This was our second Manhattan Walking tour - last year was Hells Kitchen with Jake which we loved and this year we did Greenwich Village food tour with Alex which was also great. Lots of history along with fun facts, great eats! Was a fun afternoon. Thank you! We have already recommended to friends coming to NYC!
Wonderful I had a great experience and learned a lot from my guide. He showed us a lot of different things
This is a wonderful tour to experience the history of the Highline and Greenwich Village as well as enjoying some iconic New York food. Cale was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable about the city. He shared stories as we walked and chatted together and was very open to questions. The food options were spot on, with the Bleecker St pizza being a stand out. Highly recommended and will book another tour with this company to cover another part of New York when we next visit.
I’ve visited NY many times, but there is something about a tour that makes it even better! Our guide Alex was fun, and great to listen to! He pointed things out that you take for granted when you’re exploring on your own, and we stopped at multiple restaurants that were equally delicious!
I did the Greenwich Village food tour with Jonathan on my first day in NYC, and it was the perfect way to ease into the city. It was just the two of us, which I was initially a little apprehensive about - as someone who's on the quieter side - but the experience turned out to be relaxed, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable. The pace allowed time to absorb the atmosphere of the neighborhood, and Jonathan’s commentary as we walked was lively and informative. For me, this tour wasn’t about ticking off major sights - it was about wandering through a part of the city I was curious to explore, soaking up its character, sampling the local (and excellent!) food and simply enjoying being there. The combination of walking, conversation and eating was exactly the kind of experience I was hoping for.
We had Alex as our tour guide. He was informative and energetic. Gave us lots of information and it was a great way to spend 1/2 a day in NYC.
Our tour guide, David, was absolutely the best. He was knowledgeable and managed to fit in an enormous amount of information in a short few hours. We loved every minute of our walk on the Highline followed by the Tasting Tour of Greenwich. David even sent us a text with a recap of the food places we visited and what we sampled at each one. We thought every one of them was a winner.
Tour of Highline, Greenwhich Village & Meatpacking District from Claire was personalized and the food was AMAZING!!!
Jake was amazing! He shared so much information about the Highline a Greenich Village. Jake’s sense of humor was wonderful, and his love for the city was evident throughout the tour. Jake introduced us to places we knew nothing about as well as hitting all the famous spots! Jake for win!
Our Greenwich Village Food Tour was our 5th with the Manhattan Walking Tour company, and we have been thrilled with all of them! Our first two were with the amazing Nancy who is now retired and the last three with Jake who is equally amazing! He researches the neighbourhoods so well and relates interesting facts and stories throughout the tours, (our first two with Jake were the Brooklyn Walking tour and the Chinatown Food tour). These food tours always have 5 food stops and most often introduce us to restaurants we would have never known about otherwise. This summer’s tour was our second through Greenwich Village but since our first was with Nancy back in 2019, it was great to revisit this neighbourhood and 3 of the stops had changed! Alex, the owner, is also wonderful to speak with when I book. I always recommend this tour company to family and friends who are travelling to NYC.
Claire was an amazing guide, she took us to great food spots and shared so much local history along the way. She was super knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer all our questions. Highly recommend!
Great tour with a lot of history that you wil not get anywhere else. Understanding the history helps me appreciate the present so Well Done!
This is a great experience! You get a little history and sample some great food. The food is excellent and it is from small local eateries that I would never find on my own. Bleecker St. Pizza was the best pizza I have ever had! The best part of this tour is Jake, our tour guide. He is personable, knowledgeable, and makes it a fun experience. I highly recommend this tour and make sure you ask for Jake.
The High Line and Greenwich Village were high on our list of things to see in NYC, and this tour was the perfect way to experience them. Claire, our guide, was fun and engaging—we learned a ton from her and had a blast doing it. Keeping the group small is so valuable on tours like these, and we were able to have great conversations. Also, it was a super cold, windy day, and Claire worked hard to keep us as shielded from the elements as possible without missing out on any info or points of interest. She was fantastic! Side note: If you're wondering what in the world the little puffy balls in the main image for this tour are, they're some kind of delightful French meringue pastry concoction you'll definitely want to try. Cherry was so scrumptious!
Great tour! Nicky was on time, friendly and gave an informative and fun tour of the Highline and Greenwhich Village. The food was fabulous, including the British Pasty, French pastries, Bleecker St Pizza, and Taco Mahal Chicken Masala taco. Definitely recommend the tour.
All the food was amazing and Claire was so funny and extremely knowledgeable. Her sense of humor and passion for the deep history of NYC was charming and entertaining.
We recently took this High Line and Greenwich food tour with Claire and had an awesome experience. Not only was the High Line beautiful this time of year, and all of the foot yummy, but Claire was a wealth of knowledge. She had stories, history, and many pictures to share. She really brought the history alive. I would readily recommend either or both of these tours to any of my friends visiting the area. If you enjoy history and want to see some great sights in this area of the city, I’d recommend this tour group.
This was a fascinating and fun tour. Our guide Alex knew so much history and shared many stories about the area. We had a small group so plenty of opportunity to ask questions and be part of the action. The walking wasn’t onerous and it was great value for money. We stayed on to do a second tour of Greenwich Village and were treated to more if Alex’s expertise as well as some fantastic food. We loved every minute - thank you Alex!
Generally a great tour. Alex our guide was fab and we loved the High Line part . Lots of insights into architecture , trade and commerce and of course the American way of life. The gardens were lovely, filled with cheerful purple asters in the Fall and edgy artwork. However slightly disappointed by the Greenwich Village food part. 2 desserts, no bagels and not much sitting down to eat !
I cannot recommend this food walking tour enough! From start to finish, it was an unforgettable journey through the scenes of GV. Our guide, Dave, was knowledgeable about the city’s history and culture. Each stop on the tour introduced us to hidden gems and local favorites that we would have never discovered on our own. What made the tour even more special was the guide’s attention to detail and their ability to create a fun, engaging atmosphere for the group. Whether you’re a local or a first-time visitor, this tour will leave you with a new appreciation for GV and its history.
We did the combo walking tour of the High Line plus food tour of Greenwich Village with Jake as our guide. Jake was engaging, enthusiastic and loaded with tantalizing historical and mythical info about NYC! Despite the busy, noisy streets (it's NYC after all!), and miserable rainy weather, Jake kept us engaged AND very well fed throughout!I I appreciated that as an aspiring actor, Jake was able to "project" his voice above the city din so we didn't miss any of his fascinating tidbits! An exceptional and educational experience even for a native New Yorker like myself!
We went on a High line Food Tour with Claire recently. It was so much more than food. Claire had lots of interesting facts & stories of the development of this very impressive area of NYC. All the food stops were great, too. Our favorite was Bleecker Street Pizza where we had the opportunity to meet & share pizza with a grandson, Greg, of the founding owner. The pizza was so good that we returned the next day!
History, nature, real estate and great food - Claire was an exceptional tour guide! This tour exceeded our expectations.
Alex was an amazing guide — very informative and helpful. He was very accommodating to the group, which included elderly people. All the food stops were delicious and very impressive.
This walking food taste if your was way more than we expected and we had an amazing experience. The young lady guide was so knowledgeable and attentive to our needs.
This was a superb tour. Nicky was a good-spirited, bright, and informative guide. He kept us in motion and engaged through the entire tour. His food contacts were exceptionally good and great fun. This tour is highly recommended, particularly with Nicky as the guide.
What a fun way to learn about a city! Although Cale wasn't a native, you wouldn't have known it from the breadth of his knowledge about the city. The food we had was excellent. His stories were fun, and he was very accommodating. Ask for Cale on Manhattan Walking Tours!
Cale was a terrific guide who knows about the history and quirkiness of the High Line and Greenwich Village. He should be an honorary New Yorker. We appreciated Cale and the company accommodating us. The food- and the stories behind the food were fun - and delicious! Wish we could have take those treats back home with us. Go on this tour and ask for Cale!
When we go to a new city we walk. Tens of thousands of steps every day. One of the first things we do is find a grass roots walking tour to kick off our visit. To get a glimpse of the soul of the city and a locals view of where to go next, beyond the cliche tourist lists. Dave and his walk did just that. He pointed out all sorts of facts and history of the area that is invisible if you just walk and look by yourself. Detailed background of the visible structures and history of things you may not even look twice at. Thanks Dave and Manhattan Walking Tours S and A
Loved seeing the High Line Park and hearing it’s history. Claire, our guide was very knowledgeable and really made the tour a great existence. Food stops were diverse and all delicious. Had a blast!
the entire experience was delightful - you MUST do this tour. the guide Alex was wonderful, i learned so many things, and had some fantastic food. DO this tour!!
The walking food tour was outstanding. It is a combination of history and gastronomic experience. Our guide Dave was remarkable in connecting history with the delicious food that we tasted. Definitely worth every penny.
We enjoyed ourselves walking around Greenwich Village. Claire was awesome! She was very informative and passionate. We learned a lot about the area and had lots of yummy food. Would definitely use this tour company again.
Highly recommend this tour, and specifically this company. Their customer service is exceptional. Dave was a wonderful guide. He was personable, knowledgeable and shared with us parts of the city that we would not have been able to discover on our own. He had a vast array of knowledge about the area - history, architecture, food, music and more. Our teenagers very much enjoyed the tour also.
Amazing tour guide with Alex, extremely knowledgeable and friendly and welcoming. was open to questions and have lots of information to share. Definitely recommend Alex.
We had a great tour with Claire! We very much enjoyed learning the history of the high line and Greenwich Village. Claire made the day fun, and I loved that she had a variety of information to share, making it enjoyable for myself, husband, and teenage daughter. The food was fantastic and a great way to learn about local restaurants! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting.
What a brilliant interesting tour , made so so much more interesting with the best guise I think we have ever had , Jake , obviously loves his city … very knowledgable, and of course the food was amazing, highly recommended
Another great tour of NYC with Manhattan Walking Tours! Our guide, Jake, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable andavailabavailabavailabavailabavailabavailabavailabavailabavailablavailablable to flex based on some of our individual neêds. Food selected was unique, not things we would have known about on our own. He was able to answer our questions and not just tell us what was on the script.
This was a great tour. The food stops were interesting and unique. But Dave T is the star of the tour- wealth of information about history of the area and unique things going on today.
We went on the High Line tour with Claire and we loved it! She told us about the history of the area which, as a movie buff, I really enjoyed. Think “Gangs of New York” and “The Gilded Age”. We also did the Greenwich Village food tour. New York is known for it’s pizza and we tried 3 during our stay. Bleeker Street Pizza was by far the best. I will book another tour next time I visit. Small groups with local guides showing us hidden gems. What could be more perfect? Photos of my friend w Claire (the redhead) and me on the High Line. Great time.
Took this tour on a rainy day with Claire, who brought her ray-of-sunshine personality, a lot of historical knowledge, and delicious food! Loved it.
Jake was terrific What food! We would do it again tomorrow Don’t make dinner reservations after. We’ll see you again.
Spectacular tour! Our tour guide Claire was so knowledgeable of the history of the city and was a fantastic story teller keeping us all engaged through out. Her food choices were phenomenal! I would recommend this booking for anyone looking to learn about the city while enjoying samplings of the best locally owned spots!
What a great tour. David was informative and entertaining as we walked the Highline and were just in awe of the great little restaurants we visited in Greenwich Village. This is a well done, small group tour. Don't hesitate!
Really enjoyed the day and our guide Claire B along with her fellow guide Nicky were very knowledgeable and provided us with a very comprehensive tour. The food stops included in the tour were an added bonus and a chance to get out of the cold breeze. We were a small party and it was a pleasure to meet the other members on the tour, three sisters from Mississippi, who were great company. The overall pace was steady and not too demanding. Well worth doing in our opinion.
We can highly recommend the Greenwich Village Food Tour with Alex. The food selection was great - we loved everything we tried! And it was just the right amount - you certainly got plenty to eat but not so stuffed that we didn't want dinner later. A great overview of a beautiful neighborhood!
This was an awesome tour. The food was very good. Claire was a wonderful tour guide. Interesting history but, more than that, tidbits of information about NY today. I enjoyed it and Claire very much. I would recommend it to everyone without hesitation.
This is a big shout out to Manhattan Walking Tour and specifically our guide Jonathan H. My wife and I did this tour with Jonathan along with two other people on the last full day of our visit and recommend to anyone considering this tour to do it early in your visit. There is a lot to see and do on this tour from beginning to end. Walking the Highline offered many views and Jonathan's stories and historical perspectives really added to the experience. Plenty of vintage and contemporary architecture on that part of the trip. The food stops in Greenwich were great. Top shelf favorite food stop was Bleecker Street Pizza. Our absolute favorite thing about this tour was strolling through the West Village neighborhoods. Personally, I wish we had more time in those areas. The Jazz clubs are calling. Would loved to have stepped into Aurthur's Tavern or The Blue Note. Do this tour near the beginning of your trip. We did it on our last day. Just amazing...we will return to this amazing city. Thank you Jonathan H. and Manhattan Walking Tour Graham and Shanta from Kamloops BC, Canada
Our tour guide Clare was excellent, very knowledgeable and friendly. She took us to places we would have normally just walked past. The various food stops again were very good.
