New York City Central Park Bicycle Rental

Functional - bicycles are old and very heavy, with gears that don’t change easily. Shop staff were not very friendly. Didn’t check if bikes fitted well or everyone was clear on how gears worked. No park maps available. Served a purpose.

We booked for a nice price via Viator, being around 60 dollar voor 4 bikes for 5 hours. Really a bargain. But by the cashier we were more or less forced to pay the full price even after doubting about the price she entered in her system. They said that it would be arranged after paying. The manager apologized by saying that the cashier was new. The end of the story, for now I paid around 200 dollar and used the bikes only for 1,5 hours due to the quality of the bikes. Shift gears not working properly. Still waiting for a refund that they promised. Stay away or make sure the payment is done correctly for you.

Great way to get around and see Central Park with the kids. Had opportunities to stop and take in the sites and enjoyed a picnic. Staff were friendly and helpful, they provided advice and recommendations. The bikes were a little old and worn but did the job.

The weather was just perfect, so we decided last minute to do this bicycle tour with... 48 people. We had such a great time, thanks to a perfect organization chich provided good bikes for a special ride in NY

We had booked this had everything we needed (tickets and address) to get our bikes. Went to the bike shop listed on the address and was told we were at the wrong place. They were rude and very unhelpful. They told us we needed to go to another location a block away. When we got there the process was overly complicated to get our bikes. Employees did not help with helmets or setting the bikes up for us. No instruction before we left. The actual ride in Central Park was great but the process to get there was terrible. Would not recommend this.

Poorly maintained bikes, terrible customer service, unfriendly staff, unsafe environment. Very aggressive manager.

Kindly note: the review/one star is purely for this bike centre, NOT Viator. Thanks Viator team for processing my refund application. Went to central park to get our bikes at the first store we see (near the main roads), but they told us that there were multiple outlets and we had to walk further after Starbucks to get our bikes from another outlet - this was our fault for not seeing where the pick up was Kept walking till we saw the second outlet. We were greeted by this middle aged man who was all cheery but told us that it was not this outlet to get the bikes and to keep walking further down to get the bike... Fine...we checked the fine print again and we walked to the 117 outlet. The third outlet. At this point we wasted 30 mins already....at the third outlet we showed the young boy our booking and he was clueless...he said he will call his boss... Guess what?! The boss was the middle aged man we saw at the second outlet. Wow?! Like he could have just helped us there but we waited for him to walk to the third outlet...seriously?! This dude then said his system slow. Can't find ticket. He had to call a couple of people...this was more than 45 mins of waiting at this point and he asked for some ID...which he say he has to keep it for security. Or we had to pay $100 deposit. At this point my friends and I were extremely frustrated. We decided to request for refund on the spot. And when we told the guy we don't want. He was adamant in keeping my friend's ID but we managed to take the ID back into our hands and walked out. Scary experience as the middle aged man looked unhappy when we left so we walked faster. Unpleasant experience

The price for all day was very reasonable for 2 bikes. They were comfortable and easy to ride. The only part I didn't like was that we were smack in the middle of an estimated 30,000 riders in a bike tour the shop didn't happen to mention was going on. It was quite intimidating for an older couple that hadn't ridden for awhile. But once the tour cleared it was a lot easier. All-in-all, a nice time and the only realistic way to take in the entire park in a day.

Bike rental was a good price, but we were not provided with a map as advertised. Bikes are not well maintained and the one I rode did not shift to an easier gear so going up hills was difficult. Also, be aware that bikes are only allowed on the large outer path in Central Park. If you want to go on any of the interior paths, you have to walk your bike. Almost not worth it rent a bike if you want to go on the interior paths and see any of the sights.

Very convenient location without big crowds. Bikes are in good conditions, cheap and convenient way to spend time riding in central park in good weather

The bike was great, the experience overall was really good. The only thing I'm gonna comment is that I went to the address it said here but the store was closed, even after the time it was supposed to be open. Good thing there was another store to rent the same bikes really near.

We got a pretty good deal. The bikes were in excellent conditions. Next time we definitely come back.

2 hour bike ride is a perfect way to see the main areas of the park. The bikes were good and had great gears for the extra hilly areas of the park. They provide you with a map but you will need to keep your eyes open or you would miss some of the focal points

Bikes are unfortunately in poor condition, but quick clearance and pleasant servise. A lot of bikers otherwise.

Close to the park, easy access, quick checkin and bike pickup, decent bikes, such a nice 6 mile, 1 hour loop around the park I did ot twice! Good price too ;)

This was the 2nd time we'd rented bikes from this shop and - oh my God - the staff are all so irritable and miserable, first thing in the morning. A guy who seemed to be a boss was hovering around - looking more glum than the rest - and just giving off a bad vibe to staff and customers alike. New Yorkers are known to be pretty unfriendly but these guys take that to a new level. The bikes themselves were fine and we got what we paid for but how hard is it to treat your customers with a smile and some courtesy?

My son’s 10 year old birthday trip to Manhattan included some favorite things to do in NYC: bicycling thru Central Park. The JW Marriott concierge recommended them, so we rented two bikes for an early morning ride before other activities that day. I told the concierge when we got back to the hotel to never recommend them again. 2 miles from the store at East 90th St, my bike’s chain broke, rendering the bike useless other than to push it, or coast downhill. I called the store and they had NO other advice than to “just bring it back to the store, we won’t charge you a late fee if you’re late getting back”. No one to help, nothing. So, my son was relegated to walking HIS bike most of the way back too since I can’t send a 10 year old ahead on his own. I asked for a partial refund (only $5 of the $40 we spent) when we returned, but NO. They only gave me a business card (that on the back asked me to rate them on Trip Advisor, so like a rule follower , I am now!) for a free 2 hr rental the next time I came back. Well, that was yesterday and I am now home. Thanks for nothing, including customer service. Renter beware. I’ve never left a negative review until now, I try to be positive whenever I can, but this was a special trip for my son.

Me and my wife went for a 2 hours ride around the park which is enough for a full lap plus a bit of sitting around! One of the bikes was not in the best shape and we only realised when getting there and attempting to shift gears. On our way to the park we saw people with better quality bikes so you might want to research a bit of you’re specially if you’re planning to cycle for a little longer. For our 2 hours tour is was ok.

We rented bikes for six people. The staff were friendly and helpful. They ended up giving us a discount. We had a great time exploring Central Park. ...Will definitely rent from them again.

Dreadful service and no manners, absolutely no sense of how to treat a customer. Prices are very expensive too - would be more worthwhile to rent citi bikes near central park or go to other bike rentals with more competitive prices

Booked and paid online. Bikes were ready when we arrived. Girl at reception lacked customer service training but got the job done. Photo ID required (which they keep for duration). Bikes were good/okay - they set up seat hight for you, but also self adjustable. Gears were variable in quality between bikes. All bikes had at least 4 or 5 selectable gears (out of 15) which were able to be changed easily. So not perfect, but fine for the hills in central park. The lock chains worked fine. 5mins walk to central park entrance. Suggest visit free map and guide kiosk at entrance for map and advice on where to visit. We did full central park anticlockwise circular route, including visit to New York Historical Museum, Ice cream by model boat pond and a few other rest stops in 3 hrs.

Booked on line to get the better rate and that all worked well, on arrival we picked up our tandem that was also good, however we pushed it to the park as my wife was not confident on the NY. Roads and once we got to the park and rode the bike we found that the tyres had not been inflated correctly we perused with our journey and in the end it was such hard work and dangerous steering that we have up and pushed the bike back to the shop.... All I was met with was it was not that person fault...... I was very disappointed that the bike had not been checked before we left... it spoiled our adventure...tip of the day, make sure that the tyres have the right pressure in them you'll have a much better trip

My mom and I were hurrying to see Central Park before sunset since we were scheduled to leave early the next morning. We arrived at the bike rental station in the park right after they were closing so they nicely directed us to their location on 117 W. 58th St rather than crushing our dreams of biking the park. We rented a tandem bicycle there and had THE BEST ride around the park. We got to see the sunset and the beautiful skyline as well as the park. John and AJ were so helpful, efficient, and professional. This adventure is on the top of our list for our next NYC trip- maybe next time we'll catch the sunrise.

I took the bike after an on line reservation. The service in the store was very smooth and professional and the adventure was great. Next time I will also use their service.

The bikes rented from the Rentbike.nyc agency at 117 58th Street are far from being new and in good condition. The adjustment of the saddle by the person handing over the equipment is not at all suitable, much too low, we do it ourselves. Even more so, as we pass in front of the agency of the same rental company located at the very entrance to Central Park (near the Plaza hotel) and there, the bikes are much more recent and therefore in better condition.

Les vélos sont vétustes, je pouvais pas changer les vitesses et les poignées étaient toute collante, bonjour l'hygiène. Il n'y a pas bcp de casques à disposition. Les vendeurs ne sont pas hyper sympa.

Perfect, ordered from home everything went without problems. We arrived early to not be there in prime time so it probably took just the top of the panic feeling in NYC. Super tour around the park except that other local cyclists use the tour around as training on the racing bike and they drive very, very strong and are not so good at showing attention to us who want to see the tour in a calm pace. You don't have to rent a bicycle to see the sights around the park as you can't drive away and cycle on, you have to pull around. We drove up north in the park and explored that part and then we walked around in the southern area. Worked fine for us.

Très bonne prise en charge et tarif très correct . Le loueur est juste à côté de l entrée du parc. Nous avons pu choisir nos vélos .

Good choice to get to know Central Park completely. Walking you will only visit it partially bicycle you will visit it whole. If you order a lock, you get it for free so you can tie the bike when you want to visit something in detail.

Attention c'est quand même dangereux de faire du vélo dans New York et Central Park quand on a pas l'habitude et pour le retour nous n'avons pas trouvé la piste cyclable dans le sens inverse donc retour par le trottoir..... Très moyen....

Para ampliar la visión del parque es necesario conocer la totalidad del mismo y la mejor manera es una bicicleta, en 2 horas es más que suficiente a un ritmo bajo y parando hacer fotos cada 10”, que fue nuestro caso. Lo recomiendo. No es necesario hacer deporte con regularidad para realizar esta actividad.

Mooi dicht bij Central park, om de hoek. Fietsen niet echt super qua schakelen, ketting etc maar goed genoeg. 1 Fietsslot/ketting werkte ook niet dus eerst ff checken voor vertrek. Prijs zeer gunstig, dus al met al goed genoeg voor een geslaagde dag op de fiets door Central Park
