We had just crossed the Canada US border at Niagara Falls and made a wrong turn. We saw a sign for Jamestown and knew that it was Lucy's hometown. Our wrong turn took us through beautiful countryside, saw some local Amish folks in their buggies, and got to know upstate New York with its many vineyards and several charming towns along the way. We got to Jamestown and easily found the Lucy/Desi Museum. It had some of Lucille's costumes and personal clothing, a re-creation of the I Love Lucy set as well as the Vitameatavegimin set, awards and personal photos and other items. There are 2 gift shops, so don't miss either one. We enjoyed our brief stopover in Jamestown and loved the museum.

A look back in time when TV was fun and family oriented. Very cool to see, especially when you watched as a kid. There was a lot to Lucy than I ever knew. Worth the trip.
The museum was very thorough and had a lot of fun videos and information about Lucy and Desi. Later we went to her gravesite which is also in Jamestown.
This attraction is easy to find in downtown Jamestown. Street parking and friendly staff person who gave us tips and advice. We bought the combination ticket that includes the National Comedy Center. Love look at props and the recreated set scenes. It was all positive with a few TVs showing I Love Lucy skits and personal family times when Lucy and Desi were a happy couple. I was able to recreate the "Vitameatavegamin" skit which is my favorite!!
It was very informative, I watched I Love Lucy and other shows with her in the cast but didn't know about her movies.
From the time we walked in until we left 2 hours later we were so excited.
We are HUGE I Love Lucy fans and we absolutely loved the museum. We learned so much about Lucy & Desi and the show. Highly recommend all Lucy fans experience this!
The museum was awesome, and the staff was very helpful. We have a family member who uses hearing aids, and she struggled to hear the iPod tour using the headset. There was no way to connect the iPod to her hearing aids, which was an bummer. Our cashier, Liz, was able to accommodate us as best as she could. She was very helpful and insightful. We were surprised to hear she hasn’t been working there that long and that she is not from the area as she was very knowledgeable on Lucy and Jamestown. I recommend talking to her and other staff when you get to the museum to get the full scoop on all things Lucille Ball. And Lucille Ball, if you are reading this from heaven, give her a raise!
it was enjoyable... but really the National Comedy Museum is the best. Could have spent all day there if we stopped and took every exhibit in. We did the combo ticket so together it was definitely worth the price and time,
Two weeks after our visit, I am now reading tripadvisor reviews to see why this place got so many good reviews. While in the museum, we saw video interviews made by those who knew Lucy growing up. We saw photos of her and Desi as children and learned about Desi's life as a child. We were disappointed that we didn't see a replica of the set or lots of short video clips from the "I Love Lucy Show." Now, reading these reviews, I see that there is another entrance a few doors down from the main entrance! No one at the museum told us about this other section of the museum. No one greeted us when we arrived, maybe because they saw we had the bracelet showing we had also been to the Comedy Museum. Maybe if we had paid at this museum they would have told us about the other half! There should be signs posted telling visitors that this building is only part of the museum. I hope this review helps others so that they do not miss half the museum as we did.
The experience was great. We purchased the photo package for an $10 onsite and had photos in the TV apartment set. One building had Lucy's and Ricky's family history and two buildings down are the TV sets.
FANTASTIC! This museum has so much information and the artifacts are wonderful. The people that work here are very nice.
The staff was great, so informative and welcoming. A really great museum filled with the history of both Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz from their childhood and on. We are so glad we made the trip! We bought the combo ticket that included the National Comedy Center. It's an immersive interactive experience and worth the visit. We smiled and laughed all day!
If you are a fan of Lucy, this is the place to go.It's a museum all about her life and career. There are fun photo ops in her tv set kitchen, an interesting film, and a gift shop. This is in addition to all the items on display.
We absolutely loved the museum!!! Every employee we encountered was really great and helpful! The lady who took our photos was so charming and personable. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend. (Kat was extremely nice and helpful)
Great experience if you are a Lucy fan! Spend the $10 on the apartment photo op. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area!
This museum is well set out and organized. We enjoyed it very much. The facility was clean and nothing was closed down or missing. If you read everything you do not need to spend money on the narrative phone to carry. The only suggestion I have to make this experience better would be to update the phone. Buttons constantly stuck and it became frustrating so we all quit listening to it. Other than that I highly recommend this museum!
This was a wonderful place to visit. Everything was so well laid out and very informative. There were two section, professional lives and personal lives. Definitely worth your time.
The museum was great. The people that worked there were just very polite. Would recommend anyone that is a lucy? And desi fan to definitely put this on your bucket list and go.I did a mother and daughter trip.My mother is eighty three years old and never had been there.
I didn't know much about the history or significance of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz before I visited this museum, so I learned a lot from the experience. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!
I got much more out of it than I expected. Gave a lot of information about Lucy and Desi. Lots of movie sets and costumes, Loved it. Kind of strange that it was in two different entrances.
The museum was good. I really liked it. I just wish they would have had more things in gift shop to pick from. Like funny pictures on shirts and sweatshirts. That is what made her famous was her funny attitude
The museum was amazing!. Love all of the interactive activities. We love the gift shop and bought a few things for me. The staff was very kind and attentive.
My wife and friend are big I Love Lucy fans (I enjoyed The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy). There were lots of memorabilia here including awards, costumes and even the set. The guy in the gift shop obviously wasn't old enough to remember Lucy but was very knowledgeable about the actress. Definitely worth a stop for Lucy fans.
A great visit.. I loved seeing all the stuff from when I watched it on TV when I was growing up. Well worth the trip. I can’t wait until they have the new exhibit open.
We really enjoyed this museum! It was well done and easy to transition through the time lines. To realize how truly driven she was, what they stood for, and how they sought to bring about change in society, on top of their busy lives was just amazing. She was truly amazing!!! As for fun, well that was the reason we went in the first place, but it was so much more. This was well worth the ticket and our time. I advise you not to miss it, if you are in the area.
Part of a tour with a group I escorted to this area. Loved this Museum which has and east and west gallery covering Lucy and Desi's life as well as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo's adventures. Lots of clips to watch and gift shops for both galleries.
There is so much information and pictures and Clothing and Awards to see. It’s so amazing going through this museum.
Give yourself plenty of time to tour. There is so much information to take in. Letters, costumes, sets from the show...so much to see!
If you are a fan of "I Love Lucy", this a fun museum. It is interesting to see her career/life before TV. I spent about 1 1/2 hours.
What a fun place! Brought back a lot of memories, for sure. Interesting information about the background of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. They were really a powerful couple and were able to accomplish a lot more than just comedy.
So much to see in this museum! Laid out beautifully. A wonderful museum of the lives and careers of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. I would go again! Amazing experience!
The Lucy and Desi museum the right in the middle of Jamestown, city center. It’s right down the block from The National Comedy Center. If you visit on the weekend, parking is free on the street. You can also park free at The National Comedy Center’s parking lot, which is a couple blocks away. If you visit during the week, there are parking meters. The museum itself is split between two buildings, but they’re right next to each other on the same block. The first building is about Lucy’s TV show and her claim to fame, and the second building houses information about her life. Both buildings have gift shops. The museum also has a recreation of her TV show set, with the living room, kitchen, and the California set as well for those episodes. There’s a lot of memorabilia, props, costumes that she wore, and also her Mercedes. You could easily spend two hours or more at this museum. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time or allotted enough time because a staff member at The National Comedy Center told us that it would only take us an hour to go through. But that was so far from the truth! We actually spent two hours, but actually needed more time than that. We would totally go back to this museum since we felt like we missed some things. And it is so fascinating to learn that Lucy had some ground breaking ideas that came to fruition on her TV show. She was the first one to incorporate her own pregnancy into a TV show, and that was something during the 1950s. There was also other technology groundbreaking ideas that she and her staff implemented that is now used today in television.
It was a fun time though I wish I knew about the combo tickets with the Lucy/Desi museum and the National Comedy Center.
If you enjoyed watching the shows, this is a lovely way to learn more about its stars and the production. Seeing various costumes and sets live and in color was so much fun! Realizing the impact Lucy & Desi had on Hollywood (3-camera filming and the concept of residuals for running of shows years later) was unexpected. The lists of shows that were filmed on their lot or that they had a hand in producing was impressive. Leaving the museum, you have the opportunity to walk a few blocks and see murals of Lucy & Desi.
This activity was lots of fun. It was interesting to see the sets from I Love Lucy and the other items. I recommend going if you are in the area.
Museum is so much smaller than I expected. I almost made the terrible mistake of making a separate 1.5 hour trip to Jamestown to see this museum on a different day than the National Comedy Center. Would have been a mistake, since it didn't take long to see almost everything in the Lucy Desi Museum. So glad I visited both museums on the same day. We did not add on any of the "extras." Those, of course, would have added to the amount of time spent in the museum.
Great museum! Fun fact, Lucille Ball gave the green light to Star Trek! She was a true pioneer of early television! Very informative and now I’m a Lucille Ball fan!
I loved Lucy so my review may be skewed, but only slightly :>). There are two areas - the Lucy and Desi. I started in the Lucy area which has a lot of reasonably priced memorabilia. I was surprised that they didn't have things to buy for one's grandchildren. I did get a few things for my wife. You can negotiate the price if you want the tour guide to take your pictures using your own camera. I did that, and the guide took pictures of my group and I in the different Lucy sets (recreated). The guide, who was dressed in a Lucy dress, was very knowledgeable. Looking at the sets brought back a lot of memories. Next was the Desi area in an adjacent building. There too are things to buy, I learned that Desilu Studios also produced Star Tek, Mission Impossible, etc. One can easily spend a couple of hours at the Lucy Desi Museum.
Very well done presentation of Lucy and Desi's life and careers. We watched every video bringing back memories of when we were kids.
If you are a fan of Lucy et al this is for you! It was one of the best things I’ve ever done! I brought so many memories and souvenirs home I’m in heaven.
If you love Lucy, you'll love this museum! Filled with priceless items and information from our favorite red head comedian. It's divided into two parts, one 'I Love Lucy' and the other simple Lucille Ball's life and career.
The museum and staff were great. Comedy club was very interactive. The Pub restaurant is a great place for good, affordable food. Make sure you make the mile drive to Lucille Ball Memorial Park to see the statues.
I joined a relative on a trip up to Jamestown where they had some business matters to attend to. While we were there, we decided to visit some fun attractions in the area. As my relative had already visited the National Comedy museum in a previous visit, we decided to go to the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum - and I am so glad we did. The facility is small but packed full of memorabilia from the heyday of I Love Lucy. As a fan since childhood, I truly enjoyed browsing through both the family life history as well as Lucy & Desi's professional history. We spent ~ 2 hours browsing through both exhibits and both agreed it was a very worthwhile visit.
If you are an I love Lucy fan this is the place to visit. It was an awesome experience and can't wait to go back. Got our picture on the New York apartment set. Staff were amazing.
I totally enjoyed the experience to learn more about her life. She was a leader and many female’s followed her footsteps.
My husband and I went to this museum. Honestly most museums for me are just ho hum, but the Lucy Desi museum was not. I enjoyed myself so much!! If you are a fan of either Lucy or Desi you must go! Unfortunately, all the gifts in the gift store are super expensive. That was the only downside. You also get a map of the house where Lucy was born, the house where she grew up with her grandpa and where she is buried. We went to all. Again, don’t miss this opportunity.
This was a very worthwhile trip for us. We love Lucille Ball and this gave you an even more insight into who she was and her impact on so many people. It was so interesting to view all the memorabilia and the sets. If you're a fan, then you should definitely check it out.
Really nice, lots to c n do,loved the mini theaters in the museum. We wanna go back n do more stuff, wish it hadn't rained tho,we would of done more
Great job in including all the important history of the Lucy/Desi partnership and show. It wasn’t overwhelming but just right. So cool that they have the full sets from the NY and Los Angeles apartments. Very much worth a trip to see this terrific museum!
