The tour and Jared was super great.
Jarred was such an amazing tour guide!!!! He presented the history and the stories in such a fun and digestible way. He was very interactive with the group and was great at answering questions that came up through the tour. You can tell how knowledgeable and passionate he was about the history and enjoyed doing the tour. Would highly recommend to anyone who is curious about this tour to do it and to make sure you book with Jarred!
Jared was AMAZING! What a storyteller he is. He kept us engaged the whole time, with not only his profound knowledge of NY’s history, but also with funny jokes and banter along the way. He was truly the best tour guide I’ve had for a ghost tour yet. He even influenced us into checking out the Merchant’s House Museum during our stay. Fingers crossed we’ll feel that presence when we go! I would give ten stars if I could. So much fun, I would recommend this tour to anyone! Thanks so much for such a great time.
The NYC Gangsters and Ghosts Tour was fantastic from start to finish! Our guide, Jarred, was incredibly informative, eloquent, and deeply knowledgeable about the city's mob history and ghost lore. He kept the entire group entertained with brilliant storytelling that brought the past to life. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York!
I always book my tours in twos (usually using two completely different tour companies). It helps to offset if one tour goes bad, I usually have one good tour for the day. And today helped to justify that practice. My previous tour today took me through places with great ambience, but it felt short, not-well-fleshed-out and the tour guide was pointlessly abrasive on a few occasions. Thankfully, the tour that is the subject of this review was much better. First off, the tour guide was on-point and came off as a real professional. From the very beginning, I knew I was getting some high-quality presentation (high clarity, well-rehearsed) Even under pressure and weird situations, he kept his cool and remained affable. Even more than that, and the thing that most drew me in was the apparent enthusiasm for the topics. Like you were hearing from someone that really liked talking about mafia history And boy did he know alot. Sometimes I do these ghost tours and think: "yeah, with enough practice, I could probably do that. In fact, maybe I could do a better job". With this tour, there was no question that this guy was operating on a different level. I could never hope to memorize the depth of facts he had amassed about the topic and as before, spoken with such clarity and enthusiasm about the topic. And boy, I did enjoy the stories and the extra asides that help to reinforce them. One story especially that reinforced how very real all of this mafia stuff was and had me going "wow". Genuinely, shocked and impressed by what I heard. To be fair, the 2nd portion of the tour didn't impact me as much, because most of the "ghost portion of the tour" was things I'd heard on other tours. So as we approached various locations, I already knew what was coming before he got there. Even so, I really liked the final story which was a ghost story I hadn't heard. In the end, I felt something very rare that I don't often feel after ghost tours have ended: satisfied. Like I just ate a big meal and couldn't eat another bite.. So all-around excellent work. I can't recommend this tour (and my tour guide) enough.
It is hard to rate as some things were good and some things were not. The email confirmation gave an address of 24 Mulberry but that was a closed flower store in China Town. We thought we had the wrong place until 2 other couples showed up. Turns out the guide was across the street at the corner. No where did it say to meet across the street, nor that there was a flower shop at 24 Mulberry. The guide was very nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable. But she walked and talked fast, and at times we were left on one side of the crosswalk because she didn't check to see where we were before she crossed. I like to take pictures on vacation and so I would need to practically run to keep up. The origin story took a lot longer than I was ready for and was anxious to get to the good stuff. Sometimes her animated story telling would get in the way of the "feeling" of a gangsters and ghost tour, high fives for correct quiz answers and awarding points that didn't matter. The tour is heavy on gangsters but light on ghost. If you already know your NYC gangsters, you probably won't learn anything, but tour some of the locations. Educational, but not too shocking or scary.
It was a great tour. Jackson, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and patient (there was one particular person on the tour who was very very attention seeking, annoying, loud, possibly inebriated and disruptive). It was a wonderful way to spend a Halloween night. He asked us to share our ghost stories as well. Our tour group was quite large and he was very careful to make sure that we were all caught up with each other and he patiently waited for anyone who wanted to peer inside (Old St. Pat's gate/porthole) the clothing shop that was formerly The Raven Club. He had interesting stories of how a real former Chinese gangster and an 80+ year old man who knew The Dapper Don gave impromptu enhancements to tours a couple of times.
jared was our tour guide and he did a phenomenal job handling a rather large crowd. super knowledgeable, engaging, energetic, and entertaining. 10/10 would recommend
Jared was great even tho we had a large group. Great experience
Marielle was our guide and she brought such joy and enthusiasm to the tour. This is a great experience whether you're going solo or part of a small group to explore the spooky side of New York.
Marielle was the best. So informative.
Jackson was a great tour guide! Great story teller, kept the group engaged, also good vocal cadence especially in some more noisy spots. The late night option was nice, gave a creepy feel and the neighborhoods weren’t as crowded.
A nice route through Chinatown and Little Italy, filled with story's told by Jackson. Excellent enthousiast guide.
Marielle was an enthusiastic tour guide.
Marielle was awesome! We loved the tour.
Tour guide kept adding subtle political comments as a reference to the current political climate that didn't seem necessary as part of the tour.
This was an amazing experience! I wasn’t sure how if I was going to enjoy it as my friend booked this for us. But it was so fun and so interesting. Our guide, Scott, was so captivating to listen to and knew so much about mob and ghost history around the city. There was a bathroom break about halfway through and a few sitting breaks. Thank you Scott for being so kind and taking us on a great tour around the city!
Had a great time! Gabe was so engaging and knowledgeable.
Our guide, Jared, was fantastic. The tour group itself was a little too large to feel close, like we were sharing a campfire story experience, but I don't hold that against the guide. I wish there were more stories per hour, but overall it was a great experience I would happily recommend to others.
An amazing experience! Jackson is a knowledgeable guide whose storytelling is captivating and interesting. The walk was doable and paced right, not to mention great evening weather. It was fun to meet other people who joined the tour. Directions were clear and meeting spot easy to find. Not to be missed.
Jackson is a fantastic tour guide!! Our cab was late and he made accommodations to have us meet the group at the next stop on the tour!! This tour is a great walking tour!!!
Jared was an amazing tour guide! He was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Tours like this are good or bad depending on your guide and hex very good.

Jackson was great! I planed to tell him about New York history and he made it. And kept it fast-paced. Great way to see a lot in a short amount of time.

Scott gave a great tour. Great energy and enthusiasm. Lots of interesting info. He really seemed to enjoy the history he shared. Would definitely recommend.
We did the Gangsters and Ghosts tour, and it was a great way to spend a Saturday night learning about NYC's dark history--both the real-life crime and supernatural kind. Our guide, Jackson, was a superb storyteller and had lots of recommendations for additional books and resources if we wanted to dig further into a particular story. The tour was easy to find, and guided us through Chinatown, Little Italy (primarily immigrant gang history with a few ghosts stories in between), before moving into West Village and the eerie haunts in that neighborhood. Overall, a great night out!
We loved it. Scott was very informative, thorough, and articulate in his story telling of gangsters and ghosts in Manhattan.
Thanks to Stevie for the lovely time and nice stories. It was a nice walk.
Tour was great and very accommodating. One person in my party was unable to finish but the half we did was fantastic!
