Reviews
It was a good experience it was a little difficult to find him when we arrived but we did stand by the statue and did find him
I think there’s two items that cause this to be a poor review: foremost I expected more for the cost. Not quantity, time was defined. Quality was lacking. The guide showed us pieces where I’d question why we were reviewing the story of one piece when a more extravagant one nearby with more onlookers were there. Art is subjective for sure. Popularity is something. Happy we saw a Monet piece and Van Gogh piece. Surprised no mention of the Water Lilies piece. Some very large pieces from Japan had many people crowded around. We looked at samurai armor. I can appreciate the armor, but it was one of a number of instances where me and my children were in awe of something in another room nearby and we were looking from afar. Second was the guide. I would have loved having him if it was myself and a partner. I was there with 3 kids 11-17, and an 84 yr old mom (details I submitted). The guide spoke softly and with a thicker accent that I could understand… but the rest of my family could not. The couple (as it turns out, they were Eastern European - the guide was Spaniard and spoke with a thicker accent and it was clearly a challenge for them too) that was in our group actually commented on this to him right away (“we don’t understand you, can you at least speak louder?”). I think for the cost, knowing the ages I provided, and the note I made about an older person (who is strong and walked the whole tour with the group), I would expect attention to that detail in scheduling
Went for the RAPHAEL exhibit. It was easy to find, we'll laid out, and full of wonderful painting and drawings. A bit crowded; but that's vto be expected with this kind of show.
The Met opens at 10 am. Our guide asked us to meet him inside. You need to get there early so you can be close to the front of the line to get in. I would suggest meeting the guide outside
If I could give no stars I would. They don't tell you that there are massive lines outside the Met so when you go to meet up, you essentially won't make it on time and I think they count on that. They denied my refund for an experience that we never got to participate in and they took a couple of days to respond. Every attempt to contact the company at the time of the tour was unsuccessful. Scam.
It was hard to understand the guide. He rushed through the tour & did not thoroughly explain each exhibit. We thought this was a 2 hour tour & we finished in 90 minutes. The guide kept saying we need to finish.
Our tour guide was excellent, he had an accent but was easy to understand, he was very knowledgeable and tried to give us a well rounded tour as the met has so much to see! He was great and added to our experience!
Great experience exploring the exhibits throughout the museum impossible to finis in one day-so book two
Had a fantastic time. Our guide was very informational, and it was pleasant to also know that he spoke our Spanish language.
Our tour guide provided great details for getting around the museum and things to see. Loved going through and seeing all the beautiful art. Was very easy to get around on the self guided tour.
Jesse really targeted the major things to see and the two hours flew by. Kids were engaged and Jesse was lovely!
We truly enjoyed our tour at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The experience was even more meaningful thanks to our guide, Mr. Raimundo, who was exceptionally kind and highly knowledgeable. He explained each artwork with clarity and passion, making the history and significance of the pieces easy to understand and appreciate. I especially appreciated how he focused on the most important and iconic pieces in the museum, providing detailed explanations and interesting insights behind each one. His storytelling made the tour engaging and memorable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this tour—especially with Mr. Raimundo as a guide.
This was an excellent tour. Raimaumdo was our guide and made the tour as he was so knowledge and passionate about the art. We saw so much including the VanGoughs- Monet, Venus and Washington crossing Delaware.
They will be in awe of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Also they will need to come back over and over
Be on time and wear comfortable walking shoes! You will cover a lot of ground! You may want to revisit or check out more after the tour is over, but be prepared to stay close to your guide.
Our tour guide Alex was awesome!!! Fun and so Informative! MET not crowded. Recommend a guided tour!
We're so glad we opted for the guided tour. Our tour guide, Alex, was very knowable of not only the artwork and artifacts but the history of the museum. He had a lot of back stories that made the tour very interesting.
I'm glad we had a tour guide. The Met is huge. Without him I think I would have gotten lost. I'm also glad we had a early time slot. In the afternoon the museum gets crowded.
It was a very good Experience with Alex!! Thank you so much!!! I’m sure that without him we couldn’t see as many good art as we saw at the museum.
We did the guided tour with Alek. The Museum is huge, with so much to see, and Alek did a great job of walking us through the highlights with excellent commentary along the way. At the end of the tour, he provided helpful advice to those of the group who wanted to explore further on their own.
The guide never come. We waited one hour! The museum's staff tell us: the guide is tall and his name is Alexander. But now he is not serious too... We are very disappointed and Angry. We Will give bad publicité...
Guide was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour! His enthusiasm made the experience better than expected.
The guide never showed up. When I called the number for help, they kept hanging up on me. When we checked with the Met staff, the guide had not checked in. Very disappointing.
Alex our guide was very insightful and precise taking us around the museum. I wish we had taken time to explore it more. It felt rush.
Our tour guide, Alex was very knowledgeable about the museum and the art pieces on display. He was very energetic and we enjoyed his tour. The museum is huge so it would be impossible to see everything in one visit. The 2 hour tour gave us an overview of the museum but we didn't get to spend much time in any one area. You are able to stay at the museum beyond the tour though so you do have chance to revisit your favourite areas or explore further. The roof garden is stunning and worth a visit to see the incredible New York skyline. The queues to get into the museum were quite long but they try to move you through security as quickly as possible. The museum has a number of cafes but we didn't try them out.
Very informative visit to the museum. The guide Pedro is very nice and friendly. It is a massive museum! We had a small group which was really nice.
Alex was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. He clearly loves this museum. He was willing to take us to see any items of special interest to our group, which was just two of us. One word of warning, Alex moves fast, so if you have difficulty walking or prefer a slower pace, This may not be the tour for you. But if you want to experience as much of the museum as possible, then I highly recommend it.
Alex was an excellent guide! He got us through a brief overview of the museum in 2 hours. It’s exactly what I wanted, so I know for next time!
Awesome tour guide. Thorough overview and learned so much. I really walked away understanding the history and collections.
It will be tiring to walk so much, but it will also be eye-opening and entertaining. I learned a lot
My guide was great and made it so interesting even though I am not into art. However, I can appreciate it.
I'm a Native New Yorker who has never been to the Met. Alex was very knowledgeable and patient with our questions and curiosities.
Our guide Alex was very knowledgeable on the Metropolitan Museum. In two hours he was able to show us all the highlights of the museum. I definitely recommend getting a guide if it is your first time visiting the museum because it can be overwhelming. Alex's enthusiasm and love of the museum was awesome!
Nice overview of what’s in the Met -was able to see the scope of what’s available for future visits along with some interesting information about the Met
Manny was our tour guide and was awesome! He was nice and very knowledgeable about the museum history and the art. He told stories that added a lot to the art we were looking at.
Tour says it starts at 10:00 from inside the Met, but the doors don’t open until 10. There is no option to get there early. There is typically a line to get in and security at that point but we (family of 4) got in and were at the meeting spot by 10:04. Another guide from Attractions4Us found his group at the same spot we were waiting and said that we were in the right place and to be patient as he had seen our guide around. We waited 20 more minutes and then called the Attractions4Us and they said we didn’t check-in and our tour guide Manny left without us. He took our tickets with him and there was no way for us to find him or get our tickets I asked for a reschedule, but they had no other openings on the day and they said it was our fault for not being on time for our guide. They offered no refund. I suspect the company is a good tour company but I question their practice for tours to start from inside when there is no option to get there early. Also, I question their practice of allowing tour guides to not even check for members of their group before starting. If we would have been assigned to the other guide, we would have been found. The other guide had obviously come to find his group at the spot we were supposed to be at. I think Manny was just avoiding having a full group and took the easy out by not checking for the rest of his group. I’m sure he was paid the same regardless of ditching us. I also wander what he went and skelped our tickets too.
Not worth it. Though our guide was nice, we could have enjoyed the experience more with a free guide or on our own.
Getting to see parts of the museum that I was not even aware existed. He took us to see many paintings that I would have missed
We had an amazing time with guide Alex! He was very knowledgeable and guided us through the expansive museum. There is no way you could visit this museum without a guide or someone who knows the exhibits joining you. We enjoyed the tour and he stayed awhile after to ensure we found our way to where we wanted to spend more time in the museum.
Alex was very knowledgeable and professional. He was great! Covered a lot in a 2 hour time period. Highly recommend him.
Alex was an exceptional guide at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, and ensured we made the most of our time. His insights brought the art and history to life, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Alex was an incredible tour guide! I’d been to the Met several times before and yet Alex showed us sections I didn’t even know existed! Worth every penny! Also, Alex’s vast knowledge and passion for art is infectious! Wonderful tour
I purchased the tour ticket and it got canceled. Viator only gave me back 12 dollars. It was canceled by the museum but Viator didn’t help. The museum called me directly and we took care of it. It was very confusing and unorganized.
Guide was pleasant but disorganised and we felt was scant on information about the museum, its history and contents.
Alex is best guide ever. He was knowledgeable, great sense of humor with many unknown and interesting stories about the artists and benefactors which were fascinating to hear as well as selecting pieces and pointing out details I may not have noticed thus enhancing the whole experience
Amazing selection of world class art and antiques. So happy we found the time to visit. We will be back.
The Met is amazing! This tour was perfect for us, as we are seniors we did not want to spend hours attached to a guide. Alex helped when we needed him but let us go on our own, at our own speed. We could have used a little more advice ahead of time, such as "The museum doesn't open until 10:00AM" There is a handicap entrance and where it is, and there are no restaurants in the area on 5th Ave.(but there are food trucks in front)
The museum was spectacular and the tour guide was great. Had a difficult time finding the tour guide. The meeting location was 81st and 5th avenue. We spent 15 minutes trying to locate the guide!!! Thanks to the museum’s staff we finally found him!!!!
It was interesting, we did a self tour. We were supposed to meet our guide at the 81st and fifth Avenue entrance. We went there and got sucked into the line going into the building. Which was fine but once inside we had no clue what to do and we went to the tour guide meeting area and they had no clue, the nice guy took his upstairs to the upstairs tour meeting area and told us to wait by the pharaoh. He said in case your tour guide checks in up here. He assured us if you checked in downstairs, he would send him up. The meet up time is noon, we were there about seventeen minutes to noon. And waited until almost 20 after. Thankfully the nice gal that worked at the met helped us to get tickets even though she had no record of the tour. So we missed our orientation but the nice young lady from The Met saved the day. Huge place, probably need 2 + visits to take it all in.
