Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying at this property, for a multitude of reasons -- namely poor property layout, distance to the crater, onset of illness, theft from my room, and unprofessional staff. First, the layout of the property is very odd. It's essentially a bunch of standalone cottages on a big plot of land, most of which do not have a view. Second, it is quite far from the crater -- it's over an hour from the lodge to the point where you descend into the crater. Being that far, you miss much of the good game viewing in the early morning. Third, I became severely ill from something I ate or drank at this property on the first night. This disrupted multiple days of our trip, and was a very unpleasant experience. Fourth, and most concerning, I had a custom made pair of leather sandals stolen from on top of my bag after our first night. I am absolutely meticulous in my packing, had counted my shoes upon checking out of our last lodge, and knew they were on top of my bag when I left for the crater. On the second morning I went to check out, they were gone. I noticed the sandals were gone immediately, and I reported it to the hotel upon checkout. Of course, housekeeping never "found them", since they were stolen. I have never had an item stolen from a hotel room before, and this experience was especially disappointing given that they were custom made shoes that I cannot replace. I reported this upon checkout, emailed the hotel manager, and called to report this. I am absolutely, 100% positive that they were stolen from my room, and I did the due diligence to check every other possibility to confirm this before making this review. Fifth, the staff at this property were not nearly as helpful or professional as at other lodges we visited. We couldn't get a second room key (despite the fact that I needed to be able to access the room independently of my group while I was sick). When we arrived, our waiter was wearing a sweatshirt that said "Shit Show Supervisor", etc. The entire experience at this lodge was odd and unsettling. Lastly - I have traveled extensively and this is the first time I have ever left a bad review for a property. After much thought, I feel that other travelers should be warned about this experience.

Very disappointing experience for a five-star hotel. Cash was stolen from two of our rooms during our stay. In one room, USD 100 and EUR 100 were missing, and in another room, USD 200 disappeared. We are certain about the amounts because, just before dinner, we had counted our cash carefully to prepare seven days of tips for our guide. We knew exactly how much money each person had left. What was especially suspicious was that only a few banknotes were taken from each wallet instead of all the cash, which made it feel very deliberate and raised concerns that this may not have been an isolated incident. When we reported it, the manager simply told us to go to the police. There was no proper apology, no real effort to investigate or help us, and not even a small gesture such as waiving a few drinks. For a five-star hotel, both the incident itself and the way it was handled were unacceptable. We completely lost trust in the hotel. I strongly recommend that guests keep all cash and valuables with them at all times. 酒店偷钱啊 朋友们 一定要把自己的现金带在身上。
We had a wonderful stay at Oldeani Lodge. The service was top class and the food was excellent. Our room was amazing with a gorgeous outdoor shower. Our waiter Laizier was very kind, knowledgeable and attentive. I highly recommend staying here on your safari.
We stayed here on our honeymoon for a safari in the Ngorongoro crater. When we arrived we watched a private cultural dance and were offered a fruity drink. The suite was amazing! Large, luxurious and with a huge bathroom with outside shower. The food was very very good, with lunch and dinner being 5 courses with a very kind and helpful waiter Gilbert! He went above and beyond to make our stay special. They even gave us free prosecco at dinner! We would highly recommend.
Upon arriving to Oldeani Mountain Lodge, we had the most delicious lunch. We stayed one night. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Our villa was clean and I enjoyed the colonial style decor. My husband and I enjoyed our dip in the pool. Our massages felt a tad rushed. Soft music playing in the massage room would be a nice touch and would add to the experience instead of silence. The manager Jennifer went absolutely above and beyond to resolve a minor concern that we experienced. Our boma dinner was AMAZING. Asante sana!
