Disgusted !!! I have been so loyal to Carmel Limo over the Years and today (26th) they have been Dishonest and Tryed the Dispatch department tried to rob us. I asked yesterday (25th Oct with John) for a 2 minute extra terminal drop. To drop 3 elderly ladies at JFK Term 5 and the other 8 to terminal 4. I have prepaid a $41 Tip for the journey from Downtown NYC to JFK so we are very generous and we prepaid all the tolls as I always do. ** yesterday, I was told the cost to do an extra terminal drop was $25 extra by Dispatch and so was the advisor John told this on 3 occasions yesterday - (25th Oct). Today (26th Oct) I went to pay what I thought was already a high price and dispatch now changed the already high charge of $25 to now charge me $50. The Dispatch Agent ‘DJ’ was adamant that it’s $50 more for the extra 2 minute deviation to T5. Sadly, This is the actions of a cowboy outfit not a professional service. So so so Disapointed, we trusted them. Sad to say I will not be using them again and nor will anyone I know. A good trustworthy company will not see options to fleece money from tourists at an appropriate opportunity. So bear all this in mind, they have zero customer care and just want to find ways to get extra money from you and I mean a 2 minute terminal drop from 4 to 5 $25 extra was high. Now they try for $50 extra. Maybe they heard my English accent and thought, hang on, we can make even more here. We so want company’s we can Trust when we travel !!!!!!! And this incident has proved you can’t trust Carmel.

Traffic from LaGuardia airport to Newark airport is terrible. It could take 3 hours so be prepared. Our driver was not friendly at the beginning but changed his attitude after a bit.
I have been using this service for years from my home in New Jersey to Newark Liberty Airport and Bayonne Cruise port for years. Both drop offs are 35 minutes away from home. Always reliable and great drivers. The last two trips I was charged an additional $30 for congestion pricing. Apparently the company claims that the drivers are from a NY company and have to travel to NJ. I hope to not get the drivers in trouble but I know for a fact they they wait at Newark airport for passenger's and sometimes do not travel back to NY till the end of their day.
Well worth the money to have someone pick you up just outside baggage and drive thru NYC. Very pleasant trip.
This is the third time I have used Viator when traveling. Great experience every time. Have used them in Greece, France and now in States. They are professional. Show up on time and communicate to make sure pickup happens where/when it is scheduled. I knew the fee upfront so could plan ahead. Really reduces stress.
Very poor service after booking a transfer from JFK Airport to Newark Airport DO NOT USE THEM. They take your money and make very little effort to ensure the transfer takes place. It's nothing more than a badly run taxi service, yet they advertise themselves as some high quality executive service with a glossy website. I waited for almost 2 hours for a pickup from outside, what you can only call, very chaotic pickup points outside JFK. The drivers don't call your name and there is nothing other than a hand written card on the dash, which is too small to see. I can't see that it is right that the customer has to try to look at every dash of every car in the hope of getting their ride. There are hundreds of cars picking up passengers. Unless you have a US mobile phone you cannot be contacted by this company and no allowances are in.place for international travellers. It was cold and wet and I had to call them twice from the airport arrivals to find out what was going on. This company should have a better method of picking customers up from the airport. After an 8.5 hour hour long haul flight it was an extremely bad experience and to make matters worse I had difficulty communicating with the driver who then demanded a $20 trip and another$33 to cover the bridge toll. I had already paid £112 online prior to my trip. This company needs to rethink it process. An airport transfer is not , to quote their phrase , "an experience " and should therefore not be treated as such. Overall it's an appaling service.
Finding the right parking area can be difficult. We went to the app pick-up area and it was a different lot pick-up. Area B. Newark not marked well for terminal 7 Parking area B
No communication to indicate what needed to do once our plane arrived. All my other Viator guides had sent me a message prior to my appointed time. All flight details were provided. I sent a message in the app with no response. I finally found a phone number to call, we waited 30 minutes for the ride. Also requested English speaking…we are Americans in America!! We could hardly understand the driver. I would not recommend. However we did finally make our connection. I’m thankful that we had sufficient time between flights.
There was some confusion about the pick up time but the transfer folks had texted me a phone number to call if needed. They thought transfer was 1:00 pm but it was really 7:00 am. I called and they had a car and driver there 7 minutes later. Great response.
We booked a car on-line with Carmel just hours before we embarked on a very long flight to New York. This occured because ETS Shuttles who we had arranged a transfer with from JFK to Newark Airport cancelled their shuttle just prior to us leaving. We contacted the Carmel office when we arrived, the driver arrived at the time indicated and we had a smooth and uneventful trip to Newark. In fact the driver kindly accommodated our request to change the end destination from the Newark Airport, to our nearby hotel. We received a prompt follow up email from Carmel, checking we were satisfied with the service we received. Based on our expereince, we would recommend this company to others requiring a transfer between airports.
On time, professional, and comfortable transfer between the airports. Being older and having several heavy bags, the help, room, and comfort were greatly appreciated. Yes, more than a taxi or Uber, but after a long flight and clearing customs, it was nice to have this scheduled and certain.
Awful, I rebooked an airport transfer to go from JFK to Newark and no car came, Viator doesn’t have direct access to the car service! They were calling and being on hold… they sent an email to Carmel car service to find the car but never tracked it down! It was over half an hour wait with no clear time or direction as to when or if the car would be coming. I had to cancel the ride as I needed to catch another flight. Horrible, gave me anxiety and no real assurances and they should have cancelled the car and find alternatives… but no! Will delete the app and not use this service again, useless waste of time and money.
It was nice not to figure out public transport and have a car waiting for us even if it was pricier that a Lyft/Uber
On time. Professional. Helpful. Smooth xfer despite road construction. Worth it and will use again. ....
Driver was late (about 20 mins) & we were rushing to get to JFK. The driver spoke no English, only Chinese, which made communication difficult. We did make are time but just barely
Too many issues. I clearly wanted a drop at JFK but Viator mistakenly mentioned La Guardia. Getting this corrected was a pain. Then. locating the driver at Newark was really tough. Finally the driver expected a 25% tip and almost insisted on it - this is supposed to be voluntary.
My driver LeBron was very professional and informative about the surrounding area. His van was very comfortable, clean and I was able to relax after dealing with a hectic flight schedule!
No show no call. I registered and gave all my flight information. I was unable to check in at the 12 hour mark because I was in the air. I included that in my registration information. We ended up just taking a taxi.
Easy reservations. Great communication. Friendly drivers. Had to make a last minute change to route and they accommodated it with ease. Will use again.
Great customer Svc , thank you for great people and professional staff . The guy was professional nice
We couldn't find the driver and had to take a taxi that was too small for 5 of us. I would like a refund from Viator. I trusted them but now I don't.
Our driver was excellent. We got our luggage at LaGuardia went through the door to the pick up area. He was right there with my name prominently displayed. He drove us to JFK, great driver, not hair racing, but not a slow poke. Stayed right with the traffic. No honking. The entire experience was very seamless. I initially had so many worries about going from LaGuardia to JFK. It took me an hour from landing to dropping off. Would always do this again!!! So wonderful that you have this service.
We requested a driver and private car at 3.30pm. I had to call dispatch twice and he still was 45 minutes late. The car was an older model with fake leather seat overs, and was not to the standard private car services offer. The driver also expressed his personal political views which I found unnecessary.
The convenience was great and the our driver was prompt upon calling our local car service upon our arrival to JFK. Tolls are not built in to the price. You are already paying ~$50 pp for the service and the toll fees are ~$33. There has to be a system in place with the car service or viator to help offset this cost. The driver was great and helped with our bags and was polite. I gave 4 stars because of the toll fee situation. Thanks.
My family and I paid for an airport transfer from Newark to Manhattan and return to Newark. The first journey was as expected, but marred by the utterly rude taxi driver that angrily insisted to have a tip added to the toll charges. However this was made worse on the return trip to the airport, that never happened. The taxi was scheduled to pick us up from the hotel at 5pm with a flight time of 8pm (this will have given us an hour for the journey to to the airport, prior to the anticipated 2 hours check-in process airports insist we need. But 5pm came and when, even though earlier in the day we called to double check the arrangements. called again after 5pm and each time was told that the ride will be there in 15 mins... eventually after 3 phone calls they conceded that there will ne no driver turning up as the drivers kept cancelling the journey. so stood at the kerbside at 6.20pm we had to hail a cab to get to the airport, Friday rush hour, we got to the airport at 7.35pm rushing across the airport following a ride that cost more than the initial return transfer that was planned, and only narrowly making the boarding. Severely let down by this transfer service and they only refunded 40% of the cost of the service, leaving me out of pocket for the £125 yellow cab ride.
+ Driver showed up on time, smooth ride. - - The driver selected the highest tip rate 30% by himself, showed the specification in Chinese. Total rate +55 USD (tip + road toll) compared to advertised and pre-paid rate.
The service in general was ok but the driver was not so nice. Didn’t help us with our bags and the only thing he said was “ the tolls and tips are not included, you have to pay”. We were very disappointed.
The car was very good and comfortable and the driver was vera nice .But we had to wait a little whie for the car.
Had multiple delays in traffic and the driver still got us to our destination in a timely manner. This company helped us out through all of our flight cancellations.
Driver was most nice. Procedures in NYC hardly make private transfer worthwhile unless you know you are arriving at bad time. Too much walking with no help as drivers aren’t allowed inside to meet the driver. Driver not on site. Car not special. Okay, sort of reliable but special.
Fabulous service, New York transfer from JFK to Midtown. Punctual and kept us informed at all times. Could not fault the service, we were a party of 6 and the car with big and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful, would definitely use again and recommend.
Perfect! The driver got us there safe and sound! Also, early! We will be making another appointment for our return transportation.
Not very happy how I was contacted when I landed ( or the 45 minutes I had to wait for my ride ) The best part of my experience was the new vehicle without any smoke smell
The car was okay. While our voucher says gratuities are optional at our discretion, the driver demanded a 10% tips.
Driver late and accused us of waiting in the wrong place. He was incredibly rude and hardly spoke English. He drove like a maniac and was watching videos on his phone while driving! Aggressive about a tip and would only accept the largest tip of 35%. An awful experience. We feel a refund of his tip is appropriate as his service was non-existance.
Clear instruction for pick up location and car. Flight deboarding was delayed due to weather and car was patient and waited! Professional driver!
We were stranded in Las Vegas because of weather and our flight had been changed four times according to the website I was able to cancel for hours before the activity and I will get a full refund. I had to cancel 12 hours before because we were not going to make our flight until the following day due to weather, I did not get a refund. I am still waiting which we all know I will not get. I would not use this service. A taxi is the same price and our driver was pleasant and the car was clean and it was dependable. It was a sure thing my money actually went for transportation. Still waiting for my refund.
The driver was okay. I was aware that I was responsible for tolls however 200 canadian dollars I paid to be transferred from JFK to Newark then was stuck paying 57 USA dollars for tolls in which I did not even get a receipt for. I find it hard to believe people pay that much money in tolls daily to go from New York to Jersey. I feel I got scammed.
The most memorable part of my experience was waiting (in vain) for the transfer at JFK and then running for a taxi to the Newark airport
Interesting drive thru New York and The Tunnels. When Booked I Gave Wrong Location But Didn’t Know It So The Driver Took Me To Where I Booked. But It Worked Itself Out😭
The driver arrived very quickly after we called and was pleasant during our trip between airports. He even encouraged us to fly stand by if there was an earlier flight. We did ask and were able to catch another flight home cutting our stay in the airport from 10 hours to 1 hour. Very grateful.
The car and driver were first rate. We arrived at JFK and needed to go to a long term parking facility at EWR to get our car during the Friday afternoon rush hour. Having a great car booked ahead of time let us know exactly what we'd pay with no surprises during rush hour and the car's seats were much more comfortable than any cab could have been for the one hour and fifty minutes it took to get us to EWR. This is the way to go. Also, the phone operator was super friendly and helpful.
The good stuff: * customer service people at Carmel were responsive and helpful when I spoke with them at the airport when we arrived at JFK; both phone calls informative and nice; * the ride was efficient and the driver showed up within minutes just like the phone agent said they would; That’s where the good stuff ends. The Bad Stuff: * when trying to book this online through Viator, it failed miserably. I tried numerous times to finalize the reservation while sitting in the airport and on the plane in Vienna, Austria. I tried to use our Viator credits ($56+) and the site failed to finish the reservation so I had to call (while sitting on the plane before takeoff). The agent couldn’t seem to apply our credits either and we got the reservation finalized literally a minute before the plane began its takeoff procedure on the runway. The agent somehow incorrectly booked the reservation for 6/28 instead of 6/27, the date of our arrival. Either that or the Carmel company got it wrong in their system. * the driver spoke no English; * the minivan smelled like a cigarette factory and I soon became nauseous from the smell and opened the rear window, sticking my nose outside in order to breathe; * when we arrived and unloaded, he reminded me I had to pay for tolls (which I remembered) but then he claimed the tolls from JFK to Newark were in excess of $31. That’s an outright lie but it had been a long day after a canceled flight in Europe and I wanted to get home, with still a 90 minute drive ahead of me. I gave the driver $40 cash and he rolled his eyes - even though we couldn’t have a conversation in English - ridiculous considering you’re working in the USA in a customer-facing position where communication with your client is KEY. RIDICULOUS EXPERIENCE especially considering we’d already paid $148 for the transfer from one airport to the other. Are you kidding me? (Looking online for the tolls for the route we traveled, they totaled a maximum of $12.) After a poor review directly to the company, I did receive a phone call from them and was told they would be looking into the situation and tolls and would get back to me again.
Cleanliness of the car was not ideal. Driver was good but car needed TLC Car needed cleaning but driver was ssfe
The car was 30 minutes late. The car is supposed to be non Smokey. The car smelled from smoke. The agent that called me offered a credit of $8. I asked to speak to someone higher up and did not get a call back. They then gave me a credit of about $11. This is not acceptable. Two days later my wife had a pickup at 4 PM . She was told they would be 15 minutes late. They then cancelled the car altogether. In my opinion use someone else.
I first used Carmel about 50 year ago when I was a Road Warrior and needed fast, reliable service to LGA and JFK. Back in NYC I reached out to them for an LGA pickup and was floored by how they have changed and improved. Everything was confirmed by email, the car and driver identified in advance and they were there minutes after I called to be picked up. Can't ask for more.
The car was smaller than we asked for. The driver was friendly but the car smelled from cigarettes. We asked for the driver to wait for us at passenger pick up as my husband could not walk very far but they were not willing to do so. Also, the car was late although we gave them heads up as soon as we landed as they asked for
One time a driver named ‘Julia’ yelled at me during entire ride. She grabbed my credit card out of my hand yet refused to swipe it, claiming I must pay her cash, and much more than the original agreement. She called NYPD to say I refused to pay when it was she who refused to accept payment. ‘Julia’ still works for Carmel. Weeks ago I scheduled pickup from NY airport to my Manhattan home. Driver spoke indecipherable English and was unable to clearly give me directions to his location at the airport. I took a cab home. More expensive, but at least they were there.
Thank you! Although we ended up on a later flight the driver found us and got us to to LaGuardia for our next flight. Great service!
Driver was NOT friendly. Took too long to arrive at our destination. Then demanded we pay him a 30% tip. After he charged us $32.00 in tolls. I paid his company$150 for 31 mile trip
