We reserved a room with a king sized bed weeks before our trip. When we arrived after a late flight, we were given a room with a full size bed (maybe queen - definitely NOT a king) and a couch. A very uncomfortable couch. The next morning, we requested we be moved into the room style we had reserved weeks earlier - a king bed. The woman at the desk said none were immediately available, but we could store our luggage with the bell hop and when a room became available later in the afternoon, we would get it. She inquired why we did not like our "upgrade" in rooms - afterall, it had an additional room, a couch, a wet bar, and a balcony (that was inaccessible due to construction). It was definiltey NOT an upgrade. We returned to the hotel mid-evening and went to the front desk to pick up our new keys. The new woman working had no record of our earlier conversation and had to find her manager. It was only after I pulled up my email from weeks earlier confirming my king bed reservation that they finally got us into a king size bed room. The whole exchange left a very bad taste. The windows are not very sound proof and despite being 20 floors up, traffic noise carries into the rooms very loudly.

I wanted to check in early, but the room wasn’t available, fine - they promised to text me when it was ready, or call me. They never contacted me. When I tried to check in, we were interrupted three times by her trying to help three different separate people - at the same time… They didn’t tell me any details - or when checkout, or anything… customer service wasn’t great and check in took a while. The bed was comfortable, but the room was small. the bathroom is absolutely tiny and a really poor design, with the shower curtain sticking to you no matter what you do. Not nice. Towels were also tiny and the room was SO dark, even with the lights on. I dont want to have to turn on and off a Million switches to be able to see. The fan / AC system was also very loud. charge to store luggage seems a bit much…!
We had a great stay. Everyone was friendly. Anas brought us a rollaway bed and made sure it fit properly and we were satisfied. Yasmin at the front desk was very helpful with our accommodations with my kids. The room and bathroom were clean no issues. Khalid and Louis and staff were great where they hold the baggage. Great location to everything.
Great location. Everything else is a mess. I’m not sure how Marriott lets its name sit on this property. Our first room reeked of carpet that’s been shampooed over and over and never properly dried. The entire floor smelled like a wet dog the moment the elevator doors opened. The windows didn’t close. The wallpaper was patched over and over because the walls behind it clearly haven’t been maintained. Finishes worn out. Blinds hung crooked, like nobody bothered with a level. The bathroom was the low point the mirror was delaminating from behind, the kind of thing you’d expect at a gas station in the middle of the desert. Water damage on sections of the wall with obvious cheap repairs over it. We decided to make the best of it and go down for a glass of wine. Bar closed at 10:45 PM. There’s a champagne vending machine sitting in the middle of the lobby — 12 oz bottles at $42 — except it doesn’t dispense anything unless you get a token from the bar. Which is closed. No room service either. So at 10:45 PM in New York City, adult guests are sent back to their rooms because there is no way to get a drink in this hotel. I complained and used my Marriott status to get moved to the elite floors. Big difference. Clean hallways, no smell, a much cleaner room, windows that actually close. That tells you everything , they know how to run a clean floor, they just don’t do it for everyone.
Decent walking distance to Grand Central Station. Hotel is kinda modern and sleek yet outdated and funky. ( decorated and velour seats and low stools for dining/ bar area ; where sat for breakfast) Room was small, beds were small ( 2 Fulls) Bathroom was SMALL. Camper size. Room was never vacuumed prior to our stay, there were white paper or something on the floor. Sheets appeared cleaned, so was ok. Also Room smelled dirty like a swamp, buuuuut as we discovered, a lot of NYC smells likes thar and rotting garbage. Surprisingly, though, the beds were extremely comfortable. Plush and lovely. Definitely the highlight of the room. So, supposedly the room was " handicapped/ equipped" but I do not know how a wheeled chair person, could A. Navigate down the long and winding floor isles nevermind get through door past the bed. Bathroom, only grab bar noted was on on opposite wall of where you'd attempt to get into the tub. Breakfast that was included was sub par.... waffles rubbery and inedible. Fruit selection was good. Eggs and bacon were decent. Oatmeal was good. Eventhough was included, opted to go elsewhere rest of days. Also seating was odd. Sitting on little low stools.. not a fan... I suppose if were hanging out to have a drink, may be ok... Hotel staff( check in, was very friendly and professional. )
