It was a great tour and Laurence was an amazing guide. We had free time in each town and learned a lot from Laurence.

Itinerary
Driving to our first experience: Grace Village. Start your tour by visiting Grasse, listed in November 2018 on the list of "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" adopted by "UNESCO", for its know-how linked to the perfume industry. Stroll through the old streets of Grasse known for the workshops of the tannery industry in the Middle Ages. Then treat yourself to a visit to the historic "FRAGONARD" factory, one of the 60 companies that manufacture fragrances and essences, to understand the process of changing flowers into perfume. The rare flowers of the Pays de Grasse (lavender, myrtle, jasmine, rose, wild orange blossom, mimosa) make Grasse the world capital of perfume.
After this fragrant break, head for this small village "GOURDON" perched at 758 meters, between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea, discover this medieval fortress and its beautiful castle built in the 8th century by the SARAZINS. Discern the strategic advantages, (the control of all "the valley of the wolf", the Mediterranean coast and the access to the Alps), to understand the fight for the control of this fortress, between the medieval powers until the German armies during the World War II.
After this dizzying session in the heart of the "Gourdon" eagle's nest, let's head to Tourrettes sur Loup; Provencal and medieval village. Explore the: (lanes, vaults, stairs, porches, lintels, etc.) of this medieval village and discover how the houses are built up to the edge of the ravines used as ramparts to protect the village from enemy invasions, (Germanic tributes , Huns, Sarazins, Savoy, the Grimaldi, Count of Provence…). Visit the Saint-Grégoire churches built in the 12th century. Admire and photograph "the violet", the emblematic flower and symbol of this village.
Once in Saint Paul de Vence, travel in the footsteps of the great artists of the 20th century; Painters, writers, sculptors, poets, who have made this village a high place of pilgrimage for artistic creativity, because the setting is idyllic! Take advantage of the position of Saint Paul de Vence high on a rocky outcrop located between the Alps and the Mediterranean, to take great photos. The vocation of this village as a military fortress fueled the greed of the medieval Provençal and Italian powers to control this village. Discover and walk on the ramparts that protect this fortress, erected under the order of King François 1er. The "la colombe d'or" inn is an emblematic hotel restaurant, it houses masterpieces by artists such as: Picasso, Matisse, Miró, Modigliani, Braque, Fernand Léger, marc Chagall Explore this flowery village which has become one of the high places of tourism, especially for its numerous art galleries. Wander the alleys; Admire the carved stone houses. Back home.

This was a very fun tour of beautiful medieval villages. Nabil was an excellent guide, very friendly and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately our tour was cancelled due to a huge storm so this review is strictly for the guide. I had several questions before I booked my tour and the guide and I texted back and forth a few times. He answered all of my questions plus some and I was genuinely looking forward to the tour. Sadly a storm blew in and the guide called to let me know he had to cancel due to potential flooding. He offered a couple of alternative dates but we couldn’t make them. If I ever get back to Nice I would not hesitate to book with this guide. Thank you for your excellent service!
Laurence was a fabulous guide- very friendly and knowledgeable. Had ample time to wander in each village. Would thoroughly recommend
Such a great tour! Very knowledgeable and not one thing I’d change about it.
Negatives Not sufficient time to actually get a feel for the places Too much discourse, felt like a lecture at times Lot of repetition Van to crowded. Three in front was very uncomfortable Positive The second and third were very interesting and felt authentic. The others were more about selling stuff Some very beautiful scenery
We would highly recommend. Our host Laurence provided us with a very informative and fun day. Pick up at our hotel was on time.
This excursion was amazing. The guide was so passionate about the sites that we visit. It was a very relaxing tour. Beautiful locations. Would recommend highly.
We had such an incredible experience visiting Grasse with its perfume factory and the three ancient towns outside Nice, Our guide, Laurence, was delightful. She gave us so much history and perspective on the towns and the area. Plus, she was so personable that she made everyone feel comfortable and part of a cohesive group. We will never forget this experience!
Absolutely amazing. Saw some incredible landmarks and learned about every one of them.
Laurence was a very enthusiastic and inspiring tour guide. We were particularly impressed with her energy, her bright smile, her obvious love of the areas we visited, her spoken English, and her wealth of knowledge. This was the best day of our 8 days visiting Nice….mostly because of her. She is truly a gem in her field.
The tour is well organized, Nabil, our guide was ahead of schedule, he showed during the whole trip professionalism and made the whole group feel like we knew each other’s from before! His knowledge about the tour itself, his guidance and recommendations were spot on, not to mention his overall knowledge about France general history ! Highly recommended this tour. But definitely Nabil made the difference!!
This was the best tour I took in my 12 days of travel in France. Nabril was the best tour guide I have ever had on any tour I have ever taken. He had a passion for the history and explained things in a way that could be understood and kept us interested the whole trip. He was amazingly thorough in explaining in each village how to get around the town to best experience the history. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visited the medieval villages around Nice.
My tour with Nabil of Hire&tours was absolutely THE BEST TOUR I have ever been on. Just a gentleman and so supremely knowledgeable about the ancient villages Everyone on the trip for so happy with personal attention, thorough discussions on history and the people who created and lived there. Stories really came alive. I can’t thank him enough. I used viator for travels in Scotland a couple of years ago and their service is really excellent. Sorry to be so long winded but it will be forever that o recall the day we had. .
It was a quick day for sure but enough time in each village . Laurence was always available , gave great descriptions of the sites as well as what to avoid . Her recommendations were spot on and it was obvious she loved her job .The only critique was that we didn’t stop at Fragonard factory and went to another instead .
Very impressed with our driver Yousef and host Laurence, both professional and courteous with clear communication and directions and instructions. A good balance of free time to explore and information to guide you around and experience each location.
Lawrence (she) delivered the perfect balance of humor and essential information on one of the best tours we’ve ever taken!!
This tour did a great job of balancing travel time in the van to time at each stop. Nabil our guide was a former school teacher and was a wealth of knowledge about each location and the region in general. We had a great time and the only knock is that my wife and I got a little car sick as there was lots of driving on windy roads in the lower alps getting to some of destinations. The towns we visited were varied and each had their unique character. Grasse was the home of perfume, one was an artist village where Chagall spent the end of his life, one was a former major trade route stop. Nabil had great information on each one and did a great job of giving us information on the way so that we had time to explore things on our won at each stop. The vistas and architecture were incredible. Highly recommend this tour.
Laurence was fantastic! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable about the places we visited but her personality and vivacious energy made for a wonderful experience we wont forget! She is a jewel! Thank you for a perfect day!
Beautiful views of the mountainside areas with lots of historical sites. The guide was very knowledgeable
Excellent tour. The best tour guide. Well organized to see 4 different places. Worth taking it. Loved Laurence lady 🙌🏻
A interesting and unforgettable experience. We'll repeat it whenever. The guide was very documentated..
Well run. Recommend to anyone. On time good commentary. Spoke English well and good historical review.
We had such an excellent tour with Laurence! She is very knowledgeable about the towns and also gives plenty of time for self exploration. A wonderful time!
This is a great way to get a snap shot of a few French villages in one day. Keep in mind that there is limited time to fully appreciate the villages and that you can't see everything. Our guide, Laurence was very knowledgeable and accomodation. She arranged for a close pick up from our cruise ship and was a careful driver. Her directions were clear we had sufficient free time to explore. The scope and cost of this tour was far superior to what the cruise company offered.
This was a wonderful tour!! Very well planned and perfectly paced. There were only 8 of us in the tour!!
Laurence was absolutely amazing!!! I went on three tours while in France and Laurence was hands down my favorite guide! She was so kind, energetic, and passionate about her work. 100% go on a tour with Laurence. It will be the best tour of your life!!!!
It was a great way to explore places where it’s not reachable by public transportation such as in Gouldon. On the way here, road is very windy and steep, and Laurence drove us very carefully. We ate delicious crepes and violet ice cream. In Grasse, we bought couple of perfume. No one pushed us to buy anything. Seeing Chagall ‘s grave in it self was worth the whole trip. Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. She was very sweet and had a great sense of humor. We were picked up and dropped off near our Air bb. Four villages in a day was alot as I had a jet leg, but Laurence made our day such a memorable day!!!
Great itinerary and guide, plenty of flexibility to explore the sights at your own pace, highly recommend
Our guide Laurence made this tour extremely informative, interesting, and special. From the beautiful sights (in the villages and on the road), to the information about the area’s history, and the recommendations for free time activities, we enjoyed ourselves for the duration of the 8 hour tour. We learned and saw things that I don’t believe we’d have otherwise. Highly recommend!
First Laurence our guide, she is excellent! This is a well balanced itinerary and gorgeous everything. Sunday booking was a quiet day and smooth travel.
Our guide Bello was very helpul and informative, we visited 4 places and they are all beautiful. It was the right pace, we have enough time to enjoy the sites. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. Totally recommended
Laurence is a fantastic tour guide. She’s so thoughtful, knowledgeable, friendly, energetic and put everyone at ease. The next time I visit the region, I will definitely book another tour with her. She also sent us a bunch of super helpful tips after the tour, so she really goes above and beyond. It was delightful to visit all the different medieval villages and learn about their history. Overall this was a highlight of my trip to Côte d’Azur!
Great excursion. We experienced 4 exquisite hilltop villages efficiently, seamlessly, and effortlessly in 8 information filled hours skillfully navigated by Nabil.
Nabil was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide, we learned so much about the history of the area and these towns. Wonderful day excursion, the 4 towns we visited were very special and it added to our appreciation of this part of France.
Wonderful experience touring the villages, The perfumery was lovely! Incredible views and the tour guide was amazing!
It was a really nice trip. Two vans traveled together and between the two drivers we were given enough historical background about what we will see in each village. We had a good amount of time in each village with the exception of St Paul Vince. We’re allowed an hour but the trip description mentioned 2 hours.
Our guide was fantastic! He was always on time, was a good driver, had a wealth of knowledge, and seemed genuinely concerned with the (small) group’s welfare.
This tour is exceptional! Laurence is a lovely and knowledgeable guide - with a wonderful sense of humor and joy, as she takes you through these charming villages. I highly recommend the tour and particularly, Laurence as your guide. You will spend a fantastic day touring places off the beaten path.
Nabil and Laurence were an excellent team guiding and driving in two separate vans. We could focus on the incredible views and absorb a great deal of history. The hour long stops in each village gave us time to walk around at our own pace. Their lovely personalities combined with good vibes of our group of 20 made for fun and a very pleasant day. Had the van been a bit bigger we would have been less cramped. It was a very hot day- not easy for anyone.
An excellent guide with lots of enthusiasm. The guide picked us up at the exact time and dropped off at the same location. Nice historical perspective.
excellent tour! 100% would recommend. informational. beautiful. fun!
Nabil is very knowledgeable, customer service focus, good driver, able to deal with difficult situations, and provided exceptional service!!! Highly recommend doing the medieval villages with him.
Our guide Nabir was excellent. We learned so much about the history of the region. A++ Tour Guide.
Lawrence was amazing. Great English, huge passion, and full of life. Quite rare for a French person. Highly reccomend this trip! Beautiful villages and nice stop quickly at a perfumerie.
Laurence was incredible!!! This tour was one of the best we’ve ever taken. Don’t think twice. Her love of country is so evident, she will make you fall in love with the south of France in a whole different light.
Nabil is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He explained about place we visited. The villages were really beautiful. It was an excellent and enjoyable day.
The tour and guide were great! The guide really knew his history and was very engaging. Only issue we had was the pick up spot we chose and was written on our ticket was not honored. We had to catch a cab which was not easy that day and pay an additional $25 for the ride to the new meeting area. The guide was kind enough to drop us back off at port. Once again the guide and tour were great but my interaction with Viator was frustrating to say the least. Customer service is nonexistent and all the do is read from a script. A lot of walking but highly recommend the tour just be ready for last minute changes
It was a great tour, just what I expected and wanted. I would recommend it to everyone. Thank you for a great day!
I would like to point out that the times listed in each village total 9 hours, and the tour is only 8 hours. Driving time is not included. After the mandatory perfume factory tour, we had 30 minutes in Grasse, an hour and 15 in Gourdon, just so there was enough time to eat lunch because not much is there. 50 minutes in Tourettes and one hour in St Paul. The tour was not late starting, Those are the real times in each place.
