Went with three friends for the full-day tour. We’re really into WWII and stories, and this did not disappoint at all. The local food was also great : cider tasting and oysters with local producers ! You feel very free but also well looked after at the same time. Honestly a great experience, especially with friends!

You will be taken to discover Omaha Beach — the most symbolic shore of June 6, 1944. A place where history meets the wind, and silence says more than words. As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be adjusted to include Canadian or other Allied landing sites instead if you prefer.
Take time to discover American Cemetery. Endless rows of white crosses overlooking the sea. A moving tribute to those who never came home.
Take time to have lunch and enjoy 2 to 3 local tasting stops during this full day tour. Depending on the season and your tastes: fresh oysters, farmhouse cheeses, craft cider...
A quiet seaside village with a powerful legacy — the remains of the Mulberry artificial harbor still visible today. Smart tactics, visible history.

I would highly recommend this tour of the World War II sites in Normandy. Not being much of a history buff this tour didn’t really catch my interest. However the rest of the group I was with wanted to take the tour so I went along. I was quite blown away at how interesting a skilled guide like Liv was able to draw me into this historical era. She brought the era to life with vivid details and even with a sense of humor that made the history feel very human in a way I never experienced in a history class. I especially enjoyed the adventure of riding in the vintage Range Rover and tasting local Normandy specialties – the local cheese, apples, cider, and calvados were a real treat. Please don’t miss this excellent tour!
My wife and I had a last minute opportunity to visit the UK and wanted to visit The Normandy beaches. Our US travel agent found us a Viator all day tour which fit into our limited timeframe. We were greeted by Liv on Monday morning at our hotel for our trip from Caen to Normandy. We allowed her flexibility in the days schedule which turned out to be above our expectations. Our stops included 3 beaches (British and 2 USA) including the US cemetery. She provided background on each location and allowed us time to roam on our own. We stopped for a great lunch at a beautiful garden hotel and had a wonderful time exchanging personal stories. We enjoyed hearing of Liv’s life behind the scenes. She has been to all 50 states in the US and we have 5 to go. Her English was very understandable without the French accent. She wrapped up our day with a cider and cheese tasting which was a perfect end to a somber day for us learning about D Day and the Allied efforts against the Germans. Liv gets a 5+ from our experience.
First visit to Normandy and the invasion beaches for me and my wife — this tour exceeded our every possible expectation. Mathieu was the perfect host, integrating D-Day with cultural/gastronomy stops along the way, a perfect blended experience. Riding in a vintage Range Rover an added benefit. The Normandy region is beautiful and peaceful — this trip made us want to return for more. We give this tour our highest possible recommendation!
What a fantastic way to explore Normandy and the D-Day landing beaches! Matthieu picked us up in a beautifully restored vintage Land Rover. It was spacious, comfortable, and full of charm. The tour offered the perfect balance between historical visits and delightful culinary stops: savoring oysters fresh from the producer, enjoying lunch in a stunning garden, and tasting cheese and cider atop a cliff with a breathtaking view. These breaks not only showcased the region’s flavors but also provided time to reflect and process the moving experiences of the beaches and cemeteries. Matthieu is an outstanding guide: knowledgeable, engaging, and generous in sharing his insights. This tour was truly memorable.
I absolutely loved the tour I took with Mathieu. From exploring breathtaking castles and walking along the stunning coastline to standing in the heart‑wrenching silence of the American Cemetery, every moment felt meaningful. Sharing fresh oysters and a beautiful picnic along the way made the day even more special. I left feeling deeply moved, humbled, and amazed. If you’re visiting Normandy, don’t miss this experience — it’s far more than a tour; it’s a profound journey through history, beauty, and humanity.
A day to remember – not just for the places we visited, but for how personal and thoughtfully curated the entire experience was. Mathieu picked us up in a beautifully restored vintage Range Rover, which already turned heads and set the tone for something special – but the real highlight was him. What followed wasn’t a checklist of sights, but a meaningful journey through the history, culture, and landscapes of Normandy. Mathieu isn’t just incredibly knowledgeable about D-Day and the region’s past – he also brings you to lesser-known, deeply moving spots you’d never find on your own. What we loved most: between the historical sites, we made stops at small local producers. Nothing staged or commercial – just honest encounters, great conversations, and delicious products like cider and cheese, straight from the source. Lunch was another standout – a hidden little restaurant with lots of charm and seriously good food, far away from any tourist crowds. In the end, it was this mix of insight, personality, and passion that made the day so memorable. If you want to experience Normandy in a deeper, more human way – historically, culturally, and gastronomically – this tour with Mathieu is absolutely the way to go.
I thought I had posted a review but cannot seem to find it: This is an EXCELLENT service provider! Mat is a local with a thing for old cars and a deep love of Normandy, its food and its war heritage. We had an absolute blast and didn't feel like tourists at am but more like friends of friends. Don't hesitate and book this now!
An incredible day from start to finish. The Range Rover made the ride super comfortable, and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Visiting the D-Day beaches was powerful, and the food & cider tasting added a perfect local touch. It felt personal and well-paced — never rushed. Highly recommend if you want a premium but relaxed way to explore Normandy.
Charming walk in this Normandy full of history. We had a really pleasant time, accompanied by a passionate and caring guide who adapted to the whole family and made us discover all the secrets of this fascinating place. Between captivating anecdotes , beautiful landscapes, and tasting breaks full of charm in the French we lived a memorable experience that we recommend without hesitation!
Great family experience on the landing beaches! Mathieu is a passionate and very pleasant guide, who makes the tour lively and accessible to all. The Range Rover ride is original and comfortable, and the picnic added a real moment of conviviality. An enriching and pleasant outing, which we recommend without hesitation!
A day discovering the landing beaches very original where we learned many anecdotes with our guide who listened to our expectations. The tasting breaks were also a very nice surprise. I highly recommend this tour:
An amazing experience with Insiders! Perfect also for children! We were able to discover the area differently, away from the crowds. Everything was perfect: delicious meals, top organization... I recommend 100%!
We celebrated a wedding anniversary with our 2 adult children in this way and it was a wonderful day off the beaten track. Mathieu was able to listen to us so that everyone’s interests were taken into account: the result was a very good mix of rediscovery of landing beaches and tasting stops (especially an excellent farmer’s cider) all in a large and comfortable vehicle. Recommended!
We took this excursion as a couple in July and it was one of the highlights of our stay in Normandy. The comfort of the Range Rover has made travelling very pleasant, especially in the middle of summer. Our guide was passionate and exciting – he made the D-Day story lively and accessible, with captivating anecdotes. The pace of the visit was perfect: poignant historical sites like Omaha Beach or the American cemetery, interspersed with gourmet breaks with tastings of local products (cheese, cider, etc.). A beautiful way to discover both the history and the flavors of the region. We highly recommend this experience to all couples (or small groups) who want to combine culture, emotion and taste bud pleasure!
What a beautiful tour! Personal guidance from the charming Mathieu with lots of fun local knowledge. You really pass beautiful places!
We were very lucky to experience a private day tour in Normandy with Mathieu, and it was just unforgettable! The day began with a stylish ride in a Range Rover, which made the experience instantly special. Mathieu was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and provided us with exciting stories and Insider tips not found in any guidebook. His passion for the region was clearly noticeable and made the day even more enriching. What made this experience so special was the personal attention and flexibility to make the day according to our interests. Mathieu has taken a lot of time to understand our wishes and to tailor the day perfectly to us. I can recommend this tour to anyone who wants to discover Normandy in an intimate, authentic and well-organized way. It was a really great experience I would book again anytime!
Beautiful day with Mathieu, the children loved , it's moving , beautiful discoveries and anecdotes about the area. A treat
This private day tour was one of the most beautiful experiences of our trip to France! Even driving in the stylish Range Rover Classic was a real eye-catcher – but what really made the day special was Mathieu. He is not only an excellent guide, but a true local Insider with great knowledge, heart and enthusiasm for the region. We visited important D-Day locations, but also lesser-known, very moving places that would never have been discovered without him. In between there were several stops at small producers – from cider to cheese – all very authentic and far away from mass tourism. Also the lunch (a charming little restaurant with us) was great and fit perfectly into the day. We particularly liked the fact that Mathieu took time to get to know our interests in advance – the day was completely tailored to us. Not a standard tour, but a real, tailor-made experience. If you really want to experience Normandy – historical, culinary and human – then this tour with Mathieu is a must. 100% recommended!
Our day in Normandy was just fantastic! Our guide Mathieu, led us through Normandy in a very charming and competent way. Highly recommended!
I was strongly recommended to visit Normandy Insiders to discover the region, and I was not disappointed! With my husband, we were able to choose the places we wanted to visit, which allowed us to live a tailor-made day just for ourselves. It was really great! Our guide was great, with plenty of anecdotes at each stop and a very warm Welcoming throughout the day. Go with your eyes closed! Thank you again for this great time 🙏
