It's difficult to articulate how meaningful of an experience this tour was. We knew this tour would be a sobering experience, but Boy's connection to the Normandy region and the personal relationships he has built with many veterans resulted in a feeling of developing a more personal connection that was unexpected. We loved how Boy would guide us through each of the locations, giving us the history, pointing out interesting individuals and telling us their stories, and telling us how the monuments and resting grounds were developed and continue to be maintained. He would then allow us time to sit with that information, allowing us time to process. We were never rushed from location to location. This is a day that will stay with you long after you return home. If you're planning a trip to Normandy, this is the D-Day tour you should book!

Excellent tour! Our guide was fabulous. His “job is his passion” and it shows. Extremely knowledgeable, informative and helpful in learning more about our grandpa who served in WWII as a medic, landing in the beaches just after the first wave of soldiers. Very had a very moving day. Highly recommend Boy Eysbroek (Neptune Battle Tours).
Wonderful experience! Our guide, Boy, was very knowledgeable and had many stories to supplement what you were viewing.
I can’t believe it took me this long to write this review! We had an amazing day with Boy. Wow! What an experience. Boy works really closely with our remaining WWII vets and because of that, he has some unique stories to share on the tour, stories you don’t hear with other tour guides. I met Boy through a mutual connection I have from a previous role I held where I hosted WWII veterans for December 7th events in Hawaii. With no hesitation, my friend recommended Boy, and Boy took care of us from the onset. Boy picked us up on a rainy morning and bad weather aside, we had a beautiful time. He even had a car seat for our baby. The whole family really enjoyed the trip and it truly felt like we were hanging out with a friend the whole day. We would totally recommend a private tour with Boy. He knows his stuff and he’s a fun hang too!
Amazing knowledge, Boy has been perfect
We consider ourselves really blessed to have chosen Neptune Battle Tours for our visit to Normandy. Our guide was "Boy". (He is also the owner of Neptune Tours!!) Boy was phenomenal! I couldn't imagine a more professional, flexible, or knowledgeable guide for our visit to Normandy. We (my wife and I) started the day by getting off our train from Paris in the wrong town!! (Caen instead of Bayeux!!) Boy didn't hesitate at all. Once we realized why we couldn't find each other outside the Bayeux train station, he was immediately back on the road, headed to Caen to find his lost clients! No recriminations, no smirking, just polite and efficient flexibility to make things feel seamless to us. Some skills and traits that Boy has that we felt at EVERY stop on the day: Knowledgeable - Boy knows the Normandy Campaign. Not just D-Day...but the Normandy Campaign. He opened our own perspectives to understand a much larger picture than we had when starting the day. Personal Knowledge - Boy has met people. Veterans of D-Day. Veterans of the Campaign. Historians. Family members. Foundation leaders. His gentle manner and genuine interest has helped him to accumulate a TON of information, background, personal anecdotes, and different perspectives on the history all around you in that area. Manner - Boy shares his wealth of knowledge without ever appearing to lecture or seem to be reading any type of script or check-list. He truly shares what he knows in a way that makes what could be an overwhelming flow of info become a series of personal observations about what we were seeing. Pleasant - Boy is just a nice guy! He never forced conversation, or allowed awkward silences. It was just a fun day with someone we felt we could call "friend" by the time we said good-bye at the train station. (On time, and at the correct station!!!) It was our very first private tour, 1-on-1 with a guide. We were a bit nervous and wondering about spending a day with a stranger. Well, that "stranger" thing stopped about 5 minutes after he picked us up. And it never felt forced. We felt all of those skills throughout the very full, but unhurried, day. I understand why his reviews are all so positive. We strongly recommend planning your trip to the D-Day beaches so that you can engage Boy for a day.
Boy took our family of 5 adults on not just a D-Day tour; it was a life experience none of us will ever forget! He expertly guided us to all the main sites (and some less advertised sites) explaining the details of the events not just in facts but through the stories of people who were there. Boy personally knows scores of Normandy veterans and re-tells D-Day experiences with first hand stories of those who fought there. He is an avid history enthusiast since a young child. He conducts his tour with passion and a mission to keep the memory, heroism and sacrifices of those who fought in Normandy alive for future generations to appreciate and understand. I cannot more highly recommend this tour, 10 stars would not be high enough of a rating! Gift yourself this tour experience, you absolutely will not be disappointed!
Boy was the best tour guide one could ask for. He was extremely knowledgeable, accommodating. informative, and passionate about preserving the memory of DDay and the stories of the many men and women who served. His command of the details of the events was superb. We feel honored to have had him as our guide.
Boy was amazing! I have waited a long time to visit Normandy and the day could not have gone better.
This was a great day tour. Boy is very knowledgeable and obviously a lifelong learner. He will not talk your ear off, he’ll calmly guide you and answer questions, then bring up stories he has learned or been told by vets. My husband has done some reading so had plenty of questions—it made for a rich experience. Bring water with you, it’s a long day with a nice stop for lunch, but wished we had water with us!
Boy is exceptional. If you want a sensitive and caring guide who has all the technical information (dates/numbers/battle fronts) but who grounds it all in personal stories…many, many times…of people he has actually met and talked to (yes - veterans who are in their 90’s) he is your man. The tour is unrushed but complete. He allows you time to absorb what you are seeing and is sensitive to what you are feeling. And there is a lot to feel on this tour. He took us to a great diner for lunch, answered all out questions, and generally was receptive. And something he did that the other tour guides cannot do…took us into some private places (he had the keys!) - we saw the living quarters of where the German officers lived during the occupation including murals on the walls drawn the the German soldiers of life in the barracks. He is a fantastic guide and we felt genuinely blessed to have him.
Book this tour! Boy, the tour guide, is so knowledgeable and will guide you to all the D day places of interest. Our group of seven had a wonderful full day tour with a stop for lunch. Everyone is so happy we went on this D-Day adventure
Our full day tour far exceeded our expectations. The tour owner, Boy, has a wealth of knowledge about all details of the battles and strategy that occurred in Normandy. His personal affiliation with veterans provided a deeper connection and understanding of what occurred in 1944. We so appreciated the special treat of seeing the home that provides veterans an avenue to share their stories and heal. Overall it was an amazing tour that I will never forget. I highly recommend Neptune Battle Tours and Boy's expert guidance.
Our day with Boy touring Normandy was incredible. His knowledge of WWII events is so in depth and meaningful. Boy provided us with a very memorable and emotional day of understanding what happened in Normandy and all of France during the war. Highly, highly recommend hiring Boy while in Normandy.
Our tour with Boy was beyond our expectations. His friendly demeanor and easy going personality combined to make us so very comfortable. His knowledge of Dday history would rival any first rate historian. Beyond that his passion for veterans is clearly profound. Rating him excellent is really a disservice to our experience as he deserves praise much higher than that.
Boi was one of the best guides we have had anywhere on our travels. His knowledge of World War 2 history and the area was fantastic and he communicated it very well. We just wish we had been able to book another day with him so he could show us even more., but he keeps very busy. Now we know why!
Boy did a superlative job! Even though I had toured Normandie before, his knowledge added many things I hadn’t known. He showed me many things that I had not seen, or perhaps had overlooked. I spent 34 years in the U..S. military, and if it were my choice I would send all U.S. service members on this tour!
This was an amazing experience. Boy, who was our guide for the day, shared so much knowledge and individual stories and took us to places we would have never seen without him. It was emotional and touching and Boy was the perfect person to lead our journey through D-day history. I sincerely recommend Boy to anyone who is traveling to Normandy and is interested in WWII history
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Unforgettable Tour with Boy from Neptune Tours” From start to finish, Boy was absolutely outstanding. He was punctual, making everything stress-free from the very beginning. His friendly personality immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome. What really stood out was his passion for history you could tell he truly loves sharing stories and bringing the past to life. Every site came alive with detail and perspective that we never would have discovered on our own. His knowledge was unbelievable, and he answered every question with insight and enthusiasm. If you want more than just a tour, but an experience that leaves you inspired and enriched, ask for Boy. He turned a simple day of sightseeing into one of the highlights of our entire trip. Highly recommend Neptune Tours and especially Boy 5 stars all the way!
This experience exceeded our expectations! Our guide, Boy, was phenomenal! He brought amazing stories and places we had no idea existed. The tour was so much richer than I can explain but we would highly recommend this tour and tour guide!
Authentic...knowledgeable and caring. Boy was an outstanding tour guide. He is full of interesting tales and tidbits. He even made this bucket list trip of mine fun for my wife. So much history. Excellent. Thanks
Boy , our tour guide ( now our friend ) made this tour unforgettable in so many ways It was personalized to exactly what we wanted to see
This was the most moving experience. Our tour guide, Boy, was exceptionally knowledgeable about D-Day events, timelines, and personal stories of the men who were there. He was interested in any connections or family members we had who served in any capacity. Boy followed the itinerary as listed, but I’m sure if we had requested, he would have spent more or less time at any one of our stops. He chose a great place for lunch, we had plenty of opportunities to use the restrooms, and we never felt rushed. At the end of the day, we made one last stop that should have lasted only a few minutes, but an opportunity arose to hear personal stories about other veterans. Boy graciously allowed us over an hour to hear all this information!! We are so grateful to have spent the day with him and really feel like we made a friend. Thank you Boy!
Amazing, informative day. Interesting stories with a knowledgeable, considerate, engaged and respectful guide who knows all the road/parking/restaurant tips to get you in ands out efficiently.
Our guide, Boy, was fantastic! His knowledge, demeanor and affability were all a 10 out of 10! Really took his time with my father the whole day through.
Boy was very kind and informative. He showed us historical things that no one else has access to, and shared so many stories. He shared his personal connections to the war as well as veterans he has met over the years. It was truly inspiring and moving. I would highly recommend the experience to others wanting to learn more about the events that occurred during the Normandy Campaign of World War ll.
Our guide Boy was informative and patient with the young kids in our group. He was very detail oriented and knowledgable. He took the time to be thorough and provide us such great insight. I have been on a tour in Normandy before and this FAR EXCEEDED previous experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough. We all learned so much and it gave us a greater understanding and appreciation of the vast nature of the sacrifices. My kids have been talking about the tour and what they learned since they got back.
Our guides name was "Boy" originally from the Netherlands who saw the movie "The Longest Day" and wanted to to learn more and more about D-Day and the Invasion on 5 beaches on July 6, 1944. He was pretty knowledgeable, but had a very "set itinerary for "9 hours" and didn't ask many questions from us or what might "really interest us". We started out with The American Cemetery and Omaha beach which took a lot of time besides driving there from Bayeux. This was the best part of the tour. We then had a lunch break, "which we paid for" including the guides lunch. Then we went to a residential house that the German head officers occupied (now owned by a "friend" of the tour guides") where many murals were discovered. My husband couldn't wait any longer and used the toilet facilities, I didn't want to impose as neither did our son, so the next stop was Utah Beach and we really needed a toilet break. Boy pointed us to these "OUT HOUSES" and said we should use them. Ok, my son and I went to them and My jeans were totally sprayed from the water after my son used the toilet out house. I was furious, as I had asked for the toilet facilities in the museum which the guide said were no longer available. After visiting the beach and surroundings, we said we wanted a break and had a cool refreshment at the "cafe on the premises of Utah Beach", which "HAD A RESTROOM'! Why didn't the guide suggest this in the first place to us and we could have just bought a drink in order to use the pretty good facilities! This private excursion cost us near $700 without tip. We did give him 40 Euros (@ $48.00 US) which was really way too much. Not happy with this guide or tour, as this was a "ONE SHOT DEAL" so to speak and didn't need messing up. Also we booked a "top hotel" in Bayeux and Trip Advisor should have scouted everything out way better.
I can’t express enough how grateful I am that we chose Boy as our tour guide. This was my dad’s first time in Normandy, and he told me, “Son, you picked an absolutely fantastic guide.” Boy was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging throughout our tour. If you’re looking for a one-on-one experience with detailed historical accounts of the area, Boy is the absolute go-to guide. He even surprised us with a special treat that was truly impressive. Thank you so much, Boy, for doing what you do. My dad, brother, and I will always remember this experience.
Our guide, Boy, was everything you could hope for in a guide. Kind, respectful and knowledgeable about all aspects of Normandy, including its history, its people and the battlefields of Normandy during WW II. His tour was full of personal stories told to him by the veterans he has had the privilege of guiding over the years. We highly recommend this man and his company.
Absolutely amazing tour! Boy was tremendous. He was knowledgeable, patient and went over the top to make our day in Normandy an amazing experience. We had two young kids with us and he made it special for them as well. Highly recommend this tour with Boy as the tour guide!
Boy is a knowledgeable and passionate guide. He provided our group with an experience we’ll never forget. Very special.
It was a full day. Boy has an easy lunch spot picked out on the route and will take you there. Boy was also able to make some adaptations to our tour to show us a couple of specific areas of interest. He is respectful, knowledgeable and very kind.
Boy showed us an absolutely amazing day! He is incredibly knowledgeable — has all military history details down and knows his stuff! Apart from that he’s also a very sweet person - great to talk with and has some amazing family stories to tell. It was just my husband and I along for the tour and we felt so very well taken care of. Stops in order were: American Cemetery, Omaha Beach from Colville to Vierville -S-M, lunch stop, Pointe du Hoc, Angoville au Plain, Ste. Marie du Mont, Utah Beach. The hotel pick up was great and the hotel staff knew and spoke highly of Boy and his company. Would recommend Neptune Battle Tours to anyone!
Very informative and cordial experience Our guide could not have been better. I highly recommend this tour- not to be missed.
I was one of six on the tour, our tour took us through the battle fields of Normandy and the country side. Let me just say if we did not have this tour guide we would probably been ready to call it quits because it rained all day and it was a bit cool. Boy our guide made the trip so interesting we were able to forget the weather and just enjoy the facts our guide provided. He was unbelievable in knowledge and I could tell he loved his job as well as the subject matter he delivered to us. We are so very thankful we had Boy s as our guide!
My wife and I recently went on a one-day private D-Day tour with Boy of Neptune Battle Tours and could not have had a better experience. Our day began with Boy picking us up at our residence and we then spent the whole day visiting various sites critical to the D-Day landing. Boy was simply a wealth of knowledge. There was not single question he could not answer about the sites we visited, the war in general and even the various guns used by the Germans to defend their beach positions. It quickly became apparent Boy truly loves what he does and is personally invested in making sure his guests have the best tour possible. We cannot recommend Boy and Neptune Battle Tours highly enough for a private D-Day tour!!
An incredible day with an incredible guide. Boy is so passionate and knowledgeable about the United States' experience on those three fateful days in June 1944. His ability to convey in such great detail the heroism displayed by our young troops was simply amazing. He is an extremely good communicator and a really easy guy to be around for a full day's history lesson / sightseeing tour. I cannot recommend him more forcefully, you will not be disappointed!
Most informative tour I have ever been on. Our Tour guide Boy had incredible stories and passion. I highly recommend the tour.
If you want to see the battle venues, this is the tour. Spend a day with Boy at the actual beaches and learn the details of the US side of D-Day, and then take another day to visit the museums in the area. The information he will give you will really enhance your total experience. Highly recommended.
Boy went above and beyond to personalize my tour retracing my father’s footsteps from landing on Omaha Beach through the first couple of months fighting for St. Lo. He is extremely knowledgeable about the US landing and did an immense amount of research prior to my arrival to make this an unbelievable experience for me.
Boy was a great guide. He had so much information and has met with so many veterans and heard their personal stories. We gained so much knowledge and were very humbled by the stories. Until you are here you don’t really understand the magnitude of D-Day.
Boy did an excellent job customizing the tour to exactly what we had requested. He added a surprise stop along the way, which was both unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable. We would highly recommend Neptune tours to our friends and family members. What a memorable day it was!
For years, my wife and I had wanted to see the historic sights surrounding the D’Day invasion. We can’t imagine a better experience than what was provided by Neptune Battle Tours and its founder, Boy. His friendly demeanor and encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of the events leading up to D’Day and all that happened afterwards, was extremely impressive. Probably due in large part to his friendship with the founder of the Greatest Generation Foundation. That association allowed him to meet and become friends with many of the veterans that fought in the invasion. Our deepest thanks goes out to all of the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way for the freedoms we enjoy today.
My husband and I booked a full day guided minivan tour of the American D-Day beaches. It was outstanding and worth every Euro. We used Gold Beach Tours. Adrien was our guide and the person you want to request because he is doing what he was created to do! His English is excellent, he is quick-witted, polite, humorous, extremely knowledgeable, and ever so passionate about his subject. Besides his knowledge of the war, he had many human interest stories about individual soldiers that fascinated us. He enjoys people, is convivial, flexible and never boring. A+ Be sure to request him for your guide and find out from him how it is he actually became a guide. Pro tip: wear a heavier jacket than you think you’ll need. We were here in early April of 2025 and although it was sunny and the weather was a comfortable 63° the wind gusts on the beach made it feel uncomfortably cold!
Great guide. Wonderful experience. Enjoyed immensely. Took us to some special sites not open to the public.
This was a wonderful tour! Boy was the best tour guide I have ever had and I have had many during my travels. He is passionate about all aspects of D Day and has a wealth and depth of knowledge that is truly impressive. He volunteers with a veterans’ support organization and has many moving stories about the brave men who fought and died on the beaches and in the days afterward. And he loves the movie the Longest Day as do I. If you can ask for Boy to be your guide, DO IT!!
A fascinating and moving day long tour. Our informative and personable guide Boy ticked all of the boxes for us. Thanks for a great day.
This was a day tour around Omaha and Utah Beaches with a visit to the American cemetery. Boy was very knowledgeable and his passion for D-Day history was key to highlighting events through out the invasion. Recounting the stories shared by so many veterans was enthralling and so humbling.
Boy, our guide, was terrific. He was punctual, extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. Boy shared pertinent information in a timely manner and had many anecdotes to share.
