Itinerary
Strange shades running by late at night...a ghost dog...the spirit of one of America's great people of letters...spectral insurrectionists...and then, of course, there are the very real bodies still buried here...
Though it's now an academic building at NYU, restless spirits seem to still inhabit the site of one of our nation's worst industrial disasters over a century ago...
This notoriously haunted building is apparently home not only to the spirit of Mark Twain, but at one time played host to malevolent spirits, responsible for 27 deaths...or more...
...we visit 13 haunted locations in all, but we can't list them here—then you won't be surprised!

it was very interesting and awesome easy to walk tour!
I've done many of these tours, but my first with a truly professional actor. He did a great job; very enjoyable.
Great Guide- VERY entertaining!
Fantastic history/ghost tour for Manhattan! Even with a larger group our guide was still able to include everyone in some way.
Funny, informative, and a unique way to explore the city!
The tour guide was very informative and really nice. Very entertaining and I would a 1,000 % do it again.
The guide was very informative and a great actor . Gave us a full 90 minute tour covering many locales . A fun experience .
Prof. Henry Clerval did a great job. Very camp, but it's New York.
Experience: Spooky and fun without being scary! There was a great mix of ghost stories and history-made-fun, and our “Professor” guide was awesome—funny, knowledgeable, engaging, and kind. He really brought the stories and history of Greenwich Village to life. Admission fee: Very reasonably priced for 90 minutes of entertainment. I felt we got a lot for the price. Length of visit: About 90 minutes, which was just right—long enough to be entertaining without feeling like too much walking. Atmosphere: Fun, relaxed, and appropriately spooky. The tour had a great atmosphere without being frightening. Crowd size: Our group was small, which made it easy to hear the guide and stay together throughout the tour. Staff: The “Professor” was fantastic! He was an excellent teacher and storyteller, and his humor and kindness made the experience especially enjoyable. Best for: Adults, families, and older kids. The walk was easy and manageable for any age, and although our group was all adults, I think older kids would really enjoy it too.
We had such a great time on the Haunted Tour of Greenwich Village! It ended up being just the two of us on the tour, but our guide was absolutely wonderful and still gave us the full experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made all of the stories really interesting and fun to listen to. We learned so much about the history of Greenwich Village along with some of the darker and more haunted stories connected to the area. We really appreciated that even with such a small group, our guide never made the tour feel rushed or awkward. It honestly felt like we were getting our own private tour! It was such a fun way to explore Greenwich Village and see a different side of New York City. Definitely recommend it, especially if you enjoy history, ghost stories, or anything a little spooky!
It was a great time! Our tour leader was fun, engaging, and knowledgeable.
What a fabulous evening! The Professor is entertaining and super knowledgeable about the history of New York. He spoke of historical figures who spent time in this part of the city - and perhaps never left. I recommend this tour highly for tourists and locals alike!
The Bartender (believe her name was Charlie), was absolutely awesome! The tour was fun and very informative. The Bartender keeps you engaged and she really enjoys what she does. Highly recommended for people looking to do something a little different and learn some NYC history.
We had lots of fun, I especially enjoyed the historical side of the stories! Or guide was engaging and entertaining!
My tour with Professor Clerval on Tuesday night was enjoyable, fun, lively, spooky and just the right length of walking! Our guide was hilarious, and showed us some really cool sights in Greenwich Village. He had a lot of very silly/funny jokes, and involved the crowd in really great and innovative ways throughout - especially the teens on the tour. Highly recommend this for folks of most ages (some of it may be a lil too spooky for the younger set). What a lovely and charming way to spend an evening in the city!!
So much fun, so fun for spooky season, lighthearted but history was accurate! We had the best time. We went with friends and family, not too scary for all ages.
The professor was engaging, entertaining and edifying—an enjoyable, lovely night all around! This is a highly recommended tour.
Great tour with history, poems, famous buildings, and supernatural stories told by a well spoken and wonderfully interesting tour guide.
I went with my Boyfriend as a nice way to close off our two-year anniversary, and we had a great time! Professor Henry Clerval was phenomenal; he was very informative and added the proper flair when needed, but also took the proper time to give harder stories their place. It wasn't too long, I almost wish it had gone on for longer! There was no standing for super long periods of time, or walking for a super long time so my chronic illness baddies would like this one! 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for a fun night, NYC native or not! :)
It was a great tour! The tour was super fun and interesting and our tour guide was really knowledgeable while also being super entertaining.
We had the best time with Prof. Henry Clerval! He was such a fun mix of history and spookiness, and you can’t beat walking around Greenwich Village on an October night. Can’t recommend enough!!
The ghost tour was fun and very interesting the guide was excellent very good at entertaining and explaining. Loved the history side as we’ll ghostly side
We had a great time ! The tour guide was knowledgeable and had a theatrical flair. The locations were spooky yet while the overall tour still feeling very safe.
Professor Clerval was entertaining and knowledgeable about the area ghosts and their history! I would definitely recommend.
Henry was the absolute man! So fun to go with him across Greenwich and learn all about the area. There are tons of crazy stories.
Thw tour was very informative and a great time. Lots of history ans fun stories about many different places! Great guide!
Professor was absolutely amaxing, he brought so much fun to a creepy thing. I loved how he interweaved stories with research. Absolutely would love to take the other tours next time we are in town!
We had a really good evening with Prof Clerval on the Haunted Manhattan tour. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the area, not only did we have an insight into the hauntings, we also learned a lot about the history of the area. Highly recommended.
I loved the tour. The guide was amazing! He did a bit of totally appropriate and called for theatric act. I went with a teenager and she loved it too.
Excellent tour! Full of great stories and history. Just the right amount of walking. We felt as though we went back in time. While we saw no ghosts, there was definitely the presence of spirits. The Professor was knowledgeable and very entertaining. I would definitely do another of his tours!
Professor Henry Clerval met us promptly and guided us through the street of Greenwich Village and back through the alleys of times past. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a dose of history with a pinch of spooky. Even in the heat wave, the Professor was cool.
It was awesome! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and also just interested in our lives while we walked around. It was a really fun way to see the city. It was also raining and thundering when we went and that was a plus
Fun night walking around the Village with my young teen and tween daughters in a small tour group. We stopped at many historic buildings and heard about the dead people who still frequent the establishments. Probably could have left a few stops off that were less exciting architecturally or historically significant and with minor ghost stories. Loved the triangle Shirtwaist Factory stop. Can’t believe NYU uses it for classes! The girls enjoyed it and they are a tough audience! Well done. He made us laugh, it was a nice night. Lasted about 2 hours.
The professor was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot about NYC.
Our guide, Professor Clerval, made this such a fun trip for all of us. The meeting spot was easy to find,; the stories were presented in a lively, entertaining fashion; the pace was relaxed. A great way to see a part of the city you might not otherwise visit and to learn some of its history. The Professor also did a great job of engaging the youngest ones of the group by learning their names and by asking them questions and to share their stories. That doesn’t always happen with tour guides but very smart of him because if the kids are happy the rest of the crowd is happy!
I did this with my 15 year old daughter. It was a lot of fun, entertaining, insightful and educational. We learned a lot of history coupled with spooky stories. Professor Clerval was fantastic. I’m glad we did this.
Professor Henry was very informative and knowledgeable and kept us entertained throughout the whole tour. Plenty of historical references along side the stories and laughs all the way
Professor Henry was very informative and entertaining with plenty of historical background included with the stories.
We had a great time on our tour this evening with Professor Henry Clerval. The professor was a great guid with lots of stories, knowledge and humor. We took our cousin on her holiday visit and she loved it! It’s great activity for visiting friends and family.

Professor C was fantastic!! He was funny, and entertaining!! Would totally do it again!! Anyone looking for a cool NYC experience, should do this tour!
What a great experience! My sister and I are New Yorkers and we wanted to learn more about the history of NYC and this was a great way to do it! Highly recommend!!
Had an absolute blast on this tour! The Professor was a perfect guide! His stories really came to life and he was both knowledgeable and funny! Great historical knowledge and a grand storyteller! From the Poe stories to Death House just purely entertaining! Would surely recommend this tour and guide to all!
It was a nice trip with horrible stories! The tutor was informative and dramatic, making the entire journey so immersive and fun.
We had an incredible tour with Professor Clerval! He has mastered the blend of information and theatrics, and we were thoroughly entertained the entire time. Highly recommend this company and tour! On our next trip to NYC, we will for sure try out one of their other tours.
We had a tour with Professor Clerval and had a great time! We toured the area of Greenwich Village near NYU and learned many things about the history of the area. Professor Clerval was very engaging and experienced. A fun night for all!
Great tour guide! Was super engaging, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our tour was 1.5 hours and the time flew by. Definitely recommend!
I attended with a group of friends for my birthday. We learned a lot, felt the spooky vibes, and had a blast. We had a smaller more intimate group versus some of the very large other tours that passed us by from other companies. Very happy we chose Haunted Manhattan and look forward to booking and other tour. The Professor was a fantastic guide and his character elevated the tour.
This tour was sooooo good. Professor Clerval was fun and informative. He was charismatic and funny. We so enjoyed all of the included stops and information.
