Itinerary
Built in 1885 by chocolate magnate William L. Wallace, the Tarrytown Music Hall has hosted vaudeville acts, silent films, and world-famous performers. This beautifully preserved theater is also known for its paranormal sightings—making it a perfect starting point for Sleepy Hollow’s haunted history.
This peaceful green space marks the exact spot where British Major John André was captured during the Revolutionary War, exposing Benedict Arnold’s treason. The Captors’ Monument commemorates the three local militiamen whose vigilance changed the course of American history. Today, the park is a scenic, contemplative stop—with strange activity at dawn.
The municipal building at 28 Beekman Avenue. Once a quiet administrative hub, this brick building has a darker reputation after hours. Locals tell of areas where footsteps echo late into the night, and chilling shadow figures appear.
Once a thriving 18th-century milling and trading center, Philipsburg Manor was built on the labor of those whose names and stories still resonate here. Visitors report bizarre activity. Its tranquil exterior hides a history that refuses to rest.
This modest crossing is the legendary site where Ichabod Crane’s fate was sealed in Washington Irving’s tale. Though the original bridge is gone, locals claim a cloaked rider still charges through the mist on moonless nights. The rush of hooves have startled more than a few passersby.
Built in the late 1600s, the Old Dutch Church is one of the oldest in New York and the resting place of Revolutionary War soldiers, local villagers, and figures said to have inspired Washington Irving’s tale. The surrounding graves lean and crumble under centuries of weather.
Established in 1849, this sprawling cemetery is the final resting place of Washington Irving and countless local legends.

Reviews
We wanted something that we could do on our own time, so this was exactly what we were looking for. If you want a casual experience with no guide but a narrated voice at each site then this is for you. Keep in mind, this audio tour does not give you access inside any of the buildings. The family enjoyed it and it was well worth the low price. What makes it great is that it will take you on a walking path through all the key spots in Sleepy Hollow. We were able to do some shopping along the way, at our own pace. We also loved, as a bonus, the added reading of the story of the headless horseman. My only negative was the distance between the last two spots (church and cemetery ) was pretty far, so we grabbed our car for that. The total distance of the entire tour is around 1.6 miles. Otherwise, an enjoyable experience!
Hard to use since you need internet access However when working very informative
It was hard to contact to the site to be able to use. Was a little disappointed how many attempts it took to finally get it to work. I almost gave up on it.
I was only able to get 3 min of audio. Not self explanatory, and a waste of $10. I would hope to get a refund.
The place that you tell people to go to start, is wrong. They said they have nothing to do with you so we never did the tour. Basically get robbed of money.
The narrative was informative and entertaining. I would have given 5 stars but I did not receive the link for the audio in the confirmation email. I used the chat function in the Viator app and a representative was able to provide me with the link. The tour was good once I was finally able to access it.
We wanted to do the tour in reverse order. We clicked on the last location and listened to a 2.5 minute audio. I expected a little more. Then could not get back to site with the other locations. We went to the locations but it kept asking us to sign in over and over. No list of locations. A big waste of time! My husband had the same experience on his phone. We both only heard 1 short audio. But worked on it a significant amount of time.
Moderate hills but very interesting. Nice walk with beautiful sights and historic details. Definitely doing more in other cities. Software works wonderfully but instructions to use it were a little hard to figure out.
Super interesting but needs some improvements 1: it wasn’t really a walking tour. You kind of need a car. Some sites were about a mile away 2. There should be a map 3. Logging in and setting up was not so easy and didn’t work for one of us.
Since it was so crowded, we actually did this audio tour by car and it worked out perfectly. Great way to enhance and educate yourself on the area while driving through town. (In traffic)
This was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use, didn't have to download anything. Nice walk through Sleepy Hollow.
Scam. Don’t book this. There is no tour. Went to the Tarrytown Music Hall and was informed by the staff that is no such tour. It puts the employees in an awkward position to have to inform people that there is no such tour.
This was pretty good. I did like how I could listen to the content for a week, because I missed some of the details and was able to listen again while driving home.
Pretty bloody!!! I've taken other audio tours that pulled punches, but this one is actually pretty intense. Glad I didn't have to download yet another junk app.
Actual walk and tour info entertaining, after you figured out how to get it. Takes about 11/2 hrs to complete if you check out each stops and listen to tape. That said, my assumption that we’d get a pair of headphones from a human being at the location address given was NOT the case. There is no one at the address given and no one at the address knows anything. After scouring my confirmation, I noticed a help link … which takes you to a chat link where you fill in a lot of info and somehow get to another link that supplies the Tour, locations and audio. EarPods are recommended…. However, if your a small group , 2 , only buy 1 ticket and you can easily listen together on speaker.
Never received a confirmation email with the link to start the self guided walking tour. Had to call a customer service number. She sent me the link. After trying, trying to put in the excruciating amount of information that for some reason you were looking for, we were still unable to start the tour. Absolutely ridiculous and seems like a scam to me.
The time that we were supposed to go to the music hall it's wasn't open to visitors. Another of the locations was also closed for an event. The information provided as a guide was minimal and didn't really provide guidance. Won't purchase one of these self guided tours again.
Very fun and very long. I think it was two miles. Went into the headless horseman stuff, including the site of the old bridge and the graveyard where he is said to be buried. Honestly pretty creepy tour. I was tired at the end and took an Uber from the last stop, its more of a straight line than a loop.
Very good. Wish it was in Spanish. Actually bloodier and gorier than I expected. I like that kind of stuff but it might be too bloody for young kids.
Worked well, lots of history. Took about five minutes to do the intake form and get the password. Glad I didn't have to download an app.
I found it to be very misleading. The amount of walking was a lot Didn’t what was supposed to happen once I got to theater. We ultimately took an Uber back to theater
