What an amazing day we had in Nha Trang, learning not only how to cook some delicious Vietnamese food but also a little bit of what it is like living in this part southeast Asia. We learned how to weave sleeping mats at the home of a local family, toured their family living quarters and watched Dat, our chef and guide, shop for our cooking ingredients at the local market. Our cooking class was held in a lovely facility, tucked inside a huge garden, that allowed everyone to watch, learn, and participate in making each dish. Dat was a master at giving us enough details, that everyone, even those who rarely cook, were successful. The highlight was sitting down together at the large outside table and enjoying the fruits of our labor. Many thanks to Dat and his helper for creating such a wonderful experience for us. Would highly recommend this tour!

We had an amazing day from start to finish. Dat picked us up and took us to the market to choose our ingredients and gave us lots of interesting history of the area and cultural information. He welcomed us into his beautiful home and introduced us to Vietnamese cuisine. We had choices of what to make and everything was so fresh and tasty. We will be able to go back to NZ and make the dishes ourselves now. We would highly recommend this fantastic experience. Thankyou Dat and your lovely assistance. We also loved meeting your little doggies. 😄
It was a really cool and memorable experience. From the very beginning everything felt warm and relaxed, not just cooking but a real dive into Vietnamese culture and atmosphere. The place itself was amazing, a quiet garden, beautiful surroundings, everything calm and refreshing, like a break for the mind. Big respect to the teacher Dat, you can tell he truly loves what he does and explains everything in a simple and clear way. After this, you really feel confident that you can recreate the dishes at home. And his dog also added a nice vibe, making everything feel even more friendly and cozy. Overall, it was not just a cooking class but a great time that will definitely stay in memory.
It was an incredible, truly unforgettable experience that will stay in my memory for a lifetime! From the very beginning, the atmosphere was warm and engaging, and the class turned into a real immersion not only in cooking but also in the culture, traditions, and religious aspects of Vietnam. We were absolutely amazed by the magnificent, peaceful garden, the absolute silence, and the stunning natural beauty surrounding us. It was such a pleasure to learn from such a attentive and kind teacher! Dat gives the impression of someone who truly loves his craft and knows how to share it with others. Everything was explained so clearly that I feel confident these dishes can definitely be recreated at home. And a special delight was his adorable dog, who made the whole experience even cozier and more joyful. This was not just a cooking class, but a bright, vivid, and very inspiring event, a memory for a lifetime. Cooking together with a Vietnamese chef is a great honor and a true pleasure!
Great experience with Dat. We shopped at the market, visited family home and cooked simple but very tasty local dishes. We highly recommend the tour!
We went to a little market just outside Nhs Trang without any tourist. Then we visited a typical Vietnamese house and a fabric of noodles. Finally, we cooked the food bought by Mr. Dat at the market in his beautiful house which has a large dedicated are for cooking in a peaceful garden.
It was a great experience to visit the markets to buy the fresh produce. There are so many different vegetables and fruits which I have discovered. Chef Dat explained some history of Vietnam and how the locals lived. He catered the menu to suit our preferences and OMG the flavours in the different dishes were delicious. Had a great time and recommend this to anyone who loves Vietnamese cuisine
Chef Dat is charismatic and engaging. His tour of the local market and authentic local businesses was very interesting. His home was warm and inviting - a great place to spend the afternoon. The food we made is the best vietnamese food we have had on our holiday. Highly recommend.
The most authentic and delicious experience that you can get in Nha Trang. The best! Not just cooking class, but also culture of the local people. We loved it!
We had an amazing day cooking and touring the Vietnamese countryside around Nha Trang. Dat was an incredible host who looked after us from the initial pick-up to drop off. The tour around the market was a particular highlight! We can highly highly recommend this amazing day out
Whole day was excellent. Lovely man very passionate sharing his knowledge and expertise both in the local industry and, noodle factory, authentic family owned. Picked up from Nha Trang hotel in clean suv. Spoke English well, easy to understand. Kitchen / cooking demonstration area spacious and clean. Definitely if you are looking for a local cooking demonstration, then this is the one. Very informative, relaxed and has a great garden and koi. Say hello to Spurs, gorgeous Bischon ( 7 months old at writing ) Enjoyed everything about the day Thank you Mr Dat
We had a great experience with Chef Dat. Taking us through a local market and selecting the produce for lunch that we made with him was a great highlight. Definitely worth the time if you have it in Nha Trang!
Cooking with Chef Dat in Nha Trang was a highlight of our trip to Vietnam. We loved his approach to the day, which involved putting the choice of menu items in the hands of the participants and then shopping a village market for fresh ingredients. He involved everyone in the cooking, which made it fun and engaging and gave us all a sense of accomplishment. All the while, Dat shared interesting information about food and life and thoughtfully answered our questions about Vietnamese culture and cooking. I can't wait to try some of the techniques at home.
Excellent cooking class! Dat was great in showing us traditional Vietnamese living and how to cook springrolls, pho soup and lemongrass chicken. He was kind to our three kids and tought us well. Can highly recommend!
It was amazing experience! Complete immersion into Vietnamese daily life and culture through cuisine.
A wonderful experience with a delicious meal that we have cooked. Well done! The purchase of the single components we have bought on a local market away from Tourist paths.
Dat was a wonderful host collecting us from our hotel before taking us to a local market which was fascinating to wander around. He then took us to his beautiful home (and met his super cute puppy) where he showed us how to make BBQ pork ribs, chicken and rice and spring rolls all of which were made in sauces or marinades prepared by us. What an incredible feast and made so easy under his guidance. Dat is a great storyteller and we would highly recommend this experience!
Superb day with Dat, collected as arranged near our hotel and brought to a local market, coconut shop, and noodle manufacturer as described by many others before returning to Dat's beautiful home and cooking school. There were just us two, which is the minimum booking for a demonstration to run. The demonstration area within the grounds of Dat's house is beautiful, peaceful, and even has a Japanese fish pond whilst the cooking area is well laid out, spacious and spotlessly clean. Dat is a talented chef with very good english and skillfully but patiently demonstrated the 3 dishes to us and also getting us very involved prior to us cooking and then eating our fare. Dat is a very nice and patient man with excellent interpersonal skills. We had a lovely day and a very flavoursome meal. I would definitely recommend it for young and old.
Great day with Dat. Picked up in comfortable transport, strolled through the local market and visited a local family. Cooked up a traditional spread in a beautiful kitchen with the ingredients we purchased from the market. Dat was a wonderful host and made for a great experience.
Amazing day. Booked last minute and not disappointed. Markets were very interesting and cooking with Chef Dat was such a treat. Beautiful location; very tranquil. And we even got to meet Spur the puppy!
Amazing day out, Chef Dat is an outstanding host, not only did we get to make three local dishes, we were timely picked up in a very clean vehicle, visited a local residence to see how local Vietnamese people live, visited a local rice noodle making factory along with a coconut processing stall and finished with a trip to the local market to buy the produce for the actual cooking class, which are held in the fantastic facilities. One can only ddescribe the whole experience as outstanding.
Dat was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable of local history and culture. We were shown how coconuts were processed for different products, how rice noodles were made by local producers, the fresh produce at a local market and got a glimpse of how a local family lived and worked. Dat invited us into his beautiful home and showed us how to cook authentic Vietnamese spring rolls, bo la lot and chicken curry. It was fantastic.
very informative and knowledgeable. Chef Dat was very friendly and informative. would recommend this tour to anyone
Brilliant class !!! Dat is lovely and began the tour by showing us some of the real Vietnam we had been missing. Local market to buy fresh ingredients and then onto cooking. Dat helped us cook up a feast. Great surroundings, lovely host, great English speaker.
A very informative and enjoyable experience, from wandering through the markets to cooking the produce. It was a blast.highly recommend
Such a great experience! From picking out the ingredients at the local market to learning how to cook. The family had a wonderful time immersed in the culture and learning from chef. Highly recommend.
The cooking class was everything I hoped for. It started with a seamless pickup from our Hotel, followed by a visit to a local community where we visited small family businesses, and learnt how coconut milk and fresh noodles are made then walked over to the local market for fresh ingredients such as vegetables, fish and meat that Chef Dat purchased for the food we were going to prepare and cook for our lunch. The last place we visited was a local corner store where we were invited into their home for a glimpse of Vietnamese family life. The cooking school was located at Chef Dat’s, beautiful home, as a group we had picked 3 meals to make, spring rolls, Banh Xeo and Pho the class takes place in his amazing outdoor kitchen, the recipes where easy to follow and all three meals were delicious, beer, soft drink and water was available at no extra cost and the other 3 couples made for a fun day out. Highly recommend this experience.
Get away from the tourist areas of town and see the real Nha Trang. From the market to the cooking class the tour exceeded our high expectations.
We had a very enjoyable time with Dat. He was very helpful to get us a taxi to meet up with the rest of the tour when we were delayed getting off our ship.
There were apparently not enough participants for the first date, so the organizer canceled. OK, so I booked the next day, my request for pickup from the hotel/time was answered. So today I was in front of my hotel on time... in the end I was standing there like an idiot. It was only my query at 9:14 that triggered an action: without an answer or information, only a chargeback was made. What is missing here is motivation, customer orientation, and even warmth, let the guy do what he wants.... From my point of view, I can only advise against booking here, this kind of behavior is probably symptomatic of the entire event. Yes, and now (!) I can try to plan my day completely anew....
Chef Dat truly loves teaching tourists about his culur and cooking traditions. . He is an excellent teacher. He has many years of experience in cooking and teaching cooking. He is kind and answered all of questions. He asked us all what we wanted to learn to make. This does not usually happen in a cooking class. He took us to the neat, fish, Vegetable and fruits market and showed us produce and different proteins that the Vietnamese use in their traditional dishes. I highly recommend learning from Chef Dat.
This cooking class had it all. We started off being picked up, and what a shock it was just two of us so already felt very personal and knew was a good day. We went to a wet market to pick up our ingredients. So interesting to see all the sellers and different fresh produce. So different to our western country markets. We saw coconut being processed for oil and milk, how the locals live and work, and finally rice noodles being made and even got to cut some ourselves!! The cooking class was exceptional. Easy to understand what to do, even for beginner, food was amazing, and plentiful. Very fulfilling knowing we did it all ourselves! Would recommend to anybody in a heart beat.
It was a nice experience visiting the market and the rice noodle fabric with an local. He really explained everything well and knows a lot about the ingrediance of the dishes we made. He changed the menu on request very spontaneously and the taste was very nice! We had a wonderful experience with a kind chef.
Fantastic experience with chef Dat. We loved that he showed us around his home village where he grew up letting us see the real Vietnam. We visited a mat weaving factory, a noodle factory, 2 typical Vietnamese homes and stopped at several markets which were full of fresh local produce. Dat purchased the ingredients for the food we were going to make for lunch. We then went to Dat’s beautiful house and he taught us how to cook 3 meals in his wonderful outdoor kitchen. We learned more about Dat and how he started out on his journey of tourism/cooking. Thank you again Dat. We loved the experience, the beautiful food and your great company. We will try to replicate your recipes when we go home.
We had a lovely day with Chef Dat. He greeted us at the port, there was some confusion over the start time, but he made every effort to make sure that everyone was able to join. We travelled to a market and then proceeded to his lovely outdoor cooking area where we made three lovely Vietnamese dishes. He ensured that everyone had a chance to participate and then we all had way more to eat than we could have imagined. It was one of our favorite experiences in Vietnam.
Real confusion over start time of tour - some told 830am whilst we were told 930am. Too much time spent in village meaning cooking was rushed. Was disappointed that we did not cook our own- some people monopolised the bits we did get to do
Our day with Dat has been the highlight of our trip! He provided an excellent tour of Nha Trang and then guided us through cooking an outstanding meal. His English is excellent and he is so genuine. We highly recommend this tour and class.
Absolute highlight of our trip! Dat is excellent and so genuine. We loved the tour and cooking class. Don’t miss taking this tour and class!
Most interesting visits to market; coconut processing; rice paper making; mat making Which was top by learning some secrets of vietnamese cuisine and a great lunch!
What a fantastic tour! Chef Dat and his team took our family on a most memorable experience. We travelled to a village market, a noodle maker, and a local shop and listened to Chef's Dat share his knowledge of regional and national Vietnamese gastronomy and culture. We then visited his home and learnt how to cook three delicious dishes. We help prepare all aspects of the meal and learnt so much - techniques and tastes - and then enjoyed the feast. I would recommend to anyone who is travelling in the region to make this part of your journey. We will be back!
I enjoyed seeing my husband cook with excitement. Kitchen was spacious and beautiful. Food was delicious.
Dat, our chef, picked me up from my hotel and took me to see coconut processing, shopping in the market for our ingredients, a typical Vietnamese home and how noodles are made. We then went to his beautiful home and garden where he has the cooking school. The food we cooked was amazing and he explained everything perfectly. It was a wonderful experience.
My boyfriend and I had so much fun & we learned a lot of things about Vietnam! The food we made was so delicious. Worth every penny! Thank you chef Dat!
Thank you Dat - This was a great cultural experience learning about the beautiful Vietnamese people. How they produce there raw ingredients and make the product that supplies the local markets. It's a journey that tells the story of where the food comes from as well as a window into the lives of the people ( the producers) and the market place where it is sold through to the cooking techniques and finally eating & tasting all the fresh flavours together in a beautiful surrounding of an outdoor country kitchen at the cooking school - It's hard not to fall inlove with the people, their families, the culture and their amazing humbleness & tolerance of foreigners. They have a quietness & strength about them, so polite & respectful of others. 10/10 must do in Nha Trang for couples , young people of whole families we loved it
Chef Dat is passionate about using local produce and his love of food. We were collected from our hotel on time and had a very informative morning learning Vietnamese cooking. The flavours and taste was exceptional Highly recommended for anyone who loves food and make it simple.
We looked at several options before leaving Australia for our trip and are so glad we went with Dat. He’s the most gracious host and teacher. The visit to the market and a couple other spots complemented the couple of hours spent really learning and not just following instructions. An absolute gem of a day. We would definitely sign up again!!!!
The driver was very friendly and helpful. The shopping for the goods was very easy and fast. He explained a lot us we went. I liked how we got to Sample some of the products.
we had a great time on this tour. From the shopping at the market experience to coffee in a locals home and then onto Chef Dat’s cooking school. We made some great dishes and he was really great as 2 of us are vegetarians. You could do as much cooking as you wished or just watch and take photos. I learnt some good tips and the best part was eating it all! Highly recommend.
Đặt is cooking class is amazing. You get to pick 3 of your favorite Vietnamese dishes. Our group choose Bun Cha, Banh Xeo, and fish clay pot. All 3 meals came out delicious. Dat made cooking very easy and fun.
Dat was a fantastic driver, host and chef. He was extremely knowledgeable and was very generous with his time. We chose our own menu which was amazing! We went shopping at the local markets for fresh ingredients then after a couple of stops we were on our way to his kitchen. The highlight would be sitting down with new friends from around the world to enjoy the traditional Vietnamese meal we made together. A must do when in Nha Trang.
