Amanda was a terrific tour guide. She was personable, made an effort to individually connect with each guest, and shared a wealth of knowledge on history, cuisine, geography, culture, and current events with us. Her content was interesting and pertinent to the streets we walked. I feel like I walked away with so many fun facts to share with my friends and family. I will definitely book another tour with Nice Guys.

What is there to say about this spot which When Harry Met Sally... made even more famous. “I’ll have what she’s having?” You better believe it. The pastrami here is the best on the planet.
Sample delicious Rugelach
Named for the actual orchard that stood here before the tenements did. Pushcart market, then garment district, then bargain strip, and Time Out New York recently called it one of the coolest streets in the world.
Economy Candy has been around since 1937, dishing out chocolates, nuts, gummies and the candy so many generations have grown up on.
Ninety-seven Orchard housed roughly seven thousand people from more than twenty countries before the landlord sealed the upper floors in 1935 and walked away. It's a museum now because of what was still sitting up there when someone finally opened them.
Vanessa's Dumpling House has the most delicious pork dumplings. Happy to substitute to veggie for those who don’t eat pork. You won’t believe how good these are.
The only Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. The congregation came from Ioannina in Greece, carrying a tradition that runs separate from both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Judaism and goes back nearly two thousand years in the eastern Mediterranean. Built in 1927, still holding services.
When it opened in 1903 it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. It also emptied this neighborhood out, carrying a generation of Lower East Side families across the river and into Brooklyn.
Stop and shop (if you wish) at Essex Street market but before you do we visit my friend Saad who gives us a tasting of Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oils at his Essex Olive & Spice shop.
The Pickle Guys pickles almost everything. We try three of their top sellers. They’re sweet. They’re sour. They’re awesome.
Kossar's Bagels - you bet your babka you’ve never tasted bagels or bialys like this before. And the cream cheese? It’s the best I’ve ever had. Ever.
Stroll. Learn. Nosh. Now you can explore an up-and-coming hip neighborhood that's rich in history and stacked with infamously famous eats. The Doughnut Plant Russ & Daughters
World famous and award winning Bobbly Flay defeating cake doughnuts - YUM!

Alexandra was our tour guide, and she was amazing! She had so much historical perspective to share and that really enhanced the tour. Come hungry, as the portions at the six stops will fill you up, and wear comfortable walking shoes. The water provided at the beginning stop was a bonus. The pace of the tour, number of stops, and time at each stop was perfect, and the variety of food offerings was excellent. This was my second time on this same tour (different guide last time), and I learned something each time - it's not a "canned" tour, so that was appreciated!
Well done tour and “nosh” fest - David, the tour guide was fantastic
We had an excellent food tour of the Lower East Side with David. We learned so much about the area of NYC and tasted some classic dishes. Thank you, David!
Excellent tour. I've done many food tours in cities around the world and this is now a clear favorite -- mainly because of tour guide Amanda!! Her knowledge of all things New York coupled with her excellent selection of stops made for a perfect tour. Arrive hungry. Delicious food and fun experiences abound.
Very fun tour of the Lower East Side. Highly recommend for a 3 hour activity. Guide was great. Not strenuous
Ian was so fantastic! You could tell he loved the history and was so fun to talk to during the walks in between stops! We had one moment not be able to come and he made sure we got their portion of food at every stop! The food was delicious! Highly recommend!
This is a good walking tour that allows you to experience the lower east side and enjoy some bites to eat. We started at the world famous Katz’s for some pastrami. Then on to Russ and daughters - some Chinese - bagels - pickles and donuts . Although the guide was late, the tour organizer thoughtfully offered to refund our $. I would recommend this tour to see the evolution of the lower west side, its Jewish roots and delicious food.

Took the New York City Lower East Side Walking and Food Tour today, with my sister. We had a fantastic guide, Ian. He did an amazing job of giving us a thorough overview of the Lower East Side, as well as being very informative about the many food establishments that we visited. My wife and I enjoyed very much the Lower East Side Food and Walking Tour. Amanda Levy, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful. She was attentive and helpful even with small details like packaging extra food--there was a lot of it--for us to take with us after the tour. The stops were enjoyable with tasty food and plenty of it. It's a nice mix of great food, Lower East Side history and what's happening in the neighborhood now. I am glad I booked it.
