We had an absolutely wonderful time. Dom was excellent at explaining all the places we got to visit. If you want to know anything about the history of Brooklyn, this would be the tour for you. The places he took us were wonderful and we loved buying a little souvenir at several of them.

Dom was a great guide and took us to several cool maker spots around DUMBO. We saw a variety of crafts people and enjoyed some tasty treats along the way, too. Lots of fun, and a great way to spend the afternoon.
A very fun and informative afternoon of history and what’s new in DUMBO! Great guide and learned a lot from him!
What a wonderful tour we had with Dom! So knowledgeable of the Brooklyn history- and he speaks from his heart- which makes this tour so memorable and Fun!! Incorporating some local businesses he has relationships with made us feel like locals! Dom we'll see you in the Spring for Coney Island!
Dom is an excellent guide and really was tuned into what we liked and pivoted in discussion with the businesses to get the best out of each place visited. It rained and he totally worked on moving things around for us. So knowledgeable! I would do his other tours!
We had the pleasure of taking the Made in Brooklyn tour with Dom, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Dom was extremely informative, sharing fascinating details about the historic buildings in the heart of DUMBO and memorable stories about the construction of the Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Williamsburg bridges. But the tour was so much more than history — Dom introduced us to artisanal shops, unique local experiences, and even arranged for us to meet a local artist in his workspace, which was an unforgettable glimpse into Brooklyn’s creative community. His knowledge, passion, and ability to bring the neighborhood’s past and present to life made this tour both educational and truly special. Highly recommended!
Absolutely fantastic tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, very sweet, and made the whole experience so enjoyable. It was fun, informative, and overall one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting!
We had a fantastic experience touring the DUMBO area and Brooklyn Bridge with our guide, Dom Gervasi. His deep knowledge truly brought the neighborhood's history to life. He shared fascinating stories about the old headquarters of Brillo Pads, Domino Sugar, Uneeda Biscuits and Yuban Coffee, connecting the past to the modern thriving Dumbo district. We especially appreciated his insights on the Italian immigrants and their two waves of arrival in Brooklyn, giving us a deeper appreciation for the area's diverse heritage. Dom introduced us to unique artisan shops and artists that we never would have found on our own, making the experience both cultural and personal.
We had an opportunity to meet business owners & artists who shared information and their work. So fun and informative without feeling pressured to buy anything. Truly a magnificent day, learning about the area and its historical importance to Brooklyn. Dom was an amazing guide!
I just did a Coney Island tour with Dom and it was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a thorough historical tour of the beginnings of Coney island and more. I would highly recommend this tour.
This is an amazing tour! Dom was born and lives in Brooklyn and he does an awesome job showing off his wonderful borough. The tour covered history, art, Brooklyn's manufacturing heritage and the best hot chocolate in the world. We had an awesome time - enjoyed the tour, getting to know the area and spending the day with Dom. Highly recommend
Dom’s tour was absolutely amazing! We fell in love with Brooklyn and its people. Dom’s passion and true love for his city shines through. We visited some very interesting businesses and I even got to try my hand at Zen weaving! Thank You so much Dom for an unforgettable experience, I cannot wait to return to embark on your other tours.
Dom was the penultimate guide. Super knowledgeable and able to answer any question, and took some great photos of us. You can tell he is passionate about his hometown and his pride shines through his tour. I highly recommend his tour, and we will definitely do one of the other ones next time we’re in town.
Informative, friendly & interesting tour with a nice freebie at the end. Well worth doing - away from the maddening crowds.
Wow what a walking tour this turned out to be! Dom knew everything you could ever want to know about the area, pointing out historical artefacts that would otherwise go unnoticed. He was amusing, attentive, inspiring and fun. We were so very lucky to have him to ourself as no one else had booked in- and our tour lasted longer- he didn’t rush us at all. Met some very interesting characters too. Such an unusual trip, a perfect combination of history and real life in Brooklyn. Thanks Dom!
Dom was a great guide infused with enthusiam, which really helped us to enjoy the tour even more so. The stops included on the tour were very interesting and unique, and we had a wonderful time meeting the local artisans and getting to know the local business community. Dom even arranged a last minute addition where we met a local mural artist whose brilliant works were displayed all over DUMBO and elsewhere. This is a tour that is unlike your usual walking tour, and we went away feeling that we really got to see a slice of Brooklyn. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants something different and an amazing guide to show you Brooklyn.
If there’s a way to see the artsy side of Brooklyn, it’s to take a walking tour with our guide Dom. He walked us through the Dumbo area, acquainting us with artisans, painters, weavers, who we would never have interacted with , up close and personal, otherwise; learning about their craft. Dom gave us an informative lowdown on the industrial past of Brooklyn and took us to the points that offered the most beautiful sightings of the Brooklyn bridge and the NYC skyline. Cherry on the cake we’re the creamy icecream and warm chocolate drink, on the house:)

It was a great personalized tour. I was the only person. Dom know so much about Brooklyn, its history, have a great relationship with small bussiness which we visited. I learned a lot of facts about products that began manufacturing in Brooklyn. In the end we went to a great place for ice cream and i got a present that i will display in my office!! Thank you Dom!
We explored the history and current events of Brooklyn's DUMBO and Dom was a great tour guide, very personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommend if you are interested in learning about the city as a local or visitor alike. We visited several businesses (e.g. Saori - Japanese Weaving and CAM's art studio) and Dom has many acquaintances in the area, with free chocolate and ice cream sampling. While visitations depend on who is available, I though the tour was great value and enjoyable!
My parents and I shared a wonderful afternoon with Dom learning about the wide variety of items made in Brooklyn, some dating back to the 19th Century and one shop which opened only 2 days ago! His passion really shines and it was a real treat to meet the artisans and even have some hands-on experience. We will be back the area later this year and look forward to visiting another area of Brooklyn with Dom. Highly recommend!
Dom is a great storyteller. His passion for Brooklyn is contagious. He has lots of connections with local artists and artisans, which makes this trip very special. Moreover he added many personal touches and several little surprises on the way. He has extensive knowledge of the industrial past of Brooklyn, and makes great connections with visual clues in the landscape. The tour was attended by worldwide visitors, and also by locals who wanted to learn more about the place, and they did. I had a fantastic time.
Dom was a fount of wisdom and we learned so much from him. Great way to spend an afternoon and very fun Mother's Day adventure.
It was a humanly and culturally enriching experience and our guide was open, easy-going and very efficient.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and was a great guide. I would recommend if you are going to Brooklyn to take this tour.
The Made in Brooklyn walking tour was excellent. Dom is very knowledgeable. He not only shared interesting historical facts (supplemented by photos) but also provided a unique opportunity to see the work of and meet artists, creators and small business owners making it in Brooklyn. You'll see the best that DUMBO has to offer and Dom is the right guy to lead the way.
Dom took my wife and I on a great personalised tour of the Dumbo District in Brooklyn last week. He not only provided us with insight into the history of Dumbo, from its early warehousing to its Arbuckles coffee-making roots to Brooklyn being the home of Brillo pads, international pharmaceuticals firms, et al. He also took the time to introduce us to a number of the artisans in the area with whom he clearly has long-standing friendships, including local artist Craig Anthony Miller, Yukako Satone's Loop of the Loom studio, and last and definitely not least, Mark Thompson's Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory! The time flew by, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Dom. He loves sharing his passion and knowledge of his backyard with visitors like us. I cannot recommend Dom's tour highly enough; thanks, Dom, we had a blast.
My wife and I had a absolutely blast spend few hours with Dom exploring and learning a lot about Brooklyn! Thank you Dom!
We loved our Made in Brooklyn Tour! As locals, it was great getting to dive deeper into the history of our own neighborhood. Dom was such a great guide, he was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about the neighborhood, and New York City, history. He personalized the tour and made it worth coming out on a rainy day!
Great way to get to know Dumbo and learn about both its history and some of the interesting artisans there now. Dom was an excellent tour guide who is passionate about Brooklyn, knowledgable about the local history and willing to personalize the tour. Worthwhile for local residents and tourists from out of town.
Great walking tour or the DUMBO neighborhood in Brooklyn. We learned a lot of history about the area, why it has that name, interesting stories about products and industries from the area. We also got to visit some local artisans, see great views, and taste some local products which were amazing.
Our tour was led by Dom, who is the creator and guide for this experience. He is a lifelong New Yorker and, more specifically, Brooklynite, who has a deep knowledge of the city and how it evolved, which he demonstrated amply as we made our way around DUMBO. His ability to convey the time and place in terms of history alongside contemporary happenings in this corner of Brooklyn helped generate a similar sensation to us. Along with the samplings included, this was a well rounded experience. I would recommend his tour to pretty much everyone but, honestly - this is a shout-out to those who live in NYC. Take this tour - you have the benefit of one of your "neighbors" telling you about the city and it gives you a deeper appreciation for the vast history your city has already created in a few very short centuries. Consider it a one-day vacation at home and a way to reconnect with where you live. And you can finish it off at Juliana's Pizza... one of Dom's recommendations.
Dom was wonderful!! It was such a personal, well thought out tour. We not only saw many great places, but Dom introduced us to many artist and business owners in the community. Highly recommended this tour for anyone! Price is a steal for the service he provides. :)
Our tour guide, Dom, was friendly and welcoming right from the start. His love of Brooklyn based on his personal experiences was evident. We enjoyed the hands-on experience weaving and the take-away that came with it. I would highly recommend this tour to both visitors and native New Yorkers!
Very informative and entertaining visit of BROOKLYN from the "Made Locally" angle. Dom Gervasi told us the great history of Brooklyn, with some amazing anecdotes. Great! "MADE IN BROOKLYN TOUR" dom@madeinbrooklyntours.com
My group attended the DUMBO neighborhood tour and it was very entertaining and enlightening. As someone who was born and raised in Brooklyn, there was so much information that I was not even aware of. Dom was great at providing information in a way that was relatable to everyone on the tour and he did a great job of including everyone. Meeting shop owners was a highlight!
Dom is truly a great host and a great event. Really unique way to get to understand a neighborhood that many only know the surface of.
Such a great tour of the area. Dom is so knowledgeable and friendly. He takes great pride in Brooklyn and his enthusiasm for the area makes for a fascinating tour. We highly recommend booking any tour specifically with Dom.
Dom curated a perfect walking tour of Red Hook for a private corporate event. We were 7 people and the tour was well planned start to finish. We stopped at some local businesses, and Dom is a wealth of knowledge of all things Brooklyn - there wasn't a question he couldn't answer including "Who is the park named after and why?". Our group was particularly interested in housing and real-estate history (we told him in advance) and he made sure to incorporate this theme into the tour as well. Highly recommend you take a walking tour with Dom - it seems like he can curate something special for any Brooklyn neighborhood!
Fantastic tour of DUMBO! We not only learned a lot about DUMBO, its history, and Brooklyn in general from Dom--a witty, informed, and great guide--we got to visit local establishments and meet the creative people who make DUMBO thrive. On top of meeting DUMBO artists of all types, we were treated to delicious hot chocolate, rode the carousel and finished the day eating delicious pizza. This is a tour for all who wish to discover Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods. Whether you're a tourist visiting New York City or a city resident, put on your walking shoes and join Dom for the best day ever!
My daughter and I toured Dumbo with Dom on Saturday,April 30. As a native, lifelong Brooklynite I thought I knew a lot about my borough - boy was I wrong! Armed with flip charts -Dom presented so much fascinating historical information - very thoroughly researched- and gave us insight into present day Dumbo as well. The highlight of the tour was four stops where we met and spoke with some unique and diverse artists and artisans who contribute to the vitality that is Dumbo. Enjoyed meeting them and learning about each craft. In addition Dom made recommendations of stops to make and places to eat should we come back to visit Dumbo on our own. Dom’s an engaging, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable guide- my daughter and I eagerly look forward to visiting other Brooklyn neighborhoods with him. Sneakers ready- we’re all set to go!!!
This small group tour is the best way to get to know the DUMBO neighborhood. It’s great when a guide actually does his research, and actually likes people! We will give Dom a call next time we are in town and want to see some other neighborhoods. Highly recommended!
Although we've been to NY a few times (from UK), we've never been to Brooklyn, so this tour was an absolute treat to discover! Despite the snow, Dom put together the most wonderful programme and introduced us to some lovely local business people. Can't thank him enough for his enthusiasm and passion - if you are looking for history and adventure, book yourself on one of Dom's tours. You won't be disappointed.
Dom led an oustanding walking tour of DUMBO. His deep experience, great connections with artisans in Brooklyn, and his natural friendliness and enthusiasm made for a wonderful afternoon - and was one of the best parts of our 5-day stay in NYC. The tour was well-planned and interesting - a good way to deepen our understanding of NYC and all it offers. We intend to do a walking tour of another Brooklyn neighborhood with Dom the next time we are back. Thank you, Dom!
We had such a fun time visiting Dumbo on this tour! From visiting small businesses to meeting local artists, there was never a dull moment. The true highlight was seeing the network Dom has built over the years with Dumbo locals, and how special each one made us feel. Dom’s passion for storytelling also made the history of the neighborhood that much more fascinating! We can’t wait to join another one.
This is our 4th tour with Dom the owner and guide of Made in Brooklyn Tours, and it was like meeting up with an old friend again, a friend who knows the Brooklyn neighborhoods inside and out. For this one, we went on the Industry City tour and visited four very different businesses and got a great taste, both literally and figuratively, of the history and diversity of activity in the area. They included a chocolate company, whiskey maker, stained glass restorer and soap maker. What most impresses us about these tours is the deep pride and love that Dom has for Brooklyn and for those who are being creative, working hard and sacrificing to succeed in making it there. Always highly recommended!
We did the tour with Dom who showed us Red Hook in Brooklyn. It was very nice and interesting and so different from the rest of New York. We really appreciated the 3 or 4 hours discovering this amazing part of the town. The explanations of Dom were great and we enjoyed the tour. We highly recommend this tour. We will come back to discover another part of Brooklyn :-) Sandrine
Native Brooklynite Dom gives a very insightful tour of hidden gems in Brooklyn. A splendid afternoon!
