The rooms were fine in our part of the hotel but we heard mixed reviews from friends in other parts. The service was horrendous, and blatantly disregarded our party’s reservation for a welcome party for a wedding. The space is overdeveloped and under maintained and honestly just gauche. It lacks basic amenities that a Holiday Inn would have, like a consistent hotel bar and basic fitness center. Overall not worth it.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We specifically booked this property because we wanted to spend the day by the outdoor pool during an extreme heat wave. Nowhere on Google or Expedia does it say that the outdoor pool doesn’t open until 2:00 PM. Had we known that, we never would have booked. When we raised the issue with the manager, instead of apologizing or acknowledging that this information should be disclosed at check-in (or, better yet, on the booking page), she immediately blamed us. Her response was that it wasn’t the hotel’s responsibility because we booked through Expedia and that we “should have asked.” That’s an unbelievable way to treat guests. She then tried to justify everything by insisting that The Mansion at Glen Cove isn’t really a hotel but a “privately owned wedding venue.” When I pointed out that plenty of hotels are privately owned, she actually claimed hotels are chains. Hearing a hotel manager say something so inaccurate while refusing to take any responsibility was honestly shocking. If it’s not a hotel, why is it advertised as a 4-star hotel on Google and sold as a hotel on Expedia? She also claimed the pool only opens at 2:00 PM because there are children around in the morning “for safety.” That explanation made absolutely no sense—children are still around after 2:00 PM. The only alternative offered was the indoor pool, but it was completely unusable. The enclosed pool area was so unbearably hot that it felt like a sauna, and the water itself was extremely warm. We couldn’t stay inside for more than two minutes because of the heat. It honestly felt unsafe, and I have a hard time believing those conditions meet appropriate health or safety standards for an indoor pool. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. The entire property had a strong unpleasant smell, the room’s AC barely worked, leaving us sweating throughout the night, and the beds were only full-size—not queen-size—which made sleeping two adults extremely uncomfortable. Even simple requests were frustrating because multiple staff members seemed confused and couldn’t even provide basic directions around the property. This property is poorly managed, misleadingly advertised, and completely lacking in customer service. The manager’s refusal to take responsibility, her rude and dismissive attitude, and the constant excuses instead of solutions turned what should have been a relaxing stay into an incredibly frustrating experience. We left feeling completely misled. I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
This past Saturday my brother and beautiful sweet sister in law had their wedding at this venue. Everything was questionable from the start which was clear foreshadowing. When we pulled in, there was a snaked line of cars waiting to valet which took forever. Upon entering the venue we were all shocked by the accommodations of cocktail hour. A 200 person wedding had extremely limited seating. People complained in regards to lack of seating and standing areas, and they had to line chairs with their backs along a wall just so people could sit down (they only lined up chairs after complaints). One full hour into cocktail hour did I see waiters setting up tables outside to accommodate standing and not sitting space, despite the rain having stopped hours ago. The line to receive food for cocktail hour was always snaked with so many people and extremely slow and long. The service was slow and dismal. Everybody working lacked interest in doing their job. Towards the end of cocktail hour I finally saw that there was shockingly no line for the first time, and when I presented with my plate, I was told that most of the food finished and would not be replenished, despite there still being designated time for the cocktail hour itself. Next was the biggest shock for my family and I. A family member alerted me that their table ,per the beautifully displayed seating chart, was supposed to have 14 people; yet only had 10 seats and place settings. He alerted available staff of this and instead of amending the situation, they bickered back and forth with him , saying “no, 10 people here only”. I alerted other staff who were useless and I had no choice but to inconvenience the bride and groom to see what the situation was supposed to be. The bride told the bridal attendant and maître d’ that every table was supposed to have 12-14 seats. Instead of fixing the situation, the attendant pulled up an old email from months ago with an old seating chart. My sister in law told her that there was an updated one sent, and that she was reading a dated email a prior sketched / drafted chart . The bridal attendant found the updated email stating that indeed every table should have between 12-14 people. I was bewildered to see that she and the maître d’ just continued to stare into space after this, and take no action. I had to verbally direct them to add four more seats to the table. I actually asked if the staff there was “okay” that day because of the slow stares and lack of action following this. They added the four seats and I was shocked and saddened to find out that 2 more tables had only ten seats and were supposed to seat 13-14 people each. Again; no action was taken despite me telling them, and them seeing people standing confused and waiting to sit. I again had to direct them to add more seats to accommodate the guests for those tables. As I told them, “clearly this is just another annoying day at work for all of you guys, but this is somebody’s WEDDING DAY! Supposed to be one of the most important day of their lives”. Nobody was efficient enough to step up and take responsibility and take action to amend errors. Instead, when things and mistakes were pointed out, staff bickered back and tried to wrongly prove why they thought they were right, not caring that beloved wedding guests are standing , hovering over a full seated table, and embarrassed with no where to sit. While seated for dinner, not once was I or anybody else asked if we would like a drink, if everything was okay, etc. Thankfully the loving guests and entertainment that the bride and groom hired were 10/10 and fixed the vibes; but my brother and his wife did not need these types of situations to occur on their cherished wedding day. Stay far away if you care to have a meaningful event. There are so many beautiful and accommodating venues with wonderful hospitality who care about their clients and brides and grooms.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR HOSTING AN EVENT I hosted a 60th Birthday Roast for my husband in May 2026 and it exceeded all expectations. I wanted a venue with lodging so the attendees could stay over if they wished. It was perfect. The party went smoothly, the staff was so professional and courteous. The food was out of this world! So good! The 160 people that attended have not stopped raving about it. The rooms were clean and cozy. If you're looking for a venue to hold a wedding, party, event etc definitely hold it at The Mansion at Glen Cove.
Absolutely a wonderful experience attending the Easter Egg Hunt! Brandon and all staff members went above and beyond to ensure our visit was a fun filled one. From reservations to dinning experience, everything was well organized and wonderfully decorated. Kids LOVED the activities and had too much fun doing the Easter egg hunt. Nice clean Mansion with breathtaking views! Truly a beautiful place! We did received a box of chocolate and Easter baskets upon arrival but unfortunately someone must have thought we had left our table and removed the items before we returned otherwise everything went well and everyone had a great time. Professional and courteous staff all the way to servers! Highly recommend signing up for their events online in advance and for their newsletters. Definitely worth going with family and friends. Truly deserving of all 5 stars.
