My husband and I booked a private photo safari for my son's 10th birthday. The three of us had a great time! Zim met us at our hotel, dove right into teaching us about composition, and was a fantastic guide the whole time! We really appreciated her clarity, succinct direction, and direct feedback. She had perfect spots to shoots NYC icons and helped us get just the right angles. Our son felt very proud of the shots he took and we all felt a lot more confident photographing the rest of our trip. Zim also had some great pizza recommendations for us after the tour. :) All-around wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

I had a fantastic time on the photo safari! Zim was an incredibly knowledgeable guide and made the whole experience fun and engaging. I walked away with some great shots and really improved my photography skills. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore the city with a camera in hand!
I had an amazing experience. In just three hours, I learned so much, and Zim even took the time to show me how to use my camera properly. I highly recommend it!
I had an amazing time on my photo safari. Zim was a great teacher and was so knowledgeable about photography composition. She helped me with the settings on my camera and showed me how to get the best out of it for the type of photography we were doing. Even though we didn't have the best weather it didn't diminish the experience I had. I took so many photos and got some great shots of the areas we covered.
WOW, our tour photographer was Zim, we learnt so much from her, from how to compose our photos for a more interesting and exciting shot to be more adventurous in looking at your subject. Her energy was awesome. If we had more time here would love to do another tour. Zim was the best.
I had a great experience with the photography workshop tour! We had a small group and the instructor was wonderful! Learned a lot of helpful photography tips!
I went on an amazing tour with David who taught me a lot about capturing NYC’s unique architecture and trained my eye for everyday street scenes.
Amazing lesson!!! Zim was so knowledgeable and I learned so much in just 2 hours. She works with you where you are at, and works on the things you would like to improve at.
Great way to learn photography and see the city! Rob is super knowledgeable and easy to talk to as he fills in the gaps in your knowledge and shows you the city in a way you didn’t see it before. Will change your phot outings forever, for the better!
I learned a lot to improve my photography. Zimm was knowledgeable with my camera, and taught me some things I didn't know
Super nice guy! Paid for the Subway and me and my daughter learned a lot! We both enjoyed the the little trip
Zim was AMAZING!!! Would definitely recommend her and this tour. My photos have improved tenfold. And I’ll say not again, Zim was the best guide 😃
Fantastic experience! Bruce K. is an expert arquitecture photographer and his advice was priceless, it turned out to be just my husband and I on the tour, so it was amazing to receive advice from such a talented photographer one on one. His work has been featured in many magazines and he was super generous sharing his knowledge with us. We well be doing more of this tours in the future when we return to NYC. This was one of the most enjoyable activities of our trip.
Instructor Zim had great tips for using my camera and creating outstanding photos. In addition to learning the secret to capturing NYC skyscraper icons, we learned to photo subway activity and neon signs. Now I have to return to my fave sites to apply my new skills! Thank you Zim!
What a cool way to learn about photography and see NYC from a different view! My wife and I really enjoyed our day out with Zim. We have always been interested in learning the basics of using a DSLR camera and we definitely got a lot of practice. Zim was a great guide who is not only an expert at what she does but has a warm and friendly personality. She took her time to explain concepts in detail and was super patient as we navigated the city and practiced taking shots. We were looking at things with new eyes by the end of the tour and discovered what may be a new hobby. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially to New Yorkers; it's a great way to reconnect with the city with a new pair of eyes.
I had already booked tours with this company and was highly satsified of the workshops. The guides are experienced professional photographers but they are able to transfer knowledge and experience without pulling rank. Although I have my camera (DSLR) for many years, embarassingly I learned options about the camera I wasn't aware. That was no different this time, I met Zim for a one-on-one session. This was excellent, a good mix of art (composition) and technology (handling the camera). I highly recommend to book a tour
The cap for participants is 8 so imagine my surprise when I arrived to find only myself with Zim, my safari guide for the morning. I know that I was lucky to get one-on-one, but it is also clear that Zim is quite capable of sharing her guidance and expertise across a full group. You will learn and grow regardless of how full your group. Zim took time initially to get to know me, my style, any special topics I shoot and - in particular - what do I hope to learn. And off we went. We walked the streets and rode the subway, as she led me to spots of photo opportunity, first leaving me to figure my best shot, then guiding me to expand my vison and incorporate other visual elements, angles nd lighting. Then off to the next location. You will come away with a nice collection of images that offer a look at NYC that you'll be proud to share. My Nikon is a relatively new purchase and Zim was super knowledgeable about helping me with settings and features (even though I'm pretty certain she's NOT a Nikon user herself). She has a wonderful balance of professionalism, sauciness and humor that make the 3 hours quickly and enjoyably flow. And you'll expanded your abilities. Don't hesitate - book your own safari with Zim!
This tour was more than expected! Not only did I see some incredible spots, but I also learned more about how to best use my camera to get the perfect shot! I highly recommend booking this tour.
This was more than I expected. I did the Iconic 2 tour in midtown and my guide was Fiona. Even though I only had an iPhone and just tagging along with a friend, Fiona showed me how to take great photos. The tour included stops at Grand Central and Bryant park and other other iconic locations too. The tour finished in Times Square which was perfect as it was close to our hotel. I would definitely do this again the next time I'm in NYC.
Such a great experience! I learned so much about photography and took some really great photos too! Would highly recommend.
It was great to learn finer details of digital camera use and iPhone camera use. It was great to learn how to compose a picture and make it interesting to the viewer. Excellent, professional guide who made it fun as we walked around. It was a small group so we were able to get individual attention and picture reviews as we clicked.
Great tour which improved my photography, showed me sights and more importantly was fun! We were taught a lot about composition, how to use our cameras better and a lot of technical information to help us understand light, depth of field etc. Sim was really thoughtful and brought us all hand warmers which were definitely needed as the temp was -10c.
Met with a small group and Zim, our photo guide, near the Empire State building. The group were visitors the NYC, the youngest 8 the oldest 70. I loved that Zim worked with us regarding the use of our cameras first -- and she is good. I am an advanced amateur and I learned a lot. Then we when on an Iconic tour of Midtown. She had us look for the creative, not just the prosaic. It upped the quality of my NYC photos for the whole trip. I heartily recommend this or one of the other NYC Photo Safari tours.
We did this for our daughter to help her learn how to use her camera. Little did we know that we would learn how to use our phone cameras as well! Zim was AMAZING and so great teaching our daughter how to use her camera correctly. She took the time to correct her wrongs and give us tips on how to take better pictures! Definitely recommend the NYC Photography Safari for any age!
Excellent guided tour! Received lots of helpful information and many valid tips! Zim is fantastic! Knowledgeable, with a sense of humor and tons of patience! Now she is my favorite instructor! I am happy that I live in NYC and could easily book another tour with her, which I am planning to do in two weeks. I will recommend NYC Photo Safari to everyone, it doesn't matter if you are a beginner photographer or not, you will learn a lot and will be absolutely in love with New York City!
I had the pleasure of spending 2,5 hours with Zim and I truly enjoyed our photo safari. My aim was not a sightseeing but I felt I needed some tips on composition, some help regarding how to put different elements within a frame.. Surely the Grand Central Station and midtown Manhattan buildings were great settings but Zim's livelyhood and in depth knowledge made the tour awesome.. Thanks Zim, hope to schedule a new safari next time I am in New York..
I was expecting a simple composition tour. What I got was far, far better!! It ended up being a private lesson, and was worth every minute. I got a detailed education on how to take advantage of the many features of my camera. That was worth it alone. Then we took pictures, and where I had difficulty envisioning the image, I was taught how to seek it. Through composition and exposure, I started taking much better images. This was so worth the time. I suspect I will be back.
We had an excellent photographer named Zim. She provided us with a knowledge of her craft with fresh ways to look at our surroundings. The rules of thumb were excellent and she was an expert at seeing and how to frame what you see in a photograph. I particularly liked the rules for shooting buildings and parts of the structure.
Zim is an amazing teacher and will guide you through every photo, angle and camera setting that you might need. Don't be afraid of using AUTO mode with her! Your eye is more important than any idea of ideal setting you might have. I am looking forward to working with her more.
You get valuable tips for taking pictures, are given competent and friendly (and very patient) advice. We got great photos of NYC. Thank you Zim!
Zim engaged us with energy and expertise. Even though I couldn't understand much of what he explained to us why my English wasn't adequate enough, I took some interesting shots home.
