Itinerary
Your adventure begins in Grand Central Terminal’s modern-day heart: the lively main concourse. Marvel at the famous clock perched atop the information booth—and learn the eye-watering amount it’s rumored to be worth—as your guide regales you with the story of Cornelius Vanderbilt, the mastermind behind Grand Central Depot (as it was originally called). From there, head into Vanderbilt Hall, itself a living testament to Grand Central’s rags-to-riches transformation in the 1980s.
Next, pop outside for a moment to gaze upon the largest Tiffany clock in the world from the busy Pershing Square plaza.
Heading back inside, it's time to travel back in time to the Roaring 20s and see a speakeasy style bar that, a century ago, served as the private office of one of New York’s most prominent railroad tycoons.
After a foray into the Whispering Gallery, where you’ll learn just how whispered secrets travel across the busy interchange to be perfectly heard on the other side, you’ll get a peek at one of the largest lost-and-found departments anywhere in the world. Then, peruse the handcrafted designs and jewelry on sale from local artisans in the Graybar Passage before stepping into a fascinating former movie theater, where travel-weary youngsters could enjoy some entertainment back in Grand Central’s heyday.
Last but not least, you’ll weave through the colorful Grand Central Market before making your way back to the main concourse, having gotten a true insider’s look at the most famous train terminal in the world.

Kevin was great. Very fun and informative
90 minutes standing with a little walking for this interesting tour, mostly about the history of GCT. I was expecting we would get to some parts of the terminal where the public doesn’t get to go but that wasn’t the case. Our tour guide Max was energetic and kept a good momentum throughout. He showed quite a few historical pictures on an iPad which helped understand the history of the building.
I booked the tour at the last minute. The guide never showed up. Or if (s)he did show up, it was somewhere inside the massive grand central station full of thousands of people and Viator never provided instructions on how to find the guide. When I called the tour operator to get help, they were an overseas co. and were closed for the evening even though it was only 3pm in New York. They did not provide me with a tour and now they won't refund my money. Viator and the tour co. are both unethical! Beware doing business with them.
Aaron was very welcoming, informative and generous with his insights. A very enjoyable experience and certainly a guide and tour to recommend. Many thanks Simon & Angela
Wonderful experience with Aaron as our guide! He is extremely knowledgeable and flexible in his tour. He provided many interesting details about the terminal and the city. I was surprised at things I had overlooked on previous visits. Highly recommend doing this tour. Whether you are local or from out of town!
Anna P was a great guide! Wear your walking shoes, there are no seats.
Our tour of Grand Central Terminal was absolutely fantastic. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting New York. Aaron and Cici were incredible — energetic, engaging, and unbelievably knowledgeable. They brought the history of the terminal to life with fun stories, fascinating facts, and a contagious enthusiasm that made the entire tour unforgettable. If you want a deeper appreciation for one of NYC’s most iconic landmarks, this is the tour to take.
Aaron was an amazing and informative
Great tour! . Our guide Kevin, was very informative & engaging. answered all questions. I’m a Local New Yorker, but never knew the history of Grand Central Terminal. Highly recommend for all visitors.
Kevin did an amazing job, best tour
Anna P was awesome very knowledgeable.
Good tour guide. Interesting places. Seemed a bit rushed at times, but we did learn a lot about a unique site.
Anna was a fantastic guide. Very very informative & made the tour amusing in places. Definitely worth the money.. Thank you Anna
Very interesting! Good tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared historical pictures of the building and now I'm curious to learn more.
Ana was excellent she is very knowledge and I would take any tour she was running
Anna was a great tour guide! Great even for new yorkers
A WONDERFUL Tour!!! Our guide really did an amazing job showing us all the fascinating aspects of Grand Central Terminal!!!
Anna gave us a lovely tour. In addition to all the facts and information about GCT, she also told us her guesses about obscure GCT history, such as what happened to the eagle statues (they flew away, of course). Fun and educational.
Really enjoyed the tour with Anna. I learnt some fascinating facts and we covered lots of ground, inside and outside the terminal. The extra hearing devices helped us to keep up when sirens and the general background noise of the terminal would have drowned out her commentary otherwise. All in all, a delightful tour of this iconic (and now even more beautiful and impressive) location. A real treat - just do it!
Anna was so charming and very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the Grand Central Terminal tour and highly recommend to anyone interested in the history of that amazing place.
Experienced, passionate guide. Plenty to see at the Central Station!!
Anna was fabulous. So knowledgeable and patient With us due to late arrival.
Awesome Aaron. He gave us so much wonderful information. We were a few minutes late and Shelly got us to the tour guide. Great customer service! Highly recommend this tour. So much history!
Wonderful tour with Aaron ….so Knowledgeable and personable!! We learned so much! And Shelly was also very helpful and friendly! Would definitely recommend!!
Aaron (tour guide) was great: personable & informative!
As a native New Yorker, I thought I knew pretty much everything there was to know about Grand Central Terminal. Sure, I knew a lot, but this tour educated me about several things I never knew or realized about GCT. The tour was well worth the price and the time. The tour guide we had was both knowledgeable and entertaining.
Wonderful tour, Anna was very entertaining and was quick to answer any questions we had….about any part of the tour information!!
Great way to learn the history of the station organ and incarcerations through the years into the present. I especially liked that ear pieces were provided so nothing the learned guide said was missed. I highly recommend this if you’re considering a tour. I do wish the instructions on where to meet were clearer. The station is very busy and the general “by the clock” wasn’t enough. They need to amend it state they have a ticket booth along the wall to check in at.
Aaron was a great guide, thanks!
Very informative with Anna Thanks

We enjoyed hearing about the history of this beautiful terminal, inside and out. Anna was an excellent tour guide!!
A comprehensive four and Anna was very knowledgeable. The use of headsets was great as there is a lot of background noise both inside and outside the station.
Anna provided a great tour-answered all our questions and was so sweet
This was a very thorough and detailed tour of Grand Central including inside and outside. We covered far more than I expected! Our guide, Anna, wad delightful!
