We stayed at the Kimpton for a work event with some girlfriends. We thought we would add fun to the top of our daily work events so four of us reunited in NYC for a bit of a girls weekend. Our trip to the city began at the Kimpton and wow. The biggest room I've ever had in the city. The beds were larger, the space around them was larger. Already a win. The location was an easy walk down 38th to anywhere we needed to be. The access of times square without the hustle and bustle. The gym is nice (as I head there right now). What truly makes this hotel special is the people. Every person on this stag is warm and welcoming. And they will be there for you in your time of need. Which was our second night of the trip. After getting out from Hamiltin we were high on the vibes of NYC. We decide to take a pedicab in order to get to the hotel faster to change for a work event. What could have been a 23 minute walk or 8 minute drive became a 29 minute pedicab ride. And the tried to charge us $700 for the ride when we got back to the hotel. We tried to refuse paying that crazy price since it was obviously a scam. The hotel staff came to our rescue. We ran in to tell them what happened. They told us not to pay to come inside and call the police. They waited with us, made sure we were safe throughout the entire confrontation, and now warn others about the dangers of being too trusting in this city. Since we saw the goodness of the staff, especially Hector ( who stayed overtime for free to help us), Ernst, and manager Arsenio on that night, we didn't let this crazy experience sour or NYC trip. Arsenio also sourced us some hot tea late one night after a long day of talking with customers at our work event. Above and beyond in every respect. We look forward to staying with our friends again the next time we are in the city. We'll be back!! 12/10. A must stay. Thank you, Kimpton, for being a part of our core memory.

Newly renovated but absurdly small rooms, zero amenities whatsoever, no room service, no restaurant onsite, no coffee machines, absolutely nothing. I cannot believe this is allowed to be called a 4 star hotel, it’s a 3 if that. The showers are preposterously small and due to the position of the shower handle behind a wall, you can’t turn them on without getting soaked, good luck if you’re a woman who wants to avoid wetting your hair. The staff were kind and sweet, so I do want to acknowledge that, and I never write reviews, but I just cannot believe this is marketed as a 4 star hotel and felt compelled to let future travellers know what they’re getting themselves into. Avoid this place unless all you want is an incredibly basic room with a bed. Nothing else.
TLDR: Convenient location, beautiful design (a true Kimpton) with somewhat disappointing food offerings and NYC-type rooms. The team is pleasant and helpful. We had a check-in hiccup that should have definitely been avoided (the manger informing us that a confirmed and paid “confirmation for a room type does not mean it’s confirmed”) but he later made it right. He should have and could have made it a non-issue but it took some convincing which left a bitter taste for us. The rooms are beautiful and the bed is comfortable. Yes, they are NYC-size, unfortunately. They are quiet and overall comfortable. No bathtub in most rooms. We needed some items in the room and these were sent out quickly. Jose brought our bags quickly and both him and Eddie were very pleasant. The on-site food options are scarce and consistent of a small Cafe menu for a few hours in the AM, but even that sells out and you might need to go outside. When doing so, they honored the Diamond Elite Breakfast Credit against a receipt which I believe is an appropriate solution. I went to Tartinery for breakfast and had a great time. Overall, a good experience.
What a wonderful, quiet, clean location that is walking distance to 100’s of restaurants & shops! Exceptional service by staff: Melissa and Evelyn at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure our stay was 5 star. Manager Deshawn was able to problem-solve our late check-out and explain the best routes to major sites. Super Convenient to Grand Central Station: only a 5 min walk. The room was quiet and cool despite being right on Park avenue. Amenities were high-quality. Enjoyed the wine reception at happy hour
This was unfortunately the most disappointing Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property I’ve stayed at. I understand it’s a newer hotel and still finding its footing, but the experience didn’t live up to what I’ve come to expect from the Kimpton brand, especially for the cost of the room. The biggest challenge is the size of the rooms. They are extremely small and felt more like a cruise ship cabin than a hotel room. The bathroom was almost unusable given its size. I could barely get my shoulders through the doorway, which made the space feel very cramped. The room layout also didn’t feel well thought out. The design seemed a bit sloppy, with visible cords hanging out and the coffee maker positioned so close to the TV that it actually hit the bottom of it when used. Small details like that make the room feel unfinished. Overall, the property still seems to be working through some design and space issues. With a few adjustments it could improve, but in its current form the rooms are simply too small and awkwardly designed to be comfortable.
