Loved the tour guide & bus driver. Nothing was too much trouble. The Choir - amazing,. Certainly spirit fulfilling. A truly amazing look at Harlem.
Alvin led a tour that included the history of Harlem’s transitions that segued into today’s issues and climaxed with a superb concert by the group once known as the ARC Gospel Choir.
Truly humbling experience Guide was knowledgeable professional and could answer questions and details The experience was amazing I loved the choir the group and the church everything was special and spiritual I really felt it
I really enjoyed the tour. I felt an overwhelming sense of emotion when the singing first started. I would have liked some more storytelling on a personal level though. It was good, but also felt a little bit of “just going through the motions”.
Great knowledgeable guide and a performance to be remembered. My second visit to see them as I came back after 2 years and booked the exact same tour
The Harlem Gospel Ensemble was outstanding!!!! It’s worth the tour to hear them. I was hoping to hear about the role Harlem played in the Arts - guide just pointed out some buildings. Stopped in front of the Apollo - nothing about its history. Could only see 3 names on the walk of fame. Was under construction. Nothing to see! Kind of a questionable neighborhood to be let out for 15 minutes. Gospel Choir - AMAZING 5+ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Guide - 2 ⭐️⭐️ Tell me about the culture of Harlem in its heyday and how it’s still alive today in the culture of America!
The bus was not conducive to site seeing There was much that couldn’t be seen regardless of which side of the bus you were on The gospel experience was excellent
Our tour guide was lovely gentleman who was very informative and sweet. A real treat to stop at Hamiltons house, which I wasn’t expecting. The gospel choir was incredible and heartwarming and was everything we could have wanted to experience. One of the highlights of our trip to NYC from Australia. Will definitely do this again! Highly recommend!
Tour guide, pickup, sites of interest, value, transportation, etc, all aspects of the tour were beyond expectations! But of course the Gospel show was the ultimate goal and that was a success that we will long remember. We would not hesitate to recommand this tour. The lady who commented the tour did an excellent job switching from French to Italian, and providing insights to Harlem City and its history.
Our Guide Dwain was aswom! The choire was great! The organization perfect! We were a small group with people from all over the world with good chemistry thanks to our guide!
Duane is a superb guide, he really brought the group together, he is widely travelled and so knowledgeable. The bus tour of Harlem followed by a visit to the church to hear the choir was probably the highlight of the holiday.
Alvin, fantastic and very informative especially different parts of history in New York. The gospel choir itself blew my wife and I socks off goosebumps and tears of happiness would highly recommend this tour
We thoroughly enjoyed our informative tour of Harlem and most especially, the moving and inspiring performance of the Harlem Gospel Choir. Led by their pastor, they are an extremely talented group, and we take this opportunity to wish them well. Special thanks to our wonderful guide for a fantastic and insightful tour.
This was certainly not what we thought we are going to see. Great experience but not the choir we thought we had booked or paid for.
Thé guide Peggy was super and so thé gospel concert. And thé visite of harlem. Nothing else to say Excursion to do
This tour was incredible, but mainly because of our guide. A knowledgeable lady from Alabama, she was the center of it all. Learning about her life and hearing her perspective was the highlight. We went through Harlem and ended the tour with an absolutely gorgeous gospel concert. If you need soul music, this is for you. The history, the sights and the sounds are unique to NYC. Thanks to our tour guide, a true “Renaissance” woman. We didn’t have cash to tip her, and this will haunt me. She said she’d been in NYC since the 1970s, so I hope tour goers get the opportunity to travel around with her. I hope this review reflects positively on her light and gifts. YOU MUST ATTEND THIS TOUR!
I would recommend this tour to everyone who has 3 hours of spare time in NYC. During the bus ride to the church, our guide told us many stories about the life in Harlem now and then, about well-known black people, she also mentioned several interesting jazz clubs and signature restaurants as well as many important sights. The concert at the church is an unforgettable experience in many ways. Members of the choir are tallented and warm-hearted people and the concert itself is unparalleled! It is one hour of unequaled singing of songs the lyrics of which are deep and occasionally very touching. A unique and truly different tour!
Knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Great singing.Learnt a lot about Harlem and experienced the area for the first time.
It was great to see Harlem and hear about the history. I'm a singer in a Dutch gospelchoir. It was so fantastic to hear the voices of the choir and all a capella! My compliments for them!
Gospel choir enthusiastic and entertaining. Tour may benefit from a few more stops at points if interest only passed by inthe coach
I like the social work done by the group beyond the singing i.e. helping people with alcohol or drug problems
Our guide tried very hard to work with the awful weather. She spoke 2 languages which added to her challenges. I got a little tired of her telling the driver off. In addition, if there are guests with awful colds ? Covid, they should be asked to wear masks. Hoping I don’t get sick too
The Gospel Choir. Amazing voices, amazing harmonies, so powerful brought a tear to my eyes. A fantastic experience i would 100% recommend. Loved it 😍
I will definitely recommend to people Such a moving spiritual experience Would definitely re visit and do this again
The genuiness of the experience. Also, the knowledge of the tour guide. I felt like I went to Church.
A fresh perspective of Harlem and the joy of the gospel choir. Appealed to a wide age group. Highly recommended.
Loved the concert, it was amazing. Everyone was clapping and singing. Wish it had of gone longer. Alvin was great!
A great overview of the history of Harlem, and the choir was incredible. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to get a taste for Harlem. Our tour guide was also amazing and made this tour lots of fun
Becky was an absolutely amazing guide! And the Choir was outstanding! The bus was comfortable and easy to find.
Harlem Choir singing amazing. You have to see it for real. Very emotional. Can’t stop smiling. People lovely
The Gospel Choir was as good as can be. Highly recommend the tour. Loved being in Harlem and seeing a part of New York filled with so much history and culture.
Patty was an amazing guide, full of interesting information about what we were seeing. The choir was fabulous! Our driver was so calm, I don't imagine driving a tour bus in NYC is easy!
From the first harmony this group held us with its repertoire of loved and new songs. The power, vitality and versatility from the rich bass to exquisite soprano harmonies brought everyone to their feet. I’d see them again and again.
Amazing! Informative guide, the gospel choir brilliant and moving experience. Highly recommend this tour.
Very memorable experience. The Harlem Gospel choir was amazing. Highly recommended. The tour guide was fantastic and kind.
I was just expecting a group to do some singing, but I was pleasantly surprised and the experience that was shared with us. It was very uplifting.
Had a great time , from the concert at the church ( which was fantastic ) to the company securing me a reservation and delivering us to the local restaurant . I would highly recommend a day out with Harlem Spirituals to anyone
Our guide grew up in Harlem so had the inside story. I learned so much and really appreciate the Harlem experience. The gospel choir was sensational and with praise comes blessings. So uplifting.
The gospel singers were fantastic and sang for a whole hour.. very professional! The rest of the bus tour was quite average with only a couple of minutes in the Bronx and we were shown very little of how life is or was in Harlem or the Bronx.. mainly just shown rich peoples homes, and the guide pointed out several homes where famous people had lived.. not what we thought we’d be seeing at all! The areas we went through were far better than in Brooklyn where we are staying in Airbnb!
Tour guide was very informative and knew much about the area of Harlem, Manhatten and the Bronx. The Choir were fantastic and everyone really enjoyed the concert.
The most important part of the experience is the gospel concert, even though I would have preferred a real gospel mass, which I thought to be assisting to. Interesting the tour and the explanation of Harlem history.
Warm bus, excellent and entertaining guide fluent in two languages, calm safe bus driver. Loved hearing the music history, visiting Alexander Hamilton home, and the highlight was the amazing singing of the Harlem Gospel choir. Fabulous day!
It was great. Out tour guide was an exceptional person, highly educated and incredibly informative, but it would have been good to end the tour in west Manhattan at a subway station so people could get the subway to wherever they want as the long, bus ride back was unnecessary, slow and gruelling.
The most memorable part for me was listening to the gospel ensemble. I enjoyed the choir so much and I was happy to meet one of the choir members that was from my home state.
The pick-up point for the tour is 690 8th Ave - there was a tour rep at the door and our group of around 40 waited on the sidewalk for the luxury coach which arrived promptly at 9am. We drove to the Apollo theatre, left the coach for 10 mins or so and took a few pics. We then drove to the 145th St area to check out the Hamilton building and our guide provided background to it's history. A short stroll through sunny Harlem took us back to the coach and we then went to the church to listen to the Gospel choir who were amazing. They sang for around an hour, lots of hand clapping by the choir and audience. The choir members were kind enough to allow our group to pose with them for a few pics and answer any question after they finished singing. Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke in English and French and the driver expertly and safely navigated the coach through the snarled up Manhattan traffic. The traffic congestion into and out of Midtown Manhattan meant the tour lasted nearly 4 hours. A great experience. Note: there were lavatories at the church for all to use. We also had to wear face coverings when inside the church.
I really enjoyed the visit to Harlem - the tour was very well organised, our guide and driver excellent and the choir amazing. The meeting point is 690 8th Ave; there was a tour representative outside the door asking the visitors wait on the sidewalk for the coach to arrive - which it did at 9am. We visited the Apollo theatre, took a stroll around Harlem in the vicinity of 145th St and were then back on the coach to the church for the Gospel choir who sang for around an hour. Great singing, lots of hand clapping by the audience and a great experience.
Great experience, but having one guide handling two language (French and English) is not working. Use audio guides og keep it to one language.
Outstanding guide! Wonderful experience, I would do it again in a heart beat. My favourite part of our trip to NYC
The best excursion I’ve ever been on. Magical! The music and hospitality were second to none and gave you a real flavour of Harlem
