Eric was the perfect tour guide. He was prompt and very accommodating. We loved how he brought the whole experience to life. We would highly recommend GBC to anyone wanting a private tour.

Excellent tour with our very knowledgeable guide Alex. We would highly recommend this tour to others wanting to learn more about Canada’s contributions to D-Day.
Don’t miss it! We toured Omaha/Utah prior to this tour and it was a great way to pull everything together and demonstrate how DDay was a huge team effort. Our guide, Eric, was outstanding and provided a treasure trove of information in an understandable and logical sequence. His “before and after” photos made you feel like you were really there and his map helped us grasp the bigger picture easily. Thanks, Eric, for taking us on another great Viator tour!
A very enrichment and moving experience. I learned many interesting facts thanks to Kate's knowledge of the subject She is also a quite nice person. Besides, I liked that we were a small group because it made the event more personalized. I definitely recommend both tours I signed up for.
Our tour guide was Kate, whom I’d say is a quintessential guide who has boundless knowledge with respect to DDay and its beaches. Our day was spent seeing all the important sites that relate to Juno beach, and all subsequent battles. Our tour was fully comprehensive, and feel we didn’t miss out on anything whatsoever. It was well paced, but not rushed. Our guide Kate is most likely the most knowledgeable person to answer all your questions on the history of the region (beyond WW2). If you wish to have the best guide in Normandy, look no further then her Our day was like no other!
Our visit extremely good and informative Our guide was extra excellent He was very well informed and we felt very comfortable with him! We would recommend to have him as a guide to our friends and family!
Alex was sooo knowledgeable and passionate about everything WW2. A lovely mix of sitting and gentle walking, hearing stories and seeing sites.
Wow! Kate was an incredible tour guide. I wish she could be my guide all over the world. I travel frequently and take many tours, and she is by far the best guide I have ever had. She was professional, exceptionally knowledgeable, kind, respectful, and attentive throughout the entire experience. Kate continuously shared fascinating information and insights, making every moment engaging. Even when people asked WWII questions that were only loosely related to Normandy, she provided detailed and thoughtful answers with impressive expertise. Her tour was carefully planned to minimize traffic and avoid crowds, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Her English was excellent, clear, fluent, and easy to understand. She also speaks several languages, which reflects her remarkable background and knowledge. With a grandfather who served in World War II, she brought a personal connection to the history that added depth and meaning to her explanations. If you are considering a Normandy tour, I cannot recommend Kate highly enough. I booked Gold Beach Company through Viator. She truly made the experience unforgettable.
A very memorable and moving experience. Our guide Matthew was excellent - knowledgeable, full of insights and very friendly.
Our guide Matthew brought the day to life for us. His love of history, and his interest and knowledge of WWII in particular, shone through as he shared stories and information throughout the day. His knowledge level was impressive and he answered all of the group’s questions. This small group tour format was perfect and well worth the price.
Eric was a fabulous host. Extremely knowledgeable with a great sense of the importance of these sites for Canadians.
We spend a great day with Alex following Canadian route from Juno beach towards an in land advancement. Alex is a great storyteller and a knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot and highly recommend this tour!
Great day trip. We would highly recommend. Tour guide was so knowledgeable. Some very moving sites. A Canadian must do!!
I was really nice to get the Canadian perspective. Eric was really informative.
Mathieu was an amazing guide/host…highly knowledgeable, approachable and thoughtful. My wife and I were fortunate to be booked alone with Mathieu for a full day Juno Beach experience…it was an amazing and moving day for a couple of knowledge-thirsty Canadians. Mathieu started with a high-level explanation of the D-Day operation and then drilled-down to the Canadian activities at Juno Beach and beyond. Mathieu will anticipate and then fully answer your questions. I cannot imagine there being a better guide to gain a full understanding of the importance of the Canadian contribution and the price paid for that success.
Hi Phillipe D: I have a question I hope you can answer. I want to book a one day Canadian tour to Normandy. I want to take a train from Paris to Bayeau for the tour. What time does the tour start? one piece of information states the tour starts at 8:30 am, which the train would NOT get me there on time. The next information states the tour starts at 9:30am. Which is correct? Please reply. Teresa Webster
What an amazing informative guide we had Eric was passionate and informative. He was enthusiastic about history and acurate sharing of his knowledge. Was a great tour of a horrible time in history. We had a great experience with a guide who truly worls to honour DDAY , the role it played in WWII and the impact of the ALLIED forced has on this day and weeks there after
I cannot overrate the tour that we had of the Canadian D Day Experience. We had 8 people on the tour, and one excellent guide, Matt. The passion he displayed for the topic, the interest he took to understand our own personal experiences, and his wealth of knowledge made the day. There was only one issue - the tour ended! Thank you so much for a carefree, entertaining, knowledge building experience. I would highly recommend the tour!
Our tour guide was very great and had a vast knowledge on WW2 and the events that occurred during D-Day! There were only 7 of us on the tour, all of us from Canada, which made this tour feel even more personal. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a deeper dive into D-Day.
We wanted to concentrate on British and Canadian roles in D-Day and Alex gave us a tailor made day out concentrating on a few key areas whilst giving us the bigger picture. Excellent
Highly recommend this tour, our tour guide was wonderful. It was very informative and emotional to be on that beach and visit many battle sites around d-day. My only regret is I didn't get our tour guides name but he was great.
Kate was our 2nd tour guide for D-Day experiences. She arrived promptly to pick our group up. She was professional, enthusiastic, and personable. Kate shared she was born, raised and living in the Normandy area, giving a more personal touch to her knowledge. Her driving skills were excellent. Her verbal skills were fantastic. She gave great details for the tour sites we visited and for the region. The "best" personal touch was Kate helping our friend find canned foie gras, he was mandated to bring home for friends. Our day with Kate was beyond exceptional. THANK YOU
Amazing experience with Kate! Small group of people- one group of 4 from PEI and us from Alberta. Kate took us to key points in the Canadian involvement on Dday- informative and emotional day. Every Canadian should come here at least once.
My sister and I lucked out being the only ones to sign up for the tour on this particular day The girls picked us up at our hotel Villa Lara in their car and off we went to the various sites Kate knew so much history it blew us away We weren’t everbored and very comfortable in their charge We had a nice lunch stop at an incredible bakery So chill We really enjoyed the day and learned a lot
I seldom leave reviews anywhere unless I have super experience. We spent an excellent day with Eric and two of his colleagues. Apparently our family has the honour of being the first on the 2025 Canadian Tour season. Very informative and eye-opening. It was great having a bilingual Canadian guide providing the Canadian experience. Only regret is not being able to stay a few extra days and experience more. Highly recommended. Andre and family from Ottawa.
We met Eric, our tour guide, at the pick-up point, Place du Quebec and headed towards the Canadian D-Day beaches. Eric was extremely knowledgeable and well prepared. In addition to his formal presentation (a binder with maps and photos), he had a number of stories and observations that enhanced our visit, and always had time to answer our questions. We spent the morning visiting the 3 Canadian beaches and the Juno Beach museum. The museum includes some artifacts from D-Day but also includes a great deal of information about Canada (1939-1945) and its overall involvement in WWII. After a brief lunch we followed the paths of the Canadians as they moved inland toward Caen. The tour terminated with the tragic events of the massacre of captured Canadian troops by the 12th SS Division at Authie and at the Abbey d'Ardenne. Eric provided background information at every stop and then allowed us time to take photos and to explore the plaques and monuments. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the Canada's contribution to the Normandy invasion.
This was a highlight of our trip to France. Eric was a fantastic guide, explaining in great detail the history of the Canadian role during DDay and of the Juno beach assault in particular. To witness the places you have only read about, with Eric’s guidance was truly memorable. This is the tour that anyone interested in DDay and in the Canadian contribution in particular should take.
We had an excellent tour with Alex who not only took us to Juno Beach and the museum, but really helped us to understand what the Canadians contributed to the Normandy battles and the cost of that contribution. He figured out the route and battles my Dad participated in which has inspired me to respect my Dad’s service even more. It was one of the most meaningful days of my life.
This was a great tour about the Canadian D-day operation. Our guide Kate was great, and had a lot of information. She answered any and all questions we had. I would recommend booking this tour.
Kate our tour guide did an excellent job detailing the history, strategy and the Canadian soldiers triumphs and set backs. we would definitely recommend this tour and tour guide!
Comprehensive Alex was an excellent tour guide. Knowledgeable and affable. Relatable with history of individual soldiers during the battles
The tour with Eric was very interesting. He did a great job describing the battles and challenges the Canadian soldiers had on d-day.
Superb tour guide Eric. Well grounded in military history spread over the first two days of Canadian advances in Normandy in June 1944. Friendly demeanor and kept a group of 5 moving along without feeling rushed. Of particular interest was walking St Aubin and learning how Canadian troops advance against well entrenched Germans. I’ve watched tour groups around the D-Day beaches over the past dozen years. This tour was an excellent entry into the process for me.
Wonderful well organized tour with Eric. He is knowledgeable and passionate about Juno Beach. Well worth taking this tour!
This tour is a must as a Canadian visiting the area. Worth absolutely every penny, it was incredibly well planned and thought out. Our guide Eric was top notch.
I am so grateful for my Canadian DDay Tour with Alex. It surpassed all my expectations. A full day packed with stops to visit the important Canadian sights (Juno, Canada House, Juno Beach Centre, Commonweath cemetary, monuments, and buildings) along with Alex's knowledge and passion for the Canadian and British soldiers' battles and experiences, made the journey unforgettable. He answered all my questions, and provided insight and perspective along with stories and maps. Thank you Alex!
Our tour was incredibly informative and moving. The guide was fantastic!!! On a five star scale, he deserved a seven. Extraordinary day!
Our guide cared enough to find out where our dad landed and took us there. It was a very meaningful tour for us. Our thanks to Alex and your company for providing this service.
The Canadian DDA tour it was amazing! Lots of significant sites visited. Alex knowledge on Canadians contribution to the war was outstanding! Alex was very knowledgable and friendly. Definitely request him as a guide !
Alex was our guide and he was outstanding at giving us a historical account of all the events that made Normandy top on our wish list for places to see and things to do on our vacation to Europe. He was excellent with our entire group and found us a wonderful place to have lunch, and was informative and entertaining and gave us so much value for our money and our time. I wish I had treated him to lunch but hindsight is 20/20. My husband and I travelled and toured with our two teenage boys who also enjoyed the day immensely and deemed it as a highlight of our trip. I left the day a better person than I started it so thank you Alex!!!
Informative knowledge professional fun and efficient tour guide is outstanding we highly recommend Eric to anyone
As two Canadian Veterans, visiting the Canadian DDay sites on remembrance day was very important to us. Eric did an amazing job of taking us back through time and making us feel like we could see it all happening. His personal insights and stories helped to tie it all together. Great tour! Wonderful guide! Best part of our trip! So glad we did it with Eric instead of attempting to see the sites on our own. We got so much out of this experience. Thank you so much!
We had Eric as our guide and I can honestly say he has to be the best! He was so informative and answered every question we had with so many interesting facts! Loved that he personalized it with stories of individual soldiers! He also went above and beyond with us when we mentioned an uncle was buried in a cemetery that wasn't part of our tour, he drove us almost an hour away to see it! And also dropped us off at our hotel!! In our opinion he is the best guide ever!!
OUTSTANDING!!! Eric was a superb guide passionate about the Normandy invasion and it reflected in his tour presentation. He also took advantage of unusual opportunities as the arose like access to a church that was usually closed and an invitation to visit inside the house on Juno Beach. A job well done. Thank you Eric.
We had an amazing two days with Kate — she was the best guide we could have imagined! She was so knowledgeable, friendly, energetic and patient. Our two little girls adored her too! Thank you Kate and Gold Beach Company for making our time in Bayeux and the surrounding area so special.
It was a very interesting and emotional experience. We went to the Juno Canadian museum, took the 30 min tour on the beach, went to Canada House and the cemetery. Should be on every Canadians list of places to visit in their lifetimes.
On May 18th 2023 my wife and I were given an amazing, in-depth tour of the Canadian / Juno Beach D-Day sites. Katie was our driver/Guide for the day and excelled at her descriptions of the events of that momentous day. She graciously offered to customise any part of the day to suit either us or the other gentleman from Edmonton. She provided many visual props and knew exactly when to explain more or to give us time to absorb the enormity of the various locations. Especially at the Commonwealth War Cemetery and site of the prisoner executions. Katie's family history added to the obvious links that she generously shared. We think that she should be offered Honourary Citizenship! Thanks from Marcia and Rob
Absolutely the best tour ever. We were fortunate to be the 2 on tour. Our Guide did a great job so that we could "feel" the trauma of the soldiers.
Kate was such a great source of knowledge and more importantly, understanding. We had a set of expectations prior to the day , and left the day with a life long impact.
Great moment of history, if only history teachers could explain how Eric would be more interesting! The program was great and well suited to our family.
