A truly mixed bag of an experience. Start with the room: bed was smaller and lower than what was advertised. No side tables next to the bed; weird shade setup for the windows; table in the kitchen area too large for the space; a nice bathroom and shower but a lower toilet (needs to be higher like the one's in lobby restrooms); very loud AC/heating system; lastly walls as thin as paper. Now onto the service. Only one complaint here: the young man at the Turkish sauna needs to be replaced; not helpful and he acted like we were bothering him. Also it didn't say the restaurant was closed for renovations which was a bit of a pain. The location was probably the best thing because it was easy to walk to areas or get a Lyft to further areas. Side note: we aren't big people (we wear medium to large shirts) and the in-room robes were tiny. Will definitely visit NYC again but probably won't stay here.

My wife and I didn't actually stay here as guests, but I am leaving a 5-star review because the staff literally helped save the day during a major medical emergency. My wife went into sudden, intense labor and we desperately needed to get to NYU Langone Health. Because the UN General Assembly was in session, Manhattan traffic was a complete gridlock. Our Uber couldn't move an inch, and the 34th Street Ferry pier was shut down for security. In a panic, I got my wife onto the subway, but the moment we exited, she completely ran out of energy and the contractions had her crawling on the ground. Terrified and looking for help, I ran into this hotel lobby and begged for a wheelchair. Even though we weren't their guests, the staff listened to my emergency, acted with total empathy, and immediately lent me a wheelchair in exchange for my ID. Thanks to their quick action and compassion, we made it to the hospital just in time. My wife and newborn received the critical care they needed, and everyone is healthy and safe. I cannot thank the team here enough for showing true passion to care when a family needed it most. If this is how they treat total strangers in a crisis, I can only imagine how wonderful they are to their actual guests. Highly, highly recommend!
I literally cannot believe this is a 5 star hotel - and I would challenge that every second of the day. First - upon arrival, both of the 'doormen' were standing around looking at their phones inside the vestibule and no one came out to greet us, or take our luggage. Second - we were checking in (18 minutes to check in time at 3pm) and our room wasn't ready. We were told to wait 10 minutes and it will be ready. 30 minutes later, we approached the front desk.. still not ready. Our room was not ready until a full hour and a half after check in time. No apologies or anything.. just an explanation that a door handle was broken. (okay.. but why not give us another one?) Third - we were informed AFTER checking in that the kitchen was fully closed and there was no room service. No emails ahead of time and nothing on the booking page. Fourth - They do offer pastries and coffee at their lobby bar but the entire pastry bin is infested with gnats.. so I don't know who is eating that. It's outright disgusting and a health hazard. Fifth - They have an ipad in the rooms to order items and/or request services. Nice touch if they actually paid attention. We were there for 2 nights, they did not clean the room any of the FIVE different times I requested it - on the app, at the front desk in person, and by calling. No room cleaning. Sixth - my husband ordered a bottle of champagne ahead of time to the room.. it never came. We got an ice bucket.. nothing else. Seventh - I made the mistake of booking a massage at their spa. The front desk person who is also the cleaner, who arrived LATE to my booked massage, is ALSO the masseuse. I left covered in oil and not any more relaxed. She walked in while I was changing, she had zero care for keeping me covered or comfortable. I do not believe she was a licensed masseuse. All around.. how in the world this place managed to get itself listed as a 5 star hotel is beyond me. Avoid avoid avoid!
Stayed here last night and knew right away this was not a 5 star hotel. The front desk staff is nice and helpful. The hallways were unusually dark. Our room had an empty soap dispenser and a window that would not close tightly - which is unfortunate because we could hear traffic noise from the 12th floor. The door latching mechanisms on all room doors are very loud so if anyone is trying to sleep in a neighboring room they will be woken up. They would not honor a posted happy hour price of $10 for a glass of wine. They also do not stock beer at the bar. However the nice, but inexperienced, bartender offered to walk to the store to get some. I went down for coffee at 7 am, when they said it would be out, but then they said it would be later. The Turkish Bath was unique (like a big steam room) and the pool was small but nice. There are other options in that area that are better managed and less expensive
My husband and son stayed here for one night. Beautiful and very nice staff. Loved that our room had a kitchenette. Not many hotels in the area that have pools, so staying here with my son was a no brainier. The ac unit (1204) buzzed all night long to be honest. I know that can happen anywhere and I wasn't calling maintanence at night so just dealt with it. Everything went smooth and would definitely stay here again.
