Itinerary
Start at the Met, where your guide will show you a collection that rivals those of the Louvre and British Museum. With no less than 2 million works of art and artifacts on hand, the Met showcases objects from Ancient Greece and Egypt as well as modern art from Europe and beyond. During this tour, you’ll start at the sumptuous Great Hall before moving to the museum’s most important galleries. In the Medieval Europe Gallery you’ll learn about the Studiolo from the Ducal Palace as well as armory worn by Henry VIII. The American wing hosts the staircase from the Chicago Stock Exchange as well as the iconic portrait of Washington crossing the Delaware River. Learn about the turbulent and inspiring lives of several European painters including Vermeer, Seurat, and Van Gogh in the European wings. The museum itself has stories to tell, and your guide will explain how this American gallery differs from its older European counterparts, especially since it began before the United States was even 100 years old!
After a break for lunch, Central Park. Designed to give New Yorkers a breath of fresh air. More than just green space, it’s also a venue for memorials and artwork honoring figures like Bolivar and Marti, as well as Balto and Hans Christen Andersen. As your enthusiastic young guide shares the park’s history, you’ll cross the famous Gapstow Bridge on your way to the Central Park Zoo. You will follow the tree-lined Mall and discuss the literary figures memorialized in statues on either side. You will discover the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, sight of countless Hollywood moments. Cross Bow Bridge on your way to Strawberry Fields towards the Dakota to learn about John Lennon’s assassination at his memorial. You’ll discover the resplendent restaurant, Tavern on the Green, before joining the locals in Sheep Meadow, where New Yorkers of all walks of life can get away from city life for a moment.
After meeting your guide at the Latin America History equestrian statues on the corner of 6 Ave & 59 St, you will enter the park. One of the first things you will see is the surviving ASPCA horse drinking fountain sited in 1912. Although we are well into the world of the automobile, this represents the only place in the city where one can bring a horse to drink water if they happen to have one. You will then walk west to get a stunning view of the new SuperScrapers. 432 Park Avenue is a residential skyscraper that overlooks Central Park. The skyscraper is the second tallest building in New York behind One World Trade Centre, making it a prime location to live at.
Next you will see the Time Warner Center, a mixed-use building complex that consists of two twin towers bridged by a multi-story atrium. The complex contains upscale retail shops as well as some office and residential flats. Yet another impressive skyscraper for you to photograph!
Afterwards, you will visit Bow Bridge, the largest bridge in the park. It is a cast iron bridge, decorated designed with Classical Greek refinement during the 19th century. While other bridges in the park are inconspicuous, Bow Bridge is made to stand out from its surroundings, decorated with an interlocking circles banister and intricate elements underneath the arch span.
Another bridge you will come across during your tour is the beautiful schist Gapstow Bridge that ws initially built in 1874. The bridge offers one of the best views of the New York City skyline and you will be able to get some great shots of the city.
Then, you will make your way to the Great Lawn, a site of 55-acres that is considered one of the most famous lawns in the world. The Lawn is a great place to have a picnic on a spring afternoon or catch some rays in summer. Close by you will see the Turtle Pond, where most of the park’s turtles live.
After this you will see the Dakota, perhaps the most famous cooperative building in the city. Constructed in 1884, it still maintains much of its original character. It was the home of John Lennon, former Beatles member from 1973 until his murder in the archway of the building in 1980.
Following, you will visit Strawberry fields, a 2.5-acre area in Central Park that pays tribute to the late Beatle, John Lennon. A designated quiet area in the park, Strawberry files is lined with elm trees, shrubs, flowers and rocks, making it a tranquil, picturesque site.
During your walk you will come across what is known as the Angel of Bethesda atop of Bethesda Fountain. Located in the centre of Bethesda Terrace, the angel became New York City’s first major piece of public art commissioned from a woman.
Finally, we will end our tour at the Central Park Zoo, at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City. Here, you can either stay and enjoy the stunning landscapes of the park, or your guide will accompany you to the nearest subway.

an artist upon art guiding on his domain territori
Katherine was energetic and efficient and very well versed!
Absolutely amazing tour by Mark V! We had a wonderful time both in the Met and in Central Park, hearing all the fun stories and background for the art works and the parts of the park. He really made the city and its history come alive for us!
Mark V is a born and raised New Yorker with the book knowledge and the off-book information you won't find with many guides. We spent nearly six hours with him between the Met and the Park and thoroughly enjoyed every minute, while learning a ton. We travel fairly regularly in the US and abroad. Mark provided our most favorite tour to date. Highly recommend Mark and Babylon!
Mark V is an amazing guide who knows so much about both the art and history of the museum, as well as the park. He tailored the entire day to me and my teenager daughter’s interest in music and dance, and we had the best time!
Charlie was amazing!!! Definitely the best ever Met experience, I couldn’t recommend this enough. The tour was excellent, he explained everything so well and made it really fun, he even gave us dining recommendations for our trip.
Charlie is great! A font of information! We really enjoyed everything. Monet was great! Loved the Egyptian display.highly recommend the tour.
Kevin was awesome. Learnt quite a lot, highly recommend. The Met is massive and no tour is comprehensive but Kevin captured many of the highlights.
Charlie was spectacular!!! He definitely put docents to shame (sorry docents). Charlie was knowledgeable and energetic.
Charlie was amazing! Efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly fun. 10/10 would recommend! Definitely would return for further tour.
Charlie was very knowledgeable! We heard lots of history and stories. The museum is beautiful. Thank you, Charlie! Good experience.
Rob, our guide , helped us to a fantastic Met Museum experience, with his enthusiasm and knowledge. We have have been at this Museum before, but he helped us to span the centuries and recognise some of the pertinent changes of artists life and gave us the necessary background info
Charlie was amazing I highly recommend him for any tour but especially the met. We had ages 9-50 and he catered to all and he dropped knowledge
We had an amazing time on this tour! Charlie was our guide and he was so knowledgeable and engaging. My husband and I, as well as our sons, ages 10 & 13, were absolutely enthralled by Charlie’s presentation. Strongly recommend!!
Mark is an exceptional guide who truly knows how to make art accessible and enjoyable for everyone. His professionalism and clear explanations make even the most complex artistic concepts easy to understand. As someone not well-versed in art, I found myself gaining a new appreciation and perspective on every piece we encountered. Thanks to Mark, I now experience and enjoy art in a completely new and profound way. This tour was a unique and special experience, and I highly recommend Mark to anyone looking to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of art.
Charlie led a very nice afternoon tour that was well paced and spanned throughout a good portion of the MET museum. Very good
Charlie is our tour guide. He is very enthusiastic and smart. My children love him. Will recommend him and give him a five-star.
Jeff was charming and passionate about the Met and its phenomenal collection. He gave a us a great overview and sampling in the two hours. It can be overwhelming and this gave us a manageable way to appreciate a variety of exhibits. Appreciated we were a small group so we could all hear him and see the pieces.
Really great tour. Providing knowledgeable insights and depth of understanding in all aspects of the museum. Our guide was really lovely.
As large as this museum, a first timer could easily get lost and miss so much. Katherine, our guide, did a tremendous job of not only guiding us to the highlights but her knowledge of the Met and art in its many forms is incredible. I would highly recommend.
10/10 recommend this tour! A unique experience to see The Met with added detail and fun that we would never have gotten otherwise! Make sure to see the rooftop deck for amazing views of the city! Catherine was the best tour guide - request her if you can!
Best tour ever. Charlie was our tour guide. Learned so much about art and the museum’s history and philosophy. Book it. You won’t be sorry.
Rob C. did a fantastic job of curating a 2-hour walk through the Met. Chronological, informative, and entertaining! I’d hire him again.
Cherie was wonderful and her knowledge of the art was amazing - the time went by so quickly…thank you for your time and dedication to the arts
Outstanding tour and guide. Jeff was our guide and I recommend him wholeheartedly. Jeff had incredible depth of knowledge and was so pleasant to spend he day with. He somehow hit all the highlights without it being overwhelming and I wish we had taken all of our tours with him. I would recommend him to anyone. 10/10

Cherie was full information and did a fabulous job. She really knew the Arts. We would highly recommend Cherie as a tour guide.
Charlie was fabulous Very knowledgeable Very interactive Really enjoyed the tour The background on Monet was so interesting
Kevin was our guide. Art history Prof with a great personality. Really had a great experience. He designed the tour on our interests ad hoc. Made for such a rich experience. Thank you Kevin!
Our tour guide Charlie was entertaining, knowledgeable, efficient and very helpful. Walking around on our own would have been confusing and we would have missed so much!
Katherine was amazing. We learned so much with her as our guide. We would be just wandering around clueless if we did the Met on our own.
Charlie was great! Extremely knowledgeable and made it fun. His background stories made the tour . I learned a lot and inspired my budding daughter who is an artist
Mark was excellent! He brought so much knowledge and energy to our tour, we highly recommend him to others! There was so much to see, but he did a great job making sure we would know how to navigate it when we come back.
Mark is an amazing guide and teacher. His guidance made an otherwise intimidating Met experience digestible and very, very enjoyable. We can’t say enough great things about Mark’s tour. We highly recommend to anyone, new or experienced at the Met, to go on a tour with Mark. You’ll see and discuss things you wouldn’t by yourself.
Johnathan was beyond extremely supremely incredible… I had no idea we’d be given an incredible VIP tour by someone so passionate, so knowledgeable and so educated but also so kind and personable. This tour far far exceeded expectations in every single facet. I’m incredulous at how amazing it was, all we learned, all we saw.. it was beyond belief and we walked in front of tremendous lines.. with vip entry.. it was the greatest tour Ivecdver taken and ai take a lot over the World. Jonathan is the greatest guide you’ll ever have.. and the tour is set up so incredibly well. It’s just amazing.
Mark is the most knowledgeable guy the MET has ever seen. I didn't k own much about art when I got there, but he thought me a world of stuff about it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Charlie was a fantastic tour guide - full of energy and fun. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the artefacts and great at getting photos!! Works definitely recommend!!
Charlie. Amaizing. I learnt a los of new things. He is really good and people oriented. Thanks a lot
Katherine was our amazing guide! We did the semi private tour. She had such deep knowledge of the art, the history, and the stories behind the artists themselves. She had an iPad also with supplemental photographs. Her passion of art and knowledge of the history of the MET made the tour very special!. I highly recommend her! What a great experience and we needed more days to see all the exhibits!
Our guide Jonathan was very informative and entertaining in leading a disparate group through the Met. His knowledge and insight added great value to the tour and had me questioning some of my long held views about aspects of art and history. A great experience!
Extremely informative and personable tour guide (Robin). In depth historical context for various artwork was excellent.
Jeff was our guide and gave us a great orientation of both the Met and Central Park! He avoided the crowds and we moved at a great pace to cover much ground like we had wanted!
Our Skip the Line Met Museum tour was amazing!! Matt was an extraordinary tour guide and we highly recommend you ask for him!! His insight and museum knowledge was incredible. If you go to NYC you must do.
My husband and I completely enjoyed our tour with Jeff. He made our first visit to the Met so much more meaningful than had we tried to go on our own. Likewise our tour of Central Park gave us a deeper appreciation of the history of the park and what it means to the city. Jeff also made sure that we were comfortable throughout the tour.
Booked this tour for myself and 2 kids (17/23). Have toured the Met by myself before and it’s completely overwhelming. Chose this tour as a good way to see some interesting stuff, as well as get a better feel for what to come back and enjoy. Included a couple hours in the park, which was great to be able to learn about the origin story. Matt was a great guide for our family. Group was 7 people for the Met portion, but the other group was only signed up for the Met portion, so we ended up with a private CP tour. It’s a little more expensive to do semi private, but you can move so much more quickly with fewer. Will do other Babylon tours next time we visit the city. Thank Matt! Central Park part was the kids favorite!
A day at the Largest Museum in the World- ‘THE MET’ Being the largest museum of the United States, it is next to impossible to cover the entire museum in a day. The permanent collection of the museum contains over two million pieces, cut up into seventeen curatorial departments. The permanent collection includes works of art from classical antiquity and ancient Egypt paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art.The Interactive map of THE MET, provides an initial view of the collection as it can be experienced in the physical museum. This map is a must when visiting the museum for an enriching experience. Since I had been planning this tour for a long time, I had my itinerary ready beforehand. Here are the most admired galleries of THE MET that I visited on my tour: Greek and Roman Art The Met’s Greek and Roman collection is very vast. It took me nearly 2 hours to go through the entire display. The gallery has more than 17000 objects. The magnificently detailed sculptures of the Greek and Roman empires are jaw dropping. We weren't allowed to take any videos but we did click many pictures with the sculptures of the Gallery. Egyptian Art I personally love Egyptian history. I spent most of my time here during the tour. Every article contained in the gallery had a very unique story to tell. Few of the oldest articles of the Met are a part of the Egyptian collection. The most popular centrepiece of the Egyptian collection is ‘Temple of Dendur’. The Temple was dismantled by the Egyptian government and was given to the United States in 1965. This Temple was the highlight of the entire gallery. Many articles from the gallery were also shown in movies and it was intriguing to identify them. Islamic Art The Met has the world’s largest collection of Islamic Art. A significant number of the objects of Islamic collection were created for religious use or decorative elements in mosques. Islamic Department’s miniature paintings from Iran and Mughal India are highlights of the collection. I liked how the calligraphy of both religious and secular is well represented in the spectacular collection. These were the major Art Galleries that I visited and spent most of my time. Apart from these I also visited the American Wing, Cantor Roof Garden and The Met Store. The experience was beyond my expectations. I would definitely come back to explore the rest of the MET. My advice to people would be to spend the entire day at The Met, visiting The Met in a rush would only ruin the experience. This was my experience of the glorious journey to ‘The Past’.
Our guide Katherine was excellent! She was very knowledgeable with every exhibit, educated us on the history and the art. She moved the tour at the perfect pace.
