This experience is well worth it. The museum provides an excellent history of how the Statue was built and the ideas behind it. There is an excellent interactive display at the museum where you take a picture of your family, the country you come from, and then that appears on their big screen behind. Lot of stats of which countries visitors come from, I thought that was good fun. My only negative - when you arrive for the ferry, everyone was in a nice orderly queue. For some reason the guy operating the queue then makes you bunch up at the entrance, telling you to fill every space, and then you have the ridiculous situation where we have a row 50 people across trying to get into a space of 3 across. It was utter stupidity. The queue would have moved quicker, we were all in order? It irritated me so much for being so dumb I had to comment on it.
The staff and experience is pretty much like being herded like cattle, they treat you like you’re annoying them! It does cause one to reflect on our ancestors arriving in a crowded ship in a new country, but the staff could show more empathy for those who are paying their wages!
Exceeded expectations. Museum was fascinating and very informative.
Use official site, worth the trip
Absolutely awesome, not to be missed. 2nd time there, still wouldn't miss it. Great value for money. Fabulous to see her from the back for once. every picture you see is front taken. Plenty time to sit back and chill at cafe or out watching the boats enter and leave Manhattan, beautiful views. Ferry staff are A1, so nice friendly & helpful. They assist disabled completely, however once on the boat, its every man for themself (lol), but everyone is so friendly and most will help and assist. Dont go without doing this and Ellis Island. 10 stars
Had a wonderful afternoon. Ferry pick up and drop off was easy to use. All personnel were kind and helpful. Our day trip was perfect. Not too crowded. And the Statue is amazing to see her close up.
Was very nice, make sure to dress for the weather. Vas very brisk on the cruise ship. Would recommend again
Don’t go on a holiday or anniversary event! Traffic is a nightmare! The actual viewing of Lady Liberty was amazing!
We really enjoyed the whole Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island experience and would definitely recommend it, especially if it’s your first trip to New York. We booked the 9:00am ferry with Statue City Cruises and I’m really glad we chose an early time. It wasn’t too busy, everything at Battery Park was easy to find, and security and boarding were really smooth with no waiting around. The boats were clean and comfortable and you could choose whether to sit or stand wherever you wanted, which made it really easy to get good views and photos of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline on the way over. Liberty Island was definitely the highlight for us. Seeing the Statue of Liberty up close is really impressive and the island itself is lovely to walk around. We had pedestal tickets, which were worth doing, although we would have liked to visit the crown too. Crown tickets weren’t available when we booked, so I’d definitely recommend booking those well in advance if that’s something you want to do. We also visited the Statue of Liberty Museum and really enjoyed it. It explains the history of the statue, how it was designed and built, and added a lot to the experience. We spent around an hour to an hour and a half on Liberty Island, which felt about right for us, before taking the ferry across to Ellis Island. Ellis Island was interesting and the views were nice, but personally it wasn’t as much our thing. I think if you’re particularly interested in immigration history you could spend a lot of time there, but for us Liberty Island was much more memorable. The ferries between Liberty Island, Ellis Island and Manhattan were frequent enough and we never felt stuck anywhere. If you just miss one you may have a short wait, but nothing unreasonable. Overall, the whole experience was really well organised and easy from start to finish. Statue City Cruises did exactly what we needed them to do, and the Statue of Liberty itself absolutely lived up to expectations. I’d happily recommend the whole experience.
The only tour company that takes you into the statue. Hard to find the castle ticket office though as the park is under construction. So many other guys trying to sell tickets to you. Nice cruise over and back. Many steps up to the pedestal though unless you take the elevator
This was one of the highlights of our 5 day trip to NYC. The island ferry staff were very helpful and supportive (I went with my elderly father) and they helped us fast track the queue. When we got to the island, they had wheel chairs available FOC to use. we went around the island in about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace talking multi photos. Nice way to spend half a day.
Visiting the Statue of Liberty was a must for me — you really can’t say you’ve been to NYC without seeing this iconic landmark. Crown tickets were long gone by the time I checked, so I grabbed Pedestal Access instead, and it was still a great experience. The ferry ride over was a fun little adventure. We went first thing in the morning, and the wind made the crossing a bit choppy, but it was only about 15 to 20 minutes. The climb up to the pedestal was a solid workout with an amazing payoff at the top. The Statue of Liberty Museum is included with all tickets. It is small, easy to explore, and filled with interesting exhibits about the statue’s construction, symbolism, and history. The original torch on display is a true “wow” moment.
What a spectacular place to visit. The museum is amazing one of the best ones that I've been to in a long time. Extremely interactive. The gift shop has a lot of cool things to keep as memorabilia to offer. I really liked the stamps that they have at the side of the gift shop. They're free. They have the date you visited and the Statue of Liberty on the ink. I recommend stamping any bills you have in your wallet and keeping them or giving them away. You can also buy memorabilia from the vendors outside for really good prices. The views of the city are out of this world there's not a bad place to take a picture from. Overall you really feel like you're a part of history when you get on the island.
Visited Statue of liberty and Ellis Island. Little disappointed with Ellis. We went there so we could look up our family names and it was closed.
Well worth the trip. Staff and signage helpful in navigating the crowd. Enjoyed both the Statue and Ellis Island stop equally.
This was an awful experience. I selected August 16th at 4:30 through the viator website. When the confirmation came back it was scheduled for August 14th which I was unable to make it. I reached out to viator and they told me there was no refunds. They could not adjust the date and nothing they could do so I didn't even get to experience it. I tried calling the phone number that was provided for the local operator and there is no option to speak with a person. It was just a bunch of automated systems regardless of what prompt so this was a horrible experience and about 160 bucks I wasn't even asking for a refund , I was just asking for the date that I actually selected
Nobody showed up. Instructions were poor. We had to take ourselves to the ferry and walked around. The experience was lovely but this is not tour - you are just buying ferry tickets.
This was a great experience. The ferry boat was a great ride. We were able to view the Liberty museum for free. I really enjoyed the entire experience.
I would give this experience a zero if I could since I did not attend. My flight was unexpectedly delayed 6 hours and we missed our tour. I spent 3+ hours on the phone with Viator trying to proactively reschedule my tour for another day I was in the city. Their customer service was a complete waste of time. They have no ability to work with or coordinate with any of the tour operators they are associated with and despite my extreme efforts, never was able to reschedule. They held strong on their cancellation policy and just kept reading off a screen with no resolution. Do not book anything ahead of time of time with Viator. I am out my entire payment. I Also tried to work with the tour operator myself but they can’t do anything when you book through a third party. I didn’t want to cancel, just reschedule due to circumstances out of my control. Their customer service was incapable of accomplishing anything and not sure why they even exist. So, unless you expect your day to go as planned with 110% certainty, do not book with Viator.
Visiting the Statue of Liberty was an unforgettable experience. Seeing this iconic landmark up close and learning about its history made the visit even more meaningful. It’s a must-see attraction for anyone visiting New York City.
Seeing the Statue of Liberty in person is an unforgettable experience. It is truly monumental and historic. I highly recommend taking the ferry right to Liberty Island to see it up close and get the best photos. As a bonus, you get spectacular, panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline from the water. Definitely book your tickets in advance, as it gets very crowded!
Great experience with great views of the city. The museum was insightful and the gift shop was quite large. There is a small Cafe on the island for food but was a bit pricey.
The Statue of Liberty is one of those landmarks that somehow still delivers even after seeing it in a thousand photos and movies. Getting there is part of the experience, the ferry ride from Battery Park (or Liberty State Park in NJ) gives you a great approach with the skyline behind you and the statue slowly coming into view. Once you're on Liberty Island, there's more to do than I expected. Walking the grounds gives you different angles and close-up views of the statue and pedestal, and the small museum inside covers the history and construction in a way that's engaging without being overwhelming. If you book ahead, you can go up to the pedestal or even the crown for an extra fee, the views from up there are worth it if you don't mind a bit of a climb and tighter security screening. Ellis Island is usually paired with the trip since the ferry ticket often includes both stops, and it's worth the extra time. The immigration museum there is genuinely moving, especially if you have family history tied to that era. A few practical notes: lines for security and ferry boarding can get long, especially in peak summer months, so getting an early time slot helps a lot. Food options on the island are limited, so grabbing something beforehand is a good idea. Overall, it's a bit of a logistical undertaking with the ferries and security, but the payoff is worth it. Standing at the base looking up, or catching that skyline view from the water, is one of those genuinely memorable NYC moments.
The Statue of Liberty is easily one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks and a non-negotiable must-visit for any first-time traveler to New York City. To experience it, we booked a dedicated harbor cruise excursion, which is by far one of the most efficient and visually rewarding way. The excursion is a highly organized, roughly one hour loop traversing the historical waters of the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay. The ship cruises past the towering architecture of the Financial District and Wall Street, offering spectacular open water angles of the Manhattan skyline before swinging near the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and heading back. Midway through the cruise, the ship sails directly past Lady Liberty herself. Seeing her up close in person, a monument that feels intimately familiar from countless movies and photographs, is a genuinely moving experience. The immense history of the site isn't lost on you; it is powerful to look at the statue and imagine the millions of historic immigrants who sailed these exact waters, seeing this very lady as their ultimate symbol of hope and entry into the American Dream. While the steady cruise rhythm can feel a bit monotonous for adults after the main photo opportunity, the kids absolutely loved it simply because it was an exciting boat ride on the harbor. It is a classic bucket list experience, once is probably enough, but it is entirely worth doing. Pro Tip: Sitting out on the open-air top deck gives you completely unobstructed panoramic views, but you are entirely exposed to the elements. There is no shade or wind protection up there. If you choose this deck, apply heavy sunscreen and bring layers. Better yet, avoid the harsh overhead glare of a midday trip; booking a late afternoon cruise provides the absolute best soft lighting for family photos, a cooler breeze, and a much more comfortable overall climate.
This was a really nice tour for the money that you pay. The guide was knowledgeable and I enjoyed seeing the sights If the Big Apple. I would definitely take this tour again
Super easy and fun way to go to Statue of Liberty and Ellis island , and even if u boarded from NYC and want to go to NJ , u just have to catch the cruise going to NJ … super convenient 👏
I wasn’t told until the day of my trip that ALL morning trips were moved to a much later time due to the VP giving a speech in the harbor. Therefore, the first boats were JAM PACKED with at least 800 people! Rudeness was winning! The screeners didn’t care at all that people were jumping the line all over the place. No one was held accountable to the chaos.
Great time we introduced our Grandson to some USA history
Since I was in New York, I have planned to visit here. Booked tickets online in advance. Cruise and snapping a photo was worthy. Landing on the island or not totally depends on personal need.
Booked through Viator, and the entire experience was smooth and hassle-free. The Statue of Liberty ferry tour was well organized, boarding was efficient, and the views of the Manhattan skyline were spectacular. Liberty Island was beautiful, and everything was easy to navigate. A fantastic experience and a must-do when visiting New York. Highly recommend booking through Viator!
Great visit from NJ side. There is plenty of parking, early morning, no crowd. We enjoyed the ferry, Ellis Island, and seeing the Lady Liberty up close and personal. The grounds keeping of the Liberty Museum was disappointing, but not as disappointing as the museum within the statue. Naturally, the cardboard cutouts and such were underwhelming. The Ellis Island exhibit, although mostly under construction, was much more impactful than the other parts of the excursion. I'm not sure I would recommend the pedestal visit, but being a local, I'm definitely biased about the value of the view from there. Overall, it was a great experience with some puzzling parts (bookstore vs. gift shop, etc.). I'm glad we did it early in the morning. On the way back, we witnessed a long line of visitors baking in the sun, waiting to board the ferry.
It was very confusing to find cruises location. Need to show the way to get there. There were many scammers on the way making confusing too.
Loved the statute of liberty tour an amazing experience I would do it again had an amazing time and the ferry was nice
Booking was a breeze. We didn’t have any issues getting to the boat, they even told us where to park once we got there, which was my biggest concern.
Absolutely recommend! We enjoyed the ferry ride, the visit to Liberty Island and the stop at Ellis Island. The ferry runs continuously, the trip was organized and the employees of the National Park are friendly and full of knowledge. We planned in advance and visited The Crown and it was definitely a highlight of our entire trip!
About slavery French contribution to ending slavery construction of stature of liberty the architecture of stature of liberty a wonderful place temperature atmosphere excellent food served superb people friendly respect each others people respect each other's people polite treat my family with dignity and respect
I didn’t get to use the tickets due to the rain and being told we had to stay the entire 3 hours outside. I couldn’t put my granddaughter in that situation due to her health concerns
It was too crowded and the line to get back on the boat was too long. I am a senior citizen and standing in the hot sun for 45 minutes elbow to elbow with hundreds of strangers nearly did me in. The water on the boat was too expensive and I really needed some hydration. I did like the museum.
The trip was good except due to a power outage we did not get the complete package. We were unable to travel to Ellis island even though we paid for that part of the tour. There was no explanation or reimbursement for the missing part of the tour. Only the boat crew member yelled to people, 'no power cannot go on shore.'
There was very little communication once we got to the drop off point. I had to ask several employees where to go because each told me the wrong info until one kind woman finally directed me to the correct spot. The tour itself was very disappointing because when we got to Ellis Island there was a power outage and the tour was canceled. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience.
This iconic piece of America is an absolute must see. Absolutely buy tickets ahead of time. We purchased tickets to the pedestal about two months ahead of time. I suggest going early in the day. When we arrived there was no wait to board ferry. The walk from the parking lot to the ferry dock I would guess to be about a quarter of a mile. Before boarding the ferry you will go through a security check. There are plenty of seats on the ferry. First and Second level is inside top level is outside. The views from the ferry of the skyline and the Statue of Liberty are stunning. There are restrooms and a snack bar on the ferry. Ellis island was closed when we were there because of a power outage. This was disappointing When arriving at the Statue of Liberty before you get on the elevator you will go through another security checkpoint. No large bags, back packs or food is allowed in the statue. You will be asked to store your items in a nearby locker - costs 25 cents and you do get your quarter back. Short wait for an elevator. You can walk around the entire outside of the statue. We took the elevator operators suggestion and walked back down. Strongly suggest if you can to take the stairs down There is a museum on the island which houses the original torch. There is also an informative movie and displays There is a large gift Large gift shop and cafe. Line was longer for our return trip but still there was plenty of room for everyone to sit. Super memorable day. Absolutely perfect
Stunning and iconic landmark in New York. An absolute must see via the boat trip, which also stops at Ellis island.
The boat and the island itself was cool. It’s definitely worth going and seeing there is a lot of history. There is food options on the island and a gift shop of course. We went when it was 60 degrees and it felt 10 degrees colder on the island so prepare a jacket if it’s cooler outside. The only thing was when we were getting on the boat there was a bunch of people at battery park yelling at people to go a certain way for a ferry even if they were just walking around and not going on a ferry. Once you get past that it’s a good experience
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! The highlight of our trip. The ferry journey was smooth with some wonderful views. Yes they pack the boat with a lot of people, but it doesn't subtract from the journey. The crew were friendly and offered to help me across the ramp when they saw I was walking with a crutch. The views of statue of Liberty were wonderful and we had plenty of time to walk around Liberty Island. We didn't pay the extra to go up ti the Crown level of Lady Liberty, however still had an amazing time. The museum was informative and great to explore. Although the queue was long when we went to board the ferry off of Liberty Island, it was not a long wait and again proved a comfortable journey with further awe inspiring views of the NY skyline. We chose not to get off at Ellis as we had another booking to get to, but it looked like an interesting place to visit if you have the time. It took us about 3 hrs to look around the island and the ferry journey, so expect to spend at least this, if not more if you do Ellis Island too. It is definitely a worthwhile and awesome visit.
I was the tour included going into the statue of liberty we were not able to. He said that we did not get that with our trip
A very smooth and easy trip to see the amazing lady. We went up to the crown which was amazing and hot. Ferry was a smooth ride and had great views. Highly recommended
I had been trying to get to the statue since I was in my 20s. I was finally there and I loved the historic value to the statue. If you want to walk up to the crown you must reserve almost a year ahead. I didn’t book on time to get inside but I got to take the ferry to see her up close and it includes the museum of liberty free. Worth the visit and only was about $28 with tax
I would feel like a traitor if I didn’t give lady liberty 5 stars, but she legitimately earned it. All four of my grandparents were immigrants in the early 1900’s and my first glimpse of her across the harbor had me reaching for the tissues. We did not take the pedestal or crown options. I mainly wanted to see the statue and the views are better looking up at her. It is truly an iconic and impressive symbol of our nation. Take time to stop at the free museum on the grounds, it is worth it. The tour takes you by boat from battery park, to Liberty Island then to Ellis Island and returns to the start. You can get off and spend as much time as you want in each place but then you have to wait in line for the ferry again. They leave every 20 minutes, but you might have to wait for the next one if they are full. We purchased our tickets online and the cost is $26, but we got $3 off for being seniors over 62. Also, remember to give yourself plenty of time because the security lines are long.
Great experience for a good price. Easy to find and was let in early. We could leave on any ferry and was on our own time. Great trip and easy experience
