2-hour Walking Tour Of Mont Saint-michel

The tour was very interesting and informative. Honore did a great job walking us through the history of Mont Saint-Michel. I would be happy to do this tour again. I only wished we went inside as part of the tour. Although the tickets for the abbey were included in the price, the entire excursion was taking place outside around the abbey. However, it might be due to the fact that the place is so big and there is a lot to see inside and outside. There is only that much you can do within the two-hour tour. We had a great time.

Fantastic experience. Homero was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable, not just about Mt St Michel but also French history. The Mount is amazing. Highly recommended and more than worth the cost.

Honore was a very knowledgeable guide! We managed the tour but we did log 30 flights of stairs. This is not a tour for the hill challenged. As he said we are at MONT saint Marie.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Mont-Saint-Michel. The smaller group size made the experience much more personal and enjoyable, and our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We especially appreciated the interesting historical facts shared throughout the tour, which really brought the history of Mont-Saint-Michel to life. A wonderful experience and a great way to explore this incredible place!

Our English speaking tour guide was not available so the company combined tours and the guide did it in both French and English. He did a great job managing both groups and we had a lovely time. The tour was informative and well-paced. The island itself was quite crowded. Be warned - the paths and stairs are uneven and plentiful so keep that in mind.

Honoré was an absolute pleasure and made our experience at Mont Saint-Michel so memorable! He gave us a wonderful tour of the surrounding area and his knowledge of the history and region was incredible. He was funny, kind, engaging, and made the entire tour so enjoyable. Excellent guide. Funny , entertaining and knowledgeable. Takes you to places that you may miss. His story about visitors not expecting steps was very funny.

We loved this tour especially going to the less busy entrance and sections of the island. Our guide met us at the visitor center then took us on a walk to explain the tides, the history and interesting stories. He actively engaged our teenagers and was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the island. We learned about the residents, the kings, the monks and how the island became the amazing place it is today. The tour through the less busy areas is something everyone should do, I know we wouldn't of explored these areas on our own. The tour ended with tickets to the Abbey and we were left to explore on our own. Highly recommend!

Nothing was ever said about the hundreds of steps necessary to reach the Abbey. I bought tour tickets that included Abbey admission. Two of our group are in their 70's and unable to climb many stairs. They were not able to reach the Abbey, and now I have to reimburse them for the price of the Abbey admission. I must now pursue Tripadvisor for reimbursment the unused tickets! Also, the guide spoke english with a heavy french and african accents and we could not understand him most of the time.

Honoré is an extremely personable guide who blends sharp storytelling with the odd fun fact and a lot of good humour. The route taken is very well designed as it avoids a lot of the crowds that otherwise swarm the island. This results in a more intimate experience of the place. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone thinking of visiting.

A bucket list dream come true… Our marvelous tour guide Alice of Avranches walked us up the hill and through the history and mysteries of this magnificent monument to human faith and achievement. Our weather was perfect and the views both above and below were spectacular. Although it was very busy during this holiday season tour, Mont St. Michel did not disappoint…

Mont Saint Michel is visually stunning. It was worth the drive. The hike up to the abbey was tough, especially on a very hot day. Our guide stopped along the way to give people a chance to catch their breath while he shared some of the history of the place. The abbey was not nearly as ornate as other Catholic cathedrals we have seen, but the views from the outside porch were impressive. We ate a late lunch at a restaurant on the way down. French air conditioning leaves a lot to be desired. Walked out on the sand that surrounds the mont and watched the tide begin to come in. Had to wait for 20 minutes or so in a long line to shuttle back to the parking area once we were done, and no AC in a very crowded bus. Bring your walking shoes when you visit Mont Saint Michel and plan on a shower as soon as you get back to your hotel.

Wonderful stories and history

The Guide was friendly and engaging but did not pay attention to the time restrictions on the access to the treasured Abbey @ Le Mont Saint Michel. We had paid tickets but he kept us too long as nd they closed the Abbey at noon and we're not allowed in!

We had such a phenomenal experience on our 2-hour guided tour of Mont Saint Michel with our guide, Honoré. He is such a wealth of knowledge and the way he told us of the history and lore of the Mont/surrounding area was engaging, interesting, and fun. We both enjoyed our time and learned a lot - a win-win! The people in our group ranged in age from 10 years to 75 years, and everyone was engaged. It was a very hot day when we did our tour, and Honoré took care to find our stopping points in the shade to keep cool. I would absolutely love to do another tour with Honoré, and for us, his Mont Saint Michel tour is a must-do.

Honore was an excellent tour guide! There are a lot of stairs but worth it. Incredible experience to be standing in history. We were there close to low tide. You can do a separate tour at low tide and walk out onto the sand surrounding the town. If you want to see water around the town, go closer to high tide. We had a great meal just inside the parking entrance called La Ferme St. Michele. Pork medallions (like pulled pork) and lamb (shoulder) chop. You have to pay to park-max 22€ to go to Mont St Michelle and this restaurant. You can book a hotel to stay on Mont St Michele. Food at the restaurants on the island all looked same from their menus.

Make sure you are able to walk a lot of stairs, many are also steep. Try and get there as early as possible to avoid the crowds. There is ample parking.

The guide was very nice. I was not aware of quite how challenging the climb would be and my husband was not able to do the tour

He shared good stories and left us right at the entrance to the Abbey at the end of the tour. He was personable and kind! We had a very small group -- just us two and one other person -- so it was a great experience.

Alice gave us such a fun and engaging tour of Le Mont, we learned so much, she is a natural story teller. She knew all the perfect spots to pause to learn about some of the history of this beautiful place and took care to find shade as it was a particularly hot and sunny day. Merci beaucoup!

Well worth it to learn about life on Mont St Michel for the monks and villagers from the 11th century to more modern times. Honore was an engaging tour guide and wonderful storyteller.

This tour gave us a nice overview of Mont Saint Michele and the history of the place. We also learned a bit about the water tides and how they affect the island. Tour was outside of the Abby them we explored the Abby by itself. It was an enjoyable and educational experience.

Lots of steps. Lots of schlock touristy shops. Lots of poor "restaurants". Lots of people. Go early as possible.

Highly recommend this tour. While you can walk around on your own, you’ll miss out on the fabulous history of the island and Abbey. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Such a beautiful, historic site that everyone should visit when in France.
