Awesome tour with Joel. He had great side note stories to all the places we visited or walked by. Some were closed, good backups were offered. Lovely stroll around the area and learning the history behind it. Definitely get a Knish and Essex market has the REBEL vegan cheese from shark tank.
Lovely tour with a good amount of history of the Lower East Side. Brianna was enthusiastic and engaged and gave a good amount of information while leaving time for us to enjoy a variety of foods!
We had a very nice time walking the Lower East Side with Cora, who showed us great food shops and features we would not have noticed on our own. It was a great way to get a feel for this diverse neighborhood.
Very interesting tour by a wonderful guide who made our experience an enjoyable and interesting one. Be hungry as there are lots of delicious food options along the way!
Fabulous tour! Michael was terrific!! Great choices of food and interesting history ! The kids loved the tour!
Love the history you learn in the way while getting to try traditional recipes of random foods. Keep up the great work Liz.
The tour did not include any food although it was a food tour. Nor were we able to go into any buildings. She showed us photos of the places. The guide was lovely but the tour itself wasn’t very interesting.
Liz did a great job showing us around the neighborhood and introducing us to delicious food and restaurants to visit later.
Conner was an incredible guide. He was energetic and funny throughout the tour. The food choices were great, the history shared was excellent and his spirit of carrying the group together was amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour. Bring your appetite and sweet tooth because you will be stuffed 😁
Michael knows neighbourhood very well, and great choices of food. Enjoy the history of East European Jewish immigration culture and the changes of the area.
I highly recommend the Lower East Side food and neighborhood tour. Our guide, Connor, was fantastic—incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area's rich history. They kept us engaged with fascinating stories as we explored a part of NYC we’d never seen before. It’s an easy walk, too! This tour is unique because it doesn't include the cost of food in the ticket price. This was a big plus for us, as it gave us the freedom to pick and choose the tastings that appealed to us most. Just be sure to bring cash, as one spot we visited was cash-only. Connor did a great job of curating a diverse selection of stops, from savory classics to delicious sweets. Our favorites: banana pudding at Sugar Sweet Sunshine and The Pickle Guys. We finished our afternoon with lunch at Katz’s Deli (also cash only) this is a MUST if you like pastrami. If you're looking for a great way to discover the Lower East Side, learn about its history, and try some amazing food, this is the tour for you. Ask for Connor—you won't be disappointed!
an incredible place with epicly delicious pickles 🥒 and super friendly staff. highly recommended! ❤️ and a must when you're visiting the lower east side in new york city 🗽
Great tour to learn more about the history of the neighborhood and sample some treats! Joel was a great tour guide and passionate about the neighborhood. I enjoyed the Pickle Guy, the bialy place, and Essex Market. Would love for this tour to cover more of the Jewish food places that seem to be a defining part of the neighborhood (though we did go on a holiday, so maybe some of them were closed).
Liz was our very friendly and informative guide. She took us to some of the local eateries and showed us some of the old architecture with some very interesting facts of days gone by. Would definitely recommend this tour
Small group of 8 of us were on the tour which was a perfect amount for everyone to be able to hear the interesting facts and history from Conner. Each stop was a nice distance apart. Do not eat before this tour, there were so many options! But you are also not obliged to purchase at each stop. Highly recommend!
Conner was great! They were really knowledgeable and took us to lots of tasty food places in the area, with lots of history and local knowledge shared. We didn't feel rushed at all, but at the same time, there was a good pace and no dead time. Would recommend. I do prefer to have food pre paid for, but paying for it individually does allow one to only buy things that one really wants.
Our guide Cameron was very nice and informative about the area. We learned a fair amount about the history of the area as well as the history of several great food spots. My family and I liked that we had the opportunity to pick our own food on the tour as we could pick and choose what we wanted and were given plenty of time to do so. My only recommendation would be to try to pre-arrange a table at Katz's and include the opportunity to get food there, since it was included in the list we assumed we would get to eat there and were disappointed that we just stopped by outside because of the line. We ended nearby and could have gone back but felt done by that point. Another option would be to have that as the last stop and give the tour members the opportunity to wait to go in if they wanted. Overall a fun experience though.
Cameron was very knowledgeable about the history of the Lower East Side. The food stops were delicious and they all had a good history to them! My belly was full the entire time!
Cameron was a knowledgeable tour guide and took us to interesting eateries. My only complaint is that the description of the tour did not state that no tastings were included and all food needed to be purchased. It was fine and actually about the same cost of an $80 tour that included tastings at 5-6 places. Just a good idea for this to be stated in the tour description.
The Lower East Side food and neighbourhood walking tour was very informative. Our guide Conner certainly knew the history of the area. What a wealth of information he has, and all the best places to sample some delicious food along the way. Conner made the tour fun and interesting, definitely a must do tour!
The tour was ok. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. However, the tour company representative was inflexible, rude and difficult to deal with.
We had a great time with our guide Gabi! She showed us the sites in the Lower East Side and took us places where we could eat bagels and bialys after starting us off with some excellent beef jerky. The highlight of the tour were the pickles though. Never seen so many pickled fruit and vegetables and they were all good! The sites were beautiful and the stories were great to listen to as Gabi told them with such enthusiasm. If you are into food, sites and stories, this is a must do.
We were a group of mine women and Liz was a fabulous guide, so informative and warm. We walked our feet off but had a great time doing it.
Our tour guide Connor was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly and helpful with lots of advice about things to do in the area. Thanks Connor, for a great experience 😊
I went on this tour with my daughter, sister and niece and we all really enjoyed this trip! Conner was very knowledgeable about the history of NY, really funny and very personable. He took us to some really great places to eat and made sure we got everywhere safely. He even went the extra mile after the tour to make sure that we knew exactly where to go to get back to our hotel. I highly recommend this tour and if you get the chance to request someone specific - then choose Conner and you will be guaranteed to have an awesome time!! Thank Conner for making our tour memorable!
Conner was very helpful and the food tour was amazing with so many different options. Some great recommendations as well!
The tour was great, and our whole family enjoyed it tremendously! Claire was fabulous—super friendly, polite and informative—and took us to many special places we would have never found on our own. Highly recommend!!
We enjoyed the tour, led by Conner, but not quite as much as others we’ve done. A little bit less about Conner and more about the area would have made it better.
Conner was great and really fast in talking ... It was fun. The places Conner led us to were very special and we learned a lot about the history of the different neighborhoods. . Greets
Pickles were closed Great tour Maybe add more unique options Knish Or samples Great tour guide Knowledgeable
We had the pleasure of having Conner all to ourselves. We were a group of four and spent the most delightful afternoon with Connor. Our stops a unique Jerky shop a quirky bodega, some of the oldest temples in the US, the pickle guy, bialys and bagels, economy candy, Katz's deli and much more. Even better than the food was Conner's wonderful historical knowledge of the Lower East Side and quick wit and kindness. Conner looked out for our welfare and made us laugh. What more could you ask for in a tour guide. I highly recommend this tour. Maybe you will get lucky enough to have Conner as your tour guide.
Gabi was a great tour guide! She really enjoyed her job and shared anything you asked her about. She was respectful and fun. Was very insightful and educational as well. Just the right amount of time.
Lots of fun - the right length of tour with some delicious stops along the way. Gabbi was a food lover with lots of good insight- and the pickles were a real highlight.
Enthausatic and friendly guide! Knows a lot of the area and helped us to find the best spots for food! We enjoyed her company and her story’s..
Had a great tour with Liz. She showed us places we normally would have passed by. Tried some nice food which was also affordable.
We met our tour guide Liz who is very knowledgeable and such a lovely person. We had lots of stops along the way and there was so much variety, my personal favourite was the food market but we had lots of delicious food along the way. My daughter enjoyed the sweet shop! Liz took us to lots of local businesses who have been around for many years and we learnt so much history. This tour was definitely a highlight for our trip. Liz you are so kind and helpful. Thank you so much, Vanessa and Megan from Wales 🏴
Amazing tour, Gabi our guide was brilliant. Fantastic food-stops with good recommendations on what-to buy. Great information about the neighborhood and it's people
Gabbie did a great job within our small Group of 4 today. Lots of fun, learnings and very good tasting food. Definetly recommending this.
Percy was friendly, funny, personable and very informative. It was only our group and we did have a great time.
Gabby was wonderful. She had a lot of knowledge about the area and the food stops were all different. Thank you so much.
At first we were a bit reluctant to take the tour, as it seemed to only cover East Side, and not "everything" like some other NYC food tours claimed they did. However we're very glad that we went in the end! Liz was very nice and she explained a lot about history of different neighborhoods and places. We went to many different stops and they were all special, including Malasia jerky, soda shop, Pickle Guys, Essex street market, Kosshers bagels & bialys and some special bakeries and of course Kat'z deli. All in all a very thorough experience and we'd recommend it to anyone.
We had a great time, thank you. The tour was informative and interesting. We all live in NY for a long time, but have never seen a lot of places we were shown. The guide had a way to make the history alive. We were so inspired, that decided to take another tour - tenements visit - in the nearest future.
We learned lots of interesting things, and tried some fun food - I had a bialey! Like a bagel. I wished I’d been hungrier, to try more things. Gabby, our guide, was fabulous.
Out guide Elizabeth was great gave great history of neighborhood and the food places we stopped at. Good variety of food samples. Great ethnic samples of latkes, bagel, jerky etc
Unexpected interesting tour! I thought it was just an rating tour. It was also a very interesting tour about The History of New York City. Not all facts are written in books that students use at School but it doesn't mean that these facts are not interesting and useful to understand what it is going in and why nowadays. The guide was Great. He knows everything. Per gli amici italiani, la storia alla Manzoni nel prologo dei Promessi Sposi
Really enjoyed this tour! There was a wide range of delicacies encountered, and plenty of opportunities to choose what you'd like to try (often running out of time at each stop though because of my indecisiveness...). Our guide, Claire, was extremely personable and knowledgeable, which made for a very interesting tour where we learnt a lot about the Lower East Side area as well. Would highly recommend for anyone interested.
I couldn’t pick a favourite part. So many delicious stops. I was full after two stores. I would recommend, if you are in a group, sharing as much as possible so as not to peak too soon. Claire was a fun, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide and the whole group felt friendly and laidback. The sweet knish at the end was revelation (though I didn’t eat it until an hour later) Other food tours I’ve been on were more expensive and included food but there was too much variety and volume for this to be easily possible on this tour. It works best as a “set your own limits” style.
It was an amazing tour. Loved Liz the guide. The food and history were great. Liz showed us things that if we were just walking would not have seen the history of this piece of New York.
The tour was really nice, and our guide Claire took the time to explain the history behind each dish we sampled. It was a fun way to learn about NYC. Would highly recommend it.
