This is a well thought out museum, with significant, authentic artifacts. It helped us understand D-Day much better. You won't be disappointed.
This museum is great value for money €9.90 . Well worth a visit . The reenactments outside are spot on . Thoroughly enjoyed our visit , would recommend to anyone .
Tucked away behind an industrial building is an amazing museum with great interaction and exhibits and the best gift ship I’ve seen so far Also saw one of two Luchs
Stop 2 of the day and another excellent museum. Plenty to read and ideal for older children who want to learn about D-Day etc. The visiting jeeps, lorries etc we’re the icing on the cake.
This is an amazing collection that could rival the top museums across France! The tour takes you through an amazing array of historically accurate displays and dioramas that have been curated by some of the best people I have met! A must go to in Normandy!
We visited this museum in November 2021 and were given a tour by the owner, Patrick. The museum is very interesting and has some wonderful artifacts and exhibits from the 1940s. Everyone was very kind to us, especially when they learned we were Americans visiting. I would highly recommend this museum as a place to visit as part of your trip to Normandy.
We have visited just about all of the museums in this part of Normandy, and consider this to be one of the best. Really well laid out, great displays of life during the war from both sides (civilian and military) and even opportunities to sit in vehicles and be a part of your very own tableau (which we loved). Compared to some of the more expensive and more highly advertised museums, we think this one is more inclusive and comprehensive, quiet and (although tricky to get to if you miss the exitt!!) one of the few really worth the visit.
We saw this place from the road as we were making our way to Cherborg ferry port. Plenty of parking and some great outdoor vehicles including a Sherman and a Thunderbolt. The museum entry was 9 euro which seemed a bit steep but inside were some terrific exhibits and I thought well worth the money. A nice airfield themed cafe on site and all in all a great place for a few hours stopover.
Fantastic, wonderful scenes set up which look very realistic. Lovely and clean surroundings with extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Lots of information and original artefacts. Several old vehicles outside. Well worth a visit.
Lots to see and info panels to read. I did try to sit and watch some people talking about their D-Day experiences on a TV screen, but the sound was too low and had to compete with sound effects in the scenes nearby. I should have asked for the volume to be increased, but didn't. I looked round the shop, but didn't make use of the restaurant.
We went to the Normandy Victory Museum so my 12 year old son could go on the tank ride and try out the simulators. The tank was not working and several of the simulators were not working. The ones that were working were boring and geared towards younger children. The exhibits inside the museum were just OK. We would have passed this up if we knew the tanks and several of the simulators were not working.
Every year, I return with great pleasure, even alone. A kind of pilgrimage constantly renewed by always fascinating exhibitions. Every time it’s the same thing; I tell myself, "I will pass by" and in the end, I end up going this afternoon!
Visit in the form of concrete echoes of family testimonies about this period that marked the life of our Elders.
Very well documented, period objects in quantity and incredible conservation. Staging accompanied by such moving testimonies. Congratulations for this work of memory!
Great very interesting my 10-year-old son loved it. Full of very clear explanation of very old vehicle. I recommend the visit worthwhile.
This is a beautiful museum that gives pride of place to allies, Germans and civilians alike. Lots of material exhibited and staged, touching testimonies. The audio guide accessible via all qrcodes is a real plus. I don't think I should miss it.
The must of the local museums run by real enthusiasts. I return there every year to see the new exhibitions ("Gabin", "Women in War...). A first encounter with the famous Enigma machine! Guaranteed effect of hedge attack between 2 exposure sites. The sets are surprising reality. Good job. See you soon.
Magnificent museum where we are located from the entrance plunged in the 40s with the Impression of meeting with our grandparents! Civil and military life are very well represented. A crush on us!
What a great museum. The coolest we've ever seen. Lots of veteran testimonies with their respective photos, scenes of life reconstituted and a section dedicated to women - for us never seen in a museum Award more than correct Great shop and more affordable Award than in other museums. Dodge ride just great. What more can I say? Museum must do and go eat a bit next door
Excellent museum. The welcome is very friendly. The reconstructions are very realistic and plunge us into the reality of those who lived through this period. Both children and parents enjoyed the opportunity to get in the jeep inside the museum and take souvenir photos. The tribute to veterans is very well done. Unfortunately we do not have time to take a ride in Dodge, but we will if we go back.
Very good museum on the WWII, a rich collection, from uniforms to vintage vehicles.. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition dedicated to veterans, which gives a really human dimension to the visit!
Something different for once. A fun tour through Normandy from May 1940 to the liberation in 1944. Various displays and scenes of everyday life, such as a Norman living room and a display of everyday things. And of course the scenes of battle. With light and sound. Also very interesting for children and very nice that it is also a bit more interactive. You can hold a machine gun, wear a helmet and even sit in the jeep. There is also plenty to see outside in terms of vehicles. Moreover, the museum is built on a site of a former WWII American air base. We had the feeling that they are still expanding, so we will come again in the future.
Honestly a very nice discovery! The reconstructions are very well done. I highly recommend this museum. Big plus: the Dodge tour with Dylan as guide. He explains very well and immerses us in the atmosphere of the battle of the hedges. Thanks again for this immersion
Already visited many museums during various trips to Normandy. First time at this museum and it is really worth it: very thorough explanation, beautiful decors, spacious, not too busy and a very welcome addition to the existing museums!
We did the complete 40min route of the Dodge and tour of the museum. I don't usually rate it 5 but everything here is great. Our guide Dylan, friendly and able to convey his passion. He takes the time to answer all questions. Then when they return from the walk, visit the museum and thanks to the QR codes, children will find audio easier than reading. It’s also very useful for dyslexics or those who have forgotten their glasses 😊 The reconstructions are stunning and the films gripping. I will come back with great pleasure with my grandchildren. Thank you to the entire museum team.
It is a very nice museum, you walk through the streets of the city during wartime. Lots of cars and tanks and even a jeep you can sit in.
superb visit everything is well done , of all the landing museums we did this one is the best , we feel good with these reconstructions super well done , hat .... I recommend it 100% Ah I forgot the JEAN GABIN exhibition to see absolutely
Many scenes reconstructed very realistic, the quality of the mannequins is remarkable down to the smallest detail.
Excellent, museum, very complete, detailed explanations , material , objects ..etc... some info and showcases on French prisoners of war in Germany; Jean Gabin exhibition currently.
What a moment! The permanent exhibition is rich, and very well presented. I loved this museum, it is for me unmissable. There is a lot of exciting little detail. What about the exhibition on MR Gabin, being a fan I would not be objective. But this exhibition is moving, I have learned and seen many beautiful things about this man. I also made the dodge tour on the steps of the 101. It was epic but very good. The guide , the ride, the vehicle, only good memories. The very friendly Welcoming, the museum very well make us want to do it again
Very nice discovery of this museum during our stay in Normandy. Very complete museum with superb and truly realistic dioramas. A quantity of objects, military equipment of the period highlighted. In addition at this magnificent moment exhibition on the role of Jean Gabin during his engagement in the armoured division during the war. Bonus a nice little shop. Very Good Welcoming in addition. Must see.
Very nice museum with lots of things to discover. The films we discover throughout the visit are very moving and also show us the human and material consequences of this war. Not disappointed with this visit since I heard about it.
Just beautiful. The meticulous work done in reconstructing the war scenes is to be commended. Sound Mood looks like it. A thought for all those who have lost their lives in coming to save others eternal respect.
Welcoming very kindly , museum of a wealth , of a great variety, both on everything related militarily to the war and the lives of the inhabitants, we were really surprised and we were delighted by the “walk” in the vehicle, for nearly an hour, with our driver - passionate and exciting guide, , explaining everything in detail, photos to support. The landings, the hedgerow battles etc... We had a great time!
Magnificent museum, very well represented.Second visit once with our grandson(11) whose war of 40 was on the school program and a second time with friends who found this museum beautiful and very well done.Very playful and allows to understand well. The scenes are beautifully reconstructed.A big bravo for all the work done to give us the best
Beautiful museum! The vehicles outside are still in very good condition, young and old can settle there for a superb photo shoot. The different scenes inside the museum are very well reconstructed, with sounds and lights for some. Lots of details to discover. Smaller rarely seen elsewhere: it is possible to handle weapons and helmets as well as sit in a jeep with many accessories for souvenir photos of all beauty! The moving photos and testimonies of veterans along the way are poignant. We recommend this tour accessible to the whole family 👍🏻
Very nice museum, time flies very glass we spend two hours there very simply, admittedly there is a lot to read but it does quietly.the part "role of women during the war is very interesting bravo and continue on this momentum
Beautiful museum that traces scenes of life , films testimonies of children who lived through the war . The only museum that talks about women during this war. Outside there are war vehicles but also civil engineering vehicles. A very warm Welcoming.
We did a dodge wc ride with the kids at the top!! The great museum for both adults and children. To do!!
We came to this museum on the advice of a friend. It is very playful, the different scenes of the war are well represented. It is ideal for young and old: virtual games, the course of the outside fighter and especially the tour of the chariot not to be missed. Excellent
A singular museum that will not remain a favorite for me. He knows how to put himself at all levels, whether you are a neophyte or a connoisseur, with a rare attention both for his military scenes and his scenes of life. Must see.
super museum , immersed in the millenu of the streets , the everyday lives of civilians in streets more real than life!
To visit absolutely, this Museum is really fantastic. Lots of staging, super interesting for children.
We have just returned from a visit to the Normandy victory museum and we have all been amazed by the quality of the scenes depicted, which immerse us both in the everyday life of the Normans and also with the soldiers during the Second World War. Our children particularly liked the handling of objects, the ability to get into cars, and even tanks and armored vehicles. The quantity of objects is impressive. A museum like no other, to see absolutely.
Museum very interesting especially for teenagers where there is the possibility of touching certain objects and getting in certain vehicles , and the tour in armored is the top of the tour . I recommend for enthusiasts
For the second time we brought a class to this museum and it's still as good. Lots of interactivity, very rich showcases with an interesting staging and outdoor activities (fighter's course and GMC tour) that have been very successful. Thank you again.
We had already visited many museums and this visit really added something. Good design of the museum, great information. Very friendly welcome by Dutch speaking hostess who helped us plan further visits in Normandy. Compliments.
An exciting and well thought out museum, with a very smiling Welcoming and a great souvenir shop. Very informative thanks to the many explanatory panels, objects in the windows and mannequins of soldiers staged. From the funny war in 1939 to the Liberation in 1944, through the lives of prisoners in Germany and the role of women in the army, with a particular light on the famous "battle of hedges" that blocked the American advance for almost two weeks, at the cost of many human lives. A museum apart, don't miss it!
Magnificent museum that stands out from the others by the presentation of very realistic scenes. Thousands of objects and many characters that will delight children and their parents. Simulator and armoured car route are also offered. A wonderful visit that must not be missed under any circumstances!
