My wife and I got to spend our afternoon with Alex eating our way through Hells Kitchen history. Alex was charming, knowledgeable and engaging, my wife and I joked that we went to all of Alex’s favorite places to eat and they did not disappoint! We got to ask lots of questions, and Alex spent extra time with us to make sure we had a wonderful experience. I wish I had taken pictures to post, but that just speaks to how immersive the tour was, that we were too busy eating, learning and laughing. Anyone would be lucky to go on a tour (or a date) with Alex!
Alex was absolutely incredible. He really made the history of hell's kitchen come alive. The food we had was absolutely delicious! We were able to do hot pot, cookies, Indian tacos, cheeseboats, and Mediterranean food. Such a great tour that I would recommend to everyone!
Can’t recommend this tour and our guide, Alex, enough! Alex is the best & this tour was a definite highlight!
We took a Hells Kitchen tour with Claire Buckinham and I highly recommend her. Claire was engaging, entertaining, quite knowledgeable about the history of NYC, and a real joy to have as a tour guide. The food is interesting and plentiful. We added a tour of Central Park which was lovely. Book the tour, but be sure to request Claire as your guide!
Excellent tour. We have done many food walking tours and would highly recommend this one. Alex was a fantastic guide who has genuine enthusiasm and energy that makes the whole experience come alive. The variation in food represented the diversity of Hells Kitchen so well.
Wonderful experience. Jake did a wonderful job very organized. Great food great information! Highly recommend the Hill’s kitchen guided food tour. We experienced food we would have never experienced. Have we not been on this tour, that’s what made it so great!
Our guide Alex’s charismatic personality took us on a fascinating visit in Hell’s Kitchen. Learning the whole history of the area while tasting food in the selected restaurants was so interesting as well as a palate adventure. A lot of good fun. We continued on to visiting Central Park West where Alex pointed out to several otherwise unnoticeable details on statues, benches , steel marker … loved the whole tour combination and certainly highly recommend it. Great group ambiance. We will undoubtedly try another tour in the future to discover a different area of Manhattan.
We had wonderful guide, Claire. She was so knowledgeable about history of Hells Kitchen and Central Park. Food stops showed bariety of foods in atea.
Jake Wallace was amazing. He took us to some unique places in Hell's Kitchen and was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the food at each spot, but the stories of the neighborhoods. We would definitely recommend him!
Phenomenal tour. My daughter has food allergies that can be tricky and the whole team was fantastic helping to make sure there were always safe options for her at each restaurant. Claire is an amazing guide
Tim was a great tour guide. We took a good tour with the Central Park stroll and he wove some great stories in with the food. He shared a ton of knowledge and answered all our questions. An afternoon well—spent!!
This tour was such a wonderful experience! Claire was an entertaining and informative guide, full of interesting stories and historical information about the neighborhood. She also provided information about each of the restaurants we visited and the food that we tried. She took her time with the food tour and the Central Park tour, and never lost her energy or enthusiasm. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a top-notch tour experience!
Loved this tour! While the food was a truly diverse and delicious selection of treats and delights, the best thing about our tour was our guide, Jake. He was so knowledgeable about the area and was very generous with this time and care for making sure we had the best experience. So many fun facts about the history of the mob, arts culture, and how NYC became the place it is today. We were really glad we did the Central Park Stroll add on. We couldn't have eaten one more bite after the 2+hour Hell's Kitchen food stops, but Jake was a pleasure to follow around for the last 2 hours of the Central Park section. (Pro tip: take every advantage of hitting the bathrooms, bcs as the day went on, there were fewer available). This tour made for a great day in NYC before hitting a Broadway show. Cancel your dinner reservations!
Did this walking tour with my boyfriend and his daughter. We had a great experience with Cale. The food had great variations; I like how we did Japanese barbecue because cooking our own food as an extra layer of socializing with our group. The history portion of Hell’s kitchen and Central Park were interesting and fun to learn about.
Claire was a terrific guide. The tour covered parts of New York that you might walk through, but then miss out on the history and highlights of the area. The food was varied and really good. Central Park is a treasure in the heart of the City.
Loved the tour guide. Jake was great! He told interesting stories about the area while we ate at a variety of restaurants. It is so fun to try new places. Japanese BBQ was my favorite!
Claire was fantastic. She's was engaging, funny and a pure joy to be with. Her knowledge of the city and her stories eye amazing. Claire made the tour perfect.
Jake was a super knowledgeable and friendly guide. We loved the variety of the cuisines the food selection! Many of the dishes were things we’d never had before, and have now become favorites we’ll want to go back for more of. The portions were sized perfectly - no one left hungry.
We enjoyed a fabulous food tour of Hell’s Kitchen followed by walk in Central Park. Claire was a fantastic guide and kept the tour fun, informative and engaging. The restaurants we visited were varied and delicious; the Japanese BBQ was highlight for us! We also loved the tour of Central Park. The group size was intimate enough in that you didn’t feel rude stopping to ask questions. We brought my 11 yrs old nephew along and Claire went above and beyond to tailor the tour so he felt included! Would recommend to anyone!
Definitely a five Alex was definitely prepared and very professional and very knowledgeable of hell’s kitchen and Central Park. We all had a very good time. Alex is one of the best.
Our guide, Tim, was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant choices were perfect and were able to cater to a couple of the people in our group who had food sensitivity issues. Tim shared a lot of history of Hell’s kitchen and Central Park, as well as interesting stories about the city. I would highly recommend this tour.
David was an awesome host & tour guide!! Pls Come hungry for this walking tour. Enjoy well-selected restaurants. Delicious Food portions were generous. ( loved the cheese boat demonstration at one venue!) David has a good knowledge of N.Y. history kept our group intently listening and engaged. Part 2 of this tour walked up to Central Park and strawberry Fields and more. We made new friends , Loved everything about the tour and we'd all go back to take David's tour in a New York Heart Beat.
My wife and I took the Hell's Kitchen Food and Central Park Stroll with David Turk. The food selected for the tour was outrageously delicious. In five or six stops we experienced a broad range of delights from this gastronomically rich part of Manhattan. The Cheese Boat from the country of Georgia, the fourth stop on the tour, sounds like a joke, but we've never tasted anything more scrumptious. Think pizza to the power of 10. The stroll through Central Park after the food part of the tour was all that saved us from having to hibernate for the winter after all that food. Dave's love for that oasis in the heart of the city was evident. Even though we'd visited the park many times, we learned new and interesting facts. The skill Manhattan Walking Tour demonstrated selecting Dave for the tour was even more impressive. Dave took the trouble when we met to learn about us. Then he generously shared his extensive knowledge of the area with us, tailoring it to our particular interests in culture, history, architecture and, even geology. No Schist! Before writing this I noodled around the Internet and discovered a bit about Dave's background as an entrepreneur, caterer, teacher and coach. He clearly learned his craft and faithfully applies the skills he teaches others to these tours.
We have done many food tours. this was a great one. Cale was a great guide--knowledgable, personable and funny. the food stops were delicious and we learned a lot along the way. definitely recommend!
Alex was an excellent tour guide. He found a great balance between giving us some history about Hell’s Kitchen and answering our other questions and general conversation. The food was delicious, especially the Cheese Boat and the Roti! The walk through Central Park was also a nice way to relax after eating too much.
The tour was a great way to experience Hell’s Kitchen and learn more about the history of the area. Our guide, Claire, was wonderful at weaving historical stories into the walking tour, stopping and starting with the restaurant stops along the way. Our walking tour through Central Park exposed us to much more than just a stroll through a beautiful place. Claire provided great information on the history of the park along with a locals perspective. She was kind enough to give us directions on how to use the subway to get back to our hotel which was a fun experience to cap off the day. Don’t hesitate to book this tour if you have an afternoon to enjoy the city.
Alex was very friendly, accomodating, sociable and knowledgeable. Also very entertaining! Loved our experience. We found out a lot about the history and places to eat in New York.
We had a marvelous time with Alex learning about Hell's Kitchen. He was entertaining, knowledgeable, flexible and fun. I would definitely book another tour with him next time I'm in the city. I learned so much and will never view the area the same way again.
Great tour and amazing food! Cale was a great tour guide with tons of knowledge!, and if he didn’t know an answer, he would find out!
We had the best time doing a tours of Hell’s Kitchen. The food was amazing, we were told to come hungry, and it did not disappoint. They even catered for the food intolerances in the group which meant no-one missed out as we went around. Alex was a fantastic guide and his passion for the history of the area really made the tour special.
My friend and I are New Yorkers and enjoy exploring the city as if we have never been here before. Our tour guide Claire was fantastic, she provided fabulous fun histories and neighborhood folklore while taking us to several yummy restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. The tour also included several highlights of Central Park. I was raised in Manhattan and still learned things about the Park I never knew!
Our tour was the shorter 2.5 hr Hell’s Kitchen Food Tour only (no Central Park stroll). Our guide Claire was wonderfully fun and extremely knowledgeable in both the history of Hell’s Kitchen as well as the family background and story of the establishments we visited. Great small places that we would probably never have thought to visit on our own with delicious food and the true experience of the diversity of Hell’s Kitchen. Highly recommended.
Claire was a great historian. She was energetic and informative. This was more of a history tour than a food tour. I don’t feel the 5 stops were worth the money as they were shared appetizers. I’ve done food tours before this was not as expected. Again our guide was great but I would have liked a more variety of food.
This was an amazing tour with great food, interesting explanations around the history of hells kitchen and our guide Jake was superb.
Excellent food and lots of history explained in a very conversational way. Enjoyed the experience. Jonathan is in New Yorker and knew a lot of back stories.
Me and my sister had such a great time eating good food and receiving a fun history lesson. I always go on these tours because I love to hear the details of what I’m looking at and why it’s important. Claire definitely delivered on that and had such amazing stories to share. It was great learning about that side of NYC through her eyes. Would definitely recommend to everyone visiting!
We recently took this tour and found it to be excellent in every way. Our guide, Jonathan, did a fantastic job. We learned so much about the history of not only Hells Kitchen, but also New York, during the food tour portion. Then, we toured a large amount of Central Park and learned quite a bit about its history. Highly recommend!
Tim was an excellent guide on our Food Tour. He provided engaging stories, fun local history and shared interesting food (Georgian khachapuri does not come from Atlanta). Thanks Tim.
My wife and I and our two sons (18 & 20) did this tour on the first day of our NYC trip and it was a great start to our trip. Our guide Jake was great - informative, entertaining and fun - and we had some great food along the way.
Jake is amazing. So much energy — he loves what he does! We learned a lot, and we are from NY! And Hell’s Kitchen restaurants were terrific. Highly recommend this tour. The Central Park stroll was a nice way to end the day.
This was the perfect start to our trip! Dave was full of knowledge (present and past) and also provided helpful tips and recommendations for the remainder if our stay in NY. All the food was wonderful and very fulfilling!
This is one of the best food tours I have ever been on and I love to take food tours. Claire not only made the tour very informative but also hilarious. Starting with the Japanese BBQ the food was amazing. I can’t pick a best stop because they were all top notch. Great food great variety and wonderful service.
Claire was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable and made the tour so informative but not over the top. The restaurants in Hells Kitchen were delicious. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the tour and if you are lucky enough to have Claire as your guide it will be even better.
Claire was outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly. A great tour from a good perspective as well. Great way to experience Hell’s Kitchen!
Alex was very friendly and a great story teller. Other guests were interesting. Great food - great group! The tour was well paced which was important in the NYC heat.
Claire was a great guide, enthusiastic and overflowing with interesting stories. Hells Kitchen was a new neighborhood for us and is worth visiting for any NYC tourist who wants some delicious eating and the history of life in the city featuring this neighborhood. We would suggest doing this itinerary in reverse order with the Japanese BBQ and delicious cookies at the end.
This tour was a great combination of food, tasting and exploration of central Park. Alex was a wealth of information and threaded an entire neighborhoods, history and stories that were memorable, exciting and fun. Was great, really felt we got a feel for the neighborhood and the Exploration of the park was a bonus. Alex even helped us get back on the subway!
Jake from State Farm is a storyteller, part-time actor, and part-time guide who knows the ins and outs of the intricacies of what it's like to be living in NYC and a struggling actor who is trying to make it in the big city. We had a great tour of Hell's Kitchen, starting with Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, Cookies from Schmachery cookies, Cheese boat from Cheeseboat, Meatballs from Meatball, and others. The food was great and the storytelling was even better. We finished off with a private tour of Central Park, there was so much backstory to the statues and monuments that we would have never known about. Thanks, Manhattan Tours.
Jake was very friendly. He was knowledgeable about Hell’s Kitchen and Central Park. Would recommend taking this tour
