The Brooklyn Bridge, Heights, Dumbo Tour

We were a family of four who did this tour with Jon from CityShuffles. Jon is a true local guide born here and is incredibly passionate about delivering the most informative tour possible. Jon offered to take photos for all members of the tour and captured some amazing memories for us. Our tour guide Jon Nota was excellent. He had a great depth of knowledge about where we were walking. The general itinerary was perfect for a roughly 3 hour tour, kind of a nice teaser for a deeper dive into Brooklyn.

John helped us cross the Brooklyn Bridge while filling our minds with historical context and awakening our eyes to the beautiful skyline that can only be seen when you leave Manhattan. We continued our historical deep dive, with a bit of fun pop culture facts sprinkled in, as we explored the DUMBO district and Brooklyn Heights. John was personable, getting to know us so he could share points about his city through a lens that would speak to each of us. We loved our tour, and we got more than our daily quota of steps completed!!

Jon was amazing. Very knowledgeable and approachable. Pleasant to chat to. Good with both adults and kids. Loves to take photos for you if you wish. Knows the best spots. Fantastic experience. Would thoroughly recommend.

Mike Manship was the guide for our walking tour. He is a rock star. The tour overall was amazing, especially because of his enthusiasm and energy that he brings during each of the stops to explain the history of the architecture in New York. He was also very considerate of me as I wasn’t feeling that well in the 38 degree Celsius scorching heat. Tip: Always bring a water bottle and don’t skip breakfast :P

Excellent tour guide - Jon was a wealth of information and history well beyond the bridge. Very reasonable cost for such a good tour. Wonderful views and photo-ops of the bridge and both NYC and Brooklyn skylines, etc. He even offered to take photos of all the individual parties in the group. The tour was fare more than we had expected. Highly recommend.

Everywhere you turn is another fantastic view!

The Golden Gate Bridge typically gets all the bridge love in this country, but for me I've always had an affinity for the Brooklyn Bridge, I mean it's iconic and there is no better backdrop on the globe. I had the pleasure of touring with Kassie, a well versed and informed guide who truly takes pleasure in her job. She was attentive, informative, knowledgeable, and very helpful. She made it a point to connect with everyone in the group and provide guidance and assistance not just for this tour, but helpful recommendations in the city. The walk itself across the bridge is fantastic, there are several great photo ops along the way and on a clear day, you'll definitely have some amazing shots of the city.

Our guide was polite and generous to everyone in the group, and did a good job getting us together to start off from City Hall Park. Despite a lot of people on the bridge that morning, Derrick got us across without hindrance and ably handled our insistence on stopping for photos every 20 yards (the weather was great that day). Once across, and while making sure we were all rested and refreshed, Derrick took us up to Brooklyn Heights with warm welcomes and friendly greetings in any stops or shops we visited along the way. As we walked Derrick shared the history of Brooklyn and the neighborhood around us, and kept us all informed and amused with stories of notable locals and celebrity A-listers, past and present, that called The Heights their home, delivered with great jokes and sometimes even music! After helping us all get photos of the day, Derrick took us back via Gleason's gym, an unexpected but pleasant surprise, then helped us back to the subway station. No complaints, really enjoyed and do recommend it.

Great tour would highly recommend! John was an engaging caring guide who really connected with the people in our group. He made the tour personal and special. The information we learned about the bridge and surrounding areas could not have been gotten from a guide book, nor could the recommendations for places to eat and drink in Brooklyn and Manhattan. We had a great tour with Jon, who was very knowledgeable of all the areas our tour took us., from architectural styles of buildings to the history of places we stopped along the way. There were plenty of opportunities to take photos of iconic skyline with some great advantage points suggested by Jin. We were glad we booked up instead of meandering around ourselves. Despite the rainy weather (which of course wasn’t in anyone’s control!), our guide , Jon made the experience really enjoyable. He didn’t rush through anything. In fact, he extended the tour to make sure we still got the most out of it. We were running a bit late because of traffic, but he was kind enough to share the group’s location so we could catch up without missing too much. Really appreciated the effort and energy, even in less-than-perfect weather conditions. A great way to explore Brooklyn!

We were a group of four and booked the Brooklyn and Dombo tour with Jon. We enjoyed it so much that we signed up for the 9/11 tour just two days later. Both tours were fantastic – we learned a lot and had a great time. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to truly get to know New York!

I had a solo tour with Jon on a rainy day, and it was a great experience. He was super knowledgeable and made the walk through Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO really enjoyable despite the weather.
