Armando and Alex made the night so special for my husband birthday! A fun experience! Must do for couples date night!
We seriously enjoyed the experience, learning how to cook a new meal and meeting new people.
I had a fantastic time! The instructor Oliver(?) had fantastic recipes and passion to share about the food, their history, and how to cook - while having a great sense of humor and welcoming attitude. Everything top to bottom was well prepared and organized so we could cook and make things together for the most fun, but also enjoy our time as a small community.
Such a great experience! We went for my mom’s birthday while she was visiting from out of town. The food was delicious, and the chef was fantastic. We had so much fun and can’t wait to take another class with them!!
The Romantic Italian Date Night class was incredible! Paige was so kind, enthusiastic, and brought such amazing energy to the class. We loved absolutely everything about the experience and had such a great time. Highly recommend!
Too many people. Don't call it a romantic date night if I have to cook and collaborate with strangers. When I was told me and my lady would have to share with two other people I was shocked.
Dale was great and super knowledgeable. The food was delicious too. I wish we could’ve bought an apron as a souvenir at the end
Very nice experience with good food and a great chef. My main faults are that space is limited so you are sharing with a group and don't get to be involved in making everything. Additionally you are not involved in making everything on the page like the bread, the chef has pre-made that.
I had an amazing time at the SELFUP Italian cooking class in NYC! My friends and I attended for my birthday, and it was the perfect way to celebrate — fun, interactive, and delicious from start to finish. Chef Oliver was absolutely great. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made everything easy to follow while keeping the vibe fun and relaxed. He explained techniques clearly, gave helpful tips along the way, and made sure everyone felt included, whether you were a beginner or more experienced in the kitchen. The menu was fantastic, and cooking together made the experience even more special. We laughed, learned, and enjoyed an incredible meal that we made ourselves. It felt like the perfect mix of a cooking class and a night out with friends. Highly recommend SELFUP for a birthday, date night, or group outing — and if you get Chef Oliver, you’re in for a great fun!
Our executive Chef Paige and our sous Chef Ashley were amazing! They were amazing guides with a wealth of knowledge. It was a small class with two other couples, it was approximately 3 hour, and they were really attentive helping everyone and giving us not only instructions but also tips for making the dish at home! They were also super helpful answer all sorts of questions. We had so much fun having dancing and joking around! They were so personable and will definitely going back for some of the other classes!!! THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING EVENING!
This was our second class with Oliver - he’s awesome! I love the way he explains the science behind cooking, reviewing the steps in an easy to follow manner. He’s also warm and encouraging. We’ll definitely be back a third time!
The space was amazing, the staff talented and gracious. Lots of learning and hands-on practice. Chef Danny assisted by Chef Andrea (?) were wonderful and fun to work with.
Really fun night, met several new couple friends and had great food! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun couples night!
If you’re looking for a romantic date night with a side of cooking education, this class is perfect! Dale is a true character, equal parts entertainer and teacher (think Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire and Dead Poets Society rolled into one). Monica, his co-chef, balances that energy beautifully. She guided us step by step with so much patience and attention, making sure everyone felt comfortable and confident in the kitchen. Together, they created an experience that was fun, engaging, and surprisingly romantic. Highly recommend for couples looking to connect over amazing Italian food!
Incredible team-building experience that was the perfect mix of fun, educational & fulfilling! We learned a lot, shared a lot and ate all of the beautiful things we cooked. Thank you so much to Chef Chris and Chef Danny for our amazing experience! We will be back!
Was a great time. Chef Chris and Chef Mark were amazing!! Actually learned and the food was great as well. All around great experience, will definitely be back.
Chris was such an amazing chef. He kept the class super engaged and played the best tunes. The food was amazing, best burrata ever and ill deft be dreaming about the pasta. Wow. My husband bought me this class as an anniversary gift and we had such a great time. 10/10 recommend, and would deft. Come back!
I absolutely loved Chef Chris enthusiasm. He was extremely enthusiastic and very motivating. My wife and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary on Friday June 20th for the Romantic Italian Date Night. I loved every single part of the class. From the Pasta Making to the chicken making both Chef Chris and Mark were very helpful and we will definitely be back.
This was such an amazing cooking class! Great for all levels and the chefs do a great job of guiding participants through each step. We made Marty Me Chicken, burrata over salad, and a delicious red velvet parfait dessert. Props to chef Chris and Chef Danny! Would love to come back (and buy merch when it’s available!)
Chef Chris & Danny were amazing and hilarious. Brought my newly dating partner and we were both nervous (for no reason) & had a great time!
Nothing memorable about it. It felt unorganized and the chef was rushing us. Also if everyone paid for a spot there we shouldn’t be sharing pans, ingredients and cooking utensils with other couples. I wouldn’t recommend going. The free wine and snacks was the only reason why I didn’t give this a 1.
My first cooking class, and Chefs Oliver and Ashley were wonderful. Enjoyed meeting the other classmates and dining at a communal table at the end.
Had a fabulous time! Great food, accessible and fun, good vibes, hilarious chef Paige, wonderful company. We made angel hair pasta from scratch, delicious “marry me” chicken, burrata, and red velvet parfait to take home because we were so stuffed. Highly recommended!
Oliver and Eger were awesome!!!! Will be coming back! The entire thing was so much excited to come back and do some new cooking classes!
What an amazing experience! Wow! The music (great playlist), the vibes, the delicious food, and the amazing Chef team truly made this date night a unique and memorable experience! I was able to enjoy my beautiful man and meet some truly wonderful people while doing two things I love to do… cook and eat! I’m a clean freak, so having the space spotless and the chef team emphasize washing hands and clean work spaces was the ultimate plus! Chef Paige led us through the menu with such professionalism, charm and pizazz! I learned so much from her and the experience wasn’t intimidating at all! She is such a beautiful person, was totally helpful and is the ultimate dancing queen! Thank you Chef Paige, Chef Edgar, and Chef Jenny… you all are the best team! Thank you for making this night special! We will be back and we will so recommend this opportunity to friends and colleagues! Ps. I recommend adding a wine and/or whiskey pairing or tasting to the experience! Karima
Chef Paige and the team were amazing! The romantic Italian experience was a great way to spend my Friday night. Would recommend 100 times over!
Amazing class! So fun and very informative. Chef Oliver and chef Mark were great! Loved chef Paige’s menu for the evening. A+++
Big problem was menu bait and switch: Lobster ravioli and Filet steak becomes fried chicken. No notice of menu change. She loves cooking class but we wouldn't recommend it . Sorry.
This was one of the most fun nights I’ve had in a while and I learned so much about cooking. I went in nervous but left confident. Can’t wait to use all my new cooking skills.
I had given my wife the "cooking class" as a birthday present because I thought it was a cool way to meet people and get new culinary impressions during our NYC trip. First of all - this "course" has nothing in common with a cooking class in Germany. There is less cooking, as one would call it in Europe or Asia, but rather ingredients tipped together, as one simply cooks in the USA. The dessert was prepared first: - Layer already baked ready-made dough and cream in a plastic cup, soak with ready-made sauce from the bottle and sprinkle with colorful sprinkles. This is seriously the dessert of the romantic dinner?! - Then make your own pasta dough - that was the only thing you really prepared from raw ingredients. Then flour and fry sliced chicken, tip over cream, pour in provided spices, lid on top. So chicken with cream sauce, what you can cook here as a 10-year-old with Maggi-Fix. Random broccoli and beetroot were then cooked by the "chefs" as a side dish. Wor didn't even hold a knife that night. Not even peeled vegetables. Nothing. Just stirred. And I could have made the dish 100% tastier and spicier without a recipe and according to my own instructions. The most ridiculous thing, however, was the starter. We were sold it as homemade burrata. Knead mozzarella in hot water, form a bowl from the soft cheese, fill with cream and cheese and close. Seriously? I thought I was with the hidden camera. Then there is the ambience, which was absolutely ZERO romantic. Plastic chairs, no candles, no decoration, when I say beer tent set and paper tablecloth, most know what I mean. Wine from plastic cups, canned Coke. Wow, super romantic. It may be that “cooking,” where you tip the simplest ingredients together, process convenience products and put them into plastic cups, is a challenge for most Americans. But someone who often cooks fresh at home with good products, who values at least some aesthetics in presentation and taste, is definitely wrong here. I absolutely cannot recommend this course if you can cook at least mediocre and don't want to celebrate a romantic date with plastic cups, loveless YouTube playlist and cola can.
