We've used Viator before so were hopeful of the outcome. We were not disappointed. What started as a semi private tour became a private tour as the other party had cancelled. Starting at the Waverley Diner on 6th Avenue we proceeded at a leisurely pace through the Village with many locations being noted, especially those shown in various movies down the years. Notable writers, musicians and artists were all earmarked as well as former President FDR who owned a large property off Washington Park. The guide Maddie had a great breadth of knowledge which she enthusiastically shared with us her sincerity and love of the City was quite apparent . Overall the tour was indeed excellent value and highly recommended to anyone wishing to discover the Village.

Good insight into the history of Greenwich, people who used to live there, tragedy, conflict.. opportunity to ask questions and learn about the area
Patrick was a delightful, engaging and informative tour guide. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the area is impressive and made for a very enjoyable time. Highly recommend!
PATRICK IS AWESOME!!! Stage presence combined with an encyclopedic knowledge. So enjoyable!
We highly recommend Patrick. He took time to connect with us and understand what would be of most interest to us. Patrick’s knowledge of the special features and history of Greenwich Village, plus the well known celebrities who had frequented the area during their lifetime was exceptional. Patrick shared his knowledge freely and made the history of the area come alive. A very enjoyable, entertaining and personal tour.
Ours was a semi private 2hour History tour of Greenwich Village through the decades. Our guide John was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He was also very pleasant and made our experience enjoyable. The two hour walk was enough for us, but we did stop and enjoy a Bistro experience afterwards.
Very historically informative. The guide John was very good with explaining the history through the decades.
Great walking tour by a very knowledgeable guide. She was very personable and showed us historical, cultural and fun sights all over the Village. Highly recommend!
One of the highlights of our trip. The guide, Connor, was deeply knowledgeable and we learned so much and had a much fun!
John was a great tour guide for our historical tour of the whole village. We learned so much about the people who lived there 70 plus years ago. The park was a great spot and the views while walking along were spectacular. Loved seeing and hearing the NYU experience and its surroundings. John was a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the village community. I highly recommend this tour.
Excellent guide - brought history, architecture, political events of Greenwich Village to life. The little known details around Washington Square, the personalities - actors, authors, musicians, protestors - such great stories as we walked through the streets - Ending with a full description of the Stonewall riot - what caused it and how it changed society’s views
Knowledgeable and thoroughly engaging tour. John was great. Recommend it for its diverse history and colorful stories that John was able to tell
Wonderful way to experience this New York neighborhood, both past and present. Our guide Joel was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He conveyed the rich history of the area, was able to trace how the area developed over the years and had great anecdotes and suggestions for how we could explore on our own after the tour. This was two hours well spent!
Our tour guide Connor was a wealth of information! Gained lots of history and interesting anecdotes about GV!
Liz toured us around historic Greenwich Village. She was very knowledgeable on the topics of architecture, poets, writers, musicians and politicians who lived in the area .She was very enthusiastic and her energy was so palpable. Would highly recommend the 2 hour tour and her leadership.
I’m a native New Yorker and learned a great deal about Greenwich Village even though I went to college in the area many moons ago. The history was interesting and the stories engaging. I highly recommend. Maddie was a great guide.
Conner was an excellent tour guide! His knowledge of the area, both historically and pop culture was great! Thanks for a great morning tour!
Very thorough. Patrick was able answer many questions on the fly. We really enjoyed this tour. The tour was historical and cultural and we learned so much.
Very good tour with John, a wealth of interesting information. So glad we did it! A lot of history in this unique part of nyc.
Guide was knowledgeable & enthusiastic about the village. Unfortunately weather was rainy but we enjoyed our walk and appreciate the enrichment of the experience from the guide.
Brianna was bright, enthusiastic and full of details that gave us a taste of Greenwich Village today and in the past. It was the perfect Monday morning stroll.
Percy was very knowledgable about the area and because she had lived there had plenty of recommendations for us. Nice mix of history and gossip. Really enjoyable!
Great tour, hitting all of the highlights. Connor was an excellent guide, sharing a lot of interesting facts and historical context.
Madeleine was a very good and attentive guide , thanks a lot for gave us a nice and interesting walk tour around Greenwich
John was a great guide and we learned so much. We really appreciated the tour and recommendations for other things to do in the neighborhood. Highly recommend!
Liz did a great job presenting the various points of interest on the tour. The pace was good. There was opportunity to ask questions. Recommended.
Liz was an excellent and well informed tour guide. The tour was 2 hours just right amount of time. We would never have found the history behind the village on our own would recommend
Conner was a fantastic guide with a very theatrical presentation. They brought the stories of the area to life!
Provided local details and anecdotes to increase the understanding and enjoyment of the area within the historical and current context
We were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour and our guide Connor was very enthusiastic, engaging and knew so much about Greenwich! We left with a wealth of knowledge and couldn’t recommend this tour more!
Gabby! She was perky, fun, and knowledgeable. We were lucky that no one else signed up for our walk, so we had her all to ourselves.
The tour was fabulous. Patrick was super knowledgeable and fun to be with. He knows and loves The Village and that was apparent in his enthusiastic presentation.
I would recommend this tour as it gives you a fantastic insight into the area which you cannot get from going alone or even a guide book. Our guide Gabi was a wonderful story teller who skillfully brought to life the amazing histrory of the area. She even tailored the content specifically designing this to our interests . The tour was fun and there is so much to see - Gabi accomodated our questions and took us by some of the points of interest that we asked about and mentioned- she was able to answer all our questions!
Percy was great! Very knowledgeable and could easily answer questions “off script.” I’m a local and learned so much about my neighborhood!
We learned so much about the area, especially helpful given our daughter is interested in attending NYU. Rory was full of interesting information, was entertaining in his approach and all around a great tour guide!
Rory was an amazing tour guide. He knew all the history of the area and showed us so many interesting places. He was passionate and down to earth and very personable. Grenich village has so many intriguing spots and Rory knew them all. I would highly recommend touring with Rory.
Percy was a great guide. There were only two of us on the tour and it was fascinating to hear the history and stories of Greenwich Village.
Absolutely amazing tour, full of culture and history and fun! Our guide Percy is the absolute best! :) Highly recommend!
We absolutely loved this tour of Greenwich Village! Claire was a fantastic tour guide. She was very personable and easy to talk to. She told great stories while educating us on the area and answered any questions that we had. She also helped us get our bearings after the tour so we could find our way to the airport.
Patrick was the best tour guide ever, he modified the tour for our needs. Incredibly passionate and knowledgeable.
We lucked out in that the weather was perfect and we were the only two who signed up for the tour so had our guide's undivided attention. If you can, ask for Percy. Percy's wealth of knowledge of the area was both interesting and entertaining. Percy's love of the area and educational background greatly contributed to the tour.
Small private tour was fabulous. Walked throughout Greenwich Village and focused on history of buildings, people who inhabited them and the unique history of the area.
Patrick was a very knowledgeable host with some great stories. It was an easy walking tour and not taxing. We had fun learning the history of the village
Gabby was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Great mix of old and more recent history, combining culture and politics.
Percy was an excellent tour guide- knew so many interesting facts & shared fascinating anecdotes to bring the history alive. Really enjoyed hearing about the history & culture of the village over time. Would definitely do another tour with this guide!!!
Christine was a charming and knowledgeable guide to a well-chosen variety of Greenwich Village sites, striking a perfect balance of fascinating historical detail, evocative anecdotes, and practical insider tips. It was an ideal introduction to one of Manhattan's most picturesque, interesting, and important neighborhoods for my visiting Mexican friend. And as a native New Yorker, I enjoyed Christine's expert review of local history and lore and was also delighted to learn some new things.
Joe was our guide and he was very personable. I was a little disappointed tho as the description of the tour was "Rock and Roll" and he started off by telling us most of the tour would be centered around Bob Dylan who I don't exactly classify as R&R per se. He did cover a few other ppl briefly but I had been hoping for more about the Punk, New Wave, and real R&R musicians.
My husband and I had a great tour with Gabi - ended up being the only ones on the tour, so it was great to have the personalized experience! She was very knowledgeable and shared with us a lot of great history along with interesting stories of the area. We were able to appreciate a part of NYC that we'd not spent a lot of time in before. The tour meandered through quiet residential streets, the Washington Square park, past NYU buildings and some fun/tasty looking pizza and other food-related places. The tour mentioned a number of people who championed causes throughout the history of Greenwich Village, including gay/lesbian notable figures and places of interest. We learned about the 3 styles of pizza that exist in NYC, a fun remnant of an ownership battle b/w the city and private landowner, and saw Aaron Burr's residence which now houses the ultra-romantic restaurant One If By Land, Two If By Sea. Overall it was a great tour and we really enjoyed it - we'd recommend it to anyone looking to learn a broad range of GV's history.
We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 35 years and still learned a lot! Orlando was fun and informative! A+
I know the Village pretty well so I was somewhat surprised to hear untrue information coming out of our tour guide’s mouth. While gracious she made no bones about the fact that this was a job she had little to no interest in and was doing it to pay her bills. She was just spitting out an incorrect script she’d been given. I suggested reading material but it was abundantly clear she had zero interest, I get it, But I couldn’t help feeling sorry for the other group members, on their first trip to NYC, who walked away with utterly false information,
