We had an awesome experience! Our staff had such a great time. Kaylee and Alyssa from Escapely were incredibly helpful and helped us book this experience last minute, and everything came together perfectly. The experience was about two hours and allowed us to explore and enjoy Central Park in a way we never had before. We had a group of 48 and split into six teams, which worked really well. The boxes were great, and the clues and hints were appropriately challenging—they definitely made us work and collaborate as a team! Be sure to wear your most comfortable sneakers and clothes because you’ll get a good workout while solving the clues and making your way through the park. I would absolutely recommend this for businesses, team-building events, or even smaller groups of friends and family. We had so much fun that I’m personally planning to purchase a box to do with my family!
Had a wonderful time. One can really get a better feel of Central park. You get to see areas you wouldn’t usually go. Highly recommend
I bought this game for my friend on her birthday in the winter, and we waited until the first warm weekend to play it in NYC. I was looking for an Escape room/Scavenger hunt-type game as she loves this theme and the sun, and it was a perfect fit! We had a great time playing it and felt the whole game was super innovative. We used the hint a few times, but don't feel the difficulty level should be changed. We have already recommended it to many friends and have planned to play a new one for each city we visit in the US. I think the Bethesda terrace part was amazing, props to you all! NYC Brooklyn version is next, shall get it soon!
The adventure was really fun! All of us know Central Park and NYC really well but we still got stumped by a clue or two. I thought most of the rebus questions were very simple but the one where you had to match a pattern on something (I don't want to spoil it), only one of us noticed it! There were five of us working on it together and each of us brought something unique to solving so that made it extra fun. I found out they have one set in Las Vegas and I bet it is great. We have friends who live there so I plan to send it to them for a holiday gift.
Interactive and takes you through a good amount off the east side. Puzzles change and aren’t the same and it makes you search around.
We had fun with the game! We were a family group of five adults and everyone could solve the puzzles. The hardest ones for us were the first two, it just took us a bit to get into the thought process. The variety of puzzles was excellent and the walking distance covered was just right. We have done other tabletop mystery kits, letterboxing, and geocaching. My family had talked about wanting to do an escape room sometime, but I was much happier to find an outdoor version! It was fun to have a different way to experience Central Park, we have been there many times. It made us look more closely at things we have walked right past before. At one of the stops we saw another group with the box solving the puzzle too- it looked like they were having a good time! I would definitely play one of your adventure games again!
We loved this box and greatly enjoyed it with our family (13M, 32F, 33M, 50M, 48F). We particularly enjoyed the final puzzle, which had some fun integration of the clues, storyline, and physical environment. We would absolutely do this again and recommend it to others for other cities!
The story was fun and interactive. As native New Yorkers, we didn’t expect to learn so much about Central Park. Even our teenaged sons enjoyed this experience!
We had a great time, and felt really challenged! This was a gift to us. We were interested in scavenger hunts and were so excited to test ourselves. Our favorite part was traveling to different spots that we have not been before. It really gave us a sense of Central Park even though we've been living here for 2+ years. Thank you!
This was awesome! Especially being in NY for the first time. The concept and the idea behind this game was very brilliant. It wasn’t too difficult and it wasn’t too easy. The only thing I’d say is be prepared to do a lot of walking 😂
Leaving a review isn’t enough to describe how amazing this escape room adventure was! You have to experience it for yourself and if you like adventure and solving puzzles! Believe me, you will enjoy this! The persons/person that created this game did an amazing job. My first time in NY so it was my first time in Central Park. The game made it 3x better
We had a great time going through Central Park! Having done a good number of indoor escape rooms, we found the puzzles themselves slightly on easy side (though very fair and fun, and you don't want to be spending a lot of time on any one of them as it is, since part of the fun is walking through the park). What we truly loved was finding and linking the puzzles to real-world clues -- those were extremely well-done and very clever.
Super fun and unique experience! It's a really cool story woven in some key central park icons. Great for folks new to Central Park, but honestly even better for locals that visit often!! We got rained on halfway but took some shelter in Bethesda Terrace, it was a super memorable summer New York experience!
This was our second Escapely experience (we had previously played the Boston game) and we had a blast. The game is perfectly themed and takes great advantage of the Central Park environment. We all had different levels of familiarity with Central Park, from first timers to frequent visitors, and even the frequent visitors saw things in the park they hadn’t experienced before. The puzzles provide the right amount of challenge to make you think but also to keep the game moving forward. We have had so much fun with the Escapely games we can’t wait to experience new cities through their lens. While the Central Park game capitalized on the unique theming native to the park, one thing to watch out for (and I applaud Escapely for highlighting this on their website) is some cities use the same game and similar puzzles. We will be in San Diego next month and noticed the warning that it is the same underlying story as other spyhunter games which included the Boston game we had already played. Over time it would be great if they could find more ways to tailor each game to the city similar to the Central Park game (Boston could utilize more of the Italian heritage of the north end and even use a Whitey Bulger type mob theme which would be more authentic than the spyhunter theme, which was a lot of fun but more generic).
This was such a wonderful experience. None of the clues were too tricky but still challenging. A great interface with the story, the technology, and the real world. Allowed us to discover a familiar park with new eyes.
We loved the game — it was fun and really entertaining! We did it as a family with our 13-year-old daughter, who was very engaged and solved most of the puzzles. The difficulty level was just right. It took us a little over three hours, and we enjoyed discovering new places and hidden paths in Central Park. We heard about it on Facebook
Very well put together, fun for 2 adults and a 12 year old to complete! Directions were good for unfamiliar territory and we loved the fun facts sprinkled through the clues! Made exploring the park fun for us and we loved we could go at our own pace! Highly recommend!
Great fun! We had a group of 5 (ages 12, 14, 27, 53, 56) and found we each excelled at different tasks. Fun way to explore the park.
We absolutely loved this game. My main issue is that I wish there were more games in our city!! We really loved the variety of riddles/games (like turn left, turn right, enter the name here etc) and also the variety of difficulty. Truly 10/10 and upset I can’t play more in our city!
This game was fun took us 3.5hrs and only had to use a few clues and once we did use them we already knew the answer. We def will be doing another one soon
The outside escape room in nyc Central Park was a very enjoyable experience! You can either plan ahead and get your info box in the mail, or get it day of in the city. The box contained everything you need, plus you will need a QR code reader on your phone. But it was fun and challenging and got a little exercise too!!
Oh man we had a blast. As soon as I scanned the first QR code and the journey began, we were hooked. The difficulty of the levels were actually perfect. Some clues had us stumped for a few minutes, others we were able to figure out quickly. My girlfriend heard about the game on Facebook and thought it would be great to do. The best part of the game was our reaction to figuring out the first clue. At that moment we knew what we were in for and it made it more exciting.
We did the escape from Central Park with a group of 12 years old as a bday scavenger hunt. The theme was Alice in the Wonderland. The clues were very interactive and challenging enough to feel rewarded after clues were solved. We took our time to know Central Park better. The game provided plenty fun facts about surrounding area. We were able to crack all the clues. We tried really hard not to use hints but they’re available if needed. All kids enjoyed the escape as much as the adults. We all live in NYC and enjoy the Central Park but this game made us look even closer and we appreciate it even more! It is extremely thought out and super fun! Would 100% recommend and can’t wait for more games from Escapely.
We ordered the Escapely box weeks before our trip and tucked it in our luggage. When we got to NYC we planned about 2 hours to walk and do the escape room. The clues took us a minute to get in to proper solving mode then we were on our way. It was a fun way to see that part of the city and areas we would have been lost in without a clue to prompt us (It was safe and well travelled areas just twisty). The game showed us history and things we wouldn’t have noticed just passing by. It would be great for kids that get that glassy eyed look as you march them to the next attraction. We look forward to doing more cities when we travel. Thanks!!
We had a wonderful time on this adventuresome double date in NYC! It was a beautiful day and the clues were just right for a wonderful adventure that lasted about 2 1/2 hours. It was amazing, detailed, and well planned, and it was remarkable How much they took real life landmarks into the puzzle. The best way of seeing Central Park ever! Would recommend highly and We are literally thinking about which city we will go to next to enjoy this!
A friend recommended the Escapely outdoor escape room for our trip to NYC. I ordered it to be shipped 2-day air directly to our hotel. The weather was great and so this was the perfect activity for our family to actually spend time in Central Park. Without the game, I'm sure my husband and I would have popped in and out and not really spent time in the park. Since we had the escape room, it gave our family destinations within the park. We saw a bunch of cool gems and had a lot of fun. Even my 10 and 13 year old sons enjoyed it. The website worked well, too. Bring the box with you - not just the contents of the box - because you'll need to use it for the game.
My fiance and I bought this escapely box as a fun excuse to go on a trip to NYC. We had a blast following clues through Central Park. The puzzle made really great use of the physical location and was well executed. I noticed details in the park I never would have otherwise. The puzzles were fun. I would say the difficulty wasn't too hard (we are avid puzzlers), probably a 2/5, but the experience itself was a 5/5. I took lots of great photos too, but no spoilers :)
We had a fantastic time completing this adventure. Our family has done quite a few escape rooms (in person and online versions), and they are a favorite group activity. The challenges in this adventure were not overly easy, but they were not too hard either, just the right balance to keep the game moving without going too fast. It was amazing how they incorporated the real life locations into the game (i.e., actual gates, statues etc.). The guidance on time needed and the amount of walking was accurate, but those with mobility challenges should know there are quite a few hills and stairs. The company was really responsive too. I have been told they are incorporating that guidance into the game information for future players.
If you're like me, you're constantly looking for ways to spend some quality time with your family — away from screens, and preferably with some exercise involved. Well, Escapely gave us precisely that with a wonderful little tour of Central Park. You'll meet some fun characters along the way, solve some cool puzzles that interact with historical landmarks in Central Park, and get to see some of the most interesting parts of Central Park (that I never even knew about). Had a blast with this "outdoor escape room", and we'll definitely do more of these in other cities we visit!
My boyfriend took me to Central Park for my birthday. I knew he had a surprise for me but I wasn't entirely sure what it was. We arrived at the Met and he pulled out the Escapely box. I was so excited! We love escape rooms, so this was a cool new experience. It took a few minutes before we figured out how to solve the first puzzle. I thought it was a good challenge. We got stumped by the next puzzle, but the hints were very helpful and I appreciated how they were tiered as to not give away too much help too quickly. Then we were off through the park, going down paths we would've never explored otherwise, despite living in the city for years. The mix of real-world clues and help from QR codes was such an interesting way to experience Central Park. We weren't rushing through the game, but I kind of expected us to finish quickly as we are both gamers. I was wrong (in a good way)! Between the walking and puzzle-solving, we took the full 3 hours to complete the game, and actually ran into a few other couples doing the game as well. I was pleasantly surprised by just how many envelopes we still had left to open after we'd completed a few puzzles. I was happy with the level of difficulty. Some sections were easy, others were harder. After we finished, I immediately asked my boyfriend if there were other versions of the game for NYC! I'd definitely play again and will try to play Escapely in a new city if I get the chance.
The game was creative, fun and challenging at times! Great way to explore Central Park while solving a mystery! Looking forward to other cities!
I did it with my parents who visited from France. We had a blast! I hope they will make more NYC games! Thanks Escapely for the fun! And I love the surprise gift!
My boyfriend and I played the Alice in Wonderland Central Park Escapely and really enjoyed it. We’re in a long distance relationship and this was a special and fun way to spend time together. The game took us about 2.5 hours, and we thought it was a good level of difficulty. We loved the thought put into all the details and felt very satisfied at the end of the game. We even ran into another group playing the same game right behind us! Highly recommend.
The Central Park game really surpassed my expectations! Really fun time, good for tourists and locals alike. Make sure you pick a day with nice weather, not too hot or cold and you will definitely enjoy your time!!!
We were 5 friends playing together. It was part of my birthday weekend and we had a great time playing it. The tasks weren't too difficult and the puzzles not too hard to solve. Just the perfect mix. We got to see new places in Central Park and looked at familiar ones differently. Thank you escaply for this great experience.
We are half joking about traveling to the other escapely cities just to do them. Difficulty level was perfect, we tried not to use any hints to make it harder but loved the way hints were also given if needed. We took 3 hours going slow and enjoying the park, we also ran into another couple doing it and they helped us with a clue haha I loved that we were able to bring our dog along! We also loved how interactive the clues were with the surroundings. I grew up in NYC and have seen most of it but never the Shakespeare Garden, or the actual words in Hans Christian Anderson statue's book, or noticed the owl and monkeys on the gate by the bears. The clue envelopes are super glued together so just be careful opening it. We didn't write on anything (used my Notes app instead) and can easily regift it to a friend to play.
