming streets and countryside of Honfleur in a vintage sidecar was pure magic. The views were stunning, the pace was perfect, and every moment felt like something out of a movie. What made it truly special were the incredible bikers—so friendly, passionate, and full of local knowledge. They made us feel completely at ease, shared fascinating stories, and added such a personal touch to the whole ride. You can tell they genuinely love what they do. If you’re looking for something unique, fun, and absolutely memorable, don’t miss this sidecar tour. It’s not just a ride—it’s an experience you’ll be talking about for years, I know we will.
We took a sidecar tour from La Havre, as our cruise ship docked for the day. We could not have had a better experience! Our guides were fantastic - we learned so much about the area and the history of the area. The sidecars are fantastic! I cannot recommend this company enough.
Charming couple of hosts! Very knowledgeable about the history and details of Honfleur and the surrounding areas (both being local to the region) but did not bore us to death with details - got the balance just right! Importantly, we felt safe with their driving.
Really great trip. Something different to do whilst in Honfleur. You get to see outside of the town and taste some cider and calvados. Our guide was friendly with good English Only thing I’d mark down on was the tasting was meagre portions for the price paid
We absolutely loved our private sidecar tour with Nicholas! From start to finish, it was a unique and memorable way to explore Honfleur and the surrounding countryside. Nicholas was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the region’s history and culture, but also warm and flexible. He made excellent use of our time, taking us to scenic spots we would have never discovered on our own. The visit to the cider and calvados farm was another highlight: a charming, authentic experience with delicious tastings in a beautiful rural setting. Riding through the Normandy countryside in a vintage sidecar was unforgettable – both relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!
Our guide Nicholas was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Informative dialog with the history of Honfleur and a fun way to see the sights. I would highly recommend this tour.
Lovely guide informative friendly...honfleur pretty...countryside charming......felt safe in sidecar xxx easy pick up at cruise ship port
The tour was amazing, pilot Nicholas was very informative and took us to lots of places we would never have found by ourselves. He was very courteous and obliging and we loved every minute of the tour, would do it all over again, loved Honfleur and Trouville! Beautiful, thank you very much Nicholas, highly recommended.
This was a delightful way to spend a sunny morning. Beautiful sights and countryside, bits of historical events shared, easy and comfortable ride in the sidecar. Highly recommended.
It’s fun, you get to see so much, and it’s a unique experience. How many of your friends have had a chance to experience this thrilling opportunity? Probably none, but you have!
We had the best time yesterday doing this tour. As I have a walking disability I found this tour an easy way to see parts of Honfleur that would have been a challenge and tasting the local apple juice, cider and Calvados was the extra that made this tour perfect. Our guide was on time, easy to understand and looked after us so well.
My wife and I enjoyed an exciting Side Car tour and Cider tasting with Nicolas (our tour guide). One of the best tours we have ever been on. Our guide was excellent with discussions on all the sites and patient with my wife and her problems with her knees. A wonderful gentlemen and driver. Thank you for our experience.
This experience was the highlight of our trip to Normandy. Tomas and Remi were fantastic and were able to show us so much that we would never have seen. Their explanations of the countryside were perfect, enabling us to understand the culture and history of such a beautiful place. Thank you both for such a great time!
It was an amazing and original adventure with our very friendly driver Nicolas. He knows al lot about the history of this region and is a very good story teller. He brought us to special places with the fantastic sidecar and was just there for me and my husband. A very special way to discover Honfleur and is surroundings!
Nicolas gave us quite the trip. He was both kind and highly knowledgeable with a real passion for the area. It was the highlight of our Normandy trip. Honfleur itself was beautiful on its own but Nicolas elevated the experience. The calvados distillery was a refreshing change of pace outside Honfleur. As for the ride, I had a smile on my face the whole drive. Would absolutely do this again.
Thomas and Flo were excellent guides and drivers - and the sidecars were so much fun! Highly recommend to anyone looking to experience Honfleur and the surrounding countryside. Simply fantastic!
If you're looking for something delightful to do in Honfleur, you've found it! This tour was an absolute blast and the perfect way to kick off our day in Honfleur. Our tour guide Remy was utterly fantastic. Knowledgeable and funny, he made an amazing ride through the beautiful downtown and countryside even better. At the end of our tour, he even booked us a table at a local restaurant where we had the best mussels of our lives! Merci!
This is the best adventure; one of the most memorable vacation experiences I've had. My guide was knowledgeable, charming, and informative. The motorcycle ride itself is such fun! Very safe and a great way to see the countryside. If you are in the Honfleur area, don't miss this opportunity!
Superb sensations in the sidecar, very interesting city tour, very nice guide giving useful information. I hope to relive this superb experience very soon!
Absolutely fabulous experience with great guide and a total experience. People everywhere were looking at us with envy😅
Imagine being whizzed through a meandering landscape at speed, the sun on your skin, the steady cadence of the monocylinder nicely humming away, interspersed by a passionate storyteller enlightening you on the various sights. That's more or less what it felt like for me and I loved every single second of it. The Sidecar is both comfortable and very safe and the speed is more subjective than anything else for you're in the capable hands if a gentleman driver, Nicholas in my case. It is in all respects the perfect way to truly discover everything Honfleur has to offer, including cider of course.
What a way to spend a day in Normandy. This tour and our guide Remi, both greatly exceeded our expectations. This was like living a day out of a movie. Absolutely fabulous. Remi made this day the BEST!!!!
This was the best experience for our family! Thomas and Nikolas were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and kind! It was a highlight for my 6 year old daughter and our trip to France!! I highly recommend this tour in Normandy!
This was such a fun experience. We were a party of six so we rented 3 sidecars with drivers - Remy, Thomas, and Nicolas - for the 90 minute Honfleur tour. The drivers had great personalities and were very informative along the tour. We stopped at a church, cider farm, house where Monet lived early in his career, and some beautiful overlooks. We really enjoyed doing something a bit different during our tour of Normandy. We all had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour.
Super fun few hours with a very personable and informed guide. We had great weather and there is something special about touring on a sidecar. Highly recommended.
It was worth every cent. Beautiful scenery with an excellent driver (Flo) who was willing to share information about the locations that we visited. The ride was great fun and safe. Would recommend to a friend.
We had a great time with Remy and Thomas as our guides. They picked us up right outside of the cruise port gates. I wanted an excursion from our cruise ship that would not take up the whole day and was accessible for my senior parents, one of which is not that mobile. They had a blast riding in the side cars while my husband and I were the second passengers in the back. We were able to spend some time in beautiful Honfleur and then got to see a secluded church and finally a cider tasting with a small local maker. At our request, they were able to drop us of in La Havre city center where got lunch at a local restaurant and then we walked back to the cruise ship from there. Bit of a splurge but I would do it again and highly recommend!
The apple orchard and cider tasting were so fun and such a gorgeous setting. The tour was excellent and a highlight of our entire trip. Our guides were friendly and fun. Highly recommend this tour.
Fantastic must do experience while exploring honfleur.Thomas our guide was really engaging with many historical facts.Cider tasting really enjoyable.Highly reccommend the tours.

Good fun - first experience of this kind. Remy was very informative with his history and about local history but we gained more knowledge about Honfleur - had fun and enjoyed tasting some calvados along the way!
