We spent a really enjoyable day with our guide, Sultan, who told us all about the history and local culture of Stone Town and Zanzibar. The tour company were super accommodating, and were able to add extra people to the booking last minute and even arranged to pick them up from a different hotel on the other side of the island. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Zanzibar for the first time - the only thing is to make sure you bring some food with you or buy some en route because lunch isn’t included and it is a full day tour.
It was an amazing tour to get the real Zanzibar vibe. Sherif was a fantastic tour guide. He makes you feel like you discover the hot spots of Zanzibar with an old friend and not a guide. His huge knowledge about the history makes you learn a lot. You will walk a lot, so just be aware of taking the right shoes with you. The short drive from spot to spot is a nice break as well. This is worth every penny; highly recommended!
Excellent experience to explore Zanzibar island! Started with the spice farm tour, followed by a drive then boat to Prison Island, then onto Stone Town! Be prepared for a long day, bur very worth it. Our guide Sultan was fantastic - very knowledgeable and made the tour unique to us in terms of the time to spend at each location. He also had a great sense of humour which made it even more enjoyable! There is no dedicated lunch included in the tour so a suggestion to bring snacks!!
Hassan was our tour guide and he was AMAZING!!! He was timely, kind, and incredibly informative. He was also very accommodating to our frequent bathroom and shopping breaks haha. I would 100% recommend this tour and Hassan to anyone.
We had a wonderful experience visiting stonetown and surrounding areas. So much history and our guide Nayla was very helpful, knowledgable and experienced. Totally recommend doing this tour. Would also add in the Freddie Mercury museum as well.
Enjoyed the private tour very much , my guide Jun was very knowledgeable and he answered all my questions giving me a lot of insight into the history of Zanzibar and all the places we visited. Highly recommend!
The guide is most knowledgeable, courteous and professional. Took me to the prime spots with ease and ensured that the experience was satisfying to me by checking in as we went along. I had a most enjoyable day including him getting urojo (a must-have street food) for me and parking in the car to allow me to eat.
Hasan is an amazing and very knowledgable host. He made sure I was comfortable and answered all 1.858 questions I had. I recommend him for any tour you want to do. He is a native of Zanzibar so he knows the real deal!!
I had a tour with Hassan , he was very knowledgeable of the history of the island and very accommodating . His expertise and manners made it a very great and a comfortable experience. He was able to answer all of my questions and ensured that I had an excellent tour . I would definitely recommend this tour specially if traveling solo .
An altogether disappointing excursion. The spice farm we went to was a tourist trap and he refused to take me to see the museum about the independence movement. It was starting to rain and the sea was choppy so i simply refused to go to Prison Island in the little boat with an outboard motor that was the only transportation provided to get there. I wasn't prepared to drown in the sea off Zanzibar. Nor would I recommend this tour will to risk their life. For what?
Our tour was to the Spice Farm and Stone Town. Both were hosted by our friendly and enthusiastic host Hassan. We had an in-depth walking tour of both. I would most definitely recommend this tour.
This tour was so amazing! The guides were more than friendly and explained everything clear and made our trip really nice! Thank you!
The Tour was perfect! Hassan has a lot of knowledge about Zanzibar. You can ask him any question and he knows an answee or can even show you the right place where you get the answer. Also he is a really cool guy who will drink a coffee with you and chat. You can pick your stops flexible in the time period. So if you are done earlier on prison island ypu can go somewhere else. A total recommendation!
The tour was very well organized, from beginning to the end, Hasan is a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable, kind, funny and caring. Spice farm with fruit tasting was very interesting and educating. Prison Island with giant turtles and Museum with history of the island was intriguing. Finally Stone Town with Museum dedicated to Freddy Mercury was mesmerising. Highly recommend the tour and Hasan as a guide. 👍
Great tour in stone town with our familiy! we visited the top sites in town, also the freddy mercury museum:) , spice market and foremost the night market @ sunset. he's such a nice guy always willing to run the extra mile for his clients and drink a beer together!!! highly recommended!
To visit stone city and learn about the history we can recommend our guide Hassan who leaded us today through this magic place. He is a clever guy, knows all about the history and culture. He speaks very good english and also Italian. We visited the old town, freddy mercery’s house and the spice market. Watched together sunset at the harbour and tasted local streetfood on the night market where Hassan explained us about the favorite dishes.
We had the best experience with Hassan, the wise tour guide, visiting Stone Town. Hassan learned us all about the rich history of the city and Zanzibar in general. I woould 100% recommend if you love to learn and have a real good companionship at the same time. Thank you Hassan!
Our day trip with Hassan was amazing and incredibly memorable. He picked us up from our hotel and gave us a lot of information and history en route to our first stop. His knowledge of the Jozani forest and mangrove was impressive and we learned quite a bit about the ecosystem and wild life. The Jozani forest was wonderful but the real highlight was the spice farm. What a TREAT! The farm and staff were amazing - we got a tour, a taste test, and learned so much. We had asked Hassan to change time and plans the day before and he was so flexible and accommodating - we really appreciated his willingness to customize the day. We would recommend Hassan without any hesitation! He was so knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly.
Me and my mum went on this tour with Sharif as our tour guide. He was super knowledgeable about the different areas in Zanzibar that we were passing through and also about the specific places we visited throughout the day. He was really patient and allowed us time in each place to look around, take pictures and chill. He is really kind and funny and very easygoing. Highly recommend!
Fantastic. Whilst in Zanzibar and short of time we booked this trip and was not disappointed. Hassam was our guide and he was exceptional. Punctual on picking up from hotel and was very keen to make sure your experience was enjoyable. He stopped off at paddy field on way to Spice farm which wasn’t on itinerary and also at Gelato for us in way home for us to enjoy. Spice Farm was excellent with loads of fruits and spices to taste and guess. My only advice would be to let guest know there may be tipping so make sure you have small denominations of cash. Stone Town was very interesting and again Hassam knowledge was exemplary and keen to answer any questions you had. Prison Island was good but not my favourite but that’s personal choice and Hassam gave you time to go and explore the museum. The tortoises were lovely and the peacocks noisy but colourful. I would definitely recommend this trip and without a doubt ask for Hassam he is polite, chatty, punctual and knowledgeable
Booked this tour last minute via Viator (night before), Hassan our tour guide and driver were extremely punctual. Collected direct from hotel and went to Spice Farm, stopped along the way to allow my parents to see the rice paddies. Headed onto Stone Town for a walking tour before heading over to Prison Island. Hassan was very knowledgeable, informative, fun and excellent english. Hassan was extremely accommodating to any changes to our trip (I.e additional stops for ricr paddies and gelato) Day tour was well organised and seamless. No stress and an extremely enjoyable day had by all in the party. Would highly recommend to any traveller visiting Zanzibar. 10/10 experience, had a fun day out and learnt so much history about the Islands. 😎🏝🐢🏝
The stone town, spice farm and prison island was a great experience! Wise tour was very kind, respectful and thorough while he guided us through the tours. I learned so much about spices and Zanzibar.
Hassan is a truly lovely person and amazing guide. Very knowledgeable, polite, respectful and gave us as much time and space as we needed to enjoy all tour activities in full. We also had fun together where he thought us Swahili tongue twisters and he tried to learn the ones we shared. We highly recommend booking a tour with Hassan if you want to hear history, cultural local aspects and have a great company on your tour. He was also attentive to our 7 year old and respected that we need more breaks to rest to enjoy the trip. We decided to book another tour with Hassan because we enjoyed this tour so much :) Thank you, Hassan from Dalia, Dom and Emilius! See you soon!
The tour was amazing. The guide, Hassan, was really fun and extremely knowledgeable regarding the whole island of Zanzibar including its history. Wholeheartedly recommended. Best tour and best guide in Zanzibar.
Just great! We had deliberately chosen a guided tour to avoid the “special” tourist prices and the constant appeal. It's worked! We got a lot of interesting information about all areas of the tour and saw corners we would never have gone to alone. Some things the guide had adapted directly to our personal wishes.
The spice farm was the highlight of the day! My assistant Achmed from the farm put in so much effort for me that I could taste all the spices/fruits. My booked guide in German Abdul was anything but professional. His pronunciation difficult to understand. He tried very hard to take care of me. The stupidest thing was that he took his younger sister to Prison Island. Which spoke even worse German and could not tell me a coherent story. I had to read everything in the museum in English to understand the context. Stone Town was interesting, but I was already very tired by the efforts of communication. Today I would only visit the spice farm.
Very nice activity worth a visit to discover Zanzibar. Francophone guide that explains each activity.
The Guide (Hassan) was a super nice man who knew exactly what he was talking about. he told a nice story about the history of Zanzibar and could explain all the questions from us in detail. He spoke good English so it was all good to follow. we also got to drink and have lunch with him somewhere with a beautiful view.
My tour guide put a lot of effort into it and tirelessly answered my questions. I was also able to learn about him and a little more about his everyday life and his family, which was equally important to me during the tour. The longest and most beautiful I found it on the plantation, also my guide had the most fun with it. At the other stops I read the info boards myself, he had a few additions. That was very okay with me. He also took a detour and dropped me off at a top food address.
Hasan accompanied us through the covered market, streets and monuments of Stone Town explaining the historical facts of this city in Italian. At our request he took us to the Freddy Mercury museum (ticket charged to us). I recommend it to everyone!
Super helpful guy especially speaks many languages including Italian. To us he took us to nakupenda and prison Island complete with grilled fish lunch on the beach .... everything perfect
We absolutely loved it Great tour and absolutely nice guide! Really a heartfelt recommendation from us! Gladly again
The tour is really worth seeing and worth it! Hassan (the guide) can answer any question and speaks super english. You get more time in places that interest you more and are not flooded with activities all in one really top!
The trip with Hassan was incredibly enriching for us. He has very good knowledge of the stone town as well as prison island and communicates it calmly and understandably. Due to his open nature he always had an answer to any other questions. It was like walking around town with a good friend. We can highly recommend him.
