⭐ 1 Star — BEWARE, especially if you are relying on Carmel for an airport pickup. I strongly recommend thinking twice before booking Carmel Car & Limousine Service based on our experience at JFK. I had a prepaid reservation, including gratuity, for an 11:00 PM pickup and provided Carmel with our JetBlue flight information specifically so they could track our arrival. Our flight was delayed, and Carmel even called at 12:20 AM to confirm we were still arriving. At 12:31 AM, I spoke with dispatch and was told our car would arrive in 5–7 minutes and to wait outside at Terminal 5 Pickup Area 4. We did exactly that. No car. At 12:47 AM, I called again and was now told the vehicle was 20–30 minutes away. We continued waiting. Nearly 50 minutes later, still no car. When I called again at 1:21 AM, I was unbelievably told that MY RESERVATION HAD BEEN CANCELED because I supposedly said I couldn't wait. I NEVER canceled the reservation. Then the explanations started changing. I was told our delayed flight was the problem because Carmel couldn't make a driver wait. Then I was told I had canceled. Then I was told the driver canceled. Even worse, when I asked why no one called or texted to tell me my prepaid reservation had been canceled, I was told they had sent me a text. They did not. I have the complete text history and screenshots. After insisting that we still needed the transportation we had already paid for, another vehicle was finally dispatched. Our 11:00 PM reservation finally resulted in a pickup at 2:08 AM. More than THREE HOURS after our scheduled pickup, after an international flight, baggage claim and customs, we were still standing outside JFK in the middle of the night trying to figure out whether our prepaid car service was even coming. Delays happen. Flights are late. Traffic happens. What is unacceptable is poor communication, inaccurate arrival estimates, canceling a prepaid reservation without the customer's authorization, failing to notify the customer, and then providing contradictory explanations about what happened. I have call logs, text messages, screenshots and timestamps documenting the entire experience. For anyone considering Carmel for an airport pickup: BE AWARE. A prepaid reservation and providing your flight information did not guarantee that a vehicle would actually be there for us, or apparently even that the reservation wouldn't be canceled without our knowledge. After this experience, I would not trust Carmel with another airport pickup.

The driver went to the wrong location. Needed p/u Upper West Side, Manhattan. The driver ends up in Brooklyn. Had to call 3 times with 3 different telephone numbers to have the driver come to the right p/u location finally. Also, the car service was pre-paid but the driver then asked for money for the tolls.

Cancel the dispatch told changed more they have my address hotel in manhattan the vistor service put as Brooklyn I have to call uber

Arrived for pickup early which we liked. Friendly. Got us to our destination comfortably and safely.

I’ve had consistently awful experiences with Carmel Car Service. The first time was bad enough, but I decided to give them another chance—huge mistake. The service was shockingly poor, and I can’t tell if it’s a lack of professionalism or indifference toward customers. Either way, it was unacceptable. If I ever return to New York, I’d rather hitch a ride on a pigeon than book with them.

Very reliable service, driver was early, patiently waited for us to exit hotel and quickly got us to the airport. Easy communications with transport service via Viator messaging.

Car was dirty and it smells. Driver also was a heavy breather. He missed the turn to take the freeway and end up taking side streets and some of my family got car sick from all the stops. I would like to request for 50% credit for unsatisfactory experience.

The Carmel service is reliable in itself and the price quoted is reasonable if you are a large group of 5 like us. We used it 4 times in NY. but you have to confirm each time after booking (by phone, sometimes an online link is also available, which is difficult to find), otherwise the time and meeting point are sometimes not taken over, even if you have specified it. On arrival at the airport, you have to call again to arrange a meeting point. For us this was always an expensive international phone call and it was sometimes difficult to communicate directly with the driver. Some hardly speak any English. The transfer costs the price you pay in advance and (be careful!) a non-transparent and very different toll fee in addition (sometimes $20-35 more!) AND the drivers DEMAND a tip of at least 20% of the total price. If the tip is lower, you are harassed, so that we got the impression that the drivers don't get anything from the transfer money paid. The cars have all been clean and the drivers drove safely.

Because if an assumption by the company, the driver was an hour late. I asked for a 10'oclock pick up with a 5 oclock flight.

The driver showed up 20 minutes early, and was really helpful with our luggage. The car was the exact model we ordered, and was really clean. It was my second experience with the company and I highly recommend it!

Spending hours on the phone modifying the original trip, receiving a confirming email of the modifications, only to have your incompetence mindlessly cancelling the ride and leaving us high and dry. Cost me an additional $75 which you can send to me ASAP.

The driver started an argument with another driver which I was not happy about it. It was no need to create a problem. I was getting worried about it.

The ride was scheduled and paid for in advance. I made the reservation by phone. We were to be picked up at 7:45am at our hotel and taken to Newark airport. When making the reservation, the address of the hotel and the time of pickup were clear. On the day of pickup, no car arrived. I called the car company and they said they never got confirmation and could not get a car to me until an hour later. We had a flight to catch so arranged an Uber. I’d like a refund, please.

After confirming the day prior, they never showed up. They sent a confirmation email and everything. I had to scramble around at 5 am to get an Uber.

Driver was early to pick me up to meet my plane at JFK! Drove me right to terminal… helped with my bags. Great ride!

Right hotel & address when arrived but got right hotel address when departure but wrong district!!! Looking at the map showing Manhattan not Brooklyn

BEWARE!!!!! Just because the hotel shows up on their drop down, the address could be wrong and you will be charged extra and the driver will be late. We selected Renassaince Time Square and it automatically populated the address which was wrong. The driver didn't show up. When we called he was at a McDonalds in lower Manhattan. They required us to pay more money because they claimed we put in the wrong address. We should have just taken a taxi. We have filed a complaint with the company but no one from "customer service" ever returns a call, and they won't transfer you to anyone who can help. Better to walk to the airport!!!

Carmel should not charge cancel fees when their cars are late. Not the fault of the petson who ordered the car in advance!

The only advice I would give is you do not need 45 minutes on a Sunday to get to LaGuardia airport. When I called for pickup, the company insisted I allow 45 minutes. This may be true for weekdays, but not Sunday. We made it in 15 minutes and had way too much time in airport.</p>

<p>Soon as my wife and I arrived at LGA and picked up our luggage, I called Carmel. The gentleman said someone will be there in 5 mins. We went outside of the terminal for pick up and the driver was there within 5 mins. We was went to a hotel in Brooklyn, which took about an hour and half. Everything went well. The driver was prompt, friendly and seemed to be an excellent driver. Highly recommend Carmel to everyone.</p>

<p>The driver was waiting at curbside, minutes earlier than our scheduled time. We were driven to the JFK Airport safely and ahead of time. We were impressed with the overall customer service and driver experience. We definitely would use this service again!</p>

<p>The driver was very prompt and got me to the airport extremely quickly it was a holiday, so of course that helped, but still. He was friendly and helped with my bag. Also, everyone I talked to on the phone was helpful as well.</p>

Since it's early he even dropped me at the DD to pick up breakfast and coffee. The car is a bit old but clean and comfortable. Nice, safe drive to airport. Definitely recommended.</p>

<p>Very efficient service of Viator, the driver arrived promptly to the address. Just did not like the atiude driver require a and quot;tip and quot;, did not accept the amount offered, he wanted the requested amount. That was the only annoying thing happened.</p>
