It is a great experience. Our tour guide was amazing. Brooklyn is a big borough, with lots of history. Our tour guide took us to as many neighborhoods that fit into sour 4 hour tour. We learned a lot of history, experienced all of the different neighborhoods, met interesting people and got all experiences. I highly recommend this tour. i would do it again, as it was just so much fun.

Had a private tour with Jeff who really showed me Brooklyn far beyond the tourist tracks! Had an amazing day - thanks a lot Jeff!!
This was a full day of riding in which we got to explore the whole of Brooklyn. Dene really knew Brooklyn and shared this knowledge with us.
Jeff was an amazing guide! He was fun, knowledgeable, and very down to earth. He made sure we were comfortable with the pace at all times. The stops we made were extremely fun and we had plenty of opportunity for pictures. Felt safe the entire time too. Highly recommend! It was so cool to see different parks and neighborhoods. We will be back for sure!
We had a tour with Deen, and it couldn't have been better. He's relaxed, knowledgeable, competant and a joy to be around! Will definitely recommend to friends.
Overall I had a blast. Had a 1:1 bike tour with Ben, who tailored the tour to my preferences. See more stuff, as I'm not too much of a history buff. We managed to tour almost all of the planned neighborhoods (maybe 18?), which is exactly what I wanted to see. It was a long, lovely 5+ hours of biking with a good pace and nice biking challenges (super touristy areas, lots of curbs and potholes and traffic). We had lunch at a Hasidic Jewish place as I requested. I finished exhausted and happy.
Holden was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable of the history and areas of Brooklyn. He took an interest in each of the tour participants and was very engaged with everyone. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in Brooklyn history and also if you enjoy biking.
That was such a fun tour, with a fascinating, knowledgable, eloquent, and relaxed guide. Time flew by. It felt almost like a personal tour by an aquaintance. I got to know a lot of interesting end entertaining things I otherwise wouldn't have. In my view one can hardly spend time in NYC (Brooklyn) more satisfying than with this tour. (Martin)
One of a kind must have experience. Lots n lots of history. An Architecture marvel. Families have lots of wonderful picture opportunities for them also.
Having never been to NewYork before, I figure a bike tour would be a great way to see Brooklyn. I had an absolutely amazing day and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. Cannot recommend enough!!
You can't go wrong with this bike tour. Simply fantastic! Frank was our guide and we covered a lot of ground throughout Brooklyn. Very knowledgeable about the history of Brooklyn and we had a great time. The bikes they use our top end. Smooth gearing and strong brakes. Money well spent for sure. Thanks to Frank and John!!
A very nice bike ride through Brooklyn, hosted by a Brooklyn enthusiast. It shows you some beautiful and interesting parts of Brooklyn and American history.
Very good tour. Frank was very interesting, personable and knowledgeable. Went to many parts of Brooklyn and it was very safe. Highly recommend!
This tour was a fun way to see Brooklyn with a knowledgeable guide. John our tour guide was interesting and had a great love of Brooklyn. The bikes were high quality.
Seth was our bike leader - we are a family of four with 2 teenagers. He catered the cycle around things we wanted to see. We absolutely loved it and can highly recommend! He is knowledgeable, funny and kind ! We all thought he was a legend ! We loved every minute ! We really feel we got to know New York and Brooklyn in a way you don’t on foot or a bus ! Best of luck Seth From Frances , david , matthew and Louise
Excellent enjoyable tour of Brooklyn. The day flew by. Our tour guide Seth was funny and informative. Recommended for tourists of any age!
I really enjoyed the tour. We did 16 miles this day. And visited many places in Brooklyn. Ate some pizza and drank some beer :)
I have been to New York City many times and taken countless of tours (walking, biking, hiking, bus, etc) in NYC and all around the world. This tour was hands down one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. John was a giant ball of knowledge, fun facts and humor. He entertained our group which was ridiculous (typsy) at times and changed up the tour as we went, tailoring to our interests. From all of the main sites of Brooklyn to off the beaten paths, this was very memoriable experience for us. A must do even if you think you know everything about Brooklyn!
Our guide was very knowledgeable. Particularly loved Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo. Tour takes about 2-3 hours. Worth every minute!
Great way to get a feel for Brooklyn, its present and its past. Seth was a very engaging and knowledgeable guide with good humour, interesting stories about Brooklyn and New York. Strongly recommended for everyone that wants to visit a fascinating part of New York in a sporty way.
John made this a wonderful day in his hometown for us. He shaped our tour individually when he noticed that we were able to follow him quicker than other (bigger) groups - we had the luck that we were only three. That way we saw even more than in the already full tour. John was very knowledgeable and on the other hand encouraged us to ask questions which he was able to answer in quite some detail. We loved this experience and will come back to get to know other parts of NYC with John’s Brooklyn Giro Bicycle Tours.
Excellent bike tour of Brooklyn. Our guide Tom was a responsible, enthusiastic, friendly, highly informed guide. We saw and learned an enormous amount about Brooklyn. Great stories, anecdotes, descriptions. Lots of history & cultural/political/socioeconomic context. And this despite the fact that our very full tour only covered some 25% or less of the borough! Travelers will go home with a head full of memories & impressions. Great food along the way. All things considered (a busy urban area on a Halloween weekend), our guide kept us safe throughout. We mostly stayed in bike lanes throughout, which lessened the risk considerably.
My husband and I always try to do a bike tour in a new place when we travel. We found this tour when we searched Trip Advisor. We are avid cyclists and were extremely pleased with the quality of our bikes. John had an encyclopedic knowledge of the area and took us to places where he doesn’t usually take groups. We were a very small and experienced group and John knew we could handle it. It’s great how he is able to tailor his tours individually. We stopped for a pizza lunch and had happy hour on the water afterwards. John saved us a boatload of money, by having us take the ferry back, instead of our planned ride share. “Best tour guide in the best city in the world!” Thanks, John, for a great time!
Super fun tour of various parks, bridges and landmarks. Easy and accommodating. Going over bridge was cool.
We try to take a bike ride when we travel to a new place. Having never been to Brooklyn, we were excited to explore its highlights by bike. We had a great day on bikes in Brooklyn with John. He was a great guide and showed us Brooklyn in a way you won’t see it on your own. Our tour included a stop for pizza and a stop for drinks too! John is very accommodating and adjusts the route to meet your desires and tastes.
We did this trip today and had a wonderful time! Not expecting such a thorough and informative tour and pleasantly surprised. I was nervous about biking in traffic, and was glad to see the bike lanes in place - very progressive! I always felt safe and in good hands. Our tour guide was well informed and tailored the ride to our interest and abilities, with welcomed rest stops as it was very hot. I would highly recommend this tour and look forward to future adventures.
Excellent 5 hours spent with John on this Brooklyn Bike Tour. It is definitely the one thing to do, allowing me to see, feel and even taste the better part of Brooklyn, i.e on a bike with a fun, good and knowledgable fella like John. I highly recommend this bike tour to anyone visiting New York. Well done John.
The tour was a nice ride through Brooklyn. Tour guide John was very knowledgeable about the history of Brooklyn. I recommend Brooklyn Giro bike tours if you want to see some places that you never seen before. We stopped at a nice place to eat pizza. We stopped at another place for drinks.
This was a great, and easy, 20 mile Brooklyn Bike tour. The guide is super well-versed in the area and keyed off our conversations to customize the tour, such as taking me to a delicious pizza place, down to the river, and a couple other places that would be meaningful to me. I will definitely do the other Brooklyn tours when I return.
If I could give this tour 6 stars, I would! John is the ultimate Brooklyn tour guide; he is passionate about the many neighborhoods, passionate about biking, and is constantly making you laugh with his anecdotes. John took us through many neighborhoods to main attractions and off the beaten path; he has a deep understanding of the architecture and history of all of the places we went and shares his knowledge in a fun way that isn’t formulaic. John left us with many recommendations and ideas of what to do when we come back to visit. As stated in other reviews, John tailors each tour to the crowd to ensure the best experience. I will definitely be doing John’s water front ride down to Coney Island next time I visit! If you are on the fence about this tour, I encourage you to take the dive; you will have a blast and see and learn things that would be impossible without a local.
I highly recommend Brooklyn Giro Bike Tours. My 19yr old son and I wanted to see and explore Brooklyn, and the Brooklyn Bike Tour was a perfect way to do it. Our tour guide John was great. First, he knows all the roads and neighborhoods, and made it easy for our group to travel through on bikes. Second, he has a passion for the history of Brooklyn and described how the different areas of Brooklyn developed into what they are today. His story-telling about the history was a great compliment to the biking and sight-seeing. Finally, John was great at customizing our trip as we went based on the group's interests. I'm sure no two tours will be exactly the same, and I think that is great. Highly recommend.
I live in Brooklyn and since my mom was visiting we took her on this full day Brooklyn bike tour. I didn’t know any of the things John told us, it gave me a new perspective on my own city! Since our group was small, John gave us a very customized tour and took us to really cool places and showed us things that were hiding in plain site! In this 5 hour, 30 mile tour (it doesn’t have to be so long if you don’t want it to be) we got to see so many different BK neighborhoods, learn about the history of street names, battles that took place, cultural attractions- I fell in love with this city again! Also, it was a great workout and my mom loved it. Great bikes and fun company - would absolutely book with John again!
John was so amazing. He customised our trip to suit us and he was so knowledgeable about everywhere we went. Would recommend this to anyone.
Very interesting tour. Thanks to Bryan for all the good tipps/hints and the interesting backround of brooklyn and its history.
Exploring Brooklyn on a bike was awesome. Our guide John lead our way through this amazing area of New York and showed us places we would never have found on our own.
We did the half day Brooklyn tour with John and it was amazing! We saw lots of South Brooklyn neighbourhoods, learnt about Brooklyn, New York and American history and finished up in Williamsburg and the Brooklyn Naval yards. John was a fabulous guide who looked after us really well and our bikes were fantastic (new, light and well looked after) - couldn’t recommend this tour more highly!
We've taken TWO tours with Brooklyn Giro Bicycle Tours, the Brooklyn tour and the 5 hr Manhattan tour, and both were fabulous. The bikes are high quality, groups are small, and the tour guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. There's no better way to see NY than on a bike, and these guys got it all handled. Highly recommend!
Had a marvellous day for a bike ride. John was a great guide, I enjoyed the small group and even though Brooklyn is a big city it is well set up for cycling. Was the best way to cover a lot of ground and experience Brooklyn in a day.
Thank you very much Brian for the tour in Brooklyn. Brian did share a lot of details and information about places, history and about his experience in NY City. We had a great time there and enjoyed the chocolate and lime pie tasting! We also felt very safe all along the tour riding in the traffic or in bike lanes. Really amazing... to do it for sure!
I grew up and live 16 miles from Manhattan. I frequently go to the "City" and know Manhattan well. Before today, I didn't know much about Brooklyn, save for Peter Lugers and Altantic Ave's Lebanese restaurants. Our tour was outstanding. My family (my wife, a 20 yo daughter, 17 yo son and 16 yo nephew) and I learned so much. We simply had an amazing day. Finally, I have a feel for Brooklyn and its neighborhoods, whose names I knew from friends and TV shows. James was a fantastic guide. He was enthusiastic, personable and knowledgeable. My family and I recommend this tour and James extremely highly, even for those from the NYC area. And the Brooklyn pizza was a good as anything in Essex County, and that's saying something.
We had a great day cycling around Brooklyn over the 4th of July weekend. The proprietor was very helpful and worked with us to format a ride that met our needs. Mathew, our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. This was our first trip to Brooklyn and by the end of the tour we learned about the history, architecture and beauty of the various Brooklyn neighborhoods. Plus we had a chance to see it all up-close on a bike which is so much more enjoyable and efficient than walking or trying to find parking. Can’t wait to try the Brooklyn and beer tour next time.
This was the worst tour we have ever been on as a family. Here’s my laundry list of complaints - family of five looking for a fun outing . Guide started over 30 mins late. When we showed up we were told he was doing a documentary. What? It was more about him than the safety and enjoyment of our tour. My youngest son fell and he had no clue we had stopped to take care of him. He honestly was so vague about what he was talking about - did not learn a thing. I asked if we could stop to get water and he said next stop ( this was 1 hr 1/2 into tour) . We went bye so many food carts it was ridiculous. We had no clue where he was going. The stops he told us we only made 3. He had four underage kids on his tour and two stops were alcohol related. Towards the end he would just get on his bike and ride away. Seriously the list goes on. We got caught behind cars and or traffic lights and could not find him. Our family has done many of tours from walking , biking etc in Nyc and other major cities. This guide was not a tour guide and not a good fit for taking families around. I’d tell you his name but I had no clue. To us he was the bearded jerk.
John and his team were simply awesome Relaxed professional and so knowledgeable We felt very safe riding around and John even bought us a cocktail after our 25 mile ride!! We will be back Thanks John and Matt Rick and Karen
I had the most wonderful day in Brooklyn, the best way to know all in one day is this fantastic tour, visiting places I would never go by myself. Excelent information about the city and its people. Thank you John for a wonderful day in Brooklyn!!
Fantastic day all round. The tour leader adjusted our route to suit our needs and couldn’t of been more helpful. Amazing sites seen throughout the tour with some really good info provided from tour leader. Quite tiring towards the end but well worth it and now I can enjoy a huge steak meal because I’ve earned it!! Highly recommended.
After numerous trips to NY without any sightseeing outside of Manhattan I thought it was time to get out and explore the outer boroughs. Brooklyn is a city with a diverse population and an interesting history and seemed a good place to spend a few hours on a Friday. We rocked up to Brooklyn Giro Bicycle Tours on John St in Brooklyn. We got fully kitted out with helmets etc and were able to choose from a good selection of bicycles. Hillary was our guide for the day. From Dumbo to Red Hook and everything in between we got a good description of the history and current make-ups of the various different neighbourhoods. We got to see all the various different landmarks and notable buildings with a few stories to add flavour. I would say a moderate level of fitness is required as there is good amount of mileage involved. You would need to be comfortable cycling alongside traffic and on the streets as that is where the majority of the tour is located. Overall we were very happy with the tour and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who is looking to get off the beaten track when it comes to NY sightseeing.
This tour was a great intro into the other NYC! We saw the streets of Brooklyn on well protected bike lanes with our informative guide into historic Brownstone, the waterfront and up and coming industries coming to the area. The bikes where comfortable, we had an easy ride with minimal uphill climbs and led safely in and out of minimal traffic. It was one of the highlights of our NYC visit.
We booked a full day tour in Brooklyn, Williamsburg & Greenpoint. Brian was the guide and explained a lot about the neighborhoods, history and different religions. It was very interesting and he did it on a relaxed and funny day! During the tour we made stops for coffee (/breakfast), lunch and superb lemon pie :-) Own costs. We also made some stops for chocolate, whisky and beer tastings (included). Start and end point are nearby a metrostop. For the day tour you need to have a good stamina because it's going both down and uphill.
John guided us perfectly through Brooklyn and showed us so nice and different places. We as a small group of 3 had a very nice day and took home great impressions from this tour and NYC.
We were the only 2 people on the tour, but Brian really showed us around and knew a lot about Brooklyn. The 25 mile route was a little bit of a stretch for me, a woman of a certain age. I think I would the half day tour next time. Bikes were new and well maintained. Some busy traffic times, so I would not recommend unless you are very comfortable on a bike. As we had a plane to catch afterwards, they graciously let us store our luggage in their shop until the end of the tour.
