Dan was great! We have done walking tours in New York before but this tour was the most informative and engaging. My 13 year old loved it.

Our guide was great - he actually brought pictures of important documents, individuals and maps of Lower Manhattan from the times of the Founding Fathers. Our tour was well paced and informative with insights including how the physical land mass had changed, what purpose different roads had, where the Founding Fathers lived, and what had been destroyed by fire. Insights such as excavation for new structures triggering archaeological research were fascinating ties to present day. Our guide did a terrific job navigating the day's persistent rain - finding indoor spaces and overhangs for breaks and discussion.
Showed commemorative 250 America sites that we would have never known, realized or visited! Guide was excellent!!! We de walk through NYC construction that I was not personally familiar with.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Dan. He was a wealth of information regarding out country’s early history in the City…and the founding fathers’ activity…particularly Hamilton and Washington. Highly recommend this tour.
Although we had to bump our time to 11:30 am due to a family emergency on the tour providers side, the guide arrived and we enjoyed our tour. Our guide had interesting facts and helped us learn about the area and the role it played in our country's independence. I do wish we'd seen the "little girl" statue at Wall Street, but did enjoy standing on the "wall". Our guide did try to engage the youngest member of our group, who is shy. He also was willing to go past the original tour time to see anything else we might be interested in, but with threatening rain we chose to end our tour.
“Jared is a true expert and an outstanding guide. He showed us some of the most beautiful and historically significant places that shaped the foundation of the nation. Every stop brought history to life. This tour was especially meaningful for my daughter, who is a great admirer of Alexander Hamilton. Visiting the places connected to his life gave us a much deeper understanding of hislegacy and a greater appreciation for everything he did for his country. Jared’s passion for history is contagious. He answered every question with patience and shared fascinating details that made the experience even more memorable. Thank you, Jared, for your time, knowledge, and dedication. We highly recommend this tour.
When they say to meet at the So entrance to the park on state street it is not the obvious park on State Street. It’s the one across the street facing the old Custom House. Neither park displayed names or entrances, making it confusing.
Wonderful experience with a lot of US history information regarding the building and lower Manhattan.
We had a great experience on this tour! Our tour guide Dan was very enthusiastic, kind, and knowledgeable and we learned a lot! It was fun to learn about the true history compared to the Hamilton musical. Our group dressed up in costume for a bachelorette celebration and Dan was a great sport and willing to take pictures and go along with the fun!
We were fortunate to have Dan for this tour where he provided a well summarized account of the founding fathers and key milestones in this section of the city going back to the late 1700s. He combined modern day facts about the financial district along with many of the stories surrounding the establishment of federal departments. The walk through Federal Hall was very informative, and Dan had deep knowledge about the many displays. We scheduled this tour in the morning before we saw Hamilton that night. Dan separated Hamilton fact from fiction so we were aware what was actual history vs. entertainment. Highly recommend this private tour!
Prize find! Top-notch thrilling experience! Rich history & wonderful narrative by a very engaged guide. Highly recommend for friends & family!
George was great! We got to see all the highlights of Hamilton’s time in NY, with the final stop of his resting place at Trinity Church. We learned so much about NYC during that time. Would definitely recommend this tour if you want to know all about Hamilton.
Kevin Draper of New York Historical Tours provided an incredibly informative and interesting tour (Alexander Hamilton & The Founding Fathers Tour) in the Financial District. Kevin was so engaging and knowledgeable. His narration was just excellent, so much that even someone who isn't a history buff would come away a convert! A great way to see and hear about the incredible history that lies in our presence, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Kevin
Kevin was amazing! I had my kids with me (8, 12, 20). It was windy and cold and he would accommodate my littlest when she would just say “i’m cold” we would do lot of the talking and story telling indoors and went outside to show us the what he was talking about. He helped take family pictures. Had a lot of good historical tidbits that even peeked the interest of my little ones. Super friendly! Will definitely recommend Kevin to everyone!!!
Leo did a great job showing and telling us about the early history of the USA and New York. He had a tremendous background and shared really cool facts that we would not have known otherwise. Highky recommend.
Federal Hall was closed We were shortchanged. Guide provided excellent information but not going to Federal Hall was really dissatisfying
Our tour guide for the Founding Fathers tour was excellent and so knowledgeable. He took us to so many places and covered so much history. The tour was so enjoyable and worth the money.
This was the highlight of our trip! Our son loved Hamilton and our guide Kevin took us to the sites of the important moments of the revolutionary war. It was fascinating and he took family photos along the way. Highly recommend!
What else can I say? Kevin is the best at what he does. His love of the city was evident as he walked us around lower Manhattan. I really believe Kevin had to hold back because the tour was only two hours and there was not enough time to share all of his knowledge. For our tour, Kevin adjusted the time and start point to accommodate our schedule. Kevin provided stories and history and kept us captivated for 120 minutes. It was really too short of a time as it flew bye. I am already planning my next trip to NYC and will be sure to use Kevin again. `
I booked this private tour for my boyfriend's birthday, as he's a major U.S. and NYC history buff, and it was the perfect choice. As an introvert, I was concerned I would find the private tour slightly awkward, but my concerns were entirely unnecessary. Kevin is an incredible guide who puts you immediately at ease, providing not just a wealth of knowledge, but also a fantastic tour experience. He knows the perfect place to take a photo, or step inside to get warm or for a bathroom break, and points out all the little things along the way that we would have missed even as locals. I lost count of how many times I said "wow" during the tour -- it's one thing to read about history, but it's quite another to stand on the spot where said history actually happened. I would highly recommend this tour to Hamilton fans, or anyone who loves Revolution-era history. (Pro tip - the start of the tour is right out front of the main entrance of the Museum of the American Indian). I would absolutely book more tours with Kevin in the future!
Kevin was our very knowledgeable tour guide and he did not leave any details out about the steps of Alexander Hamilton! We learned about the humble beginnings of New York City and the impact the Dutch had on the founding of this city. We were walked through the Revolutionary War and introduced to General George Washington and his relationship with Alexander Hamilton. Please note that Kevin, our tour guide, made history come to life with his stories and walking us in the steps of some of most well known patriots. We learned so much about Hamilton and Kevin pointed out the events and words we needed to watch for in the play. We will book future NYC tours with this tour group! Prompt, thorough, and spends every moment taking you back in time!
Kevin Draper led our group in a 2 hour private walking tour; "Hamilton and the Founding Fathers. Kevin was an expert on the subject and knowledgably engaging in his storytelling. In fact, we could have spent all day with him and felt like we had completed a college course on this important time in our history. I've recommended him to everyone I know. We'll be back for more, the next time we travel to NYC. Debra Main, Gainesville FL
I took 2 private tours - one with Dan another with Kevin. Both were amazing. If you want more than a superficial narrative then these tours are the way to go. For sure if I come back to NY, Kevin would the first one for me to call. Contrary public bashing of NY, NY is a wonderful city.
This is a great tour for anyone who loves American history and the founding fathers. We booked it as a prelude to the "Hamilton" musical. We got much more out of it than expected. Our guide Billy is dynamic, engaging, joyful and knowledgeable. An intensive history lover himself, he gave a fun yet comprehensive lecture of American history around the independence war, with vivid stories and anecdotes. His personal interest in music and architecture also benefited us a lot while we strolled through the Wall Street and talked about building styles, jazz, the Hamilton musical, etc. He also read us some letters and articles with his baritone voice, completely in Shakespeare style. What a wonderful treat! My 17- and 18-year-old sons totally enjoyed this tour also. Thanks Billy! We'd love to come back for a sequel.
We had a tour with Kevin. I can’t say enough about how much we learned and enjoyed this tour. We were a party of 6: 2 adults, 3 teens and one 11yo and he managed to interest us all. He has a depth and deep understanding of history and skillfully weaves the stories together. Next time we come ti NYC, we will do another tour (or 2) with him. The day before we did the Met Art tour with him. Fantastic as well…
This tour was an amazing walk through history. Kevin is a true historian of NYC and shared not only dates and places but anecdotes and insights. This was my second tour with him, and I can’t wait for the next one!
Kevin was fantastic, excellent knowledge of the financial district history. Recommend this tour, and will be the Gilded age tour on our next visit .
Kevin was AWESOME!!!! So knowledgeable and personable… learned so much and had FUN !!! Thank you thank you thank you !!! Highly recommended 😊🍾⭐️
Amazing and so educational. We learned so much about how New York was the center of everything for the revolution. Kevin knew everything!! and sprinkled the history lessons with personal antedotes from growing up in NY. Recommend this to anyone who wants to do more than just walk around looking at buildings.
Kevin Draper gave us the most amazing walking tour. His depth of knowledge coupled with his engaging demeanor was absolutely perfect. He is flexible and accommodating beyond words. It is admirable how he can cater to all ages.
