This was epic. Book in advance! If you can swing this, its so worth it. Our guide, Igor was so informative and took the time to let us know all about the different areas and how the communities were effected during the war. He was very thoughtful and made she we saw all of the things we had in mind and added a few he thought we would like. I will never forget this tour.
My son, husband, and I had an incredible time on the Normandy Jeep Tour, and we're giving it 5 out of 5 stars. Our guide, Adrian, was truly the best. His knowledge of the history was impressive, and he was incredibly accommodating. My husband wears hearing aids and sometimes has a hard time hearing with the wind, but Adrian was very considerate. He made a point to choose conversation spots with less wind, which we really appreciated. We highly recommend this tour—especially with Adrian!
Very unique, we were taken to areas off the beaten path. Our guide was very prepared and totally approachable. He was simply a good guy. Enjoyed every minute. Special time.
Most amazing and informative tour! It was incredibly fun traveling in a jeep that had been used in WWII! We got to see hedge rows up close! Our guide Adrian was so knowledgeable about all aspects of the Normandy invasion! I highly recommend this trip!
Our tour guide Julie was off the charts, amazing. My family cannot say enough good things. She clicked and adjusted to my family’s needs, as some fell ill and we had to readjust, and I have a bad ankle and couldn’t ascend Mt. St Michel so she took my kids, and my oldest son is autistic - we did not necessarily disclose this, but she was fantastic and rolled with all of it. She was so patient, EXCEPTIONALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE, and kind. Kindness goes a long, long way these days. Julie is just an absolute gem, and I cannot recommend her enough. Our whole family will remember her impact. Additionally, our WW2 jeep tours were just incredible, and we had access to sites and information about those who fought for the liberation of Europe, that we would have not had otherwise. Eric, “Big Bear,” was exceptional. If you really want the down low on the battles which we are not necessarily taught, and the heroes we don’t necessarily know, use this guide group. 100% I really cannot say enough about Julie and her exceptional level of service and knowledge.
Amandine was a very good guide. She had ann impressive knowledge of Second World War and the area of d-day beaches. We loved driving around in her jeep and hear about the big picture of the war and very concrete stories of individuals who made the stories come to life.
Highly recommend this service. David was good-humored and very knowledgeable about the history and his experiences volunteering with D-Day veterans, having their first-hand stories, added hugely to the experience. Traveling the back roads in an open jeep and seeing the Normandy villages and bocages expanded our understanding of the difficulty of the Normandy action beyond the beaches. Plus, the countryside is so very, very beautiful, the ride alone would have made it all worthwhile. It was a fantastic day!
Our guide “Igor” was Fabulous! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth. We saw so much and took away wonderful memories and pictures! Igor provided us with the rich history and information, while at the same time giving us moments to ourselves to explore and reflect on all that happened in Normandy. It was surreal to know we were driving on the same roads and through the same towns that my husband’s father traversed all those years ago! Igor also provided us with fabulous restaraunt and pastry recommendations and obliged our request to visit the Apple farm and acquire Normandy’s “famous” cider and brandy! We only spent a full day with Igor, yet he fueled all three of the days we were in town by being totally present with us that day; providing information, answering our millions of questions, and giving us the total flavor of Normandy then and now! Thank you for a FABULOUS day in a vintage army Jeep! We’ll be back!
Amazing tour. We had two jeeps. Thomas and Vincent were our guides and did an amazing job. Our 10 year old loves learning about WWII and enjoyed every minute of the tour. Dress warm. The breeze can be frigid.
It was a rainy windy and cold day and one would think miserable being in a military Jeep with open air on each side… However, the tour and experience was AMAZING!!! Thomas Bernard was funny, friendly knowledgeable and very passionate about history and Normandy. He made our day!!! We are so grateful for the historical information and the stories. Thank you, Merci’. 😀
Vincent was an excellent host, driver and lunch companion. Fascinating stories, a great drive through the Norman countryside, excellent lunch and he even kindly offered to drive us to the station, with luggage, at the end. We felt like GI's on leave! :D
Really interesting tour to all the most important sites of D-Day. Lovely old Jeep, it was such fun going down the country lanes and farm tracks in the beautiful countryside
The tour took us to all the interesting locations and have us so much more information and individual details than a guide book could. It was particularly good fun to ride in the Jeep and as it was a sunny day having the roof down was a bonus, also loved going down quiet roads and farm tracks to see the countryside along the way.
Our driver & guide Kate was fantastic... she arrived on time and did everything all day to make our day most memorable. Gave enough time, asked us if we had more , specific wishes. She has great knowledge of WW2 and history in general... really chapeau to her. Very pleasant and of course seeing the WW2 invasion sites in a Willy-jeep was an everkasting experience. Well worth the money.. we recommend everyone to go on this tour 8 hours .. and even longer seemed like 4 ... so interesting, time flies under the experienced and very nice guidance of Kate ! We saw all we wanted and as a great plus, the weather was bright and beautiful.
The British cemetery. I am glad I did the tour. It made history come alive for me. I am hard of hearing, but I had no trouble understanding the guide. He spoke clearly and loud enough for me.
We booked the all day Jeep tour and it was epic. Kate, our guide was extremely knowledgeable, well read and passionate about the history . Her family has lived in the area for 200 years and it showed. Her pride in the soldiers who gave so much in those dark days is truly in her blood. She brought us to lunch at a favorite restaurant and we had the best quiche we’ve ever tasted. Riding in the Jeep was so much fun and gave you a real sense of what it must have been like be there so many years ago. Kate brought history alive for us. Deeply appreciated the experience!
Arnaud was wonderful. Extremely knowledgeable and very informative. The Jeep was a fabulous experience. Very much enjoyed our day.
Arnaud was a terrific guide and a very interesting person. We heartily recommend him. And the jeep is a fun way to get around. It adds to the atmosphere of the tour.
Dean our guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and totally engaged. We learned more than one could ever get by going to a museum. A priceless experience!
Gold Beach Tours is Outstanding. Spending an afternoon with a tour guide that is local, experienced and passionate about the subject is worth far more than the price paid for the tour and will leave you with an understanding, appreciation and empathy for the participants that can be assigned to a scrapbook or movie. Simply put, if you want to live the experience as closely as possible, I recommend Gold Beach tours. Our guide Katell represented the topic faithfully and accurately and added layers of detail to the places we stopped and visited that will never be found in books and movies. Her passion for the topic at hand was amazing and awe inspiring and her commitment to telling the story left a strong impression. Obviously, there have been dozens of films made about the subject and more books than can be listed about the events of Normandy in WW2, but an experienced local guide such as Katell can lay the groundwork for seeing it up close and hearing about the details that books and films simply don't have the time to cover. Though I felt that I had read every scholarly book on the subject, the value I gained in listening to Katell give us the tour was immense. I have visited WW2, and resistance sites in Denmark, Holland, France and Germany and this experience tops them all, with the greater lesson being the impact that was made upon the local population. If you think you're even slightly interested in the subject, spoil yourself and see it first hand and pay a guide like Katell to give you a tour. The experience will be like none other and it will give you a lifetime of memories and appreciation for the sacrifices made by all that experienced D-Day first hand.
We had an awesome day with Eric on a classic jeep tour. He was able to answer all our questions and kept the tour not only informative but entertaining. We saw everything we wanted to and more. Riding in the vintage jeep was a blast and a great way to see the sights. We were the envy of other visitors.
Great visit and jeep tour from Batterie Longues to Omaha beach visit some off-road part. Fantastic and friendly team with great knowledge
Sophie did a great job. Knowledgable and funny and got us off first thing in the morning. Only 7 people in van and we were first bus at Pointe du hoc and at the cliffs. She knew how to move you along to be able to see everything yet have 15 minutes at each stop to explore on your own. Good experience and I would use her and them again.
Jeep Tour D-Day – Holy Mother Church. Two beautiful hours with explanations on the little stories that make the Great. A (de)tour along the crossroads with a guide (father of Jean Baptiste) very pleasant, attentive and perfectly aware of the events. Tour operator very serious, recommend without hesitation.
We spent a great day with Adrien a guide at the top of the top! Very complete explanations at all stages, a sharing of history and emotions. Thanks again to you Adrien for this wonderful day of exchange!
An amazing experience. Norman, I thought I knew everything about D-Day and I learned a lot. The immersive side gives goose bumps. I was able to introduce this part of our story to my husband and my 6-year-old daughter and each one left with information to match. Thomas our passionate guide has taken us on a journey through living and moving time. Huge thanks to him.
We booked this excursion as part of our professional activity for a group of about forty people (adults and children) and this activity to be unanimously among the participants. The jeep drivers are very professional and friendly as well as the guide. I highly recommend this excursion
Everything was perfect! Welcoming to jeep rides. We were a group of 36 people and we are all unanimous that it was a memorable experience! All the guides were very friendly and especially passionate! Thanks to this excursion we were able to learn a lot about history in a fun way! Thank you for the Welcoming and your kindness
Superb full-day tour of the sights of Omaha in the must-have vehicle: the Jeep Willis. Our passionate and exciting guide and pilot Katell made us live an unforgettable day. Always attentive and inexhaustible details on the history of the places and the chronology of events. Important also for us: guide passionate about the vehicle she drives with great dexterity. Again thank you to Kattel for everything she taught us about this dark time. (Bikers)
Great guided tour retracing the history of Omaha and its surroundings. We had full explanations and time to visit each site at our own pace. Do not hesitate, great guide with a lot of knowledge who tells you the story with authenticity.
