My husband and I were planning a weekend getaway to the Hyde Park area for our wedding anniversary. In researching things to do, this llama/alpaca hike came up with great reviews so we booked. What a fun and unique experience for a beautiful October morning it turned out to be! Before you hike you head into the pastures to meet the mini donkeys, goats and some of the llamas and alpacas. Then, after learning all the dos and don'ts of how to lead your llama or alpaca, you are paired with an animal. My llama was Prince Caspian and my husband's was Percy. They were so friendly and easy to guide. Several goats also followed along. You can tell all the animals are well taken care of and loved.

This was my fifth time visiting Clover Brooke Farm and it certainly won’t be my last! I wanted to share this experience again with my family and now with their significant others. We all had a blast, being in nature with the llamas, alpacas, donkeys, miniature horse, goats, and sheep. Kate was our tour guide and she was very welcoming and made sure we had a great experience. It is such a fun experience, walking the alpacas and llamas! You leave there with such fond memories and you fell in love with these amazing animals! They now have an Airbnb and a private area for bachelorette parties and other special occasions. I highly recommend this experience for ages 10+.
My wife and I booked the Donkey walk at Clover Brook Farms. The staff was great, and we sat in a rustic air conditioned room waiting for our start time. Our Donkey walkguide was Steven. I walked Joy, and my wife walked Lee. We walked or donkeys through the farm fields that had goats, sheep, Alpacas and llamas. Very nice and peaceful as we walked and talked for an hour or so. The tour ended at the farmhouse store, which had some nice items. We will be going back!
My wife and I did the llama / alpaca hike and really enjoyed it. The animals are well behaved and there was no spitting involved. The hike is the perfect distance and not too strenuous, winding through meadow and shaded forest trails with only minor hills. Our guide was great and we learned a lot about the animals and farm life.
We stayed in the Air B and B apartments on the farm and don’t recommend. The water in the bathroom smells terrible of rotten eggs. The water also doesn’t drain in the bathroom sink or kitchen sink. The owner gave lie to my husband to put didn’t the sink to try to help the water go find and he burned the skin on his hands. We left the apt completely clean and the owner we think was upset we didn’t write a review so she made up lies saying we were messy guests in an air b and b rating which is unprofessional and surprising a business owner would do that. The owner is not friendly what’s so ever would walk by without an a hello. We were very surprised and disappointed by the experience.
What a beautiful farm. Kate was very informative. We learned to much. The hike with Percy and Remy was fun!
What a unique and amazing experience this was! Kate, the guide, was so well spoken and knowledgeable. The rain did not dampen our spirits as Kate made it fun throughout. We were so pleasantly surprised that each one of us got to walk our own llama or alpaca. Photo ops were frequent and entertaining. It was the highlight of our week long trip in this ea and we would do it again!!
Our day at Clover Brooke Farm was a true standout for our family. We were a group of 10 ranging from 8 to 66 years old and everyone had the best time. We started with the llama/alpaca hike after meeting some of the animals, broke for a picnic lunch, which we brought from home, and then did a lavender loofah activity before Llamaste yoga. The setting is beautiful, the guides/teachers were excellent and the activities could not have brought more laughs or smiles. One of our granddaughters who is super excited to go to sleep away camp this summer said as we were wrapping up the day, " I'd give up sleep away camp if I could bring a llama home!"
This was a fun and unique experience. Kate gave us a tour of the farm which was great and all the animals are super cute and well looked after. The hike is really chilled and I’d highly recommended!
It was fun and informative. The interaction with Llama and Alpacas was amazing.
Walking with the llamas and alpacas was such fun. It is an easy hike and the animals were sweet and well behaved. The whole farm was full of animals and the guides made it such an enjoyable experience.
My wife and I visited the Clover Brooke Farm on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Kate was our guide as we toured the farm and went on the alpaca tour with alpacas Moe and Chewbacca. Moe and Chewbacca were very friendly and patiently walked with us around the approximately 1 mile trail. I definitely recommend this tour for families with younger children. We had a great time and think you will too.
We had the best visit to Clover Brook Farm. As city gals we were cautious about taking the alpaca/llama hike but we had so much fun. Our guide Katie was super- she explained how to handle our companions, Percy the llama & Remy the alpaca, and what to expect- she was professional and excited about her job. Several goats came along with us and they added a little mischief to the walk which was adorable!! After our hike we visited the other animals and enjoyed learning all about life on the farm. Our visit ended in the gift shop where we bought homemade wild thyme soap- can’t wait to try it! This would be a wonderful activity to do with young children who love animals and are curious about farm life. Highly recommend! 🦙 💚
Small family run farm that allows you to walk their alpacas and llamas. Insightful host our day was the husband/father. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. Great way to round out a day in Hyde Park before or after the FDR library. Not really a hike. More like a walk through pastures and a jaunt through the woods. Maybe 0.5 miles. Where proper footwear. It is a farm after all!
Omg, my niece and I had a fantastic experience at the farm. Our guide Kate was so friendly and informative about the animals. I can’t wait to go back.
We had a great afternoon visiting the animals and walking with Remy, an alpaca. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We got to meet some goats, donkeys, sheep and llamas as well. They all have unique personalities and our guide shared their stories. Our guide was very engaging. She took a ton of photos of us with Remy at the photo stop. Highly recommend.
I wanted to celebrate my daughter’s 9th birthday. We also wanted to get out of the city for a bit and enjoy some time away. Mike greeted us warmly and introduced us to some animals and answered questions. When we first arrived, the farm was more peaceful and beautiful than I could have possibly anticipated. My daughter and I walked with some alpaca’s named Bear and Teddy whose names were interchangeable. They were brothers a year apart in age. The walk was comfortable and alpacas were sweet and kind and looked at us with their memorable eye lashes and eyes. One of our favorite moments, was “picture rock” a moment to take a picture and take in the farm and its environment. We took an Amtrak train to Poughkeepsie and an Uber both ways. It was well worth it! If I was more organized I would have considered spending the evening in one of the lodging rooms available. Not only was it wonderful but very informative, relaxing, and enjoyable! Please don’t hesitate and go! Thank you, Mike!
This is an amazing experience. We learned so much about llama and alpaca from Mike. Such great, interesting animals! He told us about each one; their background and personality as he brought them out for the hike. All the animals on the farm are clearly loved and very well cared for. The hike was relaxing and enjoyable. We stayed at their Airbnb on the farm. Andrea has created a beautiful, peaceful place to "get away", even for a short visit. We definitely plan to visit again for a new experience and hopefully participate in one of the craft classes offered.
Loved everything about this tour! Grace, our guide, was engaging and informative! The animals were friendly. Loved walking Remy, the alpaca
We took my brother and sister in law as a birthday weekend. The owner was very informative. We had a great time walking the adorable alpacas and visiting the farm. The gift shop has so many cute things and the alpaca soap is amazing! I wish I had bought more of that! There’s plenty to do for the weekend as Rosevelt’s estate is right in the area, as well as the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park.
This was a great experience. We Highly recommend that you schedule a hike with the alpacas and llamas. We had 20 people and they accommodated us and worked with our big group to make it enjoyable for everyone. Every single person in the group said it was the best afternoon. They also have a cute little store that you can check out at the end of the hike. Clean nice bathrooms. Just a great few hours. Thank you so much for ending my daughter’s wedding weekend in the Catskills on such a high note. We hope we can see you again. Do this! You won’t regret it
What a unique experience! Andrea, the tour guide was wonderful and very knowledgable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her animals. We had a lovely time with the Alpacas and Llamas.
We took the Llama/Alpaca Hike and farm tour and had a great time on Cloverbrooke Farm! My husband, 8 year old daughter and I took a tour of the farm, met some goats, donkeys, farm cats, learned all about farm life and raising animals (mostly rescues) and then went on a beautiful hike with Llamas and Alpacas. Mike was our very knowledgeable tour guide and Andrea, his wife, assisted us in the gift shop. My daughter was thrilled with this tour and I felt it was a bucket list item that I didn't know I needed. Very sweet animals. I highly recommend this tour.
We had the most amazing day at Clover Brooke Farms!! We learned about the farm, but the highlight was walking with our very own llama!!! We plan on going again next year and bring new friends with us!!
It was a great time had by my friend and I. The host was very knowledgeable and a great fun group of other enthusiasts. I would recommend this outing it was actually on my bucket list. Wear good sturdy shoes.
The best experience of the year. Informative, educational, and funfilled! My teenage kids want to come back here again just to see their favorite llamas and alpacas. The animals here are heart-warmingly sweet. You can tell that they have been raised with so much love and care! You will fall in love with them - no doubt. Thanks for the amazing experience!
Loved our alpaca and llama experience! Not only did we have a nice walk with our alpacas and llamas we learned a lot about the workings of a farm and the nature of the animals there.
Lovely farm, beautiful animal and a Great Host! We learned all about the history of the farm and the family who live there.
Beautiful, friendly animals! Before our llama/alpaca walk, we met some goats, sheep, and donkeys! We strolled thru pastures, a trail in the woods, and passed a hop field. It was fun when a group of sheep also passed through our trail. One of a kind date experience!
My fiancé and I had such an amazing time at Clover Brooke Farm! We did the llama/alpaca hike. Andrea started off the tour by giving us a brief history of the farm and explaining the differences between the animals. We got to pet them as we listened. I didn't expect to learn so much! After that portion of the tour, we did a hike with a llama. We really enjoyed it and couldn't stop smiling and laughing the whole time! This was such a unique experience and I highly recommend booking this tour for a fun weekend activity!
Had an amazing time at the llama/alpaca farm! Perfect for first-timers, I learned a lot about their unique personalities. The hike was easy and enjoyable even in cold weather. Great photo ops and a cute farm shop too. Highly recommend for a fun and educational outing!
My friend and I had such a great time with the llamas. The owner was super friendly and informative. My llama was a bit of a trouble maker (shout out to Percy) but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Will be recommending to everyone I know that loves animals. This was such a treat.
We had a wonderful visit! We were brought on a short tour/animal visit to start off. Andrea is super knowledgeable and the animals clearly adore her! She told us about the history of the farm while we got to pet some of the animals. Then it was time for our llama hike. The hike was perfect - it isn’t too long. There are a couple of hills, but nothing major. It was a fabulous time all around! We can’t wait to return!
Beautiful farm! I loved the experience and miss Remy already! I was additionally able to see the chicken coop, goats, 2 farm kitties and 1 with a collar! Then saw the girls and boys separately and bonded with my alpaca during our hike :)
This is a great activity for people who have literally never interacted with llamas/alpacas haha! Learned lots. Didn't know they were so beautiful and had such distinct personalities! The hike was very manageable and even in cold weather it was very enjoyable. There is a nice designated photo opp as well, and a cute little farm shop.
Spent a wonderful day with my teenage son exploring this peaceful and beautiful farm and surroundings, meeting an amazing array of llamas, alpacas, sheep, roosters, bunnies, and two very polite and welcoming donkeys! The guide was excellent and passionate in her explanations of all aspects of the farm and its inhabitants. The hike with the Llamas and Alpacas was scenic and memorable. The farm store is well appointed with some lovely mementos . The farm is clean and lovingly maintained — a real treat! I look forward to my next visit and will tell many people about this unique place and its special creatures.
Bottom line: you must experience this peaceful farm, the heart-lifting walk with an alpaca (goat or llama), the welcoming farm tour by Andrea and her family and the fresh outdoors. Kids. Adults. Everyone. Easy 1 1/2 mile walk, with one incline (it's not even a hill, just a little incline). You'll smile the whole time you are there!
llama/alpaca walk pros:animals were very friendly and sweet! some were soft. beautiful scenery and something fun to do. educational cons: andrya was quite rude. didn’t greet us even when we came inside to check in. kept trying to force adults to pay attention to her when they were clearly disinterested. very demeaning tone to certain ppl when asking questions. one moment everyone noticed an alpaca doing something funny and wanted to stop and watch and had questions and she fully ignored us and spoke over ppl to tell us to follow her to the front where the other llamas were. the forced history lesson of the farm was uncomfortable given the concept of owning land and farming in this country in the 1800s but i digress. i would have preferred that time being used to tell the group more about how to handle the animals to avoid her rude outbursts towards people making mistakes. definitely could be cheaper considering how long the hike actually is but would consider taking my friends on her day off
Really enjoyable afternoon learning about a working farm, producing fiber (don't call it wool!) from Llamas and the even-more-adorable alpacas. It's a family-run farm, and Andrea guided us to a fun group-grope with those beasts, including a few random goats and donkeys. The tour ends with a hike where every visitor gets their own llama or alpaca on a leash, and the animals are very amiable and easy to handle. Very family-friendly and worth your time.
We spent a lovely morning learning about the different animals on the farm and our son had the time of his life walking his alpaca. He's still talking about it. One of the highlights of our vacation for sure!
This is our second time visiting this farm and we loved it!! Last year we took a goat for a walk, this year we took a donkey for a walk. What a wonderful experience, the walk is easy , the grounds are beautiful and our tour guide Jonathon was extremely knowledgeable and fun. I would totally recommend this farm to all!!!
What an awesome activity!! My daughter loved seeing and petting all the animals. This is pure food for your soul, everyone should do it!! Big shout out to Brooke and Kayla who were thoughtful, engaged, and very informative teachers. They did a great job teaching us about everything going on with this sustainable farm. Thanks!!
Such a fun and educational experience! Worth every penny! The site is a beautiful farm where you will have an opportunity to meet goats, llamas, alpacas and a very friendly farm cat.
My family and I had an incredible experience on the farm tour. We learned about the animals, thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and even captured some adorable pictures along the way. I highly recommend it!"
Our group of four had the honor of walking and hiking with one alpaca and one llama. The animals are friendly and cooperative. Andrea is so kind and knowledgeable, sharing about the farm and her passion for making it a truly educational experience.
Andrea, our host/owner/operator of the farm could NOT have been more inspiring and knowledgeable! Best experience. My friends and I (and our children - we were 9 in total) had a delightful time. The farm is breath-taking; the information about the farm, and the passion Andrea has for her farm are all very fantastic. Such a lovely afternoon was had by all. Definitely worth your time.
This was a birthday gift for my friend Katie, and she loved it! Mike was knowledgeable about the animals, and the farm was clean and beautiful. The llamas and alpacas were friendly, and we had a great time.
This was fun for everyone. After an entertaining orientation (with lots of pics and petting) we were matched with either a llama or alpaca and off we went. The easy walk was about 45-60 minutes. Everyone, young and old, really enjoyed this activity about 10 minutes from Hyde Park. By the way, great T-shirts.
We cannot recommend Clover Brooke Farm more highly! We had a wonderful experience doing both the Llama hike and Bunny-pa-looza. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the farm is centered in an ethic of compassionate care, both for the animals and the land. Professional and friendly owners made you feel welcome while offering information about both their farm and the animals in an accessible and engaging way. Very thoughtful matching of animals to persons based on experience and personality. The trail winds through gorgeous pastures, fields, and forests with pause points to take photos. Just the perfect group size, hike length, information shared, as well as time for silence to just enjoy the stunning surround. A pleasure to support a family business that cares for the land and animals so lovingly. Don’t miss the gift shop at the end with beautiful home-crafted goods, including honey from the farm, knitwear, and the most adorable llama, alpaca, and bunny holiday ornaments (all are white and really tasteful). An easy drive from Brooklyn, especially if you’re leaving in the earlier morning (no traffic!). Thank you all at Clover Brooke Farm for a heart-filling day!
We visited the farm and the weather was definitely crazy! We were lucky to have the time we arranged to do the hike clear up miraculously. Such an amazing experience. A family run farm and it was truly an amazing experience. Just listening to the owner of the farm share the history of the farm and the animals and their personalities and how the farm runs was truly so engaging and just perfect. We went with our children age range 18-24 a quick weekend getaway And they absolutely loved it and found it to be just something so amazing and impactful and educational. Well worth the trip.
