When booking my reservation i checked the English speaking box. Our driver did not speak any English other than demanding a credit card for a tip at the end. He tried to communicate to us through translator app we could not understand. Next time I will confirm prior our driver is English speaking.

Great driver, on time, and very helpful in every way. I would use them any time we are back in the city.
Driver drove very safely and was professional and careful and cautious as he navigated the New York traffic.
the system told us our driver was there at the airport at level one door 5. No car. Then they said & minutews. Then they said its there. Ends up the driver was on level 2 at departures at what he told us door 8. There is no door 8. We finally found him. Got in the car. I immediately called Carmel to tell them we found him and my dissapointment. The driver felt flustered and pulled over at the exit ramp of the hotel and told us to get out. WE told him to just take us home. He then did it again on the HIGHWAY! in the middle of the highway in the dark he pulled over. See photo. Not sure if it was on purpose or it was his crappy car, but the whole ride was brake stop brake sop brake stop. I tried to go through. the proper procols with Carmel and even followed up. They assured me someday would get back to me again and they never did. I thought we were going to die on that highway. Never again.
Horrible experience I booked this ahead of time and they made me wait over an hour and kept hanging up on me when speaking to customer service. They lied about the distance of the car and where it was. I asked for a refund and didn’t receive it. After a long wait in the cold in New York a driver finally came and didn’t speak English They also didn’t have my name on the card like they said they would so I didn’t know if it was my driver
If you don’t read the fine print they will take your money and not reply to you. I arrived and did not arrange 12 hours before like I was supposed dispute them sending me a ticket and letting them know in the initial the pick up arrangements but apparently I was supposed to call them as well but it was buried in the fine print and therefore I never received service
Carmel was terrific to work with. They modified our pickup to our airport hotel. The driver was right on time and the SUV was very comfortable and easily accommodated us and our cruise luggage.
Rude, abusive driver, did not use flight info to meet us, blamed us for delayed pick up confusion, verbally accosted me at airport, then demanded a tip at end point after a terrible ride. We had traveled for 12 hours from Rome, this was the last thing we needed. BTW going into Rome the driver met us at the terminal, had used the flight arrival info appropriately. Service in the US sucks compared to Europe.
This was the absolute WORST car service experience. The driver was giving the wrong address by the 3rd party and me and my family paid the price. The driver pulled over and told us to get out or pay extra money. This will be 11:00pm in New York.
WORSE ride ever. The driver jerked the car from JFK into Brooklyn for over 45 minutes and made us nauseous! He got out and asked how we wanted to pay even though we already paid Viator.
Lovely driver, clean car and dropped right to our door.. the driver was exactly where he’d say he’d be and I thought the journey was great value.
The driver and ride were both perfect. However, communication with the main office (phone #866-666-6666) was very annoying. After reserving the ride online, confirming it several times via email and repeated text messages from the company (Viator or CarmelLimo? Not sure!), I still had to phone the number given above after I claimed my luggage at airport baggage pickup. The person I spoke with asked me the same numerous questions about my reservation that I had already communicated several times to the company I booked with. Additionally, the person on the phone spoke very fast and had a non-English accent, which made her very hard to hear and understand - had to ask her repeatedly to repeat her questions. Not worth the trouble - will not book with them again.
The booking process was easy. Upon my arrival there was confusion about where the driver would pick me up. I attempted to contact the company via Viator with zero success, I tried to call, then finally someone who worked for the airport said this happens often and to use a Courtesy phone that was located in the terminal. All this took about 20 minutes and the driver arrived 7 minutes later. Once the driver arrived, I noticed that the car was an old hatchback looking car but it was clean. The driver got out after I put my own carrying on in the truck. He didn’t assist me with my bag at the airport or the hotel. We had a pleasant conversation, but he got lost, and we kept going in circles until I finally turned on my GPS and guided him to the hotel. With the loss of time, paying the car toll in cash, cost of the ride, and the overall experience I think I’ll just use rideshare from here on out.
I booked two rides with Carmel in NYC on November 21, 2024, including one from JFK. The communication from both the dispatch center and driver, to ensure we were meeting at the same point in JFK, was excellent. The drivers were both punctual, amiable, and drove immaculate, well-maintained vehicles. I had a very positive experience using Carmel, and would absolutely recommend booking NYC transportation through them. The cost is comparable to an Uber, but the cars and customer support are a notch above.
A terrible terrible experience. I arrived at JFK airport and called the car service and they told me that I needed not get a shuttle bus to the area where Uber/lyft was. I was travelling with my elderly mother and 11 month year old daughter which is why I specifically had booked a meet and greet service. After explaining this to the dispatcher, I was then told that I needed to meet the driver at specific pick up point. I went to the area and despite 3 calls, I waited for 2.5 hours for a car to finally come. At one point I was speaking to a driver who couldn't speak any English. Finally a car arrived and the driver was very nice but at that point my daughter was greatly distressed and my elderly mother fatigued. No apologies were made and I feel horribly let down by the quite frankly terrible service. I would not recommend it at all.
Perfect pick up at airport could not have been better! Thank you for the clear instructions too. Good service.
Transport booked - never showed up and basically were useless. Would NEVER book through Viator again
Driver was great, he pointed out all the sites and recommended what to see and do. Would definitely book again.
Great driver, patient in traffic 👏 very satisfied, very nice ride, clean vehicle.......................
This is the third time that I have used Viator limousine service. The application is easy to use. The price is equal or less than using a taxi. The client pick up area is quiet and spacious so no fighting with others scrambling for ground transportation. Best is the courteousness of the driver. I always use Viator when in New York.
This may not be drivers fault but it was a lot of traffic at airport but when we came out we called company and they said he was five minutes away so we stood and waited. He could have been more friendly but car was nice and we got home safe. I would use again.
The Carmel service is reliable in itself and the price quoted is reasonable if you are a large group of 5 like us. We used it 4 times in NY. BUT there is a few things to be aware of: you have to confirm each time after booking (by phone, sometimes an online link is also available, which is difficult to find), otherwise the time and meeting point are sometimes not taken over, even if you have specified it! Once our car was only available 45 min later than expected because of that! On arrival at the airport, you have to call Carmel again to arrange a meeting point. For us this was always an expensive international phone call and it was difficult to communicate directly with the driver. Some hardly speak any English. BE CAREFUL The transfer costs the price you pay in advance AND a non-transparent and very different (!) toll fee in addition (sometimes $20-35 more!) AND the drivers DEMAND a tip of at least 20% of the total price. If the tip is lower first, you are harassed, so that we got the impression that the drivers don't get anything from the transfer money paid.
Had booked Carmel for morning private airport transfer from Newark international to downtown, was a bit apprehensive with the mixed reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the promptness of the dispatcher and the driver arrived in 5-8 mins , had prepaid the fare in site and everything went very smooth and the driver was very helpful with the luggage too , the fare charged was and inclusive of gratuity which is fair given the service quality.. will definitely rebook..
Not reliable, really bad customer service. They do not provide instructions for meeting point ahead of time, driver never showed up.
Worst experience I’ve ever had in private transport! Simple summary: - Picked up in Toyota Avalon (not typical level car for private transport) - Car was filthy and smelled very bad - Stuck in it for over two hours (traffic to CT) - called to try and speak with manager to ensure return trip wasn’t same and got berated by dispatch lady. Unbelievably rude and not empathetic to sh*tty experience. - tried emailing CEO who never bothered to reply -cancelled return trip and just took Uber premier (+/- $50) and picked up in a new Cadillac NEVER AGAIN will we use Carmel. You’ve been warned
Easy pick up from JFK to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal-JFK crazy as usual - had to really hunt for our driver but just a short wait- he drove a bit aggressively (I am a New Yorker too) but got us there safely. Return trip was fine -driver much better - all in all definitely would use again
My experience with Carmel Limo was beyond disappointing. Despite booking two weeks in advance and providing our flight details, they failed to have a car ready upon our arrival. They repeatedly assured us of a 5-7 minute wait after baggage claim, but it was a lie. We were left stranded at midnight with our children in the cold. When we called, they arranged another service, but it took 40 minutes to arrive. This level of incompetence and disregard for customers is unacceptable. I strongly advise against using Carmel Limo. They're unreliable, untrustworthy, and their false promises put customers in vulnerable situations. Look elsewhere for your transportation needs.
Great service, booked last minute and had no issues. Early morning flight pick up was 2am. Called a few hours before pick up and changed the pickup time to a half hour earlier and had no problem. Great vehicle, driver was early to the pick up and provided a safe ride to the airport. Awesome service at a reasonable price.
Driver was courteous and on time. I would highly recommend this car service for your transportation needs.
Pickup and drop-off worked out well however driver was extremely rude, there was a car seat in the car which we did not request, front seat had alot of items on the floor which made me cram in just so I could fit properly in the seat, in the end driver became very rude about payment of tolls and extremely demanding regarding the tip. Other than the driver things worked out but the driver made it a horrible experience.
Absolutely awful experience, clueless, and unhelpful customer support, even through the staff in the Philipines is nice. On hold forever. Unable to help me. I finally found help with the American company they contacted with, not Viator. I would not recommend Viator at all. Customer service is not existent. .
Quick arrival to JFK. Friendly driver. Great service after a trying day with diverted flight and 4 hr late delay Thank you
Good customer service. The driver was friendly and insightful. I would use again. He was on time. He was kind.
Great Service! Very shorts wait time. Driver on time and loaded our luggage quickly. Because of the weather and the Terminal number (5) having the same number as the outsice pickup Position (5) and the baggage claim area. If was a little confusing to find us. But we got it resolved. For future travelers, insure you go out side and check the numners outside before calling or the driver calls you.
We had to wait quite a while until the driver came. Furthermore it has not been easy to find the pick up spot. The car has been dirty inside. After a short 'hello' the driver instructed us immediately how much tipp he wanted to have. Taking a Uber would have been the better option.
You need to call for pick up. In 20 minutes the driver will appear with a table with your name on it. After pick up we reach destination in 45 minutes.
Horrible experience. First of all I was struck by the intense BO smell in the vehicle which made my stomach turn. At that point if it was not already paid for, without an option for a refund, I would have said no thanks. . Then the vehicle appeared to be held together with duck tape. It was so ragged. Next was the horrible driving. I know it’s NY and driving can be arduous, but this was a new level. Then there was the supposed lack of speaking English until it was time to hit me up for the 20% tip. Next time, I’m sticking with Uber or lift. So bad. Really. Thanks
Very easy. We called from the airport and the car was exactly in the row that is designated for Carmel with my name in the window.
Car was on time and got us to our location. However, we ordered a luxury sedan and a guy in blue jeans and a t shirt showed up in a mini van. The car had a very disturbing odor and the driver was fairly erratic. We got out of the car about 5 blocks before our location because we were nauseous and a little uncomfortable with his aggressive driving. Throughout the ride, his phone got notifications of other other pickups he could make. It was clear that this is a ride sharing service, nit a private car service. If you are expecting anything other than Uber/lift when ordering the luxury sedan, it's not. Price was fine, but not the bill of goods that are advertised on website.
Disappointed we had to wait for the car 30+ minutes. Prior to my flight departure I called to reconfirm the reservation twice and notified Carmel Limo that our flight would arrive at LA Guardia at 10:47pm. After we got our baggage I had to call 3 times before the car finally came 30 minutes later. I had expected better service.
Long wait for transfer. Driver very hard to understand language and a bit rude. Used personal car that was dirty. Asked for money tip. 🙁
The pickup was a little hectic as it was curbside, so you were battling crowds and many cars. Thankfully our driver had my name displayed in his window, so we found him. He was courteous and helped with bags. Will do again.
We were told we would have a 3:15 pm pick up at area K at La Guardia. WE didn’t get apick-up until after 4 pm after multiple calls to Carmel. Each call we had to explain the situation and give all the pertinent info again and again. I was told that they were trying to find a driver. Finally, I spoke with the dispatcher and the driver arrived. It took almost an hour waiting for the ride. The driver kept having problems with his GPS, but finally we arrived at our destination much later then expected. ( 1hour late) I have scheduled a ride back to the airport on Sat. I am concerned it will work out.
I was picked up at Kennedy, and everything was seamless. When I called to confirm my arrival, customer service hot me to exactly where I had to be. Mohammed was there within minutes, and the teip home wes perfect. I will fefinitely be using viator and asking for car 106 in the future! Thank you so much!
Disrespectful and rude driver, I didn’t know that the passenger has to pay for the tolls, I was hoping to have a nice experience but it was the opposite.
Like similar comments below, our car to JFK was cancelled 30 minutes after it was supposed to pick us up and without any telephone contact or explanation. We had booked it through Viator the day before. It is totally unacceptable to leave customers stranded in this way stressing about how to get to the airport yet poor service and cancellations seem to be a recurring theme with this company. You may be lucky and have the car turn up on time on time and make your transfer but I recommend you book with someone other than Carmel to vastly improve your chances!
After I had arrived and had my luggage, I called the company and let them know I was ready to be picked up and had my luggage. They told me there would be a 15 - 20 minute delay. After about 25 minutes, I got a call saying there was another delay and it would be another 20 minutes before I was picked up. After waiting over an hour, I again called the company and was informed that a car had not been assigned and they would not tell me how long it would be until a car would be assigned. I ended up getting an Uber that came showed up right away. If you decide to book this service after reading the reviews, just know that you are taking a risk and may be at the airport for hours waiting for someone to bother to pick you up.
I booked and payed a private pick up transfer in advance for 3 people both from the airport and from the hotel when we go back home. When we arrived I called the office of Carmel and the lady told me that the car will be at the pick up spot in 5 minutes. Worked out perfectly. When we go back from the hotel to the airpot only 1 one hour before the pick up I got the information that our flight was half an hour earlier. I called the Carmel office and asked if we can be picked up half an hour earlier. There was no panic at their side and they immediately rescheduled my transfer and picked us up earlier. So we arrived on time at the airport without any stress.
Garbage company...They suck.. Unless you want to get ripped off and wait at the airport and have them hang up on you when you explain your wife and mother-in-law are waiting at JFK and their driver doesn't show up and you're a bit irate because they debited your credit card and did not fulfill their obligation, this is what I experienced with this horrendous company... 666-6666. Number of the Beast indeed...
Driver said he would be 30-45 minutes. Never showed. When I called I was told it would be another 45 minutes. I had to pay for an Uber. Very disappointed
