Visiting the WW2 sites was one of the most moving experiences we have ever had. Pierre M brought history to life with his vast knowledge of the soldiers, battle strategies, and the aftermath of the war and its impact on the local populace and landscape. He conducted our trip in flawless, precise English, chose wonderful restaurants and thoughtful rest stops throughout the day, and his car (Mercedes) was cool and very comfortable as we traversed the many sites. We have gone on three different tours with him (Band of Brothers Tour, bespoke D-Day tour and relaxing day in and around Honfleur tour) and he enriched our experience immeasurably. We hope to do a Mount St Michel tour with him next time! Highly recommend this wonderful local company and Pierre M.

Mickael was an outstanding Normandy tour guide! We did the “American tour” - Omaha, Utah, etc) and he was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about the history of the region and the D-Day sites. He brought the stories to life and made the entire experience both meaningful and memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and would highly recommend Mickael to anyone visiting Normandy!
We had a great day touring historical sites around Normandy with our guide/driver/expert, Sophie. Sophie was very kind, so well-informed, and did a great job. She connected with each of our kids (ages 7-15) and worked to make sure everyone was seeing something of interest or importance to them. We seemed to see the big important sites, while simultaneously avoiding big crowds. The tour felt individual and personal. Sophie was thoughtful and personable- we enjoyed learning about the history and getting to see this beautiful area through a local’s eyes. Communication between HQ, Sophie and us was strong and we knew what to expect. The van was comfortable, clean and nice and cool. It was a great tour and day!
We toured with Gwen. I had a previous experience with him two years ago and knew that I wanted to tour with him again. Weeks before we exchanged email with my interest and his suggestions. He was waiting at our meeting point when we arrived and we hit the ground running. I along with my family of five were engaged throughout the tour. Gwen, knew where to-park, where to walk, and what areas would be of interest to our group. Gwen knew the right place to stop for lunch and pick up a quick bite to eat. A special point on the tour was our visit to the American cemetery. Gwen arranged a visit to my son-in-law‘s great uncle‘s grave. Gwen handled everything with the cemetery personnel, and we were provided a golf cart ride to the gravesite along with a very special ceremony that the cemetery personnel provided. Gwen realized my special interest in the Band of Brothers sites and included a few extra points of interest and discussion during the tour. What a great fun personable guy who is also very intelligent with World War II history. If I ever make it back to Normandy I will look up Gwen.
Our family of 4 (two adults, preteen kids) did a personalized full-day tour with Yannick last week and it was incredible. Per his recommendation, we hit the D-Day highlights in the morning. We visited Omaha beach, the Normandy American Cemetery, and a few other key spots. Then, after lunch, we followed in the footsteps of my grandfather, who fought in Normandy during WWII. Using some basic information I'd provided, Yannick did extensive research on my grandfather's Company's movements during the two months after D-Day. He drove us to several sites, showing us photos and troop movements using maps, and telling us about some of the things he'd experienced. Like many men of that generation, my grandfather had not spoken much about is service during the war. It was very poignant to get a small taste of his actions during those key months, and overall an experience that I'll never forget. Yannick is a fantastic storyteller, who kept my kids engaged the entire time -- even my child who was not at all interested in the topic. He's extremely energetic, passionate and knowledgeable, and we'll never forget the extra mile he went to help us learn more about my grandfather.
A fantastic full-day tour from Bayeux with Paul! We had an amazing experience discovering the D-Day sites in Normandy. The tour was very well organized, comfortable, and full of fascinating historical context. Paul was an excellent guide: very knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely funny. We especially loved the way he told the stories behind each place. He made the history feel alive, while still being respectful of the importance and emotion of the sites. The balance between clear explanations, great storytelling, and lighter moments made the whole day both moving and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Normandy and wanting to understand the history of the D-Day landings in a deeper and more memorable way. 5 stars without hesitation!
This was our second visit to Normandy, but our first using Viator. Fantastic experience for two reasons: Bryce, our guide, was amazing. He was warm and engaging. He narrated the “D Day story” clearly and accurately- with lots of facts and color that our “Band Of Brothers” obsessed grandson wanted. It was a challenging day because of heavy rain, but he worked around that and followed an itinerary we specifically wanted. I also very much appreciated the Vistor service as they answered every question I had regarding this tricky booking (I also have had great service from Viator on another reservation change later in this trip.
Yannick is a superb storyteller! He was recommended to us quite enthusiastically from a client, and we booked him to do full day tours of the Normandy D-Day landings, and of Mont St Michelle. He is an expert on the history of the area, and his passion and enthusiasm are evident in all of the details that he brought to life through his storytelling. Practically speaking, we had a group of 18 people to manage and he assisted us with every detail, from restaurant reservations for our lunch during the tour, to helping manage the flow of the group in crowded areas. He even arranged a special walk through the bay of Mont St Michelle with a park ranger- quite a highlight. Best of all, Yannick was so warm, engaging and entertaining that the long bus rides flew by. When we bring our next group to this area, we’ll definitely do more with Yannick and HQ Tours
This tour was amazing!! Yannick is an incredible guide, very knowledgeable and engaging. I highly recommend and would absolutely book another tour with HQ!!
Outstanding tour with Paul. He provided very knowledgeable information with interesting tidbits. He had wonderful maps and pictures of various sites and people that enhanced the experience. It was an all day experience that was enlightening despite the emotional and very sad details of what took place. He provided amble time to have lunch and to tour the museum. We started in Omaha beach and ended in Utah beach with a secret destination that was very moving. Paul was very passionate about the area which enhanced our experience. Would highly recommend. Beth from USA
Fantastic day! We booked the private full day British sector tour for our Dad’s 60th birthday. The aim was to follow in the footsteps of his Dad, who landed on Sword Beach. HQ massively surpassed our expectations. Mickael went above and beyond, doing loads of research into our granddad in advance so he could personalise the day. His expertise was seriously impressive, and on top of that, he’s great company to spend the day with. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Fabulous historic knowledge, friemdly!
I highly recommend HQ Company Tours. They made the entire process easy, were professional, courteous, and had excellent communication skills. Our guide Yannick delivered an incredible experience and made our visit to Normandy extra special. The knowledge and passion he posses are contagious and he was such a joy to be around. We learned so much from him and appreciated his willingness to answer questions and customize our experience. We booked a two day tour (D-Day Normandy Beaches and Mont Saint Michel) and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a must do if you want to visit Normandy. 10/10 recommend.
A private best of D-day tour for seven. From the moment Gwen picked us up to the time he dropped us off, he shared a wealth of knowledge about WWII, the allies, the Germans, the battles and the people. Made it come alive for all of us. One of the best tours any of us have ever taken. Highly recommend if you want to learn about the events. Gwen also steered us to good restaurants and places to visit for the rest of our stay in Normandy.
From the moment Gwen picked us up, he shared interesting stories about the region and the different locations we visited. He connected the dots, answered all of our questions, helped really get a feel for WWII, d-day and beyond. Even after 8 hours, we were still intently listening to his stories. SO knowledgeable and we couldn’t have asked for more. Gwen also provided us with great recommendations for other Normandy areas to visit and restaurants to try out.
Yannick was an amazing guide for our private tour. He was knowledgeable, personable, and accommodating the entire time we were with him. I cannot describe in words how amazing this tour was. Day one was Monet and day two was the Normandy beach tour. I highly recommend the private tour with Yannick. He even made the tour desirable for our 7 year old daughter. You have to book with him if you want the complete experience.
Sophie was an excellent tour guide. She promptly picked us up in a beautiful, comfortable van, and spent a full day with great information, details and a booklet to share pictures and maps. She made the day very fun and memorable!
We took a private tour as a family of four with two kids ages 11 and 10. Our guide Yannick was extremely knowledgeable and a gifted storyteller. He shared anecdotes that brought a human element to the events of D-Day, the Battle of Normandy and WWII. He was able to relate with our children and keep them engaged across multiple sites over the course of nearly 8 hours together. If establishing a strong rapport with your tour guide is important then I would highly recommend Yannick and this company.
This was the highlight of our entire trip to France with 3 teens (boys and girls).Yannick was engaging, easy to understand, and provided a top-notch experience. Can’t recommend more highly!
Wanted to take a second to sing Sophie's praises. My family and I could not have asked for a more friendly, knowledgeable guide for our Band of Brothers tour Saturday, May 31st. Coming in not knowing exactly what to expect, this tour could not have been any more informative. At the very beginning of the tour, Sophie asked if there was anything in particular we wanted to see. She probably wanted to kick herself after asking the question with the number things that I wanted her to show us and cover. By the end of the end of the tour, Sophie had taken us to every single place on my list. I am a WWII enthusiast and like to think I know a little about D-Day. On one hand I did know some things that Sophie covered but she sure opened my eyes up to so much more that I did not know. Sophie's ability to produce photos from back in 1945 of soldiers standing in the same exact spot where we were at that moment could not have made the tour more realistic. Sophie had a smile on her face 100% of the time we were with her. The only time she wasn't smiling was when she was communicating. So thank you very much for setting us up with Sophie for the day. We could not have asked for anything more from a guide. Sophie is a huge asset to your team. She is GREAT!!! Thank you! Mike Carlson
Personal, joyful and very amazing historian! A light and detailed recall of history with great personal insights! Inspiring!
A wonderful, insightful private tour. The best tour we have ever experienced. Pierre Mesle was extremely knowledgeable in the battlefield areas we requested. As a former member of the 82nd Airborne and 18th Airborne, the tour was so helpful in connecting me to the actions of those units on D-Day and beyond. The day was perfectly scripted and we wasted no time. I can't say enough about the quality of the tour and Pierre's excellent presentation.
Great experience with HQ Company Tour on a full day private tour in Normandy. Our day included stops at Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Utah Beach and more. Yannick was an excellent guide and extremely knowledgeable about all the areas we visited and about WWII in general. Highly recommend!
A friend and I booked a private full day tour with Gwen, and his knowledge and enthusiasm made for a special day. We learned so much from his insights and the stories he shared. It’s amazing to see the beaches Omaha and Utah. I highly recommend. Don’t forget your rain gear!
Gwen was our guide on the full day private tour, and his knowledge and enthusiasm made for a special day. Visiting Omaha Beach was particularly moving, and having a guide to provide insights to the events of D-Day made for an invaluable experience. I highly recommend.
We had an amazing, informative day in Normandy exploring the D-Day beaches and sites with Yannick of HQ tours. Really, it was all we hoped for and more. When we set up our day, Yannick was super responsive. The day we toured, he accommodated the schedule to create a day that would best meet our needs. And he was lovely, and informative about all aspects of the history and the area. Our tour was well worth the money we spent on it. We can't recommend Yannick and HQ tours highly enough!
This was a FANTASTIC tour! Yannick went above and beyond to give our family a private tour of the D-Day beaches. He was incredibly knowledgable and you can see his passion in the history. We truly enjoyed every second of it and my dad (who is a WWII history buff) loved seeing all the sites in person. I highly recommend Yannick and his tour company for any tours! We hope to come back some day!
Great tour, see the big things in one day. Sophie our tour guide was exceptional! The Utah Museum is worth touring on the way.
I highly recommend Yannick Sterke from HQ Company Tour. He is a perfect guide for the Normandy area. Yannick is extremely knowledgeable, very passionate about explaining WWII history, has excellent English, adds numerous stories about soldiers from both sides of the war and is fun to be with for the entire day. He can provide an amazing agenda for the tour or customize it to your interests or highlight it to where a relative fought. He can dive deep into the history for the hardcore enthusiasts or focus more on the human interest stories for those with more of a casual interest in WWII. Yannick is quick to respond to questions while scheduling the tour and showed up early on the day of the tour. After the tour, he gave us an agenda for the following day based on our interests. Fantastic guy. Booking him will be your best decision on your trip to the Normandy area.
We enjoyed the day with Sophie. She was so knowledgeable about the history and region. Private transfers from our Airbnb.
We had an amazing experience. Our guide Yannick was incredibly knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The maps and photos that he shared really brought the history to life. I enthusiastically recommend this Company. The communication was smooth from start to finish. We plan to enjoy their tour of Mont Saint Michel next time we visit Normandy.
Gwen was very knowledgeable, highly personable and brought the events of June 6, 1944 and the days that followed to life in a very compelling way.
Pierre gave an amazing private tour for my family. Highly recommend doing a tour versus doing Normandy on your own due to the massive amount of information Pierre was able to share with us along with the ease of driving to the many different sites. He picked us up at the train station and dropped us back off which was very convenient as well. For sure check the weather. It was pretty cold today and very windy. So glad we did this! Worth the price!
Our tour guide (Janek) was amazing and so knowledgeable of the history of the area. His English was fantastic (we did not speak French) and very easy to understand and to have dialogue with. The experience was unforgettable and so glad that we were able to do this.
Yannick was our guide - I’ve taken a LOT of tours over the years and he’s the single best guide I’ve ever had. My two friends (who also travel and tour a lot) agreed. Yannick was incredibly knowledgeable, with a broad and specific understanding of all aspects of the Normandy invasion, but not in a pedantic way. He was casual, funny, easy to talk to, and did an incredible job of personalizing the Normandy invasion by telling stories about soldiers/people. He also had excellent pictures and maps to help us understand. Yannick is also flexible and adapted to our wishes as the day went on. If you go to Normandy he is an absolute star. Must hire him - you will not be disappointed!
Our tour yesterday of the American beaches was nothing short of superb. Yannick is an amazing guide who is deeply passionate about his work, which comes through in the depth and energy of his tours. We have been on many guided tours in Europe, and nothing surpasses the tour Yannick delivered for us. We left there feeling like we were there, 80 years ago. Remarkable!
Worth every penny. Gwen our guide was fantastic. We covered Omaha Beach, Utah beach and other sites. He told many stories and made it personal. He was very knowledgeable.
Yannick was fabulous! He is passionate about history and his love for teaching was evident our entire time together, four days. His depth of knowledge about D-Day and the Normandy campaign is amazing, and he has created a portfolio of maps and photographs that supplement his comments and help bring the events alive. We saw no other tour guide with a similar portfolio. His expertise extends to history beyond the beaches – Mont Saint Michel as an example. When I return to northern France I will seek out Yannick again. Without question, he receives my very highest endorsement. I urge you to seek out Yannick and his colleagues, you will be glad you did!
We spent a wonderful day touring D-Day sites with Yannek. He is a great guide, with a full knowledge of the history of the area and the various sites related to WWII. He brought the history to life for us and was willing to alter the proposed schedule to fit in all the things that we were interested in seeing and learning about. I would highly recommend Yannek & HQ Company Tour to anyone who is interested in the history of WWII and the D-Day landing.
Very committed guide, knowledgeable and inspiring. Even our teenage children found the private guided tour interesting and educational!
A private day tour with HQ Company for an association blind people from Finistère. Departure at 9:00 am from our accommodation in a very comfortable van, a Mickaël driver/guide, excellent guide who knows the history of Normandy and the details of D-Day, it is impressive... and especially of a kindness towards people with disabilities. We learned so much about the different sites visited that this day will remain UNFORGETTABLE as well as Mickaël!!
