Hotel Aston La Scala

Very disappointing condition – hotel badly needs renovation Unfortunately, our stay at Hôtel Aston La Scala was very disappointing. While the staff were okay and our interactions with them were fine, the condition and maintenance of the hotel itself were far below what I would expect from a hotel of this category. The room and bathroom showed significant signs of wear and poor maintenance. There were dark spots and staining around the ceiling and shower area that appeared consistent with mold or moisture damage. Several fittings and fixtures were loose, damaged, worn, or simply looked like they had not been properly maintained for a long time. The sink also did not drain properly. After brushing our teeth, the dirty water and toothpaste residue would remain sitting in the basin and only drain away much later. This was unpleasant and certainly not something I would expect in a hotel at this price level. There were also numerous smaller maintenance issues throughout the room and bathroom — damaged edges and surfaces, poorly finished joints, worn fixtures and generally tired-looking interiors. Taken individually these may seem minor, but together they gave the impression that the hotel is deteriorating and overdue for a serious renovation. The biggest issue for me was the cleanliness and condition of the bathroom, particularly the apparent moisture/mold staining. A hotel room should feel clean and well maintained, and unfortunately this one did not. The staff were not the problem here. The problem is the physical condition of the property. The location may be good, but based on the room we received, I do not think the condition matches the standard or price the hotel presents itself as offering. The hotel needs substantial maintenance and renovation before I could recommend staying here.

It’s a very outdated hotel. It’s certainly not 4 stars. We paid for the top floor room with a balcony. The view was amazing from the room but at night too much light was let in from the sign of the hotel and there were no curtains in the room. There was supposed to be an automatic cover for the window but it fell down the first night we were there and the hotel never came to fix it even when we asked. The location is great. The bathroom was spacious. The decor in the room was very bad, so the outdated general condition of the hotel and the bad decor take away from the experience. Overall it’s just fine, but we wanted something better for our stay in Nice.

Excellent hotel in a great location. Welcoming and informative staff. Comfortable room but a rubbish view! . Hairdryer not great. Pool area very small but most welcome in the heat we had. Moon Bar restaurant was excellent..delicious food and great service.

Good hotel fantastic rooftop bar Our rooms and stay were perfect in every detail. This is a fairly large hotel with a lot of rooms that I gather from other reviews are not all equal. We requested superior rooms with a park view and could not have been more pleased with the rooms, facilities, and staff. Sitting across from the park, close to the flower market, and walking distance from both old town and the beach, the Aston La Scala hotel is in the best Nice location I can think of. The breakfast is very complete and the rooftop Moon Bar is amazing. The staff are friendly, the drinks and nibbles are good, and the view over Nice and up to the Colline du Château are fantastic. Highly recommended. We have stayed at the Aston La Scala hotel twice now and it has become our favorite in Nice.
