East Village Haunted Manhattan Tour

Our guide was friendly, funny, enthusiastic and knowledgeable- a great experience!

We had a great tour with Charlie (sidenote: hi Charlie's mom!). Our experience was really fun and Charlie was knowledgeable and a very engaging storyteller.

Quite a captivating tour. Charlie, our tour guide, was incredible... the stories were not just told to us... they were experienced. What great storytelling. Charlie really brought each location's ghostly tales to life. The walking was easy to do and a lot is packed into a small geographic area. A great history lesson as well as a spooky peek into the East Village. A gem of a tour. And for a bonus, Charlie can point out great places to go afterward. Just be prepared for normal NYC nightlife noise levels to happen around you. Consider it a great juxtaposition of life and death in NYC. Highly recommend!

William was animated and delightful. William went out of their way to show us which subway train to take so that we didn’t get lost again.

Charlie was an awesome tour guide for our Haunted Manhattan East Village tour. We had two young teens on our tour who were entertained the whole time and never acted bored. Huge win! The stories were interesting and it made me want to go back and visit all these places again when they’re open.

Charlie was a phenomenal guide, can’t recommend them enough! Charlie had a great sense of humor, knew a ton of history, and had some really spooky stories. They were clearly very familiar with the area — all the different buildings and restaurants, which is very much appreciated when you feel like your being shown around by a local. They also shared a ton of recommendations which we can’t wait to try out!

We had our first Haunted Manhattan tour with the Professor in early August 2024, and it won’t be our last. Despite the drizzle, it was a beautiful night, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely! The Professor was super fun, and kept us both entertained and educated the whole time. We absolutely recommend the Haunted Manhattan tours, especially if you’re looking for something a little different that gets you exploring those parts of NYC that might be a little lesser known. Charlie was an amazing guide!! They were hilarious and theatrical with every stop. They even gave some great brunch recs related to them lol! And surprisingly (something I’ve never seen before) they gave a bit of a warning around stories containing sensitive topics. It was subtle but really stood out to me as something that didn’t cheapen ghost stories with violence.

Absolutely amazing experience. Charley was our tour guide and kept the air light with jokes despite the spooky stories at each location! Highly recommend. 10/10

We LOVED our tour guide and the tour of East Village! We actually live in the EV and wanted to learn more about the spookier history of our neighborhood and this tour did NOT disappoint. Our guide was wonderful and we learned SO much about the neighborhood and its history. Our youngest family member was 7 and he was captivated too. A great and memorable family outing!

Our tour guide was wonderful, the tour itself was just kind of boring. But it was a good way to see non-tourist parts of the city.

Frankie is a CHARACTER. We took this tour on our last night in NYC. We were exhausted and it was raining pretty hard, but our tour guide's incredible showmanship and wit made us forget to whine. Would absolutely hit another of these tours on a future trip. But if you are undecided on which tour, I really don't think you can do better than Frankie.

It was a nice change from the normal site seeing activities. My 12 & 23 yo grandkids enjoyed it. Frankie was informative, funny & remembered everyone’s name. We learned some NYC history in an area that I’d never visited before.

We had an AMAZING time walking the streets with Frankie, listening to her stories of the unexplained. She was informative, interesting and so much fun to walk with. We did all the touristy stops during our weekend in New York, but this tour made it extra special with lots of great stories and photos to bring home. Thanks, Frankie!

Frankie was the absolute BEST tour guide. She engaged us in a fun way and also memorized all of our names and pulled us into the stories. We were a bachelorette group with some ghost nerds and some folks who don't love them as much as I (the Bride) do and everyone raved about how good she was after! Will definitely recommend again. We had a super great experience with Frankie! We booked a tour with my friend and eventually we were the only ones so we had a private tour. We are french and as my friend didn’t really understand English, I had the time to translate almost everything. Frankie was very patient. Thanks a lot!!

Came to New York with my daughter to celebrate her 18th birthday and found this Haunted Manhattan tour of the East Village to be a great addition to our trip. Since the night started with rain, we were given an option to cancel or reschedule. Being from the desert, we enjoyed the rain and it added a lovely element to the city. We ended up having Frankie the tour guide all to ourselves since the rest of the guest must not have not been rain fans. Frankie was amazing as a guide! She was incredibly funny and knowledgeable with just a bit of terrifying and crazy!! It Cracks me up that no one on the street even looked twice every time Frankie screamed something out loud. New Yorkers!! Lots of scariness, history and whimsy to keep both a teenager and and older person both interested and delighted. Highly recommend this tour!

This tour seemed a little too based on anecdotes rather than actual history. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but gave it a shot at least.

What part did I like the most? All of it!!! Frankie was absolutely professional and informative. The other guests didn't show, so I was offered a refund, a reschedule or a private tour. There was not another option for reschedule since I was leaving town in the following days, and I had so looked forward to this tour, so I chose to go on ahead with it. I was amazed! She treated the tour just as if she had a full audience. She didn't leave anything out. I learned so much history along with some spooky stories. One of the best tours I have taken in the city.

She brought so much energy and character to the experience - It was just outstanding! The time flew, we wish we could have spent all night with her, roaming the NYC streets, learning a lot of history and hearing ghost stories that only long-time neighborhood locals normally know. Had a terrific experience. Loved the tour. Our tour guide was excellent. She really put the experience over the top. Not only was she a great story teller but she was very funny and extremely personable. I think she could have found a way to make any subject fun and interesting.

Our tour guide Frankie was absolutely Phenomenal. The tour was filled with scary stories and some great historical facts. My daughter (14 yrs) and cousin (13 yrs old) really enjoyed the tour too. I definitely will recommend to my NYC friends ☺

I really enjoyed the haunted tour of Manhattan this past weekend. Frankie was an awesome tour guide. She is a great storyteller. I loved walking around and learning about different sites. The ghost tour gives you different lore than a traditional tour. I loved learning new things about the city and having a good time in the process. Would highly recommend.

Me and my sister joined a tour with Frankie on Saturday night. The booking process and communication before the tour was great. It was clear where we should meet etc. The tour itself was informative and interactive. It is hard to be scary in a city that is so busy but the stories were very intriguing and left you to decide for yourself if you believed the situation was supernatural! We did the tour on our last night but I would recommend doing it early in your stay so you can revisit some of the haunted sites. I enjoyed the history as much as the ghost stories.

Frankie was such a wonderful guide! So animated, funny, passionate about the subject matter and super friendly. The tour itself was a great experience for both the believer and the skeptic. The ghost stories were cool and the history of the area was great to hear. Perfect start to an NYC weekend and a perfect intro to the area.

I have done many ghost tours and usually love them . Unfortunately this one simply fell short. The guide was enthusiastic but it was not spooky or scary. It involved walking around crowded streets and looking at fronts of some buildings. You did not go inside anyplace or really see much. I am surprised the reviews were so good.

Thank You Frankie made it come alive. We double backed to some of the sites to have a drink to then the night.

A few evenings ago, I took my family on the ghost tour. Not knowing what to expect the hosts Frankie was very professional and always engaging with the group. Her knowledge for history and the area was fantastic. And yes I did have a few hair raising moments. Thank you again. Kerv

Native New Yorker, here! I went on Frankie's tour of the East Village and it was a good time. Frankie is amicable, passionate about her subject, and has a collection of great stories to tell. My only critique would be that there be less interaction with each of the participants on the tour and more info on the sites / more sites in general. At times I felt like too much time was being spent getting to know the folks on the tour and engaging them conversationally, which in turn felt like the actual stops on the tour were few. All and all, though, highly recommend!

We had a great time on our tour with The Professor!! He made it interesting and spooky. I was a fan of both the historical facts and the puns and I had either a smile or shock on my face the whole time. I highly recommend this tour.

We do Haunted/Ghost Walks in every city we visit as it is a different way to discover a city and its history. We did the East Village tour with Frankie. She is, by far, the most entertaining ghost tour guide we had, ever. The tour in itself is fun for the entire family. We have one teenager that does not particularly like ghost tours, but despite this, she was truly entertained by this one, because of Frankie’s engagement. Kudos to all the team at Haunted Manhattan!
