I recently spent five nights at the Roycroft Inn in East Aurora, New York. The property is historic and well regarded, and I had expectations consistent with that reputation. The room was comfortable, and the staff members I interacted with were courteous. However, several aspects of the service did not align with those expectations. Upon arrival, the telephone in my room was not functioning, which meant I was unable to contact the front desk when I needed assistance adjusting the room temperature. As temperature control is centrally managed, this created some inconvenience. The happy hour service at the bar, which was still listed in in-room materials, did not appear to be available during my stay. In addition, housekeeping service was limited. Over the course of five nights, I requested housekeeping by placing the appropriate sign on the door, but the room received only partial service on one occasion. I also carried my own luggage up a set of interior stairs upon arrival, which may be relevant for guests with mobility considerations or heavy bags. I did bring all of these concerns to the attention of the innkeeper, Katie, during my stay. In response, I was offered $10 off per night as compensation, but there was no indication that any of the underlying issues would be addressed during my visit. I understand the property changed ownership this summer, and these observations may reflect an ongoing transition. I am sharing this information for future guests who may be basing expectations on the Inn’s historic reputation and prior service levels. The Roycroft Inn remains a historic property with strong potential, and I hope these operational issues are addressed as part of ongoing improvements.
I hosted a memorial luncheon for my wife. I contacted Celeste and we put together in a week. Held in the Library and Craftsman lounge which was perfect. Everything we asked for was setup before hand and took the stress off of us. Food was wonderful and cared for by the staff. It was like having in your home. Thank you. A treasured home for those of us who live in East Aurora.
Came in for Tuesday burger night with my grandmother, and enjoyed the delicious deal of a build your own burger and wine for $20! Our server Erika was patient and kind with my grandmother and helped us pick an assortment of fun toppings like bacon jam, mushrooms, and caramelized onions. They even had turkey burgers! We loved the atmosphere of the patio on a warm evening. Would definitely recommend to everyone!
This is a great place to stay when you're looking for something special and unique. This historical building is beautiful, and the furniture used in the rooms is just beautiful - arts & crafts style, some Stickley. Even the smallest inn room is spacious, with a surprisingly enormous bathroom. The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful, and it's wonderful to be able to get room service for dinner from the Roycroft restaurant. A tasty Continental breakfast is included in your stay. The location of the Inn lends itself to exploring all that East Aurora has to offer on foot if you so choose, or a quick drive. The Inn is very relaxed, which is the same vibe as all of East Aurora. Perfect for a long weekend getaway.
