My travel group had a great time at this experience! We loved getting to learn and go to places we would have never heard of before. The history was just enough to be interesting, without being an overwhelming lecture. We had so much and would recommend to anyone else considering this experience.
We had a fantastic time with our guide Julian. They took us to several fun speakeasies. My mother & I had an amazing time and I would recommend going on this tour!
Ryan was outstanding—knowledgeable, fun, entertaining! We had THE best evening! If you’re looking for an inexpensive adventure to do in the City with some history and liquor (and you don’t have to drink) all rolled into one, sign up! You get first class treatment!
Julian was an entertaining guide we visited 3 different venues that we likely wouldn’t have found on our own. Julian shared with us some of the history and backstory of the bars we visited one was a hip hop another had wonderful stage scene models ( and we learned that Julian had acted in one of these!) and a third bar where there was life music. I really enjoyed the acts which were performed by broadway performers. All of the speakeasies we visited offered a selection of crafted cocktails which were very good
This tour is a must in Manhattan! We wouldn’t have stumbled upon any of these bars on our own. They were all local and all completely different from one another. The guide was engaged, personable and gave a great history of prohibition. I highly recommend this tour.
It was a blast! Our tour guide - Walter - was superb. He was extreme knowledgeable and funny. The first place we went was a little raunchy but just go with it. The drinks call the places were great.
Arielle did a great job explaining the history of the prohibition. She has great recommendations for local places to eat and drink. She has a lot of charisma and great attitude. Would recommend for others!
A nice tour of three separate speakeasies- with plenty of history and good drinks to follow. Emma did an awesome job and really made the whole experience for my mom, aunt and I a joy.
This is a fabulous experience I would highly recommend. Arielle, our tour guide, took our small group to some hidden gems in midtown New York City. She was a great guide with local and historical knowledge, including getting us into one bar with a secret password! The cocktails were delicious, the company great and I would do it again if the opportunity arose
Walter was awesome and we had a great time. Really a great way to spend an evening! Thanks for all the great history info!
The tour guide Ariel was great. Lots of energy and fun to be with but the overall experience. She basically brought us to three bars only the first one was secret kind of speakeasy Ish The other two were not out of the way anything special? Not worth the money to me
Great guide-interesting history and wonderful locations. The tour started on time, the walks were easy to do and our guide was very helpful.
We were able to learn about some New York history while we went to the different Speakeasies. The setup was great. Our host, Ryan, was a lot of fun and kept everything running smoothly. Just a warning, expect to spend some money on the drinks. The cocktails are definitely an experience, but they're pricey.
This was a great way to get into some very trendy and popular bars. Ordering and paying for drinks was very quick and smooth. One bar had a huge line to get in and we just walked right in and got seats at the bar. Loved the vibe in these places, which were all different. Our guide, Ariel, was very knowledgeable and helpful as we navigated our way through a busy Hells Kitchen on a weekend afternoon. Highly recommend this tour if you want to try some great drinks at some popular bars.
We had a great time on this tour, Charlie was a lot of fun and provided great history of the city and the locations we visited. Highly recommend!
History of speakeasy in NYC was amazing. Visit three locations that were very different. Drinks were great! Our tour guide Christopher was great! Must do tour when you’re in NYC. Cheers!
Our guide had unique, in-depth knowledge of the topic at hand, plus was very personable. The 3 locations were each very different, and the amount of walking was very minimal (although I wouldn’t say the tour was accessible for someone needing significant physical accommodations - perhaps contact the company). At the end, she brought us to an optional location, which I would have definitely stayed had it not been a Sunday evening. This was a safe and enjoyable experience, for me, as a single woman, to enjoy an evening out, try interesting cocktails, and feel that I learned something new about the area.
Ariel was terrific! We loved her stories and drink recs, and the speakeasies were such fun! If you enjoy cocktails and meeting others similarly inclined, do yourself a favor.
The speakeasy tour was great. I was on my own on a Friday night in New York and could not figure out what to do. I chose this activity and it was great. The people were all friendly and social and Ryan was a great host. We went to three different places with totally different vibes. It was super fun!
Best way to discover the speakeasy bar hop - a little history culture and fun to chill the night in NYC . Ariel with her energy liven the night . Love the secrecy in the reveal
Awesome night exploring NYCs speakeasy’s! We loved hearing about the history of prohibition. Ariel’s charm and story telling skills make this tour really awesome.
We had fantastic experience with Kamala! Highly recommend this fun and engaging, historical tour! 10/10!!
It was fantastic. Sarah take times to speak English with French guys. Merci un moment incroyable que je n’oublierai pas des bars très atypiques
Tour guide Ryan did a wonderful job! We were a small group of Americans, Scots, Irish, and Germans. Ryan navigated us around Midtown, provided an excellent narrative of the history of Prohibition and how it impacted Hell's Kitchen, and especially how it led to the rise of the speakeasies, the Irish mob, etc. He was absolutely brilliant! We visited three pubs that have ties to prohibition (or are modern-day speakeasies) that specialize in high-end mixology (craft beer would be a different tour!). I highly recommend this for your next visit to Midtown Manhattan!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‼️ Tour guide Ryan along with guests from Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and Virginia had a blast! Ryan took us to three speakeasies in midtown/Hells Kitchen and gave us a very informative talk on the history of Prohibition, impact on New York, establishment of speakeasies, and the end of prohibition. Each pub was well versed in high-end mixology. Between the walk, the history, and the excellent drinks, this tour will not disappoint!
Our guide Kate was an awesome host. Very knowledgeable about the places we visited and very friendly. She made it a great experience for our group. Thanks again Kate.
So much fun! Highly recommend! The history of the bars was so interesting. Our tour guide was awesome and very knowledgeable.
Arielle was FANTASTIC!! What a wonderful guide! Professional, knowledgeable, kind, funny, helpful, welcoming and so much fun!!! Excellent tour with great bars!!
The tour operator contacted us at THE TOUR START TIME to cancel our tour. It took us an 1.5 hours to get to the tour start spot and they couldn’t event bother cancelling in advance or compensating us for this trouble. We are still waiting on the refund. Their business practice is subpar and the customer service is non-existence. there are so many other tour options, please skip this one.
Very entertaining way to learn about NYC during prohibition. Ariel was very entertaining and informative. Highly recommend this tour. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Wish I would've brought my water bottle.
Had such a fun time thanks to Rory! Definitely recommend for anyone visiting the city like me. I loved everything
This tour is AMAZING and Totally Unique. Whether you're a tourist or a curious New Yorker, I Highly recommend it, especially for anyone who loves superior cocktails made to perfection, along with an entertaining and intriguing history of New York City's best kept secrets. I went alone and loved meeting the other people on the tour. You can't go wrong with this one ~ so much fun!
Our tour guide Jack was awesome. The locations were amazing. Everyone loved the drinks and there was plenty of time to have some delicious nibbles as well. Well deserved 5 stars.
Very good tour . Tour Guide Jenna was very informative and helpful. Drinks were good and Co tourists as well.
Kamala was awesome. So upbeat and interesting. We had a great time. Cheers! Great information about the prohibition time frame. We will definitely be back to visit all the bars.
Very entertaining and informative guide. Had a great time. We went to three different bars with seemingly increasing history and involvement in the prohibition era. Cool spots.
We had a fantastic guide, Kate! She was knowledgeable and fun. I highly recommend. Our group was great fun from all over.
I had an amazing time with our tour guide Kamala. Each club was exclusive and fun. I had an amazing time. I loved the Speakeasy experience. Happy 40th to my special sister friend Lacey Russell. We enjoyed ourselves.
Wow! Arielle was an amazing tour guide! She brought the history to life and the conversation and drink recommendations were also great!
Our tour guide was Ariel she was so great & knew alot about prohibition! We did three different speakeasies very cool spots I will absolutely be going back. Great experience overall 10/10
Kamala was amazing! This was one of our favorite tours in NYC. We had such a great time and the drinks were awesome! Very informative and the perfect night out in the city. Highly recommend for anyone visiting or even if you’re a true New Yorker!
Incrível perfect!!! The best thing to do as a tourist Great guides good place to meet new people and feel the nyc history Just do it
Learning about the history of Prohibition in NYC while visiting “Speakeasies” that were a part of the history was amazing! Having a good time with a friend and meeting new people from around the world was an added bonus!! So worth it!!!
We loved the tour and Ryan was a great wealth of knowledge. We loved seeing the places to go and having their unique cocktails. My favourite was the “Fearless Agent” - Ketel vodka, strawberries, Balsamic vinegar, cracked white peppercorn served with a Parmesan shard. Different & definitely outside my comfort zone but loved it. Drinks were a bit pricey, but our Aussie $ is crap at the moment.
All of our group of 8 was very disappointed in this Speakeasy Pub and Prohibition Tour. We didn't go to any actual speakeasy's! Two of our stops were just a typical loud bar/club. No drinks were included but our guide was kind enough to provide us with a snack at one stop. Our guide, Jenna, was very friendly and energetic but we all expected to visit a real speakeasy or at least more than one quiet vintage-style cocktail bar. We wouldn't have been so disappointed if it was just advertised as a bar crawl. This same tour shows as being offered by NiteTables which was confusing when we booked the tour to get a confirmation from a company different than who I thought we were booking with. It seems that NiteTables/TellTaleTours is the same company with different names.
Our guide Rory brought the history of this period alive with enthusiasm, fun and involvement! Can’t speak highly enough of her friendliness and interaction.
Awesome tour! Tim was a very entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide. We visited 3 SpeakEasys. The group ranged from ages 20 something to 60 something and all ages had a great time mixing and sharing stories. A fun way to meet new people and spend a Saturday night!
We recently did the Speakeasy tour in NYC. It was a nice event to do and we really enjoyed the bars. Two comments were that for the price I felt you should get at least one cocktail - which they do not do. You get a small shot of a cordial or something - not great. My second comment is that the Tori guide Rori was wonderful - but she walked too fast for the group to keep up. So one comment would be to slow things down a bit according to the audience needs. Thanks and overall was a very cool experience.
Even though we live here, this was a fantastic evening out! Rori was a great guide, equipped with tons of fascinating information about the history of prohibition and the ways in which New Yorkers adapted the city's nightlife to the social changes of Prohibition. All of the bars we visited boasted stunning interiors; a true feast for the eyes! Rori's drink recommendations were pitch-perfect and delicious! It was great to discover new places that we would like to return to.
